                            RULES

o1. Follow gaia terms of service at all costs. I cannot stress it enough. There are all of those helpful little links at the bottom of the page for a reason. Keep in mind that there may be gaia users whom are under age. Let's keep things appropriate for ages thirteen or so. Including gore, I know that zombies are gore-y but try and not make us sick.

o2. That means no cybering what so ever. I don't want it linked to this guild to my roleplay in any way. I mean I can't stop you from taking it to PMs or off site but please out of respect, try to keep your characters hands over the clothes.

o3. Drama between characters are is fine, but if there are any issues between yourself and another roleplayer, take it up with myself and/or the guild crew.

o4. Now literacy is usually a concern for others, I can write from two paragraphs to a literal book if given the time, but for this roleplay I would like to see a good four paragraphs. From seven to nine sentences long. I understand writers block, try your best okay! I'd appreciate no text talk, seeing as there aren't too many working cellphones and such.

o5. Now the fun part, when looking to join please PM me the reserves first. Once accepted, go ahead and work on your profile. Reserves will last seventy two hours. After that, I have every right to find a new person to fill the role or retire your character as an NPC. With reserves, please title it "Conrad, Wanderer or survivor" Once I okay it, please title your profile PM "Endure and survive". I will post them in the profile thread for you.

o6. Plot as much as you can, get to know one another! It's fun! Make a story!!

o7. Try and have fun!! But please, I am the god of this roleplay.

                            STORY

Rumor has it that the infection started in the south, the middle of winter. It explains why it took so long to spread to the north. The cold seemed to slow them down for a time, until the healthy were making there way up the country. They brought the dead faster, seeing as they weren't ready for the cold. Many perished in there journey north, turning upon death.

Some were lucky, like the residents of Conrad, Iowa they got the message, and built there walls high. They took an effort to fend off the dead while setting there defenses, all with the help of their leaders. Conrad has only lasted this long because of it's organization. Without it, they may be lost.

Others weren't as lucky. Like the group of wanderers who've made there way from the south, amazingly alive and as well as they could get. The group lost a lot of people on the way, friends and family. They've also encountered some of the meanest and unruly people on the way.

During the past two years, both Conrad, the Wanderers, and many survivors have had many test and trials, but they're alive today. So when the Wanderers make it to Conrad, what will happen to the stability of the groups? Can they be excepted?

                            THE INFECTION AND THE UNDEAD

The infection starts with a few things; either a contact with bodily fluids, or death. If bitten, scratched, or you happen to come close enough for fluids to mix; you get the fever. If the fever doesn't dehydrate you to the point of hallucination, your organ failure will have you coughing up blood. Eventually death comes, and you're dormant, later on the stem of the brain reactivates. Your basic needs come back. Food is all that's on your nonintellectual mind, and food happens to be any kind of living meat. The host of the infection is dead, gone, no luck helping them. Say your goodbyes.

The undead are attracted by noise, light and smell, always looking for something to snack on. They are slow with low muscle mass usually, but strong in groups. They mindlessly break things because of their massive numbers, and uncaring for personal space.

Zombie activity will be based on a random number from random.org. On a scale from 0-20 will grade the severity.
0-5 Nothing special, especially if it's zero. Clear for the most part, a few stragglers.
6-10 Will need clearing before they attract others. If not done, it will escalate. Bruising to lighter injuries. On occasion someone may get hurt badly.
11-20 Most severe and terrifying. It can be handled but takes extreme coordination. People will die, those who survive will have heavy injury. Find safety.

I will post these numbers as needed during the roleplay. We can also discuss it in OOC when we want to spice things up. But that will be rare.

                            CONRAD

                                                      Located in Iowa, USA.
Population as of 2011: 3.065 million
Population as of 2013: 157 (Conrad's knowledge at least)
Crops: Iowa leads the states in the production of corn and ranks among the leaders in production of soybeans. Other major field crops include oats and hay, red clover, flaxseed, rye and wheat. Very fertile soil and can grow most veggies. Not too much fruit, other than tree based. Your apples, pears, plums and cherries. (thanks google for all info.)

