Bringing herself a small bag of snacks and a blanket, the Death hunter had decided to spent her night there. Since reading materials was one of the routine tasks for Death division, Shu could easily select possible documents and find a comfortable spot to sit and read. In the cost of having a pair of panda eyes, she eventually discovered the cave in dream, named Sunken Cave was in the Halloween world. Having the important information jotted down on a notebook, she met with Ace again and planned for their trip. Weeping forest, which was once believed to be a great artifact itself, consists of many unknown portals leading to different places. In the record, someone who visited the cavern before used the portal there to reach that place.

The duo camped out at in the Weeping forest, they rested enough for the forthcoming battles. Shu looked upward, the night sky of the Halloween was similar to their world, tiny shiny stars with a pumpkin moon. She didn't think the forest was creepy, she was simply worried of the journey forward. They took turns to rest, Shu wished she won't sleepwalk in front of the trainee. The sleep was shallow but nice enough to reserve her energy. The next day, before they went to explore the portals, they checked their pendants and equipment for the last time before they separated to brave the portal. The one she picked brought her to an island, a rarely visited primitive island. She walked around and concluded that it wasn't the underwater cavern she was finding. She took the portal back to the Weeping forest, but Ace wasn't there. That was a medicore girl, very enthusiastic and cheerful, loved smiling and talkative. Ace had met girls like that before, but the weakness that Shu unconsciously showed released a smell of secrets that drew his attention. His instincts told him she wasn't as simple as she might show. The petite Asian that he hardly knew had piqued his interest, he talked to her and deliberately pried from her. Flawless, that was how the Sun trainee felt about the girl. She wasn't hiding anything, her expressions were genuine and the innocence sounded so convincing. There were two explanations, either he was wrong and that already was the real her or she was a great actress. He got excited thinking about the second possibility and the weak sensation of similarity. He learned that she loved eating desserts when he told her he preferred spicy foods, he discovered she knew three languages and was a Chinese as he joked he got lost sometimes because America was too big. She wasn't a difficult target to pry information for. The night could be said enjoyable. The next day, they split to search for the right portal. Seeing Shu went into one, he strode into one that the exit was inside a forest. Walking out the forest, he found himself on an unknown island. The small island was surrounded by the sea on every side, Ace wondered who would open a portal to a place like that. Luckily, the portal was stable enough for him to go back without disappearing. She saw Ace coming out of a portal, "Is it the right one? The one I found led me to a random island." As for his reply, she wasn't surprised at all. "It's fine, let's try again. Same as previous, we meet back at here no matter what, okay?" "I'll go this way," She pointed to the left. The exit of the portal chose was another island, she heard whales from afar in the sea, it was getting rid of water like a fountain and she seemed to make out a rainbow. Every time they returned to the forest, she felt it got harder to breath. Their bodies were complaining about the atmosphere filled with rich fear and she felt nauseous. She knew they didn't have much time left before they were forced to go back. Gradually, they didn't exchange any words but went into another portal right after they came out of one. Ace took a few deep breathes on the island, the normal air that he, as a human, craved for. How many island she had visited, Shu had lost count of it. The fear slowly piled up in her body was agitating her anxiety. She was worried that she would fail again, like every time she want to do something big, she would make a mess. When she wanted to impress her father, when she thought it was a chance given for her to get some parents' love, when she regarded it as her happiest moment. Nope. Her father didn't appreciate her effort, her new parents turned out to be horrible and that day became the worst in her life ever. With the influence of the fear, she couldn't help but recalled all the memories, of how much a failure she was. Ace found a stick and drew something on the large scale of sand, Catherine had a hard time guessing what he'd drawn. When she stepped out from the portal, she had to curl up for the shortage of oxygen. In the world of Halloween, there wasn't oxygen in the air, her face paled and her throat dried, craving for the oxygen. She felt dizzy and dragged herself to a nearby tree and leaned against it for Ace to return. RestartAfter taking a short rest on the island, they were back to the weeping forest. Like last time, they split up in searching for the right portal for the Sunken Cavern. Shu was lucky that time, once she got out another side of the portal, she could smell the high content of salt in the air and the sound of wave hitting the shore. It matched perfectly with the memories of her clear dream, she gulped in excitement for reaching the destination. She found a place to sit down and send Ace a text message that she found the place and would be waiting for him. What would be waiting for us, Z? She asked the beast. < No idea. They probably eat a sandwich in the cafeteria, the petite Death insisted to pay for both of them for the trouble she brought him. He didn't feel bothered but he'd winced at how much a sweet tooth the young woman was. Wasn't a sweet lover or even fear of it, the man couldn't agree with what he saw. After that, they went back to the island. Shu seemed to be very determined to find the place in her dream, he knew it was more than verification was her sole purpose. Despite the cheerful outside, she looked like she had hidden many secrets unable to share with anyone. Having met with many different kinds of people in the past, he discovered the invisibly small distance she kept with everyone at least with Ace himself. Separated with the petite Death, he hopped into a random portal.
