Race Hybrid Baph/Geist
Zodiac Sign: The Chalice
Academy House or University
Gender: Male
Starting Stage: Senior-AcademyGrad.
Body Type Base: (Senior face 29 or 40 with number 2 Baph horns and maybe Baph base G as a base.)
Brief Description of Appearance:
Link- Slender and quick, Sayid was practically built to be a trouble maker, and can be remarkably quiet for someone with hooves for feet. His thick reddish brown hair is worn tied back and long, and it's pretty obvious it would love to come loose and be an uncontrolled mass of waves. He is also quite proud of his short, neatly trimmed beard and attempts to get him to remove it are likely to be met with sarcasm and refusal.
Eyes: Brown,
Geist Whisps: I used kind of purple-dusky color but CC is also ok.
Key: is just a visual prop, he really needed something in his hand.

There was a point in time where the Kamali family was a significant force in the business world, their far reaching grasp touching on many industries, and creating a comfortable, peaceful life for the family, and Sayid grew up in something of an comfortable, self assured bubble, confident that other people who might have actually been looking down their nose at him for being a hybrid were merely jealous of his family's skill and wealth. He attended the Academy like many children, looking to Eldrich house to learn trade and history, reasonably confident that he'd be taking a position beside his parents at some point at the helm of their empire. They had money, people liked them... they trusted their employees and connections.
...And made a significant mistake in being so openly trusting. Like an unseen rot, the hostile takeover came from within, small gestures that slowly built up to an inevitable and forceful shift of power and resources, and even accusations of criminal behavior and insider trading, none of which were true, but rumors being what they are, they stuck around, particularly to the already 'questionable' hybrid, Sayid.
Under the weight of these accusations, the family found themselves burning through resources much more quickly than they would have liked, and their fall was meteoric, and as an even more profound blow, the father Sayid looked to as though he had been one of the nine, immortal and untouchable, turned up dead within the month, apparently the victim of a mugging, and his mother followed under equally, almost unreasonably reasonable circumstances.
Unsure what else to do, Sayid fled the moment it was settled that he was in no way involved, changing his last name to Jaser to separate himself from the family name, and make a new life for himself. It's been a very mixed ride, mostly bumpy, but he's discovered his social training makes him good at selling things on a smaller level as well, and gets by as a Salesman, even making the odd joke about being part Geist being a good reason why it's sometimes hard to find help on a sales floor when you need one. He's only PART Geist, therefore he's easier to find, Ha ha.... ha.
He's aware keenly of the tight knit nature of Baphomet society, but also of the reputation for trickery of the Geists, (something that always made his parent's reputation a little... questionable, and to which he credits his own skills at being a little more light fingered than is probably socially acceptable.) and this conflicting line, as well as the uncertain fate of his parents, makes him reluctant to seek out relatives on either side of the family, for fear of their safety and for fear that they might see him as being too much one or the other. He loves both sides of his heritage, he's proud of himself for standing between the two, but there's just too much he doesn't know to not be careful. And then there's that little issue where non-family members might have that whole 'racist' thing. He knows he has some uncles and aunts who made an very large, loud show of not attending when his parents married. He is pretty sure one of them sent them some framed copies of a good divorce lawyer's card as a gift.
Someday it would be nice to clear his name, but he's not sure that's even possible, so his current goals are to get by and be as content as possible, something made easier by a couple acquaintances he's met along the way.
He hasn't tried to go to university yet, though he fully supports Hania doing so. To be honest he's a little nervous of drawing eyes when he's not sure what might happen, but he might yet be talked out of trying to pursue this idea at a later date.
---
Positive Traits:
Highly Charismatic, Sayid is good at making himself likable, he's earnest, (even when he's... not... actually being entire truthful) and has an lot of compassion, especially now, for those who find themselves in a difficult place, or who are struggling under the weight of how their species is perceived, though unfortunately he's also become particularly untrusting. Only a handful of people are lucky enough to have him admit that he has any history longer than living in the aftermath of his family's collapse, and MOST who might have graduated during that time will find he will deny knowing them, or of being who they think he is. It's too much trouble. THEY might be too much trouble.
