The New Lord of the Wild
He had grown tired of the devastation. Each and every time he would tell others..help them...on how to restore the Wild. Neglect would either come his way or total disregard. That was his new title, given to him by his predecessor, the fallen god Pan. The constant wars had broken him, despite his best intentions to remain confident. Where he faltered, however, she strengthened him through false revelations. She was known as Gaea.
The Mother Titan had Grover's best interests at heart. The world needed nature to thrive and eventually one way or another, he would see it. It was a shame it took her defeat for Grover to understand. In her passing, however, she passed on a final message and a final inheritance to the abundance of nature, which slowly began to corrupt him. He took her advice and first sought out the forgotten children.
They were forgotten because Pan had faded, the gods deeming him dead two millenniums ago. Pan attempted to use what was last of his energy by doing the only natural things gods and goddesses did: produce demigods. There were many sired throughout the years, their attempts to preserve nature given to them naturally. It worked for a little while, but Pan awaited the faithful Satyr who would eventually take his place. Before he finally faded, three demigods were made, one under his Roman counterpart Faunus, the middle of Innu and the last of Pan. Three children to represent his different incarnations and now Grover had the task of finding them.
He did his best to be their new father, but they were full of hatred having learned the truth and the hardships they had to endure alone as a demigod. Why had the gods done nothing to find them even though they promised Percy they would recognize all demigods? They secretly prayed out for retribution but their prayers went to Grover, who had the task of being the new Lord of the Wild. Influenced by Gaea, his power grew and so did the corruption.
He was not seen for years, not by his now wife Juniper and not by his best friends, Annabeth, the immortal daughter of Zeus Thalia and most importantly, Percy. His dominion over animals, from the extinct to the monsters, grew and his blessings onto the children fueled their own power. When he finally returned, the nature spirits did not wish to receive them because the corruption was clear as day. Grover had grown to 8 feet, his horns longer than any stags on the Earth. The children wore cloaks and masks, though all four had eyes golden bronze like fire. The Satyrs, Naiads and more fought their hardest, but the new Lord of the Wild exerted his dominance with just one scream. One scream that sent them bowing in awe to his and their might. This roar did not go unnoticed. All the gods and goddesses heard it, particularly those whose capabilities dealt with nature. It reminded them of Pan and Gaea, yet it was different all the same.
They continued to move under the radar, nearing the realms of gods and goddesses alike, particularly the minors. They reasoned with them considerably well, some like the goddess Circe and Eris, aligning themselves to their cause just because it was in their name as a god and goddess to cause mischief and chaos. Demeter however, was no fool. She was powerful on her own like any god and goddess would, but she saw this army and witnessed those who joined. She warned Olympus yet they turned a blind eye to it for the time being. She then turned to Hades, her detestable in law.
The four eventually arrived to the Underworld hoping to barter with the powerful god. He refused but soon would regret it. Where Hades believed he had power in controlling the undead, Grover proved to be powerful in controlling the spirits of those long dead, the male bending not just the Harpies and Furies under Hades command to his will, but also all beings that were dead who were connected to the nature of the Wild. Soon this army began to turn on itself and Hades, Persephone, Demeter and his son Nico were forced to flee, though greatly weakened. One of the Big Three had fallen and his control to the dead was bestowed unto the eldest child of Faunus.
As done before, Atlantis came under attack by the old gods and monsters. This time however, minor gods and goddesses joined the fray. Unlike Hades, Poseidon was able to warn Olympus and his son Percy. The renown hero left Annabeth and their son at Camp Halfblood and rushed to aid his father and brothers, Tyson and the Prince of Atlantis. If Percy thought seeing his father tired before was worse, nothing could prepare him for this. This underwater army was reduced with relative ease in a fight that lasted for weeks. Poseidon was spent and what remained of his army was held up in the castle fortifying their remaining defenses. They broke in with the horned lord leading them.
Percy was shocked to see it was his friend. The male attempted to reason with him, but his mind was long gone. All he could see was the restoration of the Wild and Percy could either join this cause or die. Not recognized Grover anymore, he drew Riptide and went to war. Like the underworld, Atlantis fell. Poseidon was not gone, but he was weakened into sleep and Percy? He was lost in the sea. Rachel Elizabeth Dare, the new Oracle of Delphi saw it. She had to warn both Camp Jupiter and Halfblood in case Olympus had not already. To the bloodthirsty youngest, the child of Innu, the dominion over the nature under the sea belonged to him.
The gods that remained on Olympus felt it was time to grant Grover council. He was too much a threat to be ignored. When he arrived however, he arrived with an assault, his lust for power growing suffocatingly wild. This assault was not just for Olympus. The three children led the assault from the underworld and the sea out onto Camp Halfblood and Camp Jupiter and parts of America. Olympus was just the distraction.
There were casualties on both sides on Earth. Some mortals and demigods had become feral and different from Grover's infection out into them, making more join his cause blindly. The attacks came from both sides and soon, Camp Halfblood and Camp Jupiter found themselves back to back in the center of America. The army had yielded for the time being however. The gods in Olympus had fended off Grover's light assault, but the damage below was done already. Poseidon, Hades, Persephone and Demeter were unheard of. Artemis and her hunters were weakened from the fights on Earth. Even Hestia, The Last Olympian, had stepped into the fray, recognizing the threat to the hearth, the camps. The children were never seen and with the gods distracted and unable to determine anymore other than their own, whose children were sired, the enemy could very well be within this new camp being rebuilt by the children of Athena. To make matters worse, the Satyrs and Centaurs, some of the beings who dwelled in the camps, could no longer be determined as friend or for. Amid each camp fighting with each other, never truly had the stakes been high. The Earth and what remained of Olympus had to be fought for. The armies were now at a stalemate, but one could easily gain the advantage over the other at any moment.
One thing was for certain, Grover was not at full power, nor were the demigods, despite their recent accomplishments. When Pan bestowed his gifts unto Grover, he received the majority of it. However, he did not receive it all. In order for him and this army to rise to the fullest and claim dominion over the mortals on their world, he needs Percy and Annabeth to complete the ritual. Despite Percy's fatal flaw of loyalty, he chose to fight for the right cause. Now he was lost in the sea. Annabeth is kept hidden at the camp somewhere but presumed dead to most. Chiron and Dionysus now task the demigods, knowing some of them could very well be the children of Pan out on quests that could help save Earth and perhaps Grover of this ill fate. May the gods and goddesses help them if they were to fail.
