Hobbies: Playing the Ruan: Ayane enjoys playing the Ruan (specifically the Zhongruan), a traditional instrument passed down to her from her mother. It is a family heirloom, having belonged to the eldest female child of the family for many generations. Ayane practices often, anywhere she can, be it in public or at school, and she can often be found with her Ruan in her lap, having either just finished practicing or just about to begin. The Ruan being a precious family heirloom, she is loathe to let anyone touch it, but if they are trusted, she will let them hold it provided she is present to mitigate any potential damage.
Games of Chance: Ayane loves to gamble, she'll place a bet on just about any game of chance she can play. She's more partial to dice games than any other form of game, but she'll give them all a shot if she has the opportunity. Her bets can be money or favors, but she’s usually all about letting fate decide. She prefers to call her own bets - but she’ll take whatever wager is placed down usually. She does have a limit as to how far she’ll be willing to go in the name of chance.
Tea: Being the eldest daughter of the family, it is very important for Ayane to be able to show the proper courtesies to guests, so she quickly learned to love tea and the ceremonies that pertain to them. She's not one to do a full ceremony unless it's a formal meeting, but she's quick to offer guests refreshment if they enter her home.
Virtues:Affectionate: Ayane is very affectionate to those she considers her friends. While she's not one to run across a room and tackle them as soon as they come in the door, she will make it known that she demands a hug every time she sees them - and it is up to them to deliver. She enjoys being close to her friends, and it's not surprising to see her fall asleep against someone's shoulder if she trusts them and the night is wearing on.
On my Honor: Ayane feels driven to take care of her friends and those she feels have the honor of serving under her in some fashion. If she makes someone a promise, she will uphold it, unless circumstances make such a promise impossible. She looks out for those "under" her as a mother would, taking care of their needs, but not afraid to "chastise" them if they are acting out of turn. This mindset can get her in trouble at times if others feel she is talking down to them. In her mind, she is just fulfilling her responsibilities to those around her, she doesn't even consider if they might be offended by her actions. She will chastise people for actions she herself does - as she doesn’t really quite believe in the whole “leading by example” thing. Should her honorability come into question (like being called a liar or a cheater or anything like that) be prepared to face the full brunt of her wrath. Ayane cannot stand her honor being calling into question and will fight to prove she's honorable.
Hardworking: Ayane works hard in anything she does. She likes to throw her whole effort into projects. As the oldest daughter of the Kotone family, she’s required to be the best at everything she does - and the only way she knows how to do that is to work super hard at anything she does. Failure is not tolerated - at all. She has to strive and achieve so that one day she too can join the family business and help the family achieve even greater success.
Flaws: Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: Ayane tends to act demure and innocent around authority figures. Doing her best to not get in trouble and playing up any preconceived notions of her inability to do anything "bad" or mischievous. However, when said authority figure(s) leave, all bets are off, and she will do whatever she feels like doing - even if it means breaking the rules to do it. She of course, will attempt to act innocent and coy and make all efforts to shift the blame off herself and her friends should she get caught, but it doesn't always work. She also tends to play coy and innocent when it comes to romantic encounters, only to show her true intentions later once it's clear the other party is interested.
Jealous: Ayane could almost be the living embodiment of the "green-eyed monster." If she thinks that her friend is paying attention to someone else more than her, she will become insanely jealous and attempt to get their attention back focused on her. It's even worse if she's in a romantic relationship - she will become extremely jealous of that person's time and will not back down until she is the center of their focus.
Powderkeg: Ayane's temper is a sight to behold. It can sometimes take quite a bit to spark her off, but once the fuse is lit there is rarely any stopping the rage-fit that is to follow. Screaming at the top of her lungs, threatening death and dismemberment is common, as is throwing and breaking things within arm's reach. It is generally advised to leave the immediate area when Ayane loses her temper at you, unless you're willing to ride the wave of her assault to it's conclusion when she collapses into a sobbing upset mess. Even then, it's still advised to wait until she's cooled off completely before either apologizing or speaking to her further, lest another round of rage ensue.
