The fading sunlight made the gold on his horns, hooves, and bracelets flash and sparkle. His pinions spread to their full span, Epsilon glided on the warm updrafts of air from the forest spread below him, his heavy tail held slightly aloft to avoid scraping against the treetops a few feet below his hooves. He was an odd mixture of an air, land, and sea creature. His bones were light enough, and his wings strong enough to carry his body in flight, but the weight of his tail prevented him from flying too high. His thick mane, as black as a raven's wing, streamed behind him like a banner. His bright red eyes were calm as they took in the sunset painting the sky with streaks of red, gold, blue, and purple.

Epsilon was feeling restless. He had left his family's home quite some time ago, he loved them, and they him, but the older he grew, the more he realized that they were quite different in too many ways to live together comfortably. He was no longer the odd, but adorable ball of fluff and feathers he had been as a foal. He was sleek, dangerous, seductive, and brimming with dark urges that had found no outlet as of yet. He wandered soquili, exploring lands and seeing people that most only heard of in stories. He had joined a herd called 'Underland' on a whim, feeling a strange connection to the catlike females who ruled there and an urge to protect them that he decided to follow. Until a strange, dark stallion had migrated into the forest near the herd. They called him the frumious snapper, and Serafima had found him and, quite predictably, had decided to 'paint him red.' Epsilon shook his head and smiled at the thought. It would have been harmless enough, the stallion had submitted willingly to her administrations, unfortunately neither of them had been aware that getting the paint off again would prove a more daunting task than either had predicted. Eventually the whole mess had been smoothed over, and Vorpal, for that was the creatures name, had joined the herd as well. Sort of. He lived in the woods nearby, the sisters assured him that he too was a former resident of wonderland. That was not really a good reason to trust him in Epsilon's opinion, but he served and protected, it was the sisters who made the decisions, and Irina wanted to use him to scare the locals away from the woods. Epsilon had decided to go meet this new shark in their moat and had been surprised and terrified to realize that the stallion he was looking at was his own sire.

Epsilon had never known either of his birth parents growing up, he still didn't really know them, and he had departed curtly after realizing Vorpal's relationship to him. If that stallion's blood ran in his veins, it explained a lot about himself. He'd decided to leave the herd for a while, just temporarily, to clear his head.

Banking left, Epsilon decided it was time to find a place to rest for a while before continuing. He planned to fly through the night, but his shoulders ached from giving his wings so much use. It had been a while since he had flown so far. Lowering himself, he suddenly was dragged to a teeth jarring halt as his long sinuous tail got caught in the fork of a branch. He crashed through the trees with a crash that resounded through the forest and landed on the ground with a loud thwump and a groan. He lay there for a moment, stunned, the breath knocked from his body, and cursed himself for a fool. It was a rookie mistake, and an embarrasing one at that. Groaning he pulled himself to his feet slowly and took stock of his injuries. Sprained wing, bent feathers, possibly broken tail, and bruises. Definitely a lot of bruises. He blinked the blood out of his eyes from a shallow split in his forehead. "Damn and blast!" He huffed in frustration, he couldn't fly like this and he had no idea how to find his was to help from within the forest, he would be lost within ten minutes.
