Class activities: Please pick the activity that pertains to your characters stage and fill it in by the end date! Thank you! FRESHLINGSSealife Begins: Now Ends: May 9th, 11:59 PM PDT Grading Periods: 2; second ends April 20th "Many things live in the ocean. Some of you saw pieces of seaweed washed up on the beach, or pieces of shell at the beach. Today, we'll be watching a video about some of the things that live in the ocean--sadly, we can't cover all of the things that live in the ocean, because there are a lot of things that lives in the ocean."
Mys. Grey smiled. "There are even people that live in the ocean--the Nixie have been living in shallow coastal waters for centuries." Rules: Fill out this worksheet and PM it to Geyser Eelborn titled "Academy Science Sealife: [Student's Name]" Do not post it in the thread; if you do, you and everyone entering after you will be disqualified. Post a short RP response of your student coming to class, watching a video, and filling out a worksheet. JUNIORSThe Skeleton Begins: Now Ends: May 9th, 11:59 PM PDT Grading Periods: 2; second ends April 20th "This week we'll be going over the skeletal system. You may have already covered this in health and PE--if you have, please forgive me. Now, we'll be looking at a generic skeleton, for the most part--many races have differences in their skeletal structure, especially in the shape of the legs and the presence of wings. We'll go over those, too, later in the week." Mys Grey wheeled a life-size plastic skeleton out of the closet and in front of the whiteboard. "Got a skeleton in my closet, I guess," she murmured with an embarrassed smile. Then she straightened her throat and began to point out the different bones on the body. As she did, she wrote the harder-to-spell words on the whiteboard. Rules: Fill out this worksheet and PM it to Geyser Eelborn titled "Academy Science Skeleton: [Student's Name]" Do not post it in this thread; if you do, you and everyone entering after you will be disqualified. Post a short RP response of your student coming to class, watching a demonstration, and filling out a worksheet. SENIORSObjects in Space: part 1 Begins: Now Ends: May 9th, 11:59 PM PDT Grading Periods: 2; second ends April 20th "Of course," Mys. Grey said, "stars aren't the only thing in the night sky. While the word "astronomy" implies an emphasis on stars themselves, the study of astronomy includes all objects in the sky, from the humble asteroid to the astounding black hole. It's time for you to meet them." She grinned, turned off the lights, and turned on a projector. She pulled a white screen down for the image to be projected onto, revealing a beautiful object with a gleaming white tail. "We'll start with objects in our solar system. This is a comet..." Rules: Define these terms:
Comet, meteor, meteoroid, meteorite, asteroid, satellite
PM the definitions to Geyser Eelborn with the title "Academy Science, Objects in Space 1: [Student's Name]" Do not post the definitions in this thread. If you do, you and everyone entering after you will be disqualified. Post a short RP response of your student coming to class.

Malachi had rushed into science class, making sure to go straight over to his plant in a cup on the windowsill, giving it a drink of water. It made him very happy to see the little sprout coming out from the soil it was planted in. Satisfied it wasn't going to be thirsty for the rest of the day, he took his seat. It was only then that he saw there was a different teacher standing at the front of the class. Where'd Mr. Tan go? All the same, Malachi sat there and listening to the new teacher. He was still going to be able to learn and that's what mattered to him in the end... though he was still kind of sad.
After listening and observing what was said and drawn, the substitute teacher gave them their assignment. Ooooh! Malachi liked this one. As soon as he had the worksheet, he got right to working on it. It wasn't long before it was done and signed and he was up and turning it it. Malachi gave a shy smile before turning back and taking his seat.

Ellis was very new to life, to school, to everything. He'd never met the first science teacher at Asphodel Gardens, so it didn't bother the imp at all that they had a substitute now. He also lacked a plant of his own to check on, so as soon as he entered the room, he scrambled up onto a chair instead, poking at his worksheet as he listened to the lesson.
Before the instructor had finished explaining the intricacies of plant parts, Ellis had gotten started on his work. His handwriting wasn't as neat as he might have liked, but he was still a Beautiful Baby Boy, as his dad liked to say. He would get better at it in time.

