Cici sighed as she looked over the book list for her class. Having come into her powers later she had to take the Basic Braining course before she could work on her power courses. But this was.....difficult. Cici's schooling came from life experience in the commune. She learned math by counting seeds in the garden, by measuring ingredients in her mother's kitchen. Now she had to learn from books and it was proving a challenge. Because of this she'd arrived at the library early so she would already have the books ready when her partner arrived. Their teacher assigned a partner project to better learn how to work with each other as a team. She looked back at her instruction sheet which listed the books they would need as well as their partner. Sebastian Horn was her partner, a boy she'd not met yet. Their teacher had paired up students who had different powers and asked them to write a paper on how they could compliment each other. The blonde sighed again and returned to looking for the study books. She wondered what the boy's powers were? Her own involved reading auras on objects and light manipulation. Finally she found the books she required and went to choose a study table big enough for the two of them. Cici pushed a lock of platinum blonde hair from her golden eyes, her tan skin still warm from her earlier walk around the campus. She wore her usual purple outfit but carried a hair tie in case her hair became too unruly at the table. Now she just awaited her partner.

xPartner assignments. They had been the bane of his existence in school, to the point that he had flat out refused on many occasions to work with others, and instead just took on the entire work load himself. In his experience most of the other kids never had much to offer, or Sebastian could have easily done more, and better. But maybe this would be different. These weren't kids from his small town and small-minded school.
Sebastian had seen Celine in class, but he had yet to meet her officially. From what he could tell based on looks alone they were complete polar opposites, a thought that was already nagging at the back of his head as he made his way to the library. He had no trouble finding it at all, as it had been the first place outside of his own dorm that he'd sought out immediately. He had brought a considerable amount of books with him, but he knew the library at a place like this would offer a far more vast selection of different topics, particularly ones that would be important to his latest...developments.
He pushed through the doors, frowning as he paused to gaze about the library in search of his partner. It didn't take long. Her blonde hair practically glowed under the lights. She stood out, that was for damn sure.
Sebastian's boots barely left the floor as he drug them across the room, stalling as he tried to get a better idea of what kind of girl she was so he knew what to say. He got nothing. He never got anything. People were a mystery to him. So when he finally reached the table he stood there awkwardly for a moment, scratching at his hair like he had a ferocious itch, and finally muttered, "Hey."

Partner assignments were the most common place thing back in Celine's home. Older students always helped teach the younger, passing knowledge from one generation to the next. It was considered proper even if the younger child wasn't a sibling. And lessons came in so many forms! Celine blinked as a voice spoke to her, she'd been buried in a book about plants she'd found while searching the shelves. She beamed up at the boy, not at all bothered by his looks. She's heard some girls comment about Sebastian's "goth" or "emo" look, that he looked dangerous and moody. To Celine's innocent eyes he just looked like he needed to get out in the sun more.
"Hi! You must be Sebastian!" she smiled, pronouncing his name in proper french. Her parents both spoke french, in fact her father's name was Bastian! She pushed a large lock of hair over her bare shoulder, "I'm Celine, though you may have already guessed that!" She giggled a bit and motioned to the chair next to her, "I've already gotten the books we were assigned. It was difficult, I've never seen such a big collection of books." She looked around at all the shelves, thinking the place could use a few plants to brighten it up. Her face did show some discomfort, as her hands rubbed her arms. She felt almost trapped by all these books. How could anyone really learn in here? "Do you have our assignment paper?" she asked as she held it up. She wondered what kind of powers Sebastian had, of if he was much better at controlling them than she was of hers.

xShe talks a lot... That was the first thought that ran through his mind as he stared at her openly, waiting for an opening. His second thought was thank god she took the initiative. He had expected to come in and have to find everything on his own. He was more or less familiar with the locations of things already, and was very surprised that she'd thought to gather everything already.
Sebastian swung his bag off his arm and let it fall with an echoing thud on the table. Not surprisingly he'd had multiple patches from various bands sewn on it, and had adorned it with pins as well. He sat down in the chair Celine indicated and unzipped the middle section, then pulled out a very plain red folder with "Basic Braining" neatly penned in at the top. He pulled out the assignment.
An assignment about differing powers and how to work together. He had never really considered how he would work with someone else with powers. He could read auras, which was none too exciting in his opinion. Hypnosis and telekinesis on the other hand? More than anything he just wanted to use his powers and learn more about them that way.
He leaned back in his seat, putting one foot up on the chair and leaning his other knee against the table. Crossing his arms, he cocked his head at her. "So first thing's first, what are you in for?"

