History: Zhen Lu was born and raised in Beijing, China with only her mother to take care of her. Her father had been in the military and had been killed right before she was born. Her mother worked as a librarian in the Beijing library and she would often be brought to the library so her mother could watch her. Zhen Lu would play in the small playing area behind the main desk and was loved by everyone there because she was one of three children who were there. When she was eight, her mother gave her a camera and she would take pictures of almost everything that she could. Her mother sometimes would give her assignments, making her take pictures of certain objects, amongst other challenges. Zhen Lu would take them on and would proudly show her mother. This was her life until she was fifteen.
Three years ago, her mother had hooked up with another man, a thirty-year old who was a lawyer. He treated her mother with care, but ignored Zhen Lu like she didn't even exist. Zhen Lu told her mother this, but was shocked when her mother told her that she was speaking nonsense. Zhen Lu rummaged through the man's papers and found a journal. She went to the last entry and found out that she had been ignored because she didn't have a job. She swore that she would show this man that she could be successful and studied harder in school than she had in the previous years.
She applied to Ashhaven Academy last year because she was being bullied at school for wanting to be a professional photographer. She packed up all her personal things, including her old and new camera. She is determined to prove herself and wants her dream to come true so her mother can finally understand what she had said to her three years earlier.
Personality: Zhen Lu is a young woman who is somewhat shy, but is kind and caring to anyone that she meets. She's not afraid to speak her opinion if prompted. She is a good listener and will sometimes offer advice to people if they ask for it. She is also respectful and will often add Japanese honorifics to show that respect.

History: Nadezhda had a Russian mother and a Romanian father, both from pure-blood vampire lines. Her father worked in the construction business and her mother worked as a fashion model. She was taught from a young age about the history of vampires and was also trained how to fight. However, her parents were careful enough not to expose their secret of being vampires to the human population. She was taught how to blend into the human society as she went to kindergarten and elementary school. She was successful at this until she got into middle school.
She was in seventh grade and her hunger hit her during one of her classes. She claimed to the teacher that she had a horrible headache and asked to go to the bathroom. She was found in the bathroom by one of her female classmates, elongated, sharpened fangs and sharpened fingernails. Nadezhda confessed her secret and asked this classmate to keep this from leaking out, which the girl agreed to. The two soon became friends, despite Nadezhda being a vampire and her fellow classmate being a fire elemental. Her parents somehow found out about the incident that happened in seventh grade a couple years later, but were convinced that her secret was being well-kept, since there were no conspiracies against her. The two friends got through middle school and went to high school together. Their friendship flourished and there were even some rumors about the two falling in love, but Nadezhda denied these claims. However, something happened in their junior year of high school.
Nadezhda's friend was attacked in her apartment and was beaten severely. Nadezhda had been passing by her house, which was a one-story house, when she heard screaming and repetitive thumps. She broke into the house and ran all over, trying to find her friend. She found her in the bedroom, a man beating her friend with his fists. Nadezhda's bloodlust took over and tackled the man off her friend, beating him relentlessly. After the man was dead, she returned to normal and helped her friend to a hospital. She stayed with her friend for the entire time it took for her to recover, even starving herself of blood in order to ensure her friend's safety. After her friend got out of the hospital, she personally took it upon herself to take care of her. Her parents initially objected to this, but stood down after Nadezhda told them she was dead-set on making sure that her friend recovered in safety.
Once her friend had fully recovered from her injuries, the two resumed going to high school. Both of them had to take summer courses to graduate on time. The two decided, after some talks with their parents, that they would go to the same college. They chose to go to Ashhaven Academy to pursue their dreams together.
Personality: Nadezhda is someone who is a kind and friendly person, despite her outwardly appearance. She can be blunt at times, especially when she's angered. However, when around her friend, she'll only be brutally honest and will be motherly to her whenever she's hurt in any way. She is also respectful of people's space and will not intrude if she's told not to. When frustrated, she tends to speak Russian, which has earned her some glances from people at times. She is very protective of anyone that she considers her friend and will fight to protect them from danger.

History: Akane grew up in a family with six other siblings, two of them being brothers and the other four sisters. She was always being dragged to either play dress-up or play sports, which got her into some arguments. She would rather play with her brothers than her sisters, but sometimes humored her sisters just to make them stop complaining. Her parents were busy people, so she nor her siblings saw them all that much. Her two brothers were older than her, so they were basically her surrogate parents. She played soccer and baseball with them mostly, but sometimes accompanied them to the public swimming pool. In school, she wasn't the greatest in English, but breezed through her science courses. Her school life was normal until seventh grade with a certain incident.
One day, a female student named Nadezhda had complained to the teacher that she had a headache and was excused. Akane followed her to the bathroom, where she saw a frightening sight; Nadezhda with elongated, sharpened fangs and nails. Nadezhda confessed her secret about being a vampire and made Akane swear that she wouldn't tell anyone else. She agreed, and revealed her own secret; she was a fire elemental. Their friendship evolved and some rumors began to surface that they were a romantic couple. She didn't mind this and Nadezhda firmly denied any of these claims. During their junior year of high school, Akane's life changed dramatically.
Her brothers had moved out at this point and only one of her younger sisters was living with her at the time. Her sister was visiting a friend that night, so Akane was all alone in her home. When she was in bed, a man broke into her home and she was about to walk out of her room to investigate when the man came into her bedroom. He punched her in the face, sending her to the ground. Before she could recover, she was pinned and was being beaten relentlessly. She couldn't use her fire powers and was about to give up when something unexpected happened.
A shadow suddenly tackled the man off her and was punching him with such force that blood was flying around the room and bones were being broken. Once the figure was done beating the dead man and came into the moonlight, Akane was shocked to see Nadezhda. She brought Akane to the hospital and had to stay there for a while. Her entire immediate family, including her parents, came to visit her at the hospital multiple times. She was told later that Nadezhda had stayed with her all the way through her recovery. After she got out, Nadezhda, along with Akane's sister's help, took care of her for a while in Akane's home.
After she had fully recovered, she and Nadezhda returned to high school, having to take summer courses so they could graduate on time. Akane was still very good with the sciences and started to gain an interest in anthropology. Once the two had graduated, they went to the same college, Ashhaven Academy, after some talks with their parents. Nadezhda wanted to pursue a dream in cosmetology while Akane wished to pursue dreams in anthropology.
Personality: Akane is usually a very quiet individual who is also athletic. She is no bookworm, but has many books on the sciences and tends to keep them somewhere safe, like in a suitcase. She is very anxious around men because of the incident in eleventh grade and refuses to be alone with a male in the room. In those times, she clings to Nadezhda or another female that's willing to put up with her. When extremely angered, she tends to use her fire and will become aggressive, even with men. She can be a bit of a klutz at times, but that's because she thinks too much and not of a lack of, something that she's good at when playing soccer or swimming.
