Grunting and the sound of metal hitting wood resonated in the empty dojo. Empty except for the single figure practicing his kendo movements against a solid wooden dummy. But having been there for the past few hours, his footwork was getting sluggish, and strokes sloppy. "Ahhhh!" Frustrated at his own limitations, Masato yanked the men, the metal and cotton faceguard used in the sport, off of his head and threw it onto the tatami mats below. With a tired sigh, he flopped down onto the floor beside the mask and laid down. "Whip yourself into shape, Kuniro," he scolded, using one hand to push back his white locks from his forehead and another to wipe the sweat from his face. But at least it was quiet. It wasn't yet the first day of school, so no one had a reason to enter the dojo. No one but the club captain, of course.
ooc ;; not really sure what to do. short post just so that I get my guy out of limbo haha

❤ Location ↠[Kendo Dojo] ❤ Outfit ↠[Lolita] ❤ With↠[Some Boy] ❤ OOC ↠[Weeeeee He's not in Limbo] The bright blue sky had was such inviting weather, it saddened the small Bakeneko that she would have to miss out after today. Class would be starting up, and she would be spending most of her time studying and hopefully partaking in one of her favorite clubs, Kendo. Kendo has been part of Ania's life since she was a baby. Even though she was a Polish girl, and lived a Polish lifestyle growing up, she was always fascinated with what Japanese lifestyles consisted of, and when her Mama let her do Kendo, she was ecstatic.
Following the map she held in her hand vigorously, the neko rounded another corner and was glad when she find the old building sitting in a lone corner of the school. The Kendo building was beautiful, never in her life did she dream that she would ever see one up close and personal. Holding all the squeals she contained inside of her, she opened the door, peeking her head inside. The inside was vast, bigger than what it looked on the outside, it smelled of hard work and determination, and a little bit of sweat. Her eyes swept the room, taking in the beauty of the architect and decoration all around. Ania was surprised when her eyes fell onto a boy. She wasn't really expecting to see anyone here. It looked like most of the students had conglomerated in front of the school, making or reuniting with friends. So it didn't help when he cried out in anger and threw his men on the ground, scaring her enough to let out a soft 'eep'. Not sure if he was hurt or frustrated, she took a tempted step forward, enough for her body to be in the Dojo. Second guessing herself, Ania quickly turned around, not wanting to annoy or disrupt the boy, but instead of turning to face an open door, the girl walked face first into the door and then fell quickly onto her butt. "Nyah.. That hurt..." she mumbled rubbing her nose, her eyes tearing up slightly at the pain.

▎Lev slumped on a bench, lazily watching students as they congregated at the front gate. Had they nothing else to do? Such as unpack? Or get better haircuts? A particularly horrible one strutted by, seemingly attempting to show off its misdirected spikes and rock-hard, glossy locks. It was quite evident the boy had applied too much hair product, achieving a brittle look, a few strands popping out from the main stem of disgusting hair. Seriously, it's like they don't even care. That guy's hair isn't gelled the right way! And it's so obvious, too. He should stop trying. Lev sighed to himself. Men should really attend some kind of workshop to fix that. He shifted his position so that he sat with his head propped up with a hand, the cold leather refreshing to his skin. He eyed a girl, her eyeliner partially smeared down one cheek. Her blush was lopsided and her lip gloss had a thinner layer on one half of her mouth. What was this world coming to? Rising, Lev thought of where else he could go. People-watching had suddenly become depressing. Just then, he realized he had forgotten one of his lesser bows in the Kendo Club's dojo when he had visited the day before. I should go get it. Lev was through with being bored. He was actually glad class was beginning. Cosmetology was his passion, and not being able to freely learn and expand his knowledge on the subject was just a huge pain.
▎Thankfully, he had gotten losing his way around the campus done and over with a week ago; therefore, getting to the dojo was no feat. Maybe after retrieving his bow, he could shoot a few rounds at Archery's club room. Or maybe he would simply spar in the dojo with Masato. After all, the man was always there. Does he not have a life? Though what people did with their time wasn't his business. Shrugging, he swung the door open to reveal a small girl sporting cat ears. He knew he would encounter all kinds of creatures at this school, and from the past few weeks, he considered himself to be quite accustomed to this oddness. Presented with this little girl, he realized he had a lot of getting used to. The girl had a commendable way with her hair, Lev had to admit. At least one person at this school has a sense of fashion besides me. Based on his prior knowledge and the girl who was before him now, he assumed she must have been a in middle school. She had all the characteristics: a small button nose, round innocent eyes, and virtually no curves. Indeed, she must be in middle school.
▎Lev plucked the girl off the floor, setting her back down on her feet. ❝Ups-E-Daisy. You'll get dirty if you just sit on the floor like that,❞ Lev chimed, straining his voice to be as gentle as possible. Of course, he was no professional; there still remained a certain roughness. He had dealt with children before; none of them were exactly fond of his gruff way of speech. It sure was hard, being nice... He patted her clothes to get the dust off with his thickly gloved hands, his eyes searching for that sweaty little white-head, careful not to touch her hair. Her puny twin-tails were perfect the way they were. Only a monster would ruin them.

