Na'ila and one of her mates, Nearachi, was seated near the edge of the lake. The Monarch was a constant presence in the pride, always walking amongst the people and willing to stop and talk, but the festival brought out a new cheerfulness that was not usual for the female. She smiled to herself, her tail flicking behind her.

"Isn't this lovely?" She mused quietly to her mate, her eyes sparkling. "Look at how the pride grows."

User Image
Nearachi grinned to himself, sitting close to his mate. "Hopefully it'll grow even more soon," he said with a cheeky wink. Na'ila rolled her eyes, but it was clear she was amused.

The soldier male glanced at the crowd, trying to spot the third of their harem. "Have you seen Thala?" He asked, receiving a shake of the head in response. His red eyes continue to scan the pride, trying to find the familiar form.

Lari was in her element. She loved a good festival, her face stretched in a broad grin. Although she was getting on in years, she still swayed happily, entertaining herself with dancing even though there was no music playing at that moment. Whatever, she looked gorgeous with or without music, she thought to herself cheerfully.

Her mates were...somewhere, she presumed. She wondered if she could convince them to dance with her.

User ImageUser Image
The two males stood next to one another, off to the side, cringing ever so slightly at their mothers display of dancing.

"This is weird," Luminoscer muttered under his breath, a sentiment that his brother echoed.

"Why aren't Dad or Papa stopping her?" Linistita grumbled.

A certain chocolate and white figure stood off to one side. Now no longer a cub, Sasha Hilalhuios still made little to no impact on the pride day-to-day. Always a lurker, he never took the spotlight, nor tried very hard to make himself known to others. He still lived where he had been born, as part of Omádasálfa. Unlike most young males his age, he had made no move to start a harem of his own, or indeed even shown an interest in a female. Any female. No, Sasha kept himself to himself, a quiet, reserved young adult rarely seen and never heard. In truth, he simply wasn't in possession of a loud or boisterous personality, but instead possessed a gentleness, a sensitivity that had seen other youngsters call him 'weird' and 'strange' outside of adult hearing.

In fact, this was the first time he had appeared at any large event, but still he stood a short distance from the other revellers, pale eyes watching, skimming over the currently assembled members. He did linger over the sight of the two large brothers, one a shimmering, royal blue, the other dark and mysterious. Their wing marking and similarity of colour assured him of their shared blood and their parentage, even if he had not known who they were he could have easily guessed. But Sasha, while quiet and often over looked, was always watching, and he knew most, if not all, the pride by name and familial relation.

Giz trotted happily towards the lake. He was alway interested in festivals and celebrations. Giz had witnessed a few in some of the prides he had spied on in his travels, most of them had looked like a great deal of fun. He wondered what might be in store for them tonight.

As he approached he noticed two of his brothers off to the side, they seemed unhappy or embarrassed. He chose not to go to them instead he came towards his mother who was dancing to whatever she heard in her head.

"Hello Momma." he greeted her as he came along beside her and sat down. "Looks like its going to be a fun night."

Kirimi was a little timid still. As she joined those who had gathered around the lake she looked around for the other members of her harem. She had been so uncertain about the living in a harem idea when she had first joined the pride but now the love for her mates had over taken her.

Keeping her eyes peeled she settled near the edge of the lake. She sat apart from others but not so far away that she looked as though she wanted no company. She hoped that her mates would appear soon and would join her. She was excited for the festival but nervous all at the same time.

Lo'ri was grinning from ear to ear. He was raring to go and see what the festival would bring. He trotted happily towards the lake a skip in his step. Despite being a fully grown male he was still so young at heart that he often he was caught doing things that only cubs would be seen doing. He had also made no attempt to make his own harem, or even join one... no he was single and at the moment happy to be so.

As he approached he scanned the crown for others of his family. He spotted Sasha right away but made no attempt to join him, his brother appeared to want to be alone. Instead he looked for his mother, he had an incredible bond with his mother and often wanted to spend every moment he could with her.

There was movement as more lions arrived. One was evidently another sibling of the two brothers he had already noticed. Unable to help himself he ran an appreciative eye over the newest vision of masculin beauty. Again there was the gorgeous blue and black colouring, and the graceful sweeping wing marking on his back. Sasha couldn't help the tiny flicker of envy deep in his chest. Why couldn't he be more like them? Bold and brave and handsome. Huffing out a tiny, regretful sigh he half wondered what on earth had possessed him to come out here. It was so unlike his nature, so.... brash a thing to do.

Just as he was about to turn tail and leave he spotted his marking-twin. Lo'ri. His brother was as bright and bubbly as Sasha was reserved and shy. His colours as well as his manners. Again Sasha felt a flicker of envy. His brother never seemed to care what others thought of him, and he seemed... happy. Happy in himself, in his role, in everything! Wincing as he realised he sounded like a whiner in his own head, Sasha took a deep breath and decided to be less himself and more like his brother... With nerves jingling in his toes he set off across the area, following his brother's path to the lake's edge.

“Hello brother..” He called out, frustrated when his voice remained soft and whispery with the need to remain quiet and not draw attention to himself. Even when he tried to be noticed, he was still invisible!

Lo'ri was pleased when he heard his brother call his name. They were twins, their markings identical but coloured different, Lo'ri had been given all the colour and Sasha none of it. Lo'ri had never met their father but he assumed that he had been coloured just like Sasha as Lo'ri had clearly gotten all of his colour from his momma.

