Professor Selene seems embarrassed and flustered to have put up a booth this late, and it's almost impossible to get her to speak other than to whimper or try and send you back to the flute and basket on the booth in front of her. Luckily, her game seems self-explanatory, as there isn't much to do other than try to play the flute and see if you have any success. Of course, there are always less fruitful choices...

Attempt to speak to Professor Selene

"No.. no I'm late, this is terrible, no, pleasssssse.." Her hiss had been so well controlled for so long, but she was unable to keep it out of her voice now. Talking to her seems useless, perhaps you should give up and try to play her game.

Keep trying to talk to her

"Sssssssstop, pleassssse, I have no time for this," She whimpers, pulling her hood over her head. You'll get nothing more out of her, now.

Move away to give her some room

She sighs with relief and gives you a hesitant little smile, then gestures towards the basket. She wants as many people to play as possible, to make up for all the time she thinks she's missed. (Move on to the rules!)

Immediately try to play the game
Selene looks so relieved and thankful that she might cry at any moment. She even manages to hiss out the instructions, despite her nervous hissing interrupting her speech.

"Jussst play the flute, and if you play the right notesss, my little friend will be sssssummoned to come ssssssay hello. I wissshhhh you the bessst of luck!"

That seemed to have taken a lot out of her. She might need a nap, after all of this. (Move on to the rules!)

THE RULES

The flute has six holes in them, and you can hold as few or as many holes as you want. There is a specific combination that must be played, in order for the snake to be charmed enough to appear. The combination is as follows:

Note 1: A A (Any two of the same number)
Note 2: C (Any number other than the one used for A)
Note 3: F A (Any unused number, and then the same number that you claim as A)
Note 4: B D (Any two unused numbers, together)

Roll 20d6 to attempt to find those notes. They do not need to be in order, but one note set cannot touch another note set in the roll they're ordered. That is to say, A A cannot touch F A. C cannot touch A A. But F and A must touch one another, just as A and A, and B and D do. Additionally make sure note 3 is found in the right order (a random, and then A. It can't be A, then a random!)

EXAMPLE ROLL!:

Nio Love rolled 20 6-sided dice: 5, 6, 3, 1, 6, 3, 5, 4, 1, 1, 4, 1, 4, 1, 2, 3, 1, 4, 6, 1 Total: 62 (20-120) - WINNER!
Note 1: 1, 1
Note 2: 4
Note 3: 6, 1
Note 4: 3, 5

Nio Love rolled 20 6-sided dice: 2, 4, 1, 2, 2, 2, 6, 1, 1, 1, 6, 1, 5, 5, 1, 6, 2, 5, 3, 1 Total: 57 (20-120) - WINNER!
Note 1: 1, 1
Note 2: 5
Note 3: 3, 1
Note 4: 2, 4

Each time you play a note, the basket will shake or wriggle with response. Make sure you roleplay all four notes out! Only posts with roleplay describing playing four notes will be qualified!

Brute had gone back to wandering around the booths, shirts back on and helmet back in place, once his little abscapade had come to a finish. Wrex had mentioned something about them having a booth set up themselves, but so far, Brute was still far to interested in investigating other booths instead, intent on seeing what else there was to do and to possibly eat.

When he came upon a booth just as it was opening, he took pause, and wandered closer, nostrils flaring behind his helm as he sniffed at the air with great huffs of air before getting slowly closer, and closer, bobbing his head slowly at the adult who might possibly have been one of those teacher creeple Brute kept hearing about. Would she want to fight him? She did not look like she wanted to fight. No, instead, she simply looked stressed out, and nervous. Brute went further forward, and offered her a few choice words.

"I am Brute."

That did not seem to go over well. In fact, she seemed like she just wanted him to play the game. Except....he didn't really know how.

"I am Brute." he repeated, while weaving his head back and forth as if looking over the booth in confusion, waiting for her to explain.

She still seemed fretful, but this time, she seemed to understand that he actually wanted to play, not to chit chat, and explained to him the rules of the game, which sounded pretty simple.

Pulling off his helm, Brute set it down on the booth. He then stretched out an arm so that he could pick up the flute, still not quite used to the extra length of his new humanoid appendages, his fingers wiggling for a moment before he grabbed ahold of the object and than tucked it in near, his elbows going to his chest as he lifted the musical instrument to his lips for an experimental blow.

It whistled! Feelings of pride with just a hint of delight swept through him, and shifting his fingers to new holes, he blew into the instrument again, and again, and again. Sometimes, the sounds that he brought forth were wonderful, shrieking, high pitched, teeth grating noises that reminded him of his mother when she was in a rage. Other times, the music was soft, melodious, and completely awful. Obviously, the snake did not like it much either, as it jolted around inside of it's basket at these times, even going so far as to peek it's head out at Brute near the end, likely because it thought to slither away and hide from the sound.

Feeling like maybe he should give the snake it's peace, he set the flute back down, stood up, and grabbed his helm to place it back on his head. This had been interesting, but not really his idea of fun.