Celine glanced at his bag curiously. She'd never heard of any bands the patches advertised. Her own bag was on the floor next to her chair. It was obviously hand made from purple dyed cloth and decorated with embroidery. Sunflowers were the main them. Instead of a folder she had a pad of paper and a leather bound binder made for her by one of her old instructors. Pressed into the front was Celine's name and a sunflower symbol.
His question confused her, she was still getting use to slang the other kids used and wondered if this was yet another phrase she'd not heard. Perhaps he was asking why she was here? That seemed logical. "Well I began developing powers recently. i'm pretty good at manipulating light, " she said as she demonstrated by producing a small ball of light in her hand. "I'm also pretty good at reading objects. I could tell if an object belonged to someone because their aura was still on it. What about you?"
She glanced at the book on powers but didn't seem apt to open it. She felt better learning from the person she was teamed with, or seeing instructors perform it. But she supposed she would have to learn what the powers could do without instruction at times. "Sorry," she hid one eye with a lock of hair, "I'm not use to this kind of school. It's...so different from home."

xThe corner of Sebastian's lip twinged upward in what almost could have been a smile. He honestly wasn't surprised in the slightest that she could control light. She seemed the type, honestly, if one could tell by looking at a person.
The almost-smile disappeared completely when she hid a bit and commented on the school. He didn't know what kind of place she came from, but even he found this place strange and unlike anywhere he'd ever been before. There were kids from all walks of life, and the curriculum was obviously much more interesting.
Had he been anyone else, he may have offered up a word of comfort to the girl. Instead, Sebastian did the only thing he knew how to do when he felt awkward, which was to try and change the topic. He lifted a finger and pointed it at a pencil on the table. It vibrated a moment, and a sour frown immediately crossed his face. "It's supposed to move."
Honestly, it was a little embarrassing. The last time he'd tried a similar move to show another student the same thing had happened. He wondered if the pressure of performing in front of other psychics was subconsciously effecting his abilities. "I'm alright at hypnosis, and I can read auras." He looked away and focused on a window. "Apparently I'm not too good at telekinesis yet." This time he did smile, but it looked more bitter than anything.

Celine did notice the slight almost smile and smiled back. At least he wasn't condecinding like some of the others had been. She couldn't help where she was raised and didn't see anything wrong with it but others seems to think she was weird or presumed she was uneducated due to her lack of formal schooling. When he pointed at a pencil she blinked and watched, gasping a little when it wiggled. Back home there were psychics but none with telekinesis. "Wow! You almost moved it! I haven't seen that before! I've seen other kinds but not that!"
She was genuinely excited and even more so when he told her his other abilities. Wow he had three! Well she supposed she'd learn her others sooner or later but his comment made her her think. "Hmmm, well you can read auras and I can read auras on objects. Maybe we could do something....like showing how we can pinpoint what someone has recently touched." She twirled a lock of hair on her finger, "Maybe have some other students come up and touch objects then I read the aura on it and you match it to the person?"
Again Celine was more use to physical learning than writing a paper on it. She suddenly realized that as she glanced down at her paper with a sigh. "Or maybe just...write a paper on it," she pushed at the pencil Sebastian tried to move. "Seem's like a waist of paper to me. I mean isn't it better to learn by doing things. Least that's how all my teachers taught us. We used our hands, we saw with our eyes. All this writing seems pointless." She pouted a bit but tried to act mature about it. This was a new experience and her parents told her to try and learn more.

xSebastian grunted. It wasn't that he minded hands-on learning. It wasn't something he had much experience with, but it wasn't necessarily a bad thing, either. He just didn't like admitting that her idea was actually good, especially when it meant...further interaction. And with multiple students, at that.
He also had to admit to himself that he wasn't exactly sure how to handle Celine's discomfort at being in such a different learning environment (and he briefly wondered what sort of place she grew up in that she learned things so differently). She seemed so vulnerable. Was that a girl thing? Sebastian didn't talk to girls.
He grunted again, this time looking over his assignment paper once more. It didn't say anything about not conducting any experiments to back their paper. Maybe they'd even get extra points for going above and beyond. He let out a frustrated sigh. "I guess...we can try and get some kids to help out... But that's all on you." He crossed his arms again and diverted his attention away from the girl.

Celine smiled as the boy didn't act like she was weird for her comments. She usually got some strange looks talking about how she was raised. She thought about his comment and nodded. "Yeah I think I can do that. I'm great with kids since I always took care of my two younger sisters. Also I helped with the other children in the village being older."
She smiled as a plan began to form in her head. "I can get some of the younger kids to bring in an item they use everyday. Nothing overly special, just an ordinary object! Then I can read it's aura and you can read the kid's aura so we can match it to the person!" She clapped her hands together, "Or maybe we can have a bunch of objects and with our backs turned each child can touch one, then we determine which object the child touched?"
She looked to her partner for agreement, "Though I'm not sure how we can write a paper all on that." She twirled another lock of hair, "I'm not exactly good at essays. Mira was always the writer, teaching the other kids how to read and write."

xThe mention of Celine's sisters did not go unnoticed by Sebastian...nor did the comment about "the village". Part of him wanted to ask, but there would be time for that later. First they had to get this damn project out of the way.
"Don't worry about the essay. Just let me do that part," he said quickly, digging through his back for a notebook to take notes on their findings while they did their little "experiment". "Do you have anything we can have them touch? Even one item would work. They can stand in a line and take turns touching it, then we work out who it was." Sebastian didn't particularly like the idea of other kids touching his things. In fact, that was one of his biggest pet peeves. The idea of multiple kids especially touching something of his made his jaw twinge.
"This could work too." He shrugged, picking up one of the books from the pile on the table. "Doesn't matter what it is really, since you should be able to tell who touched it less regardless of what it is."