A sudden thud followed by a series of mumbled words pulled Masato's attention from the intricacies of the aging wooden ceiling above. Ah, another person without respect for the dojo, he thought to himself, tilting his head to observe the person who'd just barged in. "A neko? That's a new one," he murmured, pushing himself up off of the tatami mats. Oh how hard he worked to keep them in good order. Most failed to understand how hard he campaigned for the 39 (and a half) mat dojo. Keeping them clean was an adventure all on its own. We'll get the new kids to clean up after registration, he thought to himself, reaching over to grab his helmet. Just as he was about to head over to the girl, another, more familiar, face appeared through the rice-paper sliding door. It was Lev, kendo's vice-captain in times of need (such as that one time Masato had to go home for the festival last year).
Oh, and they were wearing their shoes.
"You two are ruining the tatami," Masato said, getting to his feet and walking toward the two. His bare feet padded lightly against the ground -- probably a bit too lightly, really. As human as he looked, the white-haired boy was in fact not of the same species as, say, that Lane kid. Rather, he was a smoke-creature known as the enenra. Without any innate weight, he relied on his abilities to mimic the same effects. Hence why he wasn't blown away with every gust of wind. "Shoes." Masato came to a stop before the pair and nodded toward the articles covering their feet. It was strange that Lev would forget, considering he was vice captain and all. At least for the unfamiliar girl, he could give her the benefit of a doubt.
"So what brings you two here?" He asked, resting the shinai (kendo sword) against his shoulder. The question was aimed in particular toward the unfamiliar girl, though it was surprising that Lev would make it here before lunch. Usually he was too busy with his cosmetology stuff (whatever that entailed. To be honest, Masato had thought Lev was a cosmotology major for the longest time.). "Masato Kuniro, by the way. Third year theology student and captain of the kendo team," he said to the blue-haired girl, slightly bowing in greeting. Despite being in England, the Japanese-style greeting didn't seem out of place at all. Though being in a traditionally-styled dojo certainly helped...

❤ Location ↠[Kendo Room] ❤ Outfit ↠[Lolita] ❤ With↠[Captain and some other guy] ❤ OOC ↠[X] Ania was embarrassed, not only was she already making a fool of herself, she was already causing trouble for other people. The boy he had just wandered in had picked her up with ease, helping her dust off any impurities on her clothes, weirdly careful of her hair. His voice though seemed kind of off when he was helping her... He could possibly be sick or something... she thought nodding as thanks.
As she was about to actually voice it, a voice called out, followed by light pattering on the mats, well if she could even call it pattering. Even though she had heightened senses, she was still able to pick it up, but only barely. Turning to follow the voice, she saw the boy who was working so hard coming towards them, saying something about there shoes on the mats. With a gasp, Ania dropped down to the floor, quickly removing her boots and attempting to wipe away any smuck she brought in with her. She knew in traditional Dojos, it was rude to wear shoes onto mats, and she couldn't believe that she would forget a rule. So much for first impressions. Standing back up, the white haired male finished introducing himself as the captain of the Kendo team.
"O-oh! I'm so sorry about the mats! M-my name is is Ania. Ania Maly. I'm actually here to join Kendo." Following suit, Ania bowed slightly, looking up through her eyelashes at her soon to be captain. She hoped that he didn't think to poorly of her. "I'm actually a First Year, studying in Music Management, but Kendo has been something I've loved for a very long time. So I hope you'll have me on your team!" she smiled warmly, her tail swaying slightly as one of her ears twitched gently. "Oh before I forget!" she turned to the boy who helped her, "Thank you so much for helping me up! I can be a sort of klutz sometime..." she blushed gently as she smiled looking down.