Look who he found! It was Professor Selene, the student in house uniform (luckily not shirtless) greeted the lady with big grin. The booth seemed to be built in haste, compared to other students' booths, it looked tasteless and boring. "Hi Professor, how're you lately?" It was some normal conversation, he didn't understand why her eyes began to water and hiss like a snake. "P-Professor? Are you okay" He tried again but to no avail.

The said Professor hid under her hood and refused to talk, pointed at the basket. "You....want me to try the flute?" The flute shaped like a trumpet, with six holes on it. AJ had never see the object before but he tested it by releasing the hole at the bottom and blew. Meanwhile, the tail head which had better primitive instincts sensed the existence in the basket approached itself to the basket and stared at it. Once the sound was made, the tiny movement by the tiny creature inside was caught by the tail head. "Something, something was inside!"

"Oh, let's see if we can tempt the little thing out then." The boil fiddled with the flute, blowing and covering holes randomly as he did so. The melody was off beat and it made an awful high-pitch noise. "Hmm, that's not easy." He tried again, only not stuffing the second hole counting from bottom and blew a note, then he moved to cover the second hole but releasing the seal on the third hole above it and made a second note. Similarly, he listened to all the single sound each hole made to grasp a general idea before he blew at the basket.

He did it slow, let the flute play a melody he never hear. It was different, not a clear note, but more like humming or chime, a vibration that extended outward. The basket reacted to the hums, it shook slightly and as if waiting to hear more, the shaking quieted. Then AJ released the hold on some upper holes to create a high-pitch that it jolted, giving a steady beat of movement. He didn't do it well, some off-beat shrieks at abrupt moment, some super low short feeble souffles. It didn't really make a lovely consistent melody until later, tail head would feel the slithering of the little thing inside the basket as AJ moved the flute in circle.

Towards the last few long hums, the little thing finally peeked a head out the gap of the basket to look at them. Once the flute stopped, it hid back in the dark area of the basket. "Such a sssssshy cutie, we won't harm you." He tried to sound more credible.

Quite exhausted from carving the iceblock, Mahlan tried to search anything that can be snacked for refreshment on the booths-umm, that's a rather familiar face...Professor Selene?

"Yo professor, wat'cha doin here? I thought snakes aren't comfortable with the cold?" she greeted cheerfully- the professor was not giving any reply but some snake-ish hisses on low tone. Well, there's nothing to do else but to try and play the game?

She was handed a crudely-made flute and instructed to blow on it to charm the snake lying inside the basket. Oh, is this 'that' kind of game?

There's already boils trying to lure the snake out, some just blew at the flute with brute force, producing ear-piercing note. Some, having more sense, played the flute five notes at a time, and observed the reaction from the snake basket. Should she try that way?

Fwoo Fwee Fwee Fooo Fweet!

Thunk. There's a small movement from the basket. Did she managed to play a correct note?

Let's try it again...

Fweet Fwoot Fooo Fooo Fooo~

*rustle* *rustle* Hrmm, there's another movement. But she didn't know which note that made the snake reacted...hrmm.

Fooo Fwoo Fwoot Fweet Fwoo.

*zrrrrrk* There's even more movement inside the basket. Mahlan can hear the sound of scales being rubbed against the pot. Alright, time to finish this!

Fweet Fooo Fwoo Fweet Fwoo!

Plop! The lid was opened, and a small, cute snake popped its head, dancing with the tunes. From here on it's improvization! Mahlan keeps playing notes until Selene took her flute because the poor snake has wiggled too much.

Keen had not really been doing much this year, and to amuse herself she decided she was going to head to the snake charming booth. Seeing the poor stressed teacher she shrugged a little, and being silent herself picked up the flute.

The objective seemed easy enough, she was to play the flute and see if the snake liked the sound of it. If it did the snake would come out of the basket. With a small nod the banshee lifted the flute to her lips and started to play. The first note sounded sweet and the basket wriggled a bit, showing that there was indeed something inside of it. That was good, it would have been terrible had it been an empty basket.

With the second note, the pale banshee found the basket to be even more lively, jiggling around as if something was waking up and was interested. She had the snake's attention and had to keep going.

Third note, the snake jiggled the lid of the basket, she could barely see that the snake was working it's way out, if she kept going she just may get the snake to come out. She was more determined than ever to make this work.

Final note, the snake popped out and wriggled, it's small tongue darting out to taste the air. Keen smiled and lowered the flute, petting the snake on the head softly as she whispered a greeting. She had done it, snake charming seemed fun.

Oh a snake charming booth! Amy looked to the nervous looking snake Goulman and smiled before looking to the flute and the basket, picking it up and playing the first note, nearly jumping when the basket shook just a little. did that mean she was making progress? Well, perhaps she should keep going then? She was tempted to ask the snake instructor if this was okay, but the poor thing looked like she was ready to explode from nerves so mayyybe that wasn't the proper thing to do.

