Lucas Wickham
(Male Version) Reworking history slightly
Name: Lucas Wickham
Age: 22 (but is often mistaken for someone younger)
Eyes: Green
Hair: Light brown
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 150
Build: Not as thin as a rail, but still thin, has a bit of muscle, but not toned
Occupation: Part-time waiter, part-time bookstore clerk, and wants/tries to be a freelancer writer. Hopes to publish a book someday
Family: Samuel Wickham (father) and Andrea Wickham (mother)
Likes: Paranormal, UFOs, mythology, mythical creatures, The Mysterious, fantasy, sci-fi, ramen, chocolate, books, running, snow, candy
Dislikes: Fakes, perverts, being alone in dark places, mosquitos, crying
Hobbies/Skills: Paranormal study, reading, writing, watching television, video games, etc. Lucas was also taught how to cook and sew by the landlady. He's got the basics of both, but he wouldn't be called talented or an expert.
Clothing: Lucas is almost always seen wearing jeans, comfortable shirts, and a pair of glasses for his nearsightedness. Most of his clothes are hand me downs and anything of his father's that he can fit into. While out he always wears his father's old trenchcoat, which is a little too big for him.
Distinguishing features: Nothing really stands out about Lucas. Physically, anyway. It's when he opens his mouth and starts talking to people about his interests that get him odd looks.
Personality: A nerd. Well, not quite. A playful person that loves to make jokes and is very curious. Lucas is always trying to have fun and keep a positive attitude about everything. A trait he received from his father. However, he's not the overly positive, hyper and excited-type, (he does get excited when he comes across things he's interested in or energetic/goofy when he tries to cheer someone up) to the point where he gushes sunshine and rainbows. He's reserved and usually calm, but keeps a smiling face. Unfortunately sometimes the smile is forced. Deep down he is tired, frustrated and lonesome, but he hides that. He always tries to keep his spirits up believing it could always be worse and reminding himself that someone out there is doing a lot worse than he. To avoid dwelling on the negative he fills his life with things to do that make him happy. So when he isn't struggling to keep up with the rent and other expenses he is nose-deep in a good book, researching strange events and writing stories. Lucas would be described by others as a very kind, hardworking boy, though he doesn't always get things right. But also very weird mainly because of his obsession
with all things strange.
Despite things that occured in his past, Lucas gives everyone the benefit of the doubt and sometimes can be a little too trusting of others. That's not to say he trusts them with his personal thoughts and feelings. He is still reluctant to discuss his past with just anyone. But he will believe the best of people and that tends to open up a door for others to take advantage of him. Because of this he's been hurt on a few occasions.
Also, romance makes him very uncomfortable and he is sometimes shy around women. Most pick up lines and advances will usually be mistaken for something else by him, since he can be pretty oblivious sometimes (one might wonder if he chooses to be oblivious). But if someone makes it very clear they are interested he will become scared and probably run off. His reluctance to enter a relationship has increased since he met his mother.
History: Lucas grew up as an only child in a small apartment with his parents. Their small family wasn't rich, but they weren't poor. When he was about two years old his mother divorced his father and took off, choosing to leave him behind. Lucas would still say he had a very happy childhood. His father was very attentive and spent as much time as he could with him. Unfortunately work ate up more time than they would of liked since he worked long shifts. The landlady also took good care of Lucas while his father worked and was almost like a grandmother to him.
He had a normal childhood. He went to school, managed passing grades, occasionally tried out for track, tried playing sports with the other boys in his apartment complex, had braces, and even had a paper route when he was 12. And, like other kids, he also had his share of bullies and unkind words thrown his way. He was teased quite often for his interest in aliens, werewolves, the Lochness monster and the like. Because of his strange obsession he was often alone.
Lucas' interest in the paranormal was started by his father. Together the two would watch science fiction and paranormal shows and movies (Star Wars, Star Trek, X-files, Unsolved Mysteries, Quantum Leap, etc), and read fantasy stories and comic books. Whenever something interested him he'd learn as much about it as he could.
Lucas has a lot of love and respect for his father. He was his teacher, role model and best friend. It was very hard on him when he died from a stroke when he was twenty, but because of things he taught him he made it through. Shortly after his father died he went searching for his mother. What he found upset him greatly and he is still working through what he learned in both his heart and mind. He still tries to maintain a postive outlook, but he struggles.
Currently still living in the same apartment he grew up in, Lucas works hard in order to remain there. Working two jobs keeps him busy, but he still tries to find the time to occasionally write articles and short stories that he sends to different magazines hoping they'll be published. Still with no luck.
