[Failed to Capture]
Raemos waited for his ship to board. They were remaining in the Serenian port far too long for Raemos's comfort – though he would have loved to stay in the land of light, goddess, he wanted to stay, but such a thing was not permitted of him. He did not belong here. Seeing the fear and confusion on the faces of the young Orderites as he'd saved them from the Mara, hearing the language his own superior used to describe him, he had learned that lesson well. In truth, it had always been clear to him. He had just simply not listened to reason. He needed to leave this port and complete his assignment, and not return to these blessed lands... for the safety of all.
He leaned anxiously against a tree. He wanted to go, soon, before his heart betrayed him and he somehow found a way to stay here, in the lighted land. But the boat was taking so long...
And that was when he heard it – the Olrawk's song. It was so beautiful, like the voice of a goddess. He looked up into brilliant eyes, feeling tears begin in his own as it sang again. The music coiled around his heart, and he knew that it was an Olrawk, a blessing from Seren to both her children and to the soulless monsters that opposed her. Raemos wept as it sang. “Oh, beautiful thing...” he whispered, “Will you come to me?”
He realized that he desired it for himself – would it not be a fitting pet? A beast that sang to you and soothed you when you needed comfort? This was surely the work of Seren herself - in her great kindness and mercy, she was gracing him, her eternal servant, with a creature who could ease the emptiness inside of him. It's voice could fill, even a little, the part of him that had been robbed at the moment of his birth. He wanted it.
“Or perhaps I will come to you.” he said, beginning to climb the tree. The bark was rough against his hands, and the armored Guardian uniform he wore restricted his movements, but he did not care how far he exerted himself – he wanted the bird.
It watched him, it's song stopping as it blinked, once, warily. And then it flew away, it's tail cracking like a whip as it took off from it's perch. Raemos reached the branch, disappointed. “Ah.” he said, after a moment of reflection, “I see.” He stared after it's retreating form, saddened. He bent his head in prayer. “Forgive me, my lady Seren...” he said, looking up sadly at the bright sky, “Forgive me for being too eager for your gifts, and for showing my fell greed to one of your creatures.” he wiped the tears from his face, closing his eyes sadly as he sat on the branch. “I'm sorry...” He leaned against the trunk in shame, “I should not have been so hasty, so disrespectful...” he held back the further tears that would come, though they would have been easily camouflaged against his dark, now tearstained face. “I truly... do not belong here...”