                                                      Laws of the land:

Curfew- Children will be indoors at dusk, lights out by nine. Teens will be in after chores and schooling are done, by the latest six in the evening. Adults not on a shift will be in at nine, or rest as needed for midnight shifts. Our elderly usually pass out at about seven, they don't have to be looked after too much.

Responsibilities- Children take lessons during most of the day, eight to three, consisting of your core learning and light survival skills. Chores are usually domestic, cleaning, a little gardening, maybe transporting small resources between houses. Teens attend heavier survival eight to ten in the morning, after a break for food or travel time, they attend core classes until one in the afternoon. Teens have chores up until dusk, baby sitting, taking care of elders, cooking and taking community meals to other workers, some even clear the walls in special occasions, ect.
Adults take most of the responsibility, having set jobs and or keeping watch, seeing as there are more of them.
There is one elderly couple still alive, one a teacher, the other serves as a story teller seeing as they are pretty immobile, but everyone seems to love him.

Jobs- Most people go into something they knew beforehand, others are assigned things they may not like.
                                                      The Leader. Council.
Wall watchers, guards, clearer whatever you wanna call them.
Gardeners, hunters and livestock farmer. Teachers and survival instructors. Our two doctors and three nurses. Construction.
Cooks, food runners, dish cleaning, trash taking.
                                                      Supply runners, trash takers.

Do your part- Do your chores as told, never take more than resources are given. We're bound to go short sometimes but please hang in. This includes running water and power.

Outsiders- Doesn't happen often but if living people come near, a warning. If they are friendly, we interview them. Decide to take them in or not. Unfriendlies, are to be dealt with.

                                                      IMPORTANT ROLES.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxLeader- Can be any gender, very organized and meticulous. Strict but with reason. This was there town before the crap hit the fan so to speak, so they are very protective. Must be middle age or so.

                            The Wanderers

Dirty, sneaky, and dangerous if you cross them the wrong way. The wanderers are from all over, making a group together under some of the most dangerous circumstances. They are not nearly as structured as Conrad, but they do have their rules. Like don't take from one another. No guns unless absolutely necessary. Protect the group. Stick together.
                                                      .
The wanderers typically travel during night with clear skys, otherwise there best defense would be washed off. When they have to be on the move and have to go undetected by the infected, they cover themselves with blood guts and dirt. It's both disgusting and brilliant. They don't do it ll the time but if there are large hordes, or have a need to breeze through a town for supplies it's there best bet. It was a little trick Alyssa picked up in the spring, before the rain showers hit. Of course she learned the hard way what happens when it rains.

The group learns from one another, and they take shifts guarding while others sleep. It's been a long two years.

Reserve! Please know there are only six wanderers. Images should be 250x150 and it can be gifs if you like just the right size.

                            The Survivors

The survivors are what Conrad call outsiders. They travel all over Iowa or from farther, looking for a sanctuary. Hopefully this will be the place for them.

Reserve! I will allow any amount of survivors but there can be only one immune, preferably a child, but we can discuss that if you want it badly. Any other survivors you have full creative power! Images should be 250x150 and it can be gifs if you like just the right size.

                            WEATHER AND ZOMBIE ACTIVITY

                                                      WEATHER AND TIME
It's currently nine am on a lovely mid May morning. Looks like a low of 39° and a possible high of 54°. Currently it is 45°. A little windy, but no chance of showers until tonight.

ROLL OF THE DIE : 7
Looks like it's a little busy out there today, if we could get some people out of the walls of Conrad to clean things up that'd be nice. Stick in pairs everyone! And remember, keep it low, just so we don't have more trouble on our hands!

Wanderers will be geared in there blood and guts to keep safe in stead of spending energy on killing. Take your time and don't draw too much attention. Pray it doesn't rain before you find shelter.

All of you survivors out there better hide or climb, it's a little too much today!

The morning sunrise had only just risen a few hours ago, and it was shining perfectly between the bright green tree tops of fresh and delicious dangling apples. For most, this sight was suppose to be calming and refreshing, but to one among the fruit, there was the ugly side of how this world was now.

Today was turning out to be a big ray of sunshine and wonderful alright.

