DanceTaught by Zoey for Academy students of all ages! Open for February! Rules
Please only post when the title states a class is open.
You may enter only four Nightmare's per stage at a time!
Please turn off sigs! I will not fail you for forgetting to do this, but it makes it easier for me to scroll through and read everything!
Look below to see which activity is available for your character, and pick the appropriate activity for your Nightmares stage.
Do not claim growth points for your Nightmare until the class is over and Leo has quoted you stating you have passed.
Should you do the assignment incorrectly, you will be quoted stating you did not pass the class.
When your character turns in their homework assignment you should write a small in-character RP response of them handing/performing the homework to the teacher/class. Any length can do.
Please quote "Leopleuradon" when you make a reply!

Class activities: FRESHLINGLet's Stretch! Starts: Beginning of Month Ends: End of Month @ 11:59pm EST Zoey always thought it was good to have days when she focused on stretching and keeping her kids from cramping during their lessons. Today seemed like a good day to take a break form their usual routine and relax. "Today we're going to work on our warm up and cool down stretches! Just follow along with me!" And with that Zoey let her younglings through a series of stretches. Rules:1. Roll 1d20, your number determines how your limber your freshling is! This has no impact on whether you pass or not, it's just a good way to add flavor to your RP response! 2. Post a small RP response in thread with your freshling taking part in the balance exercise! 3. Please quote me in your reply! JUNIOR & SENIOR:Create a Dance! Starts: Beginning of Month Ends: End of Month @ 11:59pm EST Zoey realized she had been focusing a lot on solo dances lately, but it was often fun to have a partner or two when dancing. There were different tricks you could pull off and could be a variety of fun style. "I would like you all to pick at least one partner and create a dance together. It can be in any style you like. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!" Zoey watched as her students began to pair up and she stayed ready at the front of class to help them out if they needed it. Rules:1. Roll 1d20, this number determines how well your Character(s) manages to perform their dance number with all of their peers watching! This does not effect whether you pass or not, simply helps with your post! 2. Post a small RP response in thread with your Nightmare/Daydream dancing along with the group! 3.  Hailey was excited for Dance Class to be starting. She thought about trying to drag Malachi into this one as well so they could spend more time together, but she decided to leave him be. Maybe during junior year she'd torment him with dance class. As she settled into the class, she watched her new teacher. After a couple minutes Hailey decided she liked her leggings. Too bad Malachi wasn't here. He was all plants and stuff. He probably would have liked them, too!
And then teacher gave her first instructions. Stretches. Groan. Why did she have to do those in this class? They already had to do them in P.E.! Though the thought of stretches curbed her enthusiasm some, Hailey stood up and decided to at least make it a game of following the leader while they stretched. As she followed her teacher, she did the stretches easily... and surprisingly they felt good to do right now. Okay, so maybe this wouldn't be so bad! With her enthusiasm in tact once more, she put a little bounce and oomph behind her movements. Hopefully she wouldn't be too worn out by the time they got to dance!

Sprout had taken only a few minutes to contemplate their assignment. The Fallen totally knew what they were going to do. "I am going to show you Jazz today," the green-eared Junior beamed, wearing the same loose clothing as they always did. "Some say it's very flashy and unpredictable. I like to think it's a very bold style."
They took a few steps out into the performance area, already getting into the groove. Sprout spared none of their energy, stomping and making sharp bends with their body as they worked back and forth over the space. They made sure every part of them was incorporated, loud taps against their chest with their fist as they stomped and their wings flaring to the appropriate sides as they leaned. Sprout made sure to stick with the rhythm of the music they were working with and by the end they were exhausted. They slowly brought it back together, laughing as they wiped a hand over their forehead. "And that's jazz! You kinda... wing it."

