Once more the elusive Quail's Eye was out and about on patrol. He'd gotten things more or less settled in his civilian life: His boyfriend accepted his cat and bird and himself in his apartment, he still had his job... It wasn't a bad life, honestly.

Sure there were things that made him sad.. He lost his own apartment, he cried yet again in front of Kraven, and he was pretty sure people still thought he was a kid. All in all, though, Quail's Eye decided it was time to go on patrol to see if he could help tip the battle back into the Senshi favor. There seemed to be more on the Order side of things, but in his opinion, the Negaverse had an unfair advantage, what with weapons and no chibis to look after. Not that chibis were a problem, just...!

"I'm mentally digging myself a hole and no one will know." He looked completely unamused as he sat upon a branch near the outskirts of Destiny City. Quail wouldn't go downtown tonight, no. That required... effort and definitely meant he'd be battling. A lot of Chaos energy often came from downtown at night.

If you're trying to help, you should go toward danger, not away.

Was he mentally arguing with himself now? He sighed and pushed the thoughts away and just focused. Was there a Chaos signature out here?

Since he was now calling himself Captain Sanidine, he was trying to work a little harder at this whole good agent thing. Which meant he was out more, gathering energy, picking fights. Every little thing just made him feel so alive.

But even the rush of power was losing its edge since he'd powered up tonight; he was getting bored.

But then, the strangest little energy signature had caught Sanidine's eye; it was one he identified as different but he was not familiar enough with this War and all it's participants to know exactly what that was. So he headed straight towards it.

He figured it must have been some senshi, different than the ones he'd met.

…Except, when he found what he was looking for, he had no idea what it was.

"Yo," he called, slinking out of the shadows of a nearby alleyway.

"…You're a weird little thing, aren't you? I don't think I've ever seen something like you before. So," he moved closer and looked the male up and down skeptically. "What are you?"

He almost chirped as he felt a signature, a strong one, come closer to him and then something talked to him. Well, someone, not something. Those honey colored eyes turned toward the blond Captain and just stared at him like a deer in headlights. Ohgod. This was going to suck worse than the only battle he head with that tall brute of a lieutenant.

Quail swallowed a little and gave a little noise before he dropped from the branch and seemed to float down, landing super quietly on the grass.

"...That's kind of rude. I'm human too!" ...Sort of. Whatever. Either way, Quail put his hands on his hips and tried to put on a bravado about himself. "I'm Quail's Eye of the Amazon Trio. Who're you?"

The captain stared blankly at him for a minute. "…Sanidine," he introduced after a minute. "Of the Negaverse. Are you sure you're real? You look all…"

He paused, tilted his head to the side and then reached out, poking at the male's chest as if to make sure he was real. He almost seemed surprised to see that his touch was met with a solid chest, but it did little to ebb his curiosity.

"…Tiny. Fragile. What's the Amazon Trio?" he asked, seeming genuinely intrigued. He'd heard of Senshi and Cats and Chibis and Knights and Princesses—but what on Earth was this new thing everyone had forgotten to tell him about? …And what was he supposed to do with it?

He sighed at being called tiny and fragile. Honestly, Quail should have expected it. A lot of people loved to point out just how short and child like he was. Sometimes he was called a 'fae' and honestly, Quail didn't know what to do with it, so he just shrugged and let it happen.

"The Amazon Trio is something that's.." Something that no longer exists, really. "Disbanded. As far as know I'm the only active one. I haven't felt the other two in some time."

Quail's Eye put his a hand on his hip and then rubbed at his nose slowly with the other hand. "I'm very real."

Sanidine seemed to be questioning him still. "…Disbanded, huh? Seems like a lost cause to keep that name if they're both gone. You should join another team. One that isn't going to ditch you like that. What can you do, anyway? —Are you with the White Moon? Because you're cute, I'll give you that, but if you're an enemy…"

His voice trailed off in an unfinished threat; he didn't seem particularly menacing on the outside, but there was something about the Captain that was worth considering. He seemed easygoing, but he also seemed to enjoy that unspoken thread.

"I'm.." Not technically with any faction. So the shorter man just rolled his shoulders in a lazy sort of shrug. "Just here. I'm not aligned with any faction anymore. My main goal goes beyond these 'sides'. If you happen upon the place I protect, I'll stop you. It doesn't matter if you're Senshi or Negaverse." His tone carried a certain authority to it that came from.. no where, really. Though it was true. When it came to his precious place and person he had to protect, he would protect them from anyone.

His jaw worked a little and Quail's feathers were ruffled.

