Magical Girl

PostPosted: Wed Nov 11, 2015 6:51 pm

Rurik Volkov had very few memories of Russia.

He was actually born in Los Angeles and this meant he grew up away from the main branch of his family. As a child he had visited Moscow on a several occasions, mainly to attend weddings and funerals and there were ALOT of funerals. Since he was a young boy in a suit looking doe eyed and innocent in the families memoriam he had known his family was different, his mother tried her best to hide it from him but there was only so long she could protect him from the truth. He was a Volkov and his destiny had been decided the day he was born; he was going to take over the family's business and expand their empire in America.

His memories of Uncle Boris were always the most potent; the family sent him to check on Rurik whenever they could spare him. He used to remember sitting in his closet, wrapped tightly in blankets and covering his ears, pleading with whatever deity would listen to him to be left alone. Boris had always scared him and growing up Rurik saw him as the literal boogieman, round in the middle and stinking of cigars and vodka. The arguments he had with his mother were intense and the things he overheard shook his core. His uncle had even attacked him on on occasion which was why his Mother had banned him from their home, Rurik had come back with two girls and a bottle in one hand, he was disgracing the family name in his Uncle's words. It had been years since Rurik had seen his uncle, but yet again he was back and as always, causing trouble.

Ryan leaned against his uncle's car. It was a Jag, black with tinted windows and a polished idol on its bonnet. Ryan felt strange in his clothes; he was wearing pinned grey suit pants and a lavender shirt that had the first couple of buttons undone. Around his neck hung a silver cross and his shoes were shiny and pointed at the toes. He held the matching suit jacket over his shoulder, in his other hand was a cigarette which he kept bringing to his mouth, the gentle glow lighting his face in the darkness. The gentle sound of music could be heard from his earphones which casually hung around his neck, he had refused to take out his piercings, he was not going to be around the girls family for very long and it was nighttime.

His uncle was looking at his watch every few moments, every so often glancing at his Nephew as if to make sure he had not run away.

"не ебать это до ребенка." His uncle muttered, catching sight of his business associate with his daughter walking down the stairs of the restaurant they had agreed to meet. Ryan flicked the tip of the cigarette onto the road and went to stand by his uncle, who was at this point had become more animated. He had a friendly face that he put on in front of company, you could almost mistake him for not being a monster. "ебать вас старика" Ryan mumbled to himself, granting him a very displeased look from the man.

However it was too late for him to discipline the boy, it was too public.

"My friend, it has been a very long time." His uncle greeted the strange man with his very thick accent. His English was good, but the pronunciation had always been off. Ryan nodded at the man, before his eyes went towards his Daughter with curious golden eyes.

Theodore Katsaros was a striking man - tall and lean with carefully cropped strawberry blonde hair that was still absent of the pesky grays that most men his age lamented over. His face was sharp and angled, always serious and always calm, and his eyes seemed to notice everything as he passed - from the chauffeur parking cars to the moths flitting around a nearby lamp post. Zoe had heard people call him a hawk before and she would not have argued with them. His sharp nose and small, bright eyes were only part of the reason.

Where Theodore was a striking man, Zoe was an even more striking woman, especially next to her father. She was tall, with legs that stretched for miles, the shape benefited by a pair of black pumps that she walked in without hesitation. The dress she had picked was a deep emerald green, her father's favorite color, with a tight empire waist and layers of lace that showed flashes of her olive skin where the shift beneath stopped. The orange and pink hair had been pulled back into a messy but classy bun, with only a few curls and her bangs left to frame her face. At her neck hung a strand of real pearls, striking against his dark skin, cut just low enough to dangle a single emerald gem against the hollow of her throat. She knew the image she cut - she had been bred and raised her whole life to impress at first glance.

In the chill of the night air she leaned into her father's arm, wrapping hers around it in a way that spoke of familiarity, of family bond. His mouth moved almost imperceptibly as they started the final approach, but Zoe's bright pink eyes were locked onto the older man.

"This is very important to me, Zo."

Her dark stained lips smiled around her own words, even though they had an air of tightness, of underlying agitation.

"I'm not Cassia, I understand."

Theodore patted his daughter's arm gently as they passed into hearing range of the pair and she was spared whatever else he might say. As he greeted Boris with an air of familiarity, Zoe let her eyes wander to Ryan. He was unassuming she thought, though the air smelled of cigarettes.