 Hailey had watched with wide eyes and wonder as her classmate danced their heart out. They were so expressive and that last bit when they finished made her crack up aloud. She enjoyed good humor.
Then it was her turn to step up. Taking in a deep breath, then letting it out, she got up and stepped up to the performance space, kicking off her shoes to the side. Her toes stretched and bent as she got a feel for the floor beneath her. "My favorite form of dance is Modern." she started. Her arms spread out from her sides, the right higher than the left as she posed. Her arms came in and hands clutched at the center of her chest. "It conveys feelings and uses beautiful technique while breaking away from traditional dance, not bound by the rules." As she emphasized breaking away from tradition, her arms moved quickly, as if casting aside the rules themselves. "It is a beauty all it's own as you feel what the dancer feels while they move."
And with that, Hailey took to moving across the space. The song in her head was filled with feelings of love and confusion. Her movements started with running across the floor with open arms and jumping for joy! But then her movements slowed and she began closing herself off from the world as her arms wrapped about herself. Slowly her body doubled over as if in pain and eventually she hit the floor on her knees. Slowly, her body laid down on the floor with arms laid out, her breathing seemingly exaggerated as if she had been sobbing. After the look of sobbing had ended, Hailey turned over and her arms pulled in against her chest once more, laying on her back on the floor. Her legs lifted, slowly stretching up from the knee, one after the other. Then she moved to lay on her side, curling up.
She was done now and should get up, but she'd much rather stay curled up on the floor. It was super cool and comfy!

Lilan, as usual, was more than confident. Or at least, was able to put on the facade that he was very well. The little Freshling hardly thought he would have any problem mastering the class with ease. He was a naturally born dancer! At least that's what he told himself...
He was ready to upstage everyone, and be the head of his class. To show the others who was the best of the best. Listening intently to the teacher as the exercise was explained, he wasted no time in giving it a try. Walking over to the rail that was next to the wall length mirror, he gently gripped the wooden beam. With a small breath, he started to balance on his first foot. Feeling good about it, he began to lift his head in that ever so elevated pompous position. It was probably because of this additional surge in cockiness that he started to wobble, instead of focus enough on balancing. Quite embarrassed that he'd faltered, the little Litch tried again with his other foot, trying to play it off. But still, he wobbled.
Maybe he needed more work than he thought...

 Lestari grinned when she saw a giant feather fan in her favorite shade of purple. Next to it was a smaller fan in the same shade. Without missing a beat, she grabbed them up before someone else could and took to the center of the floor. "My favorite kind of dance prop is a fan. They don't always have to be this big, but they can be used in so many ways." She spread out the large fan so its feathers were covering her from neck to midthigh. "It can be sexy," she said as she did a little burlesque type move behind the feathers, "Or it can be shy and coy." Switching fans, she held the large one behind her almost like a peacock's plumage, while she held the smaller one up to her face over her mouth and nose. "Eyes are the windows to our souls, to our deepest selves, and they can convey so much with just a look!" She continued to dance around the floor, making several very dramatic faces using mostly her eyes to illustrate her point. "And then, when everything's done," she said and plopped back onto the floor in her seat, "They can cool you off!" she giggled and fanned herself with the smaller fan.

Since only one person did the Senior/Junior assignment I have elected to keep the assignment the same! I have merely changed the date for the 31st! Lestari gets an early pass however! ♥

Ah Dance, one of his favorite classes. He always enjoying showing off his moves. He was really excited about this new assignment as well. He was already a pro at dancing with props, mainly because he had to dance and play his keytar at the same time. He decided to go with that as he prop for his dance.
"I'm quite fond of a lot of props, but my favorite would have to be my instrument. Having to manage your movements and an instrument takes a lot of work, but it always looks cool in the end." He plugged in his amp and than started the show for his fellow students. If only his sisters had been there to see him as she shinned in front of the class.

Nyles picked up the hula-hoop. Dancing? With a hula-hoop? This didn't make any sense to her. She put it around her waist, like she saw all the other children doing, and spun it. The hula-hoop dropped straight to the ground. She frowned and bent down to pick it back up. Once more, she spun it and let go. Down to the floor it went.
Frustration set in, as little Nyles reached down again, standing straight upon obtaining the giant plastic hoop. She took note of the kids around her, wiggling their hips as they continued the momentum of the original spin. Realization came over her as she spun the plastic hoop again, this time, wiggling her hips back and forth to keep the hoop moving. And with that, she found the hula-hoop to be an entertaining pastime! She smiled and started walking around with the hoop, still going around her waist.