Between a parallel maze of huge apple trees ran a nimble skinny speed stick, the backpack bouncing around so violently. Casey May was in trouble as she closed her mouth finally to swallow the dryness pulsing between her cheeks. They were behind her, she could hear them, following the scent of the living. Running now at a zigzag within the maze of tall trees, she was stopped in her tracks when hands writhing for a piece of her came out of the side. Casey May was being attached and threw up her hands with her face tightening up as she put as much pressure she could to push away his hands, one bite. One bite, and it was over. She would never be able to see her father again. She had to get back to Conrad. Jumping back, Casey kicked her size 9 cowgirl boot into his chest, straight into a jumble of three more. More! Her kick had collapsed his rib-cage and the thought of it sent a quick volt of disgust. She wretched herself away from them. Don't panic was hard to tell herself.

Too many for one person. Hesitantly but still moving backwards, her eyes were wide and open to fear and plan of action from her brain. Luckily, her eyes spotted a ladder. She ran to it, this was her one in only chance He was giving her right now for survival and she had to take it. As fast as she could. Hurry, hurry! Gasping in panic to get to the top, they were already on her heels, groaning. She felt the ladder shaking, and it slowly began to fall. She screamed.

The ladder fell in a loud ping onto the ground, but there was no meal ticket with it for the walkers below her. Casey had jumped onto a thick branch of the apple tree and was now clinging for it for dear life. The sounds of them, the slight feel of wind from their waving arms up for their dangling food, it brought terrified filled tears up to the soft baby blues. It wasn't supposed to happen like this, she was just suppose to do a quick run and be home in time for supper. They had been not where they said they were suppose to meet back up after gathering apples. And the one that was with her, Mason, decided to go for a bathroom break. Great time. Great f▬▬ time for a bathroom break.

Pressing her cheek into the warming up oak, she wiggled her foot a bit to get a better hold, but unfortunately, it had rained the day before and the wood was a little damp. Her foot slipped from it, which made her protest with a whimper, but licking her lips and pursing them, she threw her leg down than up fast to round about her way over the branch. Sighing with awed relief, she pushed the stray red hairs from her forehead and looked around. "Easy...," she sighed, the fight for her life had made the young girl tired from the run for her money.

Reaching down into her belt's holster, she pulled out a broad and mean looking knife. "Might as well." She arched a brow with a cheshire sweet half grin. Cutting the stem, she started to load up on apples wiggling her legs as the walkers pushed and snapped their jaws up at her.

She had probably been in that tree for a good hour, she was going to eat this whole tree if someone didn't come and help her out soon. Though boredom was going to kill her first. Surely these dead heads had something better to do than bark up at the wrong tree. The sound of a gun made her jump right out of her thoughts, her eyes scurrying around in the direction it came from. Perhaps her party had got in trouble looking for her. Sadness and worry touched Casey's eyes as she pinched up. If they died on her hands, she would be ... devastated. It still didn't make sense, even as she was living in this crazy world, but thankfully no one had been bitten or killed from Conrad, at least not on her part just yet.

Hearing the sound, a few of them started to go towards it. Yeah, scram please. Casey May kept her eyes on the horizon, but something glinting at her eye made her turn towards her left.

                                        Huh...?

➳ location: somewhere in Iowa ➳ company: myself and apparently someone with a gun ➳ status: cautious but grateful

Hudson wiped his forehead with his sleeve as walked through the morning rays of sun. It felt as though they were beating down on him and making him overheat. Realistically, it wasn't that hot out, but he had already been walking since sunrise and the movement had him sweating. He had no real destination. The only plan Hudson ever had was to keep moving. Never stay in one place for too long, because sooner or later it would be overrun by Walkers -- and often sooner rather than later. The London-born young man had learned that the hard way early on in the infection.

Currently, he was making his way up a small rise in the land. He wasn't sure exactly where he was in Iowa right now, but he remembered seeing the "Welcome" sign at some point. There was no telling right now if that had been days ago or weeks ago, though. Hudson had stopped keeping track. As he reached the top of the rise, he looked out over the landscape before him, pausing to pull a water bottle from his back but careful not to jostle his heavy weaponry too much. His axe-and-spear method may not be the most practical for getting around, but it hadn't failed him so far. He had no need to move quickly unless he was slipping away from a horde of zombies, so the weapons at his back didn't bother him.

