It was play time, and there were a lot of kids Andromeda didn't know this time. Usually he ended up in the later day play hours, but since his classes had changed, he was in the morning group! It was an interesting change, but he wasn't complaining! It just meant more opportunities to make friends. And boy did he like to make friends!
He wandered around the outskirts of the playground, trying to decide what he wanted to do first... Go for the jungle gym? Or the sandbox? Oh but what about the see-saws? He'd need a partner for the see-saws, though... Ah well. He shrugged and started walking towards them, and kept an eye out for any other freshlings that might need a partner as well. Maybe they could team up!

 Pepper was surprised a the amount of unfamiliar freshlings that were running around the playground this morning. Some of them weren't even in her other classes either. Maybe today was a day to make friends from new classes? A soft frown pulled on her lips as she thought about it. She would just have to ask the teacher later. For now, it was time to play! Visibly brightening, the pale demon looked around to see what she would most like to do.
The slides were always fun to do, but there certainly were quite a lot of other nightmares waiting in line for that. The sandbox was also full. Hmmm. OH! The see saws were open. But she'd have to find a friend to ride on it with. It was no fun to do it by yourself. Looking around, Pepper tried to see if she could see Auren or one of her other friends in the mix.

Just as he was about to give up, Andromeda spotted someone else across the way that seemed to be looking for a partner... maybe? Or perhaps she was just looking for a friend... oh well! He'd have to find that out, and the only way to do it would be to ask directly. With a flutter of his wings, he carefully made his way across the playground, towards the little mint demon.
"Hello!" He waved, smiling a little as he got closer. "I'm Andromeda. What's your name?" He tilted his head, wings fluttering a little more.

So far Pepper had had no luck in spotting any of her friends. Standing on her tiptoes, she tried to see if she could see any better up there. Nope, still no luck! But out of the corner of her eye she saw a purpley-bue fallen approach. "Hello!" she returned as he waved to her. "My name's Pepper,' she replied, watching his wings with interest. "It's very nice to meet you."
There wasn't anyone in her immediate area, so the other freshling must have come over just to talk to her. "Your wings are very pretty; can you fly?" The question slipped out before she thought to stop it.

Andromeda grinned, he liked that name! "That's a nice name. Oh! You can call me Andy if you want too, my name is kinda long...." He shrugged a little, most other kids had trouble saying it so he was fine with the nickname. His wings fluttered again at the question, settling more comfortably against his back. "Thank you! And, not really." He shook his head, "I'm still learning! I can glide a little bit though!"
He glanced back towards the see-saws, then back to Pepper again. "Do you wanna play on the see-saws?"

"Okay, I'll call you Andy then," Pepper replied. "That sounds fun!" she said in response. When the fallen looked over towards the see saws she did as well, happy to see that it was still mostly free. "Yeah, I'd been looking for Auren or one of my other friends, but they're not here. Would you wanna play with me?" It wasn't like she was going to leave her new friend in search of someone else, but if one of her other friends was there they could join as well. So it would be fun to play with this new nightmare anyway. Besides, he had really pretty wings. Pepper was a bit jealous of that.

He grinned, hopping in place a little in his excitement. "Oh good!" He clapped his hands together, and then tilted his head. "Who's Auren? Is that your friend's name?" He'd never met anyone named Auren, chances were they weren't in the same house or something... "Of course!" He nodded, he'd asked her to come join him on the see-saw, after all! He motioned for Pepper to follow him, then turned to go get in line for one of the see-saws.

"Yeah, Auren is my very best friend! We share the same room and most of the time I share my candy and stuff with him. I also know Leif and Maple, they're nice too," The demon told him with a happy grin. "Auren tends to play off by himself a lot, but that's ok, he likes it that way sometimes and he doesn't mind if I bother him 'bout stuff." Pepper and Auren rarely had class together, but she could always talk with him after their classes were over and they could sometimes work on homework together. "Do you have something like that with your roommate?"
At his gesture, Pepper perked up and followed after the fallen. "Do your wings ever get in the way when you slide or things like that?" she asked, the question popping in her head as she watched his wings. Thankfully, there were only a couple nightmares ahead of them waiting for the see-saws, so there shouldn't be too long of a wait for them to be able to play on it.

