Sebastien crouched by the little dug-out, smiling softly. He was watching the kitten suckle. No. Still too soon. He wondered how far this young woman had gone? She'd be easy enough to find if he sent a messenger, or maybe it was time to take a few days off for himself. Regardless, Latti's kittens were still too small. He reached down and pet the perzi's bald belly, feeling her breathe gently. It must be hard to be a mother. He could never imagine. Maybe some day he'd recognize the challenge of being a father, though? Maybe. Considering his current love life, things would undoubtedly be far more complicated than others may face. He stood and stretched his back. Latti gave a soft sound of affection, as if wishing him goodbye, and he turned back to work. It was funny. When he'd actively attempted to battle perzi they had never obliged. Maybe you had to let the perzi choose you first? That was what had happened with Latti, although he had to admit that he had likely helped with his offers of food and gentle attention. She had only been a farm perzi, good for keeping the wards under control. She had chosen him, though, and he had taken care of her. When she wasn't nursing a litter she slept at the foot of his bed. He sort of missed her at times like this, but she always came back. The others at the compound knew she was special and to be kept safe for the collar Sebastien had placed around her neck.
