Profile:
Saigen's default is tepid. Believing himself to be a true neutral, Saige sits on the fence with most issues, seeing both the pros and cons. Making concrete decisions can be difficult for him, as he likes to go with the flow and keep an open mind for changes or the unexpected. Its good to be prepared, after all. He can adapt to situations and trolls, keeping a level head. At times, his inability to pick sides can cause him to come off as apathetic and unsupportive.
Socially, Saige isn't the most outgoing troll and his humor tends to be deadpan, but he doesn't necessarily mind the company of others or being approached. Personality of another troll doesn't matter much to determine his usual responses, but if things begin to turn sour his automatic is to turn away, even mid conversation.
Internally, Saige wants to help others improve and feels a great deal of empathy, but has difficulty finding the motivation to really do anything and is unsure how to process his feelings. The idea of having to maintain and put forth effort into relationships makes him uncomfortable. So much work.
Saigen's position on the hemospectrum puts him in a bystander role, where avoiding highblood prejudice and receiving government handouts comes easy. Ultimately, he has been living a comfortable lifestyle for a high tier midblood and hasn't faced many situations where he would think the hemospectrum to be an absolute negative concept. Like most things, he likes to play devil's advocate and weigh in on the pros and cons, though usually to himself. However, his lusus enforces and reassures its not his place to question as much as he really wants to. Saige would honestly rather display his symbol as hemoanon to avoid impending responsibility, the real factor here, however his lusus absolutely refuses, as she sees their shared teal as a status symbol.
Saige really loves sleep and will find any opportunity to do so, much to his lusus' chagrin. If he's not hiding out in the supor slime of his recupricoon sleeping the night away, he'll lay around here and there around the hive in places where he cannot be found to lull off in a meditative state. Even outside of the hive, Saige will find any excuse to close his eyes and enjoy a hazy stupor, like on the ground in parks, on the train, even somewhere bizarre at other troll's hive. He values peace and quiet, but it is not unlikely that he will zone out in public commotion if he's just done.
Inside his respiteblock, Saige has quite an impressive collection of comics and books on various subjects. He reads quite frequently, even carries around his current muses in a shoulderbag. Most of the information he absorbs is considered by himself for practical use, but majority of it is a lot of useless trivia he likes to relay to other trolls. Trashy quadrant-centric novels that Saige considers to be masterpieces also occupy his shelves. Even with the questionable content in them, he will often recommend them to his friends and even strangers and insists they're true art of literature.
Saige also likes to dabble into writing in all forms, more specifically poetry and fanfiction of some of the comics he reads. His poetry tends to be obscure and (will be denied) excessive with angst and melancholy, making very little sense to those who read. He takes great pride in his work and won't hesitate to indulge anyone who takes even the slightest sliver of interest.
Similarly, Saige's one hobby that he will get up for is close combat, particularly with blades. Believing in the importance of both body and mind, he studies about techniques often, and while right at this moment he is physically awkward and clumsy with very little strength, the tealblood is quite knowledgeable on the subject and can give decent feedback.
Saige's favorite food is pb&j sandwiches and will eat anything with peanut butter in it. Sometimes, a jar and a spoon suffices as a meal.
Strengths:
Forbearing
- Saigen has an incredible threshold of patience. Rarely will he ever raise his voice or display hostility; he has an easygoing disposition. Other trolls can poke and prod at him as much as they like, but more than likely he'll remain in a calm state. This doesn't mean he doesn't become aggravated or displeased, but it takes a lot for him to show or act on it.
Information Sponge
- Its no doubt Saige has a great memory. From what history text he can get his hands on, to documentaries on the daytime fauna. Socially, he can be quick with picking up information about another troll if he's interested enough, and he'll remember conversations and images that happen a number of months or sweeps ago.
Inclusive
- Despite his indifferent moods, Saige has a small soft spot for trolls that are overlooked. He will go out of his way to not allow other trolls to use another as a doormat. Even if he might seem disinterested, he will always allow others to finish their sentences and get their thoughts across, believing everyone should have their word considered. While this might not always mean he will actually consider their words, he will at least have them convinced of this. Saige also will rarely withhold information and is entirely honest with his opinion, believing honesty is best policy.
Flaws:
Critical
- Unfortunately, Saige's honesty can be a bit detrimental to his relationships. His judgment is one of his worst qualities and his comments can be quite insensitive. Believing himself to be helping, he often times just comes off as some nitpicking old man with something to say about anything wrong. Unfortunately, any kind of rebut to his "constructive" criticism will be heard and perhaps considered for a moment, but it will go right over his slouched shoulders and thought to be as them unable . Any troll who disagrees clearly doesn't want to improve.
Indolent
- Getting Saige to do any kind of physical labor is like pulling teeth. When he doesn't want to do something, he won't, even if bribed or coaxed. His lusus nearly has to drag him out of his recuperacoon every night. He will find a way out of any kind of responsibility, particularly anything that requires physical effort. If he can't get out of it, the tealblood will go at his own, usually extremely sluggish, pace to draw it out as long as possible.
Pessimistic
- Seemingly more apathetic than anything, Saige actually tends to lean towards a very negative outlook and has already accepted a lackluster life and his inevitable (and most likely painful) death. He is in a frequent state of unhappiness, and ensures others around him are aware of this by voicing his complaints. These complaints are usually masked through sarcasm and carefully executed verbal jabs, as he won't outright blurt out his angsty feelings. There is always a goal just outside of reach; nothing is ever good enough. So what's the point in trying?
Weapon: Dual Katana
Appearance: image to da right ---->
Tired, drooping eyes. Shaggy hair. Sometimes wears a beanie. i know the symbol thing on the shoes should be on the inside........
Home: Civisect City. A moderate townhouse near enough to be in reach of the main city, but far enough to be situated in a quiet neighborhood. The hive is pristine clean and perfectly decorated; Tani takes very good care of the carpets. Saige's respiteblock, however, is very cluttered.
Lusus: Nagging and strict, Tanukimom, or often refereed to as Tani, is a medium sized lusus, standing just about 3 feet tall. She resembles a Japanese racoon dog with fluffy white fur, large ears, and grey markings on her face, but stands on her hind legs, using her very large and fluffy tail for balance. She is often wearing a ruffly apron. Her relationship with her charge is all about making sure to keep him in line and uphold the standards of their hemoclass, while also taking care of a lazy boy! High with energy, Tani Tani can be a bit of an opportunist, having absolutely zero shame in harassing others into giving her what she wants, or more importantly, what Saige wants. Doing what is best for her him comes first. Saige finds this kind of behavior a nuisance.
Despite finding his lusus' continuous carping and nagging troublesome, Saigen feels deeply protective of her. He recognizes her attempts to maintain a bond with him and wanting what is best for him, so he tries to tolerate what he can. When she's in a panicked frenzy, his first inclination is to try to find a solution to the problem first to calm her down. He cares a great deal for his lusus, despite wanting to consistently be away from her.
