 With the holidays successfully behind them, and black friday a distant, chaotic memory, Tough and his siblings found themselves stuck with... quite a deal of work. The bakery had gotten quite destroyed during the rush. Towers of pots, covered in gunky dough in one corner, pans with grease from baking in another, and too many bowls half filled with frosting to count. Tough wasn't looking forward to cleaning this.. But then again, was anyone every looking forward to cleaning the kitchen?
He used his magic to pick up bowls, setting them in orders of dirties to cleanest, the ones that would need the most work to the least. It was going to be an exhausting endeavour, that was for certain.Yushika i s1g I am the slowest sorry yushi ;m;

 Sugar Petal never minded helping out at the bakery. While baking wasn't quite her thing, she always did enjoy the time spent with her family. Well, usually. It wasn't often when they had such a daunting mess to clean, but Sugar Petal had promised to help. The sound of dishes clattering had drawn her from her sweeping, hooves setting the broom down as she decided to help whoever it was who was taking on the terrible task of the dishes.
"Tough Talker?" She called as she spotted familiar colors. The little filly approached, nodding to the dishes at hand. "Do you want help?"

Tough looked from the pots. They were being assorted nicely, but it was clear that this wasn't going to help much... After all it was exhausting to sort them, how much worse would it be to clean them? He was contemplated making this into a two day ordeal (would that be allowed?) when a familiar voice caught his attention.
Turning, he gave his sister a rare smile, "Well if it's not too much trouble, Sugar Petal... I wouldn't mind. There's a lot to do. And some of this is just..." There was a bowl that had been melded together with another bowl by icing and black magic. Perhaps more black magic than icing.
"If you can offer a hoof that'd be grand," He clarified with a nod.

Sugar Petal's ears flicked up at the smile, head cocking to the side. It wasn't often he offered such a gesture. Most likely he had been super stressed over the dishes. Nodding, her eyes followed his, spotting the pot. She quickly shoved it in the back of her mind; they could get to that last!
"Alright." She confirmed before trotting up to the sink, carefully using her magic to bring a pot down to her. She hadn't quite mastered it yet... but she was slowly getting there. Slowly. Very slowly. She got to scrubbing, gritting her teeth as the hardened icing seemed to put up a fight. Silence filled the air before she broke it, a curious tone in her next words.
"Hey, what do you want to be when you grow up?"

Even if both phonies had fallen quiet, Tough found himself liking scrubbing pots immensely better when there was someone else in the room... Well not just anyone. If it had been Da or Ma, he might've been nervous or uncomfortable. But Sugar Petal was sweet and earnest and her companionship made him relax even more as he focused on removing particularly sticky batter.
"Huh?" The question surprised him. Blinking, he thought for a moment before speaking softly, "I want to be a tutor, like Da... But I don't know what I want to teach just yet. Something useful. What about you? What do YOU want to do when you grow up?"

Ah, so he had it all figured out. Or, well, most of it. The filly sighed, going back to scrubbing before answering. What did she want to be as a grown up? She had asked him mostly because, well, she was hoping he'd be as lost as she was. Find some comfort maybe in the fact they were lost together. Yet, what did she expect? He took so much after their father.... their dad probably was born knowing his purpose! She shrugged absently, scrubbing just a bit harder in frustration.
"I don't know." She finally admitted, ears swiveling back against her head. "At all. I keep thinking I have it figured out, but then I.... don't. Maybe I'll never know. Do you think that happens? That there are phonies out there who never found out their purpose? What happens to them?"

It surprised Tough to hear that Sugar Petal had no idea what she wanted to do when she grew up. After all, Sugar seemed the most put together and sweetest of the bunch. The most adult of the siblings. Maybe that was why she was having so much difficulty?
He slowed his scrubbing and hummed softly, "I don't think it does, and I don't think you will be without a purpose. That doesn't make sense." He dunked the bowl back into the vat of warm water, hoping it would help ease some of the plaster-esque frosting from its iron hold, "What is it you had wanted before? Clearly, if you had it figured out at one point, you must have SOME ideas."