Hudson took a few sips of the water before returning it to his pack and starting back down the other side of the rise. Far in the distance, he caught the very edge of what looked like a grove of some trees, though from here he couldn't tell what they were. More often than not, though, the larger and more deliberate looking groups of trees held fruit. That was something that interested Hudson. The only problem was that the space between him and the grove was teeming with Walkers. Somehow, that was always the case. When there was something important, or something useful ahead, the zombies congregated around it. Not that they knew it was important or useful. It was simply the luck of the draw for the living folks.

As he walked cautiously, doing his best to skirt around the Walkers slowly enough to hope that they didn't notice him, a sound pierced the air. A gunshot? That was unusual. Obviously it meant that someone else was out here, but most people knew better than to shoot a gun this close to a horde of zombies. As if on cue, the creatures began to redirect themselves to where the sound had come from. It had been good timing, at least. It gave Hudson a much better chance of getting through this plot of land, as they were all moving away from the path that he was taking around them. Silently thanking the mystery shooter, however stupid it was to shoot in the first place, the young man continued on -- still cautiously -- towards the orchard ahead.

IT`S A MELODYoptophobeOPTO IT`S A BATTLE CRY optophobeOPTO IT`S A SYMPHONY

There was nothing better than being dressed in black and covered in a thick layer of zombie guts. In this world at least. Alyssa felt safer when she smelled like one of the undead, and she was indeed safer, walking calmly through packs of hungry zombies. Thankfully the sun was more gentle in Iowa, otherwise Alyssa would be dying of heat stroke. The brunette made careful steps towards the orchard, figuring fresh fruit would be a good eat after a long night of travel. She and Stetson had managed to become separated after her attitude had --- presumably--- driven them apart for a short time. With her attitude and his sense of humor, they tended to butt heads or at least Stetson managed to piss her off for a length of time. This just happened to be one of them.

The young woman made her way into the establishment right off of the road, passing by another survivor off in the distance. She was focused on the loud shot that had burst through the eerie quiet of Iowa. Surely it had to be Stetson, and that meant he had run into trouble. Alyssa would never admit it to the older man, but it scarred her. The blood was flowing through her veins, machete drawn from behind her back. The movement caught the attention of some of the walkers, but she was faster than them. Bobbing, weaving, and stabbing, Alyssa made a path towards the sound, her mind running with the worry for her traveling companion.

It was a surprise to see another person in the horizon, one that wasn't Stetson. A taller girl than herself had managed to get herself up a tree. Alyssa's weapon caught the glimpse of the sun flashing a ray of sunshine at the girl. Alyssa approached slowly, blending in with the straggling walkers headed in the direction of the shot. One or two of the undead spotted the red head in the tree, reaching their hands upwards in a frivolous act in trying to reach the girl. With a look at the girl, Alyssa swung at them, taking their heads clean off their shoulders. "Do have someone out here with a gun?" She asked in a gentle but worried tone, Stetson always had his gun as a back up, she almost wished that it was this girls friend.

Another shot rang out, causing Alyssa's head to turn in it's direction, distracting her form the approaching male. Her heart picked up, hand gripping the hold of her weapon. "Stet." Alyssa's jaw clenched as she began a moving in that direction before looking back at the girl and now close by stranger. She drew her weapon up, directed at the male. It wasn't Stetson for sure, this man had short hair. "Perhaps it's your man shooting?" She asked the man, it was evident that Alyssa feared men more than ladies stuck in a tree. Not that the red head wasn't capable of harm, it was just she had appeared in need of help where as this man was heading their way.

Alyssa had encountered many a man in her time of traveling, some good, many bad. Surely she did not look all that well to either of them though, covered form head to toe in gore. Her face streaked with blood, pieces of hair stuck together from blood that was not her own. The world has certainly changed, hasn't it? "Either way, I need to make sure it's not my man." She said turning her weapon and heading towards the sound of those last shots. "Whether you come with me or not is up to the two of you." She smirked lightly at the two of them before making a beeline towards the noise.

