There was light chatter in the air as others who were in the house with her were quickly trying to finish whatever task that had been given to them. Alice looked around for a moment before going over to the cake, gently pushing away the hand of a friend who loved any and every kind of sugar. She wasn't letting anyone touch it until after he was there. Alice took the icing and wrote in big letters welcome home!, a slightly difficult task since she had wanted to do it in cursive. Alice set down the frosting she had been using to write the letters on the vanilla cake with chocolate filling, she had made it herself just that morning. "He's coming!" someone spoke in a loud whisper as another went to turn off the lights. People went to go hide behind furniture before Alice, having stayed by her cake she made wondering if she should hide, decided to join them. Most were dressed in dresses or short shorts since it had been a hot day, even hotter with so many people rushing about to put up decorations and get everything ready. The redhead's attire was similar to her friends' though she was extremely shy about her body. She wore a tank top and jean shorts, but she wore a hoodie most likely two sizes too big for the girl. She liked loose, baggy clothes. The hoodie nearly covered her shorts, but were an inch or two off.

Gathering his luggage in hand, he made his way outside, quickly flagging down a taxi and giving the driver the address that Alice had given him. He was excited, he couldn't deny. Excited to see old friends and family and to see how much they had changed. And he was especially excited for them to see how much he had changed. He was more muscular now, and thinner than he was before. He had even taken up contacts and grew some facial hair. And he had grown a couple inches as well, now standing at a tall six feet two inches.
After what seemed like quite a long drive, the driver finally announced that they were at the address. He paid the man, and quickly gathered his luggage and shuffled out of the car, closing the door behind him. He shouldered his duffel bag, and held his other bag in hand before making his way up to the front door, testing the knob to see if it was open. Unsurprisingly to him, it was. He entered the room, and looked around, seeing no one in sight. But many decorations aligned the place. He chuckled softly to himself. "Alright, guys, you can come out now.. " he called out.

She wondered for a moment how long she would be trying to hold her balance while waiting for him to walk in. How long has it even been since she's seen him? Her heart slightly raced at the thought of his presence being back in her life, without having to wonder when it was he would be deployed again. He had promised this was his last trip, he was just going to stay here with her....and their friends. She constantly reminded herself that she shouldn't have thoughts like this about her friend. She pushed her hair back as she listened to the door open, her eyes seeing the light pouring in and the shadow of his figure against the wall. She was mentally preparing herself to yell out the word, surprise like everyone was planning to, though it was most likely it'll come out of her like her normal voice, maybe just a tad bit louder. He had guessed their intention, which wasn't that hard since the decorations were up. Everyone came from their spots, they still said surprise before practically running over to him to give hugs and slaps on the backs for coming home, and Alice took this time to wonder if it would've been better if she had driven to the airport to get him, then lead him into the house blindfolded or something. He most likely still would've been able to guess it was a surprise party as well though...oh well. She offered him a small smile though she wasn't sure if he could see her, she hadn't gone rushing over to be one of the first to greet him, she decided it would be better just to wait that way she didn't feel rushed to get to give him a hug and say something to him that most likely was inspired by the idea of welcome home.

Alice felt her heart beginning to race when he started to walk towards her, and she had to remind herself that this was actually real. He was home for good now. She smiled more when he hugged her, squeaking a bit when she was off the ground. She blushed in embarrassment at his compliment, looking down as she tried to push her hair back. Why'd he have to say something like that? It was embarrassing that he noticed something like this...she finally gave him back a quick hug as she closed her eyes "I missed you too..." she finally whispered back before she looked up at him "I'm glad you're back, welcome home" she let go of him as she looked over to the cake she made for him. Maybe he would want some? "do...you want some cake?" she asked him as she motioned to the direction of the cake she had made for him.