"Boris, my friend!" She heard his politician's laugh, she knew that her father was smiling as he reached out with his free hand to grasp the Russian's. "This is Zoe, my eldest."

That was her cue.

A brilliant smile lit her face as she tore her eyes away from the young man she had been brought to meet and inclined her head toward Boris instead. Her eyes were rimmed heavily in black eyeliner, though it was hidden somewhat by the smoky shadow she used. She stared up at this Boris through a pair of thick, long lashes, passing her judgment quickly. He was overweight and not terribly attractive - his nephew had definitely gotten his good looks elsewhere.

"It's a pleasure," she chimed, politely. Then her eyes slid sideways to the younger of the pair again, waiting pointedly for the introduction.

Boris took Theodores hand firmly and shook it with enthusiasm. Boris was certainly not a looker, but he had never needed to be. His influence and luxurious life was enough to attract any woman he desired and he always had one or two girls back home. His wife passed away years ago under suspicious circumstances without ever bearing him children, Rurik was the closest thing he would ever have in that regard. Ryan's attention first went to his uncle's associate first, he was handsome and his aura was almost welcoming, however Ryan knew if this man had business with his uncle he was not as savoury as he would have people believe. What was he doing? Buying firearms? Getting rid of bodies? Or was he just taking advantage of the wealth and exclusive trade lines that came with being a Volkov. It must be pretty important to be playing with fire, the mob was not for the faint of heart. Did this girl even know what she was potentially getting herself into?

Ryans eyes wandered to the girl as she was introduced, the two could not have looked more different in that moment. Where her skin was tanned his was paperwhite, her eyes were crimson and his were gold, she was perfect and he was clearly anything but. He did not really give anything away on his face in that moment as he tried to sum up the situation - she was not his type at all, but that did not make her any less beautiful. His uncle's hand slapping him firmly on the back broke his focus - the impact made him step forward slightly and a small gasp as the air left his lungs. He supposed that was revenge for his earlier comments. Boris was displeased with him.

"The pleasure is all ours, Theodore you have a beautiful daughter, just like her mother. This is Vasilisa's boy, you remember my sister. He is tall and thin and not as handsome as me - but he is a smart boy and is destined to do some great things."

Ryan took that as his cue to say something but he was unsure about the proper way to go about things. This was the first time he had ever been set up with anybody, never mind his potential bride-to-be. He first sent a small nod in the direction of his uncle's friend, trying his best not to say 'sup' he was sure his uncle was armed and would actually shoot him in cold blood if he did. "Good evening, my Mother sends her regards." It was the only thing he could say and it was a lie, his mother took a dislike to anyone who her brother introduced her to, she was just good at masking it. Growing up, she had to take a lot of emotions. It was a life she had never wanted for him and was probably back home brooding into a bottle of wine. She did not tell him upfront, but he could tell she felt guilty for talking him into this.

Trying to direct his mind away from the serious of the situation and the stifling aura the two powerful men were giving up, Ryan turned his attention back to the pretty girl who was in his company. He held out his hand to her, the remnants of black nail polish still visible in the places he was not quite able to reach with the remover.

"My name is Rurik Volkov, and I think this is our cue to make ourselves scarce. If you would do me the honor of accompanying me tonight."

Theodore nodded politely at the boy as he gave him a tight, but warm enough greeting. If Boris thought he was good enough for the arrangement, whether or not it was brought to a conclusion, then he didn't have much choice in the matter. As long as he turned out to have his head on straight, there wouldn't be any problems.

Though he knew he couldn't personally vouch for Zoe - sometimes her wild streak was enough to make him grind his teeth. He could just hope against hope that she was on her best behavior.

"I'll see you at home, Daddy." She spared a glance for Rurik's hand, then stood on tip-toe to press a delicate kiss on her father's cheek. As she pulled away, she was pleased to see the faint outline of her crimson lip stain, though she hid her instinct to smirk behind a polite smile. He was already reaching for the kerchief tucked in his pocket (it was something she did often) when she turned back to place her dark hand in Rurik's, noting the flecks of black polish immediately.

Instinctively, she wondered who this Rurik Volkov was when he wasn't being forced to play patty cake.

"A pleasure, Rurik, I'm sure." Her fingers tightened in his as she spoke, polite and reserved in front of her father, though she bit her tongue behind her teeth. She was sure her mother was beside herself with joy at home, waiting to spam her phone with a flurry of text messages. Her free hand dug into the handheld purse, as if just thinking of the woman would summon her.