UUUUUGH SITTING STILL. Korvau hated sitting still. Especially for science class! Or really... any class, but at the moment he was in science so it was science he disliked the most. Although, he supposed this activity was fun! Sort of.
He looked at his worksheet, and the scrambled words, and frowned. What did those say?? He squinted, tail flicking in thought... Oh!! OH!!! He figured it out! He picked up his favorite purple pen and started writing them down. Yes!!
He'd have to show Iah this when he got it back.

Leif wasn't sure who that teacher was that the substitute was referring to, he'd only just started! But he really liked this assignment! His dad was a botanist so he knew aaalllll about the parts of a plant! Sort of. A lot of them anyway. Well, he knew these ones so that was all that mattered.
With a happy hum, he got to writing down what each part was called, and then handed it in to the teacher. He'd have to tell Corben about this for sure!

Talya walked to class with decorum; she was not fond of science class, but she'd planted a seed in a cup last time, and she wanted to take care of it. She sprinkled water over it and took her seat, blinking up at the new teacher. She didn't recognize them--but it was obvious that they were not Mr. Tan. She sighed. Boo. Substitute teachers were the worst. They couldn't keep order or anything.
The teacher's one saving grace was that they were drawing stuff on the board. Drawing was something that Talya enjoyed doing. She copied the picture down with her own colored pencils, labeling everything as the teacher explained. She finished her worksheet quietly and turned it in.

Enoch or no, Chries was not all that fond of science class. He preferred magic to science, and those rare occasions in which he did enjoy science never involved the minutiae or whatever of cells. Cells were boring, that's all there was to it. But he supposed that this was the assignment available to him, so he'd just have to make do. He heaved a sigh and sat down in class, listening to the lecture with half an ear. He took a few half-hearted notes, which he came to regret--a quiz?! Why?! Why did there always have to be quizes? He groaned and buried his head in his claws.

Gaius was totally entrapped in their substitutes teachings. He soaked up each word, fierce eyes watching each movement of the marker as it scribbled along the board. For now his attention was held, since they were not with their precious plants, and there was a nice picture to look at that the teacher was describing. Plants were so cool! And cute, to boot.
Once it came to his turn to imitate what was taught, he did indeed get a little distracted by the picture on his worksheet... but he slowly began to write down what was on the board, peeking up a few times for reference as he went along.

Lior listened to the lesson, and then tried his best to fill out the test... Once it was done, he scanned it over with his reader to make sure that everything was correct, and then passed it in to the teacher. This reaaaally wasn't Lior's best subject...

Dahlia didn't know who Mr. Tan was, but she assumed that they were a very tan person. She also didn't understand what a substitute teacher was or why some of her classmates were grumpy about them. Did it really matter who was teaching them stuff? All she cared about was getting the lesson done.
"Oooh, pretty!" She cooed, patting the assignment. So, all they had to do was label the plant's parts? That was easy! She grabbed a pink crayon and quickly scribbled the words in where they belonged. Once she was done, she handed it back to the substitute with a smile.

Sequoia leaned back in her chair and sighed. Aww, Mr. Tan wasn't here today? She wondered what happened to him. Maybe he was sick? She pondered the thought as the assignment was handed out and nodded to herself. Yeah, that seemed the most likely. It was cold season...
"I think I've seen this flower before..." She said, reaching for her pen. "Let's see... Hm."
She filled the page and double checked it, before handing it in. Hopefully Mr. Tan came back soon!

Zephyr stared blankly at the questions presented to him. He had no idea what any of these things were and it made him panic. Was he not paying attention the last time Mr. Tan was here? Why didn't any of his notes have this stuff on it? He heaved a breath and bit his lip. Oh well, he'd have to wing this one, won't he?
"Okaaay, finished." He said, slipping the paper sheepishly onto the teacher's desk. "I hope I don't need to retake this course..."

Emmet frowned slightly, glancing around the class. Mr. Tan wasn't in today? Was he sick or something? The young imp hoped he was okay. Still, there was a substitute so there was still work to be done. He looked over the worksheet that was handed out to he and the other Freshlings. This was definitely doable. Sparing only a few passing glances up to where the substitute was teaching off of the picture on the board, he listened intently as he worked to untangle words and label everything.