Andromeda nodded. "I see! That's really cool!" He moved into place, waiting patiently... "I do have a best friend that I share a room with, his name is Mikhail." He nodded again, giggling a little. "But Mikhail isn't here today..." He shrugged, watching the others in front of them play on the see-saw. He bounced a little on the balls of his feet, excited for their turn. It wouldn't be much longer!
The question drew his attention to her. He tilted his head, wings fluttering a bit. "Ummm... I guess? Sometimes? But not really. Except in jump rope! I can't do that very well." He frowned, and shrugged a bit. "But that's okay, I can do other things." He nodded, then looked at her tail. "Does your tail get in the way sometimes?"

"That's good!" Pepper quipped. "Maybe they're all playing together then?" she wondered aloud. It was possible, since everything was so jumbled today. "Oh! That one over there is open." Pointing over at the other set of see-saws, she brightened as she took Andy's hand and lead him over to it. Her little tail wiggled about happily, though she didn't notice.
"Oh yeah, jump rope would be hard with those. You'd have to swing the rope really wide to get it over them." Nodding, she reasoned out why it must be hard. "It hurts to sit on it, and it gets tangled up in jump rope too sometimes. When I slide I gotta either hold it or make sure I don't squish it." Letting go of his hand as they got to the see-saw, she put her hands on her hips and looked at it. "I don't think it'll go too high if one of us goes on first."

He blinked, he hadn't really thought of that! "Yeah! Maybe they are!" He took her hand, and followed her on over to the open see-saw. Yesssss. Finally a turn on the one playground toy he wanted to play with. The other stuff was okay, but see-saws put you up in the air! Swings were a close second, but the line for those was always really long....
"Ohhh, I bet so... I tried jumping rope in class once and it got all tangled in my wings so I had to have Ms. Persephone help me." He frowned, then let go of her hand to go get into position. "If we keep it leveled it should be okay!" He nodded, then stepped over the seat that was on the ground, then attempted to pull the see-saw up enough to lower the other side for Pepper.

Pepper nodded, now sure that that was what had happened. Their friends would make good friends just like Andy was with her! Beaming a bright smile at her new friend, she was wiped it away when she heard that. Actually, now that she thought about it, hadn't one of the fallen in her class got their wings all tangled? She'd noticed as she looked around for a people who might want to make a group for the big jump ropes.
"Yeah, there was a fallen in my class who did that. It looked like it might have hurt a bit to get it all tangled like that." She spoke as she moved to go to the other see-saw, letting him get over first. "Here goes!" The freshling waited til he was seated then swung her leg over. Perfect! He'd got it to the perfect height for her. Pepper flashed him a bright smile in thanks.

"Ah really?? I guess I'm kinda glad to know I'm not the only one, but that prolly hurt. It hurt me, anyway." He nodded, then waited for her to get all into position before he lowered himself down carefully to lift her up. "How fast do you wanna go?? I've only done this a couple a times." He nodded, concentrating hard on not accidentally shifting his weight too much in a way that would cause her to come flying down from being up so high. He could always flap his wings to brace for impact, but Pepper definitely couldn't! He'd sure feel bad if he hurt a new friend.

She was careful to lift her tail up before she sat down, letting it flop over the side as Andy sat. "Maybe a medium speed? Cuz if you go too slow then it's no fun, but too fast and you get thrown into the air," Pepper suggested. She had seen that happen to a litch one time. The other person had sat down too fast and the litch had gotten thrown off and had to go to the nurse. It had looked pretty painful. "Start and I can tell you if it's too fast," she nodded to him.
Since she was already in the air, she bent her knees a bit so that when he pushed off she would drop down fast enough that it was fun. She didn't do this too often either, but she was confident that they could figure it out between the two of them.

Andromeda nodded, wings fluttering a little in his excitement. Oooh he was glad Pepper had agreed to this! It was like flying practice but without as much danger for... well... getting hurt really bad. "Okay! I can do that." He nodded cheerily, and then proceeded to start them off at a fair push- not too rough but not too slow, either. "Is this okay?" He tiled his head, keeping a close watch on her reactions.
Maybe he'd get some of his other friends to do this later too... see-saws were a lot of fun! Maybe even Maria would like it- and she had wings too so they could mess with the tempo a little more.