Boris basically herded the two into the car like cattle, the door was open and ready for Zoe to get in as soon as Ryan had dragged her away from her father. The door shut lightly behind her and when it did the white haired man slinked into the driver's seat, making sure to roll his sleeves to his elbows for good measure. If you asked him he gave zero ******** if Ol'Theo over there thought he was good enough, it was only going to get stranger from here buddy.

"ничего глупого не делать , я буду вас закаленной" Boris's tone was light, he even laughed at the end of the sentence, pretending he had not just threatened to end his Nephews life if he did not behave. Ryan knew he would never do anything to seriously hurt him, he just liked to remind him that he was in charge. Theo's disapproval meant very little in the wake of his uncles vengeance. Ryan nodded at the two men, saluting before he disappeared.

Ryan put on his seatbelt and put the keys in the ignition, it was then he realised he was in his uncle's car and he could not hide the devilish smirk on his face. The headlights came on in front of him and another opportunity to make his uncle's life hard arose. "Buckle up." He warned, it took every ounce of willpower he had not to go rushing down the street like a boyracer, instead he just reved the engine before setting off at a barely acceptable speed. Ryan was a confident driver, at least he was confident enough to know what was safe and what would probably kill him - taking some risks every so often was not the end of the world. Especially if it made Boris go red in the face.

He turned the corner at the end of the street and exhaled, the pressure was of and he could breathe again, he undid another one of his top buttons and fluffed his hair a little.

Ryan put down the driver's seat window slightly and then reached to mess with the screen that which was placed on the dashboard between the two, a few quick clicks and he was on his spotify playlist. The first song that came on just happened to be Killpop from the newest Slipknot album, the volume was quite loud, but not enough to make you have to scream over it.

"So before we decide on where we are going, I suppose we better get some things straight and cut out the bullshit. What has your father told you about my family?"

He looked over at her with a small smirk, he hoped he was not scaring her, it was not his intention at all. There was just only so long Ryan could put up a facade, he was nothing else if not true to himself. Ryan reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out another cigarette resting it in his mouth before offering the packet to his guest.

"I mean you're really hot and all - but this whole thing is as weird as all hell. I do not want you thinking I am a total a*****e who is going to take advantage."

Zoe let herself be herded into the car without comment, even going so far as to blow her father a kiss before the door was shut behind her. She looked regal in the spacious front seat, her shoulders high and one leg crossing over the other, so that the glossy black heel was suspended in the air. The stiletto tip was even more precarious than it seemed when she was standing on it.

The hum of the engine worked the first bit of tension from her shoulders, and she was relaxing more and more as they put distance between them and the pair of brooding, scheming men they left behind. Just as she was about to open her mouth to say something, dark lips already parted around the words, he pressed a button and Slipknot roared to life.

Not really her style, but she had no complaints. He was normal.

Immediately, her posture relaxed, and a deep sigh escaped her lungs. She felt like she'd been holding it ever since she took her first step toward the Russians, drawn along by her father's arm.

"Not that much, apart from the fact that it's imperative I make a good impression on you so that your Uncle thinks I'm worthy marriage material." The tone of her voice was dry and irritable, a far cry from the perfect tone of respect she had forced in front of the men making the decisions in their life. She was a politician's daughter, through and through. As she spoke, she reached up to pull the pins out of her bun, letting her curly hair fall free around her face. It was always a pain to lean back into a headrest with a bun and, once it was gone, she relaxed into the seat with relish.

She didn't have to be asked twice to take the cigarette - she caught it between a practiced thumb and forefinger, though her brows raised at him just so as she spoke.

"Thanks for the compliment, darling, but I don't want you thinking I'm the kind of girl that lets a boy take advantage of her." The retort was sharp and quick, but she echoed the smirk on his lips with an amused smile of her own. She had been so concerned that he was a horrible, insufferable brat that she wanted to kick herself for the stress she'd let her father induce.

"You look better with your hair down."

Ryan added as she smell of shampoo reached his nostrils. Girls always smelled nice, he knew his desire to smell people was weird, but in that moment he wanted nothing more than to pull her head close and inhale. You could tell a lot about a person by their smell and there was always such an overpowering nostalgia that came with someone's sent. He knew that from now on, whenever he smelt that shampoo or her perfume, he would be reminded of this absurd car journey. He could almost recite his backlog of previous girlfriends from product preferences alone.