She played the second note, smiling when the basket shook even more. Seems like she was playing all the right notes! She almost lost it for a second when she played the third note, seeing a small green little head peeking out at her. The tiny snake was so adorable and she really just wanted to take it back with her so it could keep Mindy company. "Hello there green cutie~ Can you come out for me please? I just want to see you~" She could've sworn she heard a small meep before the snake hid its self again, making Amy pout a bit, preparing herself to try and play once again. Maybe if she poked at it with one of her vines? A small vine poked out, cautiously moving towards the basket. Amy looked around for the professor, just in case it wasn't okay, but she saw that she was too busy trying to hide from the world.

Why become a professor if you were this shy? It just didn't make any sense to her. Granted, she was more than a little shy herslef, but not so much that it threw her in a bind if she had to talk to someone. She felt for the ghoulman, really she did. Her vine slowly lifted the basket and slithered inside, feeling around for the sake. She didn't find it, but instead it found her vine, biting it when it came too close to its person. "OW!" well that wasn't nice now was it? Amy sighed and sat down to play some more, her sulking vine slowly wrapping itself around her waist in an attempt to get more attention from the ghoul that was currently trying to charm the heck out of a baby snake who just peeked a bit more and quickly slipped back in the basket when it felt Amy's excitement. The Plant ghoul glared and huffed....

She almost had him dang it...

The fourth and final note was played, a tiny yet cute snake popped out of the basket, greeting her with a friendly hiss. Amy found the display to be rather cute and moved in to pet the snake, grinning like an idiot when it wrapped itself around her arm like one of her vines did. Oh she wished she could take the snake home! But alas, she could not, so she set the snake back into the box, trying to decide what she had to do without asking the poor professor over there. Did she just pick a prize and leave? Or....

Amy took a look at the minipets before her and simply picked up one of the red ones since the color matched her hair.

Nice!

Feeling bored since the booths are basically the same as yesterday, Mahlan decided to drop again to Professor Selene's booth. Since this day's quite sunny, maybe today the snakish lady would be feeling better...

Or so she wished. Compared to yesterday the booth were a little more organized, but there's little to no real difference save from few addition of new snake-filled pots here and there. Oh, was it a bamboo screen? Also, the professor looks quite bothered by the boils who continued to blow the flute with reckless abandon. Even if she don't know the precise notes to charm the snake, the high-pitched notes are too hard on her ears. "Alright you boils, stop it! Can't you see the prof's bothered? Gimme that-" growled Mahlan, snatching one of the flute for herself to play.

ZRRRKKKK, she dragged off one snake-filled pot with her tail, also gesturing for the other boils not to crowd too much around. She already did this yesterday, so the basics are already known to the grumpy plant spirit.

Fwoo Fweet Fwoo Fwee Fwaa! She played a set of five notes and stopped to look at the pot's reaction...nop, no response. Maybe her fingers are at wrong positions? Mah tried to remember which fingers goes at which hole yesterday.

Fwaa Fwii Fwee Fwaa Fwee! Thump! The pot lid was knocked by something within the jar. Alright, She's doing it good!

Fweet Fweet Fwii Fwoo Fwee! Thump! Another jolt shook the lid. The surrounding boils are now excited to see Mahlan doing it right...well, let's finish this shall we?

Fwee Fwoo Fwoo Fwoo Fwoo~

...
No, there's no movement from the jar. Did she failed? The surrounding crowd started to sigh and disperse--Thud thud thud-CLANK.

"Now the show's on, lil' fella." Mahlan grinned at the snake appearing from the pot, now hissing back at her. The excited crowd lets out a cheer, and Mah continued to make the snake dance...until the Professor said it was enough (again).

Amy was back at the snake charming booth once again, trying to see how quickly she could charm the snake now that she knew what she was doing. The plant ghoul smiled at the nervous professor, who simply hid her face and pointed to the snake basket. She really wanted to figure out why she was so shy...She was quite pretty. Maybe next time, she didnt want to be responsible for the professor having a panic attack or something like that.

She sat down in front of the basket, using one of her vines to grab the flute she would be using. Slowly, she began to play the first note, smiling at the movement in the basket already. This was a good thing yes? The second note was played and the snake peeked out before going back in the basket. The third note made him sit up with the basket top on his head, which made her laugh hard as she played the fourth note, the snake shook the basket top off, swaying slightly with the music.

Amy smiled and gently pat the snake on its head, walking up to grab her prize: A brown mini pet this time. "Thank you professor~" She missed the nervous fumbling as she moved on to the next booth.

Shiki had been hearing noises from this location all day yesterday, and finally got up the nerve to look now that things had gone silent.

Picking up the flute on the stand he twiddled around with it, finally putting it to his lips to play a little tune, having no idea what he was supposed to do.

So amused by the sound coming from the flute was the kitsune, that he didn't realize the effect it was having on the basket. The first note didn't do much, and so he twittered away contently.

The second note made the basket tremble and he glanced out of the corner of his eye confused, but not too sure what had happened.

It was the third note that made him turn and look at the basket full on, the sound from the flute low and a bit cut off as he saw the lid shift.