Wary Would be Champion: While he's still struggling with the idea that not everyone is actually out to tear him down, the things Sayid has seen in his time give him a lot of sympathy for the downtrodden and the underdog, the people who either never saw the bad thing coming or those who've always lived under that cloud especially. He struggles between jumping on a soap box and coming to their aid and pulling up his collar and pretending it's not his problem, but he really kind of thinks it's -exactly- his problem, and having a few positive influences in his life really doesn't make it easier to resist this, even if he is afraid of that kind of attention.
Negative Traits:
Distrustful to the extreme, Sayid frequently doesn't hesitate to give out an carefully edited version of the truth, or his own history, and this has every potential to get him into trouble, or upset people that might otherwise actually WANT to help him, but he struggles with the idea at this point that there might be more good in the world than bad, since otherwise, how could any of this have possibly happened?
A bit paranoid: He still isn't sure if there's a darker conspiracy behind what happened to his parents. There might even not be, but he feels like there SHOULD be, and either can't, or won't, stop digging for even the thinnest hint of a clue.
Hypocritical: A skilled liar himself, you'd think Sayid would have a certain patience with other people not telling him the whole truth, but he has a problem with this, and he knows he's a damn hypocrite, and he does not give a damn. This has been a bone of contention off and on, but he continues to stick to his guns about -other- liars.
Likes: Luxury items, good clothes, good food, or at least decent food in quantity, a good bit of slight of hand.
Dislikes: People who ask too many questions, people who have issues with hybrids, and ironically... liars.
Hobbies: Slight of hand, reading, long walks

Something has just reminded your Nightmare of a poignant memory. What was it, and what was the memory?
"Here". He blinked as Hania held a cup of coffee in front of him, a small green stir stick, designed to block the drinking hole, holding back the steam from inside the cup that would have otherwise escaped into the cold air. The little paper sleeve around it was testament enough to the temperature inside anyway.
"Oh, thanks." He relaxed into a half smile, taking it gratefully and wrapping his hands around the cup to let the heat soak into his fingers and palms. Cold weather was never his favorite, furry legs not withstanding, he just liked it better warm, though there was something to be said for the feeling of hot coffee cups in cold hands. You couldn't buy that kind of feeling. Well... you could... but that wasn't the point.
"Hey...." He noted after a moment, as the other nightmare settled onto the bench beside him. "Remember the first time you brought me a coffee?"
Hania grinned, a light chuckle rising from the back of his throat like a spring bubbling up from deep places. "I couldn't forget. You looked at me like I'd maybe tied razors to the stir stick and sugared it with something colorfully poisonous."
"It... wasn't a good time." Sayid admitted wryly. It really hadn't been. He hadn't managed to land a job then, newly arrived in the city and had almost been robbed trying to find someplace to sleep. Hania's act of kindness as he'd been sitting there, curled up and glaring at the universe in a challenge to do something else, anything else, to him, had seemed like the most elaborate kind of trap.
Maybe it had been, if you counted any form of love and affection as a trap. It was certainly an effective one. Hania was one of two people he could name who had him shackled firmly around the heart now.
"A lot has changed since then." Hania pointed out, wrapping an arm around Sayid's shoulder, prizing the stopper stick out of his own drink with his free hand.
"Well I could probably glare at you again if you were feeling particularly nostalgic." Sayid suggested, though he wasn't entirely sure how convincing he'd look. "What did you get?"
"White Chocolate Caramel Latte."
"...That sounds amazing."
"That's why I got you one too."
"Ahhh, now I remember why I keep you around." Sayid sighed, taking the stopper out of his own cup and taking a deep breath. "Ooh. Is there whipped cream?"
"Yep."
"You know me way too well."