"Now, are you going to keep watching me like I'm an alien or do you have anything better to do with your time?"

Sanidine rolled his shoulders. "Oh," he purred. "I've got plenty better things to do than just stand here and talk."

He lunged, then, fist swinging at the smaller male. If Quail's Eye was done with words, Sanidine was all for making a display of him. Hell, he wouldn't mind poking and prodding and figuring out just what the hell was so different about him. And he was cute, so maybe when he got bored of pressing buttons he could turn him over to the Negaverse and see if there was anything they could do with him. After all, different was good, right?

And one of three meant he must have been quite a special prize.

Quail let out a short shriek as he was lunged and punched. It definitely landed and he lost some of his puffiness from earlier. Swallowing and flipping away, Quail held onto his side where the punch landed and he just hissed out in pain.

Why?! WHY?! That hurt. He rubbed his ribs and glared at the other man before getting serious. Oh, his feathers were ruffled.

Quail's Eye lunged at Sanidine, but not with a fist. He was aiming a kick to the other's stomach or chest, whateve he could hit. The short man wasn't a fighter, but he wasn't going to sit there and let himself be pushed around by the Negaverse because they didn't know what he was. Besides, he had powers too! Not like a senshi, but in a tough situation they'd come in handy.

The kick went flying right into Sanidine's stomach—except it didn't all work out in Quail's favor. Sanidine had managed to move quickly and now gripped the smaller man's ankle with an iron grip. He locked eyes with the male and grinned darkly.

"Cute. You fight like a kid."

He moved tightening his grip on Quail's leg. Twisting on his feet, he used their combined momentum to try and hurl the smaller male face first into the nearest tree. He certainly could have tried to hit him again, but he derived a certain pleasure in having the opportunity to throw this attack back in his face.

It had hurt Sanidine, to be fair; it had been a distinctly unpleasant experience, but it would absolutely make up for it if he got to see this kid black and blue.

When his ankle was grabbed and his foot twisted and he was hurled like that, Quail panicked as he saw the tree coming toward his face and let out an indignant squawk as he held his hands out in front of him to brace himself. Only he turned and ended up with his back against the trunk and the wind knocked out of him. The short male slid down the tree and dropped to his hands and knees, wheezing, gasping for breath.

Okay, that... That hurt. Slowly he got up to his feet again, shaky and unnerved and he just stared at Sanidine.

Quail's Eye knew when he got in over his head. Swallowing thickly, he readied himself again before letting his brows knit. "....Okay. Uh. Heeeey. Can't we talk? Let's go back to the talking thing. That was fun."

"Oh?" Sanidine purred, stalking towards the male slowly. He was making a show of it, enjoying the predatory role. He certainly had it down pat; he eyed Quail's Eye like something to be eaten, to be maimed. "I don't know, I think I'm having more fun like this."

His fingers twitched, aching to call his weapon, to see what damage he could really do…

But his goal wasn't to kill this guy. Just to figure out what he was. To bring him in for the Negaverse and see if there was anything they could do with him.

"Though," he began, as an afterthought. "I suppose if you were so against this, you could just surrender."

Surrender? Surrender to what? Quail chirped a bit and swallowed hard before slowly just backing away from the other, trying to put distance between them. "W-why would I surrender? You'd hand me over to whoever and I'd never been seen again, would I?!"

He panicked a little and just pulled at his robes before coughing and backing away more quickly. If this one came at him like that, tried to bum rush him, he supposed he'd have no choice but to actually use his magic. Push him away with a strong gust of air and take flight. This was a really dangerous situation...

"So just.. let me go! I don't.. Uh. I don't really want to hurt you!" That could have sounded better, honestly.

"I'd see you again," he purred, taking his time for a few seconds more. "…But I can't say much for anyone else. The Negaverse would make good use of you. But, if you won't come willingly, I suppose I'll just have to drag you there myself!"

And then he charged.

Sanidine still wore a markedly feral smile and as he ran he pulled back his arm, keen to strike him again; he was enjoying this far too much--please, even if the fight hadn't been entertaining, watching this guy try to bluff his way out of it just tickled Sanidine down to his awful little core.

He let out a screech as the other rushed him and Quail's Eye let out a gust of wind that would knock the other off his feet and back if it hit him properly. He was panicked and honestly, Quail's Eye wasn't even aiming. He just closed his eyes and pushed his hands out in front of him and hoped for the best.

He didn't want to go to the Negaverse, he didn't want to be tested on. He didn't want anything to do with being experimented on and cut open and anything like that.

Nope, nothing like that.