Ryan himself just drenched himself with Lynx every morning and left it at that.

"Babydoll, there is no need to worry about that. He cares about whatever your daddy has to offer him. In fact I am sure it would have given him great pleasure if you were as ugly as sin and as dumb as a mule."

'And whatever he is offering in return was enough to make your father refrain from taking one look at me and turning around'.

Ryan smiled as she took the cigarette off of him, he pulled out the lighter from the dash and lit his own before he leaned over to lite hers. He pressed a button so her window also came down just a touch so she had a place to flick the ash but kept most the heat in the car. She seemed a lot more comfortable now and he was glad, heaven help him if that doll he met on the street a moment ago was the real Zoe. "Personally I am glad neither of those things are true." He added on the end, sending a playful wink her way.

He shook his head when she admited to having zero knowledge of the Volkov's; she knew nothing and that surely meant they were all doomed. "Jesus Christ... Okay." He rubbed his face and could not help but laugh a little at the thought. Here they were, two strangers who had been forced into each others life, neither with any idea what the other was capable of. Tonight was going to be a night of many surprises and he was not too sure Zoe would be too happy about them. Poor girl, he thought, she mustn't be too happy about any of this.

"In that case I am sure you have a lot of questions, though I think it might be best if we have a drink in our hands before we get into all that."

"And I would not dream of it." Despite the fact he was a complete dog, he had never taken advantage of anyone. Ryan was a good guy at heart, he was eccentric and made poor life choices, but he did not have a mean bone in his body. Besides, Zoe seemed like she could hold her own.

"So are you hungry? Or should we just head to a bar?"
PostPosted: Fri Nov 13, 2015 10:37 am

There was no response to the compliment, the cigarette butt was between her lips and a long, familiar drag pulled the first taste of stress-reducing nicotine into her lungs. Whatever she might have said was blunted by her addiction, but she did smile very faintly as she blew the smoke toward the thin crack of the window.

"Well, that's unfortunate for him, although there are plenty of ugly rich girls in the city if that's what he'd been after." Most of them the unfortunate offspring of ugly, squat business men who bought trophy wives. Even genes for sell couldn't mask everything. Yet his words intrigued her, and she tossed a sidelong glance at him. "I assume that means you're not on the best of terms with Uncle Boris, then?"

If that were true, she had to wonder how he'd gotten here without being dragged in chains. Whatever the case, he at least knew how to distract. Another long draw on her cigarette and she did smile this time, openly and amused at his suggestion, like a woman who continued to have her expectations blown. He wasn't like the other stiff, politician's sons she'd been forced to date recently - that much she could tell. Though it did leave her to wonder what Boris had to offer that was different enough to have her father all but signing a prenup on her behalf.

"You're speaking my language, dear, let's just head to a bar. I don't feel like pretending to eat a salad in front of you right now." What she wanted was a drink - and for his tongue to loosen enough that she could find out what she wanted to know, and how to play the situation in her favor.

"No, me and Uncle Boris have never been on the best of terms. I am not one to be all serious as you might have been able to guess, but please believe me when I say you should stay away from him whenever possible."

Rurik sighed, smoke raising from the cigarette that was held between his fingers as he turned the wheel, he brought it to his mouth every so often as he lost himself in thoughts.for a moment. He knew that his Uncle would never harm Zoe, not as long as him and her father were on good terms - though if all this went sour that might not be the case for much longer. The situation they were in was complicated, made more so by the fact she did not know all the details. He debated if he should tell her or if that would just make things even more messy. Ryan's golden eyes drifted over to look at her, his serious expression giving away to something more playful. There was no need to dwell on that tonight; not when the lady wanted to party.

Ryan pushed a button on the pushscreen and a beeping noise could be heard. The name on the screen read сестра.

"Hello?" Came a womans voice from the speaker system. Her voice was feminine and obvious very foreign.

"Привет , это я , мы собираемся возвращаться в бар мы можем иметь стенд ?" Ryan spoke, throwing the rest of his wilted cigarette out the window and rolling it up to retain some heat. The woman responded to him and the two conversed for a couple of moments before Ryan said goodbye and ended the call. "Спасибо, люблю тебя." He ended on before his attention went back to Zoe, an apologetic look on his face.