▎Lev gave her clothes one last pat as she nodded in thanks. Just when he was preparing to compliment her hair, Masato came to point out their shoes were dirtying the mats. ❝Whoops.❞ Bending down, he yanked each shoe off and tossed them outside somewhere. He'll find them later. How grateful Lev was that he had been born with only poisoned fingernails and his toenails were spared. It would've been terrible if all his nails were tainted, especially since he was the vice captain of the Kendo Club. Nonchalantly, he rubbed the grime off the tatami with his foot, proceeding to wipe that off on his pant leg. It didn't work too well. ❝Meh, whatever. Just get the new kids to clean this place after registration.❞ Upon addressing Masato, Lev's voice returned to its usual intimidating self, forgetting a child was present. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't particularly care whether or not he scared the living daylights out of someone; however, this girl proved to portray a sense of style, something that was quite rare among the girls attending Ashhaven. She was also primarily impressive in that she was so young and was so very skilled in hair.
▎The girl introduced herself as Ania Maly in response to Masato's question. Lev didn't pay much attention to her words until she stated that her major was Music Management. Middle school-ers don't have majors... Whoa, what? She's in college? His eye twitched as he watched her tail. Ashhaven sure was an odd school. Lev was somewhat shocked out of his thoughts at Ania's direct thank you. Not many people confront him to thank him. It was usually to slap his across the cheek for being a jerk, or to be punched in the face by some total stranger that he had somehow offended. Another thing about her that was new. ❝Uh, sure.❞ Lev walked passed Ania, not bothering to introduce himself as he answered Masato's question of why he was there. ❝And I'm here 'cause I forgot one of my bows yesterday. You didn't do anything to it, did you?❞ Grinning, he jokingly punched his white-haired friend in the arm as he strolled by, his eyes on the wooden bow in the far corner. Thank goodness it was still there. It may not seem like it, the way Lev simply groups them in a dreary space in his dorm room, but he cared greatly for his prized weapons.
▎Arriving before it, Lev swiftly grabbed it, proceeding to expertly inspect it. He brought it up to his face, tested the string, assumed the proper shooting position to test the curvature of the wood. He didn't trust anyone with his bows. Unless it was Masato. But who knew who else messed around in the dojo when the captain wasn't around? In Lev's mind, if it wasn't in his sights, there was always a chance that someone touched it. Once he was satisfied that the weapon was fine, he put his attention to his shinai laying beside it. A smile danced on his lips as a fun idea formed in his mind. Picking up the sword as well, he turned back to the captain and lifted it to show him. ❝Hey, want to go a few rounds?❞

Masato sighed as he watched the two quickly remedy their mistake. In all his time working in the kendo team, perpetrators always reacted in one of two ways -- profuse apologies or passive acceptance. In this instance, Lev and Ania displayed both possibilities, with Ania dropping to her knees to wipe and Lev just swiping his foot across the mats a few times. It went without speaking that the latter method was hardly effective, but as long as the tatami wasn't scratched, Masato in the mood to kick up a fuss. Unless real issues presented themselves, the sanctity of the dojo must be preserved.
"We're always accepting new recruits," Masato replied. "We look forward to having you on the team." A smile dangled on the corners of his lips. Her eager tone of voice wasn't particularly unexpected to the kendo captain; as one of the most popular clubs (and most successful Ashhaven teams), they frequently received a number of hopefuls throughout the school year. But no matter how many excited recruits they received, it was always a pleasure to get another. "Gotta catch 'em all," you know?
"...I'm here 'cause I forgot one of my bows yesterday. You didn't do anything to it, did you?"
Masato nodded toward the back corner, where he'd propped the bow up earlier to keep it out of reach from the cleaning crew. Really, they weren't supposed to be entering the dojo anyways, but there was always that one person who would miss the memo. "I was thinking about auctioning it off to the highest bidder, but I figured you might still want it," he said as Lev made a beeline straight for the wooden bow. Between the two of them, Masato and Lev headed both traditional Japanese sports teams (and were members of both as well). So even as the guy inspected every inch of the weapon, he could understand the interest. Were his shinai lost somewhere overnight, he'd do the same thing.
"I'm always game," he replied to Lev's proposal. "As long as you don't mind losing, of course." A smirk played across his lips as he brought his shinai down and passed it from hand-to-hand. "Feel free to watch, Ania. You'll be going against one of us sooner than you'd think." He was, of course, talking about the assessment every new recruit went through during their first practice. Most people thought that this assessment was a form of hazing (and it'd be a lie to say that wasn't entirely the case), but it was also their most efficient and effective way to determine skill levels and appropriately design training regimens based on that.
"Grab yourself a helmet," he said, stepping furthing into the dojo and putting on his own men. Because as exciting as a round or two can be, he's had to take a few too many injured teammates to the nurse's office, sporting busted lips and black eyes. Bamboo is a sturdy material, but it can certainly do some damage.