The filly shrugged softly, lost in her own thoughts. Had she figured it out before? Her mild panic had blocked any memory of doing so, but maybe she had, at some point. Maybe she had just doubted herself and lost it. Her teeth nibbled at her lip as she finished cleaning her current pot, placing it to the side before grabbing another one. Would he laugh at her potential thoughts about her future? Had he ever laughed at her? Tough Talker had always been honest with her... and he had never been the type to mock her.
"I thought I wanted to grow a garden and sell flowers." She answered, finally, a nervous tone to her voice. "But, I don't think that's quite what I want... I want to grow flowers, but not just to sell in bundles.... I want to make something from them, but I'm not sure what..." Her mind briefly drifted, remembering how Lavender Lemon had made an entire cake out of the lavender she had given her. Something like that. Something that made people smile and gather together to enjoy her flowers.

Tough hummed in acknowledgement, listening to his sister's explanation.
"So it's not like you have no idea, you're just not sure how to implement your idea," Tough's voice sounded far away as he thoughtfully scrubbed at the bowl, "Growing flowers, but not selling flowers themselves... Making something out of them."
After a few more minutes of washing, Tough spoke again, "What about making potpouri or perfume? Or perhaps pressing flowers and making cards with them? You could also possibly bake with them? I've heard some plants are edible... Grow your own flowers and make delicious things."

She tossed her head thoughtfully side to side, sighing. Maybe he was right. She did have something figured out.... but suddenly it frightened her. Was she ready to figure out what she wanted to be yet? And, when did this become about her? She never was much into talking about herself, though she did appreciate her brothers help.
"Maybe...." She thoughtfully hummed, flicking her ears back. Suddenly, they flicked upwards as she perked up, head tilting to the side.
"Do you think there's anymore left over ingredients? We could make something; just for ourselves! It could be a little reward after we get through this mess." Her eyes wandered to the.... massive pile of dishes. Oh man. What had they signed up for?!

"Anymore ingredients?" Oh, something for themselves. Tough broke into a grin, clearly onboard with this idea. It seemed perfect. They could definitely treat themselves.

She beamed as he seemed to take well to her idea, scrubbing even harder. The faster she finished this the faster they'd get to make something just for themselves!
It probably was a full hour before they were done, and Sugar was exhausted. Her hooves ached and she had drained the last of her ability to maintain her magic properly. She sat beside the sink, rubbing little hooves together as her brother finished the last pot. Still, they had done it, and together! It probably would have taken him even longer by himself!

Oof... Talk about sore hooves. Tough noticed how Sugar Petal was rubbing her hooves together and laughed softly. His mood was much happier and perkier than normal. Hard work perhaps? Or was it just nice to enjoy the companionship of his family? For all the bark that the little phony had, there was really little bite. When it came to his siblings, there was even less bite (except maybe when it came to Wildflour but that was for another story).
Like Sugar, his magic was depleted, andwhen he tried to lift the pot out of the sink, the aura around it sputtered and poofed, causing the clean dish to clatter back into the sink harmlessly, but rather noisily. Wincing, he picked it up the old fashioned way and set it to the side.
"We're done!" It felt like quite the triumphant achievement. Smiling broadly, he shook his hooves off and yawned, "I need a nap now..."

She flinched at the sound, jerking backwards and knocking into the stool haphazardly. Done! They could rest! The little filly let out a loud, satisfied sigh. Hard work, yes, but it had been worth it. She felt like she had accomplished something today, for once. That, and seeing Tough Talker not so.... rigid was nice. She wasn't sure really what Tough Talker was, honestly. They rarely spent time together, and when she did see him he was usually arguing with Wildflour in the background. It had been nice, really, to spend the evening with him. Even more so now that he seemed strangely happy. She couldn't help but allow her face to bloom into a hesitant smile.
"A nap and a warm bed." She agreed softly, brushing her hooves off on a towel. "Next time we shouldn't get dish duty." She added. Someone else could experience this horror next time!

Tough groaned in agreement, his poor hooves aching something fierce, "How about we take a nap then? Later we can make goodies."
Yawning, he stretched out his body and smiled again at Sugar Petal, "Thanks for the help... If you ever need someone to talk to, or someone to go beat up some jerk, I'm here for you. You're my sister, after all."
Yushika I don't think so! It's magiseykitty Do you think this is a good place to stop?