"I am sorry about that, but who knows, you might have to learn to speak the lingo if things go as planned." He was joking and the mischievous grin on his face said as much, if not his wiggling eyebrows sealed the joke. He knew it was very rude to speak on a foreign tongue when there was someone with him without knowledge of the language, though he wanted to keep their destination a surprise, more so the conversation would have taken twice as long if he had made the woman speak English. No matter how long you lived in a country your first language was always bound to be easier.

Ryans own accent was truly butchered, an LA boy speaking Russian sounded funny all around and his Mother was always playfully mocking him on his pronunciation.

They were not driving around for too long before they pulled into a warehouse complex, driving past the main car park Ryan found his way into the private area around the back and parked the car by a fire escape, the one story flight of stairs lead to a door that read exit above it. Bright lights could be seem streaming through the windows of the club in a variety of colours and the EDM was already audible even from outside. He guessed with the amount of expensive jewelry Zoe was wearing it was best to come in through the back. "Do not worry this is actually a bar. I got us a private booth for now so I thought it was best we snuck in away from the crowd. We are not really dressed for a party.... Well, not the kind of party that is going in in there. If you want to get changed into something more comfortable I can get you some clothes."

He sat back in his seat for a moment as the machine went dead and he glanced over at his guest. He leaned over the partition between them to get a little closer to her and whispered.

"Don't worry, if you do not think you can make it up the stairs in those shoes I will carry you."

"Noted."

So not only did he not care for his Uncle, but disliked him so much that he was willing to warn people away from him. She didn't think she was in any real harm, not if the man was trying to please her father, but she also wouldn't discount the opinion of someone that knew what he was like away from business deals. Deals were fake, made with fake smiles and ulterior motives. Home was where the heart shined true.

She fell to silence as he called someone on the phone, though a single, thin brow rose as the conversation carried on in what she could only assume was Russian. It sounded such - deep and guttural. She tried to pick up any words that sounded familiar but it wasn't a romance language and conjugates weren't as common as if she were eavesdropping on something with a latin base. So instead she drew quietly on her cigarette and watched the buildings pass outside the car, trying to judge where they were going. It was nowhere she had been before.

"If I know my father, he'll be signing a prenup on my behalf by the end of the night." She flicked the cigarette out of the window with a deft finger and let her eyes slide back toward him, showing no sign of what she really felt about the situation. It was a business deal, and it was out of her hands - out of their hands. The only thing she could do was get to know her surprising counterpart a little better and hope against hope that an arrangement could be made, between them, to help her retain some semblance of freedom.

The metal of the car vibrated just slightly from a rapid succession of base beats and, combined with the colors bleeding out of the windows, she assumed he had brought her somewhere that she had definitely not planned for. Not that the venue made her uncomfortable, by any means. While he let the car die and started talking, she reached up to unhook the necklace around her neck, then carefully fit it inside of her tote. A few unnecessarily expensive rings followed. Having guessed that she, herself, might try to make a getaway at some point, she had at least included a few pieces to help her dress down. The necklace was replaced with a low hanging sterling chain that dropped a thick onyx just below the dip of her dress' neckline and rings were entirely passed up for not one, but three pairs of simple silver studs in her ears. It was extreme as she had ever gotten with piercing and, even then, her mother typically forbade her from wearing them all.

At last she grabbed her phone from the bag, closed it, and opened the glove box, intent on fitting her tote inside safely while they were gone, though the sight of a handgun gave her some pause. Her brows raised and her lips pursed, but she tucked the tote alongside it and shut it again.

"Well, at least it's safe." Her tone was amused as she relaxed back into the seat, closer to him now that he'd leaned over to whisper. The bright, fuschia eyes met his and her amused smile tugged into something more devilish. "I can do things in these heels that you can't even dream of, Rurik. But I would appreciate if you could find me a black jacket, preferably leather."

The girl knew what she wanted, at least.

"In that case I better call the extended family and place a drinks order. Where do you fancy for the honeymoon? I have always fancied visiting New Orleans." The sarcasm kept escaping his mouth like verbal diarrhea, he was being serious about New Orleans though, he had always wanted to go there and get wasted down the main strip. Apparently the locals new how to host one hell of a party.