▎When Masato agreed to Lev's suggestion and commented on losing, he scoffed. ❝Hah! Lose? You wish, white-head!❞ And yes, he was referring to that pesky little white acne that one just can't help picking. It was a fond nickname; Lev has a strange way of showing affection. At the captain's advice that Ania watch, it reminded him of the assessments. He was excited for that; who would he be if he didn't enjoy picking at others' flaws and beating them to prove it? Gently tossing his bow to the side, well, as gently as one could throw something away, he slipped on the helmet, a bit irritated at how his hoodie blocked the thing's path. Ah, and he had fixed his hair perfectly that day... Though when it came to sports, he was always willing to ruin his looks. He shouted in a burst of rage at his clothes, tore off the head piece and stuck it under his arm. Unzipping his vest, he chucked it to land beside his bow. Sighing, he slipped the men back on. It was a tad bit loose, but it was much better than having the thing tilted forwards the entire time. And Lev couldn't simply ditch it. He knew how Masato can be when safety is involved.
▎Assuming the proper fighting stance, Lev prepared himself. ❝Yo! You ready?❞ He called to his friend. Without waiting for a response, he charged in, swinging like his life depended on it. His life didn't but his precious pride did. He brought in his fancy foot-work, pivoting on his heel to achieve a full turn around the captain, swinging to strike his legs. Lev didn't linger to see if it was a hit, continuing on to dodge any attacks that came his way by swiftly maneuvering his body. Just as he dove in to land a strike, he found that he was whacked squarely in the forehead, causing him to lose his balance. With a grunt, he fell to the tatami with a content thud. ❝Gah! Why you gotta be so good?!❞ Rolling onto his side, he propped his body up with an elbow to face Ania, the hand that held his sword reaching up to slide off the gear. ❝You see that? You'd better practice a lot to win against this guy!❞ Lev toppled onto his back once again, a drop of sweat finding its way to his eye. Blinking in surprise, he instinctively recoiling as the stinging began, one gloved hand holding his face. Groaning a bit, his expression comically distorted to rid his eye of contaminants. He sighed in relief once it subdued, dropping onto the mats. ❝You saw nothing! White-head! I'll beat you in archery any time! Just you see!❞

❤ Location ↠[Dojo] ❤ Outfit ↠[Lolita]❤ With↠[Masato and Lev]❤ OOC ↠[X] The neko was glad when the older boy said he would be glad to have her on the team! She was happy, she honestly thought she wouldn't be accepted due to her small stature and her appearance. She knew she looked twelve, but it was in her genes, there was nothing she could do to fix it. No amount of makeup or hairstyles could make her look anymore older than what she actually was. Holding her shoes close to her chest, Ania patted her way over to one of the corners of the room, egar to watch the two boys battle. This would be her first live match she would see in person. She's always watched videos on the internet of Kendo matches, so Ania was quite happy to be able to watch.
Sitting on her knees, her tail swaying slightly as she watched the two boys assume the positions. Holding her breath she watched as the brown haired boy charged at Masato. Aiming for his legs, and moving so quickly. It was crazy to see at how skillful they both were. She hoped she could prove herself to be just as good. Within seconds, thinking that the brown hair boy was going to win, Masato quickly put an end to it with a bop on the brown haired boy. It was magical, well at least to Ania it was, and at that moment, she wanted to try her hand at the captain. "Would it be okay if I had a go at it?" Her eyes, as starry as they were, were filled with determination as she sat there.
