One of the things that was truly beginning to bring joy to Malachi's days was when he would get to go to Science class to care for his sprout, or to Herbalism and learn more about plants. As Malachi sat at his desk in his and Hailey's room while she was out meeting her 'Big Sister', he began to think about planting different plants and flowers. Aside from a trove of plushies and familiars that were quite at home here and there, there wasn't a lot to their room. That settled things in his mind. He was going to go get some little cups and more seeds to grow plants in their room. Gathering up his messenger bag and a little money he earned doing some chores for some of the older kids in school, Malachi headed to call his mom. She'd take him out for sure!
Little did Malachi know that he'd be coming home with an assortment of gardening tools, pots, plants, seeds, soil and a couple 'How to' books for beginners. His mom was very excited to see him take such great interest in something like that. After she helped him get everything in the room, they hugged and said their 'See you laters' and 'Love yous' and she headed to work. Malachi felt very lucky to have such a great mom.
"Okay plants! Assemble!" he said in a surprisingly normal tone for him. Malachi began pacing slowly in front of the desk where everything had been set down.. "Today we are going to brighten up this place and make it colorful for Hailey!" then he noticed he was speaking a bit loudly and toned it down with a little laugh. The little Fallen grabbed up a medium sized pot and placed it on the floor beside a bag of soil. Smiling, he scooped up a plant he had picked out especially for his best friend... mostly because it was blue, but also because it would be really easy to take care of. "I sure hope she loves you guys..." he said to them. "Lithodora diffusa 'Grace Ward'. You're so pretty. Just like Hailey~" He set it down and opened the bag of soil, pouring in the pot. "There.. that should be enough." Digging a hold in the center with his little hand, he then grabbed up the flowers and transferred them to their new home. Beaming with pride as he gently pushed and patted the soil, he started to work on planting the rest of his plants and flowers. There wasn't a lot, but a good few would certainly brighten their room up.
It took a good while to get everything planted. There were now five pots in total in various places in the room. Each having their own special plants and flowers to them. He sure hoped that the familiars would stay out of them.... Wiping his forehead, and leaving a small smudge of dirt across it, Malachi put his hands on his hips and nodded. Yup. This was good... maybe even good enough it inspire his future. Aside from his mom, Hailey, and his pets... plants were one thing that brought him a sense of pure joy and peace. Maybe he could do that for others when he grew up. Maybe he could have his own green house and grow flowers. All sorts of them and share them with other Nightmares!... Well share them through selling them, anyways. He wasn't completely sure just yet if that sounded reasonable for the future, but maybe. Just maybe...