Zoe seemed convinced they were doomed, he could imagine the two men sitting around and singing papers with a bottle of some expensive beverage which would leave his uncle hungover and unpleasant in the morning. Zoe and Ryan were as good as sold to each other and the thought of it made him panic. The silver haired man might look carefree and confident on the surface but below water his feet were paddling like all hell. This meeting, it did not feel like it was the beginning of something so life changing, maybe he was just deluding himself, was he in denial? His eyes were fixed on her as she did her little transformation routine, he had peaked his curiosity which was more than he could dream of when he first met her.

Then she opened the glove compartment and he almost s**t a brick.

"I am sorry, he should not leave these things laying around so carelessly." He shook his head and ruffled his hair with frustration. Ryan reached over her and undid her seatbelt to test the waters of how close she was going to allow him to get to her. Feeling out the situation was probably the best way to go about it, especially for someone that was as big of a flirt as him. He found himself in the very awkward situation where he really wanted to hit on her, but it seemed inappropriate. Goddamn it.

"You are a feisty one. I am starting to think I am the one who is in trouble here, especially if you demonstrate those skills of ours." What could she do in heels? He had never been quite threatened with that before. He raised an eyebrow, his voice still very quiet as he remained close. "Another thing though. People around the city, they call me Ryan. It is like a nickname, something more American and unassuming. So you might hear that inside. You can call me what you want, but it is interesting hearing a pretty girl say my birth name." He smirked, his own devilish intent painted across his face, he was raising to her words.

"That will not be an issue. I will get one for you as soon as we get inside." He nodded, knowing that small request was not going to be an issue. "So if you are sure you can conquer the stairs should we go? Or do you want to park for a little while longer?" He asked, giving her a very obvious escape route if she was uncomfortable.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 13, 2015 2:56 pm

The sarcasm in his tone made her smirk, though she didn't rise to his jest. The situation they were in was precarious and awkward, no doubt as unnatural for him as it felt for her. He was handsome, she could admit to that, and the way he moved in his suit told her that he wasn't as comfortable in them as he might have been in something else. There was more to him than she suspected at first glance, but even with that in mind, she was aware that this was as forced on his part as it must have been on hers.

Although, it didn't seem to stop him from being brazen.

The smirk on her lips was accompanied by the raise of one thin, perfectly arched brow. She didn't shy from the proximity as he leaned a little more into her space and unhooked her seatbelt and as the pressure released over her hips, she pushed it off of her shoulders. One long, thin hand raised unbidden and caught him just under the chin, the edge of her manicured nails pressing just so into the skin beneath his jawline. It was an attempt to hold him where he was, to make him look her in the eyes. Something about her face in that moment seemed open but only because she seemed to be searching his own face for some sign of his intent, of who he really was.

"I'll call you whatever you want me to." The hand holding his chin in place slid so that she could cup his cheek, a more tender gesture than the grip of her nails had just implied. "But don't ever doubt that you're the one in trouble here. I've got a lot more than a pretty face to bring to the table."

She laughed as she dropped her hand and pushed the door open with the other, swinging out her long legs and standing in a single, fluid motion that sent her skirt whirling around her thighs. If she had to play this game, so be it.

Ryan was fully expecting her to put a knife to his throat, she seemed to have every other accessory in that Mary Poppins purse of hers. Instead it was a sharp fingernail that stabbed him just above his Adam's apple and rendered him useless. The air stiffened as he looked at her, magents eyes meeting gold. He did not have the poker face that she had and his expression was easy to read. A faint flush of pink ran across his cheeks and saliva ran down the inside of his throat. "Yes ma'am. His voice was a little more than a whisper.

He almost asked her to call him a*****e, it would snap him out of his desires and remind him how ******** up this entire situation was. Though when her hand moved to his cheek he knew it was not the time for bad humour. He watched her as she released him, arching a brow at her flowing skirt. For some reason it felt like she had declared war. Ryan smirked and got out of his side of the car, walking around to her side and shutting the door behind her.

It was then that he grabbed her wrist, she was as a disadvantage with her footware and both the element of surprise and his height worked in his favour. He pulled her back to lean against the car and then placed his hands on the foot, either side of of her. If he was close before, now he was uncomfortable so. He leaned down towards her with a devilish smile and a passionate look in his eyes. "Hey Zoe, I have a question for ya." He began.

They needed to lay down some ground rules and make intentions clear if they were going to have their little game.

"How would you like to make this a date? A legitimate date with no strings attached. I think I want a chance to win you over on a level playing field."

He suggested, leaning away from her and taking one hand off the roof to put it on his waist. He was fully expecting a slap for this one, especially when he added.