At first, to Casey's eyes, the woman that had been standing so close to the walkers, she was sure she was one of them. It was the look of another human being in her eyes that made her realize she was not alone here. How clever as all she could think as soon the woman who was dressed finely in zombie guts unsheathed her blade and started to chop at them without fear and the manner of a professional. A surprised gap between her lips had her watching like an audience. Conrad had not had anyone with this skill and charisma come to her gates since the fall, they were either dead or bitten, and not long after joined the undead population outside their gates. Finally, the woman talked, making Casey already starting to try and get down. This girl was a badass. "Uh - yes, I have a team." Oops, maybe she should not have admitted that. If the girl did mean her harm, at least it would mean if something did happen to Casey, people would look for her. She started to usher herself down, keeping a hold on the branch and then sliding with her boots down, her gloved hands gripping the tree. She hit the bottom, making a nice squishy sound in the girl's handiwork.

Skipping around them with a sickened expression, she adjusted her bag on her shoulders and walked towards the girl's side, her eyes scanning around all about for more of them. She was three feet or so away from her. Though she was supposed to be weary of strangers, that didn't really feel like the appropriate, and Christian, thing to do out here. Her team may not see it that way. Glancing down at her toes, she licked her lips to speak and mustered out a Southern polite, "Thank you, you didn't have to help." She was a fellow woman out here in the danger, of course she wouldn't suspect her of anything.

Her shoulders jumped when another shot through the silent, it made her worry for her teammates. Casey May was a trusting girl. Footsteps in the distance made Casey's eyes follow the girl's, it was a man. As he grew closer, Casey's eyes grew clouded and now was time to be a tad bit worried. She smiled slightly when the girl said a name, but it appeared more as a hopeful question. Casey hesitantly asked her quietly, though she didn't expect to get an answer, "Friend of yours?" Reaching up, she pulled a piece of hair behind her ear as the man that was approaching was quite - well handsome compared to what choices she had to look at. Looking at the girl, who looked displeased, it was apparent it was not her friend as she pushed forward expressing her distress to find him.

She gave them an option. Casey looked from the woman's disappearing back, letting out a small laugh that was completely ensnared in the woman's personality and headstrong ways. So, cool. Smiling at the sense of adventure, "Sure, why not!" she sang, and in a fancy way to try to get the guy's attention, Casey reached for her knife and tried her best to spin it, but it only slipped to her goes. Muttering a slight curse, she quickly got it back from the guts of a deadhead, grimacing at her now fleshy knife wiping it on her violet stripped button up that was open for a white tank top. She felt her cheeks a little red from embarrassment, but after clearing her throat she steered herself quickly after the woman.

Casey kept her knife up and ready to stab at anything, but when they got to a scene of taken out bodies of walkers, she lowered her weapon and looked around for clues. That was when she realized the red sweater. Her heart sank and slowly she pressed the back of her palm to her lips and looked away. Mason had been torn open, and gently she went on unsupportive legs towards his body. "This is... one of my team." She sniffled though trying to hold it together. His head was still attached. Casey would not let him wake up as one of those things, not like this. Though it made her make a grieving expression, Casey smoothed his head and took her knife pressing into his temple as fast as she could before shakily getting up, almost falling in the process and taking up his gun. "We got separated, but the others are hopefully close because of the gunshots." This was disheartening to her, how was she going to tell his parents. He was the preacher's son, what would that do to an already failing father?

Wiping her blade once more, she faced them with puffed eyes. It was always hard to lose someone and they had been lucky it didn't happen often. Casey pushed the gun in her back pocket after applying the safety like the Bobby, the sheriff, had taught them. Having a little moment after discovering where the shots were in fact coming from, Casey decided to open up a little. Maybe they would also come to Conrad with her. Blinking the wetness from her eyes, she rubbed her jeans in a nervous way. "Uhm, you two seem like okay people." She looked to the woman dressed in guts with nothing but starstruck approval. The gal reminded Casey of a superhero in some way. Though short, the girl was dynamic and unafraid. "My name is Casey May. Or just Casey is fine, of course." She hurried quickly after waving her hand out. "And you two?" She smiled comforting, but as she felt a little odd doing this out of the blue, it vanished to a worried line.