"If you are too dumbfounded for words, I will take a kiss as a yes."

The gingery woman had let her attention slide to her cellphone by the time he crawled out of the car and rounded the side to get to her, so she never even saw the determination in his eyes or the set to his face. When his hand closed around her free wrist and pulled her back, pinning her between him and the car, she didn't have an ounce of will in her to fight it. She kept her feet beneath her and found herself leaned back into the cool metal, staring up at a pair of daring golden eyes.

"I was under the impression that our arrangement meant you didn't have to try and win me over," she murmured into the space between them, low and barely above a whisper. Yet there was a small smile spread over her lips as she stared up at him, defiant, between the place of his arms. Contrary to his belief that he was going to get slapped, it seemed he had sparked something in the difficult woman. Not many people bothered standing up to her and she found it appealing, in a way.

"But if you want to try anyway, then who am I to stop you?"

She leaned off of the car as he backed off just a little and pressed one hand into his chest to balance herself as she stood up on tiptoe. Though it seemed like she was about to kiss him, she dipped her head and pressed her pouty lips against his cheek at the last moment. It would leave a stain, just as it had on her father's face, undoubtedly - but with her free hand she also snapped one, quick photo with the ease of someone that had practiced it a dozen times. When she pulled away and glanced down at it, it made her laugh under her breath.

"That should be enough proof for them, no?" A couple of buttons were pressed and the picture message was sent to her father, who had probably already been inquiring. Her eyes met his again as she dropped back to stabilize on her heels, fiery magenta meeting the warm gold with all the ferocity she had already promised him.

"Let's get going, then. You've got your chance."

"Our arrangement does not mean either of us have to do anything we don't want to." His tone was very serious, he hated the thought.

Ryan shook his head, there were plenty of couples out there who did not see their other half for months at a time. Just because they had a contract binding them both together did not mean they had to cross each others paths or restrict each other in any way. She did not seem like the kind of girl to want to, but if Zoe decided to spend every night with a different partner it would not offend him. He did not want to clip anyones wings, there was nothing that inspired hate quite like that.

He smiled, she did not seem to dislike the idea of a proper date.

He had no idea what was going on in that moment, flummoxed by the fact that he had not been assaulted it looked like the girl was actually going to kiss him. Was it that easy to win her over? In a flash her lips caught the side of his face and photographic evidence of their encounter was flying across cyberspace. It was clearly not the first time she had pulled that one. He was almost embarrassed for falling into the trap and the flash of crimson across his nose said as much.

He shook his head and ruffled his hair, he most certainly was in trouble. "Well then, I hope not to disappoint." The man smirked, sending a playful wink her way.

Rurik walked ahead of the girl, his hands resting in his pockets casually. The gloves was off and the game was on, it was nice to have permission to treat this like any other date - it seemed less intimidating that way. Who knows, it might even be fun? He took to the fire escape first, glancing over his shoulder every couple of steps to make sure she was okay behind. It was not a long journey up the fire escape and when he reached the top he rested his hand on the door and pushed it open.

"This way Madam."

He nodded his head as light came streaming out the doorway. The music becoming louder. The fire escape lead to the upper floor of the club, which was basically the scaffolding that went around the side of the warehouse and formed a balcony where you could look down at the dancefloor. Bellow people were dancing away through the night with drinks in hand, some up on the stage at the back of the building that sometimes hosted bands and shows. Scattered across the dancefloor were cubes where go-go dancers were performing, some on poles, some with batons and hoops. It was an industrial place that was decorated with chandeliers and long silk curtains. In the center of the room was a fountain that was surrounded by a seating area and covered in candles.

There were a few people with Rurik and Zoe on the balcony area, most looking down on the antics of people below and drinking from bottles. From across the corridor one particular person caught sight of the two, she was wearing quite an unusual costume. The woman, who had black hair and yellow eyes, came walking over towards them, she grabbed hold of Ryans arms and pouted as the whipped the lipstick from his face. She gave him a look, one that was full of sass but not disapproval.

"Мать , вы можете получить наш гость кожаную куртку ? He asked her and the woman nodded her head. Rurik looked back around at Zoe and smiled. "She will take you into the back so you can pick out a coat, I am just going to get changed myself so I will see you at the booth in about ten minutes?" He suggested as the woman next to him extended her hand to Zoe.

"Please, come with me."