"I am glad that you joined me." Lo'ri said. He toned down his usual bubbliness to almost a normal level. "Come on lets get closer to the action, the lake looks so beautiful!" Lo'ri mused. He gave his brother a nuzzle and tried to cox him closer to the waters edge.

Relief filled him as his twin slowed and turned. Thank goodness he had been heard! There was only one thing worse than forcing himself to make a loud noise, and that was doing so and then not being heard despite his effort. Stopping to nod shallowly at his brother, his brother who was colourful and bright and friendly to all... where as he was the opposite, his colours muted, as quiet and subdued as Sasha was inside. He wondered briefly if their fur colour had formed to match their personalities… If that was the case, he had always been destined to be the invisible one, the silent one, lost in the background of his much louder and bubbly siblings. He was different after all. The other cubs had said so. And while he was now full grown, those words still haunted him.

Still, Lo’ri had never treated him like that, being just as bubbly and friendly to Sasha as he was to everyone else. So with typical effort he smiled back at his twin. “I… ok..” He finally replied, having nothing less forward to offer instead as a goal for their short journey. Returning the brief gesture of affection –that was something Sasha could do without any feelings of guilt or discomfort- he followed behind Lo’ri as his brother moved closer to the lake.

After reaching it, he fumbled mentally for a moment, seeking the words he wanted while dredging up the courage to utter them. “Have you seen the rest of the family?” A long sentence for the quiet male, and even then, offered in a low, subdued tone of voice.

User ImageThe large brown lion had heard sounds of what sounded to be a festival of sorts in the distance and had lumbered his way to where he was now. Pale eyes watched the lions that had gathered around a lake and the light of the moon illuminated all that stood around. He was curious to know what was going on. Where they looking for things?

He looked around curiously for a moment and made his way towards the lions slowly, he was new to the area and didn't want to cause an uproar as he wasn't part of this pride. He wasn't even sure if they were friendly to outsiders but he approached none the less. Besides, he could take care of himself if it came to him being chased off. He was still curious to see what was happening.

Thala had gotten distracted with her crafting. It hadn't been until she couldn't see that she had wandered back home to cuddle with her mates. The orange lioness liked to be alone and free of distractions while she made things, after all. It wasn't until she had gotten home when she realized she was missing the festival!

She quickly dumped her project in the corner, frustrated and cursing. She hadn't wanted to miss the start, and now she was going to be late. It took her a moment to get herself ready, and she headed out of the den.

The Artisan cursed a bit under her breath as she made it to the edge of the small crowd. She began skirting the edges, not wanting to push through any of the specific groups as she made her way to her own harem.

Aji, on his part, was enjoying that Lari was having fun. He sat back and watched on with the rest of the festival. "She's having fun, Loves," Aji told his children. "Why don't you join her, or make some music she can dance to." Aji, the concerned mother hen he was, kept a lookout for everyone to make sure nothing bad happened. He was always concerned, but he couldn't help it.

Fleri and Pomona had wandered in a bit later as well. Fleri was shy, and she didn't quite like bigger parties or large gatherings much, but with some gentle coaxing she had decided to join the festivities. Pomona was achingly proud of her mate. While they weren't big enough to be called a harem yet, the pair was already quite committed to one another.

Spying the rest of their families, Pomona nudged Fleri towards her father, Aji, who was sitting back to watch as well.

As Eos approached he took note of the bright colors a lot of the lions and lionesses had and this brought a small smile to his lips. He honestly preferred brighter colored females, they gave him something to look at. Though the males weren't bad either.

As he made his way towards the small crowds he stumbled across some berries and sniffed them slightly. They seemed edible but he wasn't one for eating things he wasn't sure about and just left them alone. He tried to look for someone who was within talking distance to ask where he was and what was going on and spotted a brightly colored orange and blue lioness walking along the edge of the crowds and she was going to pass by him.

"Excuse me, do you have a moment?" He asked Thala cautiously and sincerely as he didn't know if she was going to be friendly or not.

Giz was happy at his mother's side humming softly. Most saw Giz as just a vain lion, he was in truth, but he was also very loving. He scanned the crowd looking for his mates and frowned when he couldn't see them here. Giz hoped they were together, he always worried about the two females, the only thing that helped him sleep at night was that they had each other when he was gone out in the rogue lands.

As he scanned the crowd he spotted his sister and her mate. "Pomona, Fleri, over here." he called to them. He loved seeing his sister so happy with her mate, out of their litter only a few of them had found a mate.

Seaki

Lo'ri kept quiet listening to his brother speak. He had a bad habit of talking over others but with Sasha he was always careful to listen. "Hmm look there is Fleri." Lo'ri said gesturing towards their sister and her pink mate.

Lo'ri heard as the blue male called out to Fleri and Pomona and decided to remain quiet. Perhaps it was better if he and Sasha just kept to themselves for now. Hopefully soon their mother would join them and round out their little group.

User ImageImarogbe looked around curiously at the festivities taking place by the lake.

Ima had been in his den dozing a little when he heard about the event that taking place that evening. It wasn't often that there was something exciting going on in the lands, nevermind at this time of night. He could see that quite a few of his fellow pride members were present at the gathering. Scanning the crowd, he looked for a familiar face and eventually came across one of his beloved's faces.

Gradually, the male made his way over to where he could see Kirimi standing apart from everyone else by the lake. He was happy to see her there, glad that she had decided to be present with everyone else.

Once he got to her, he said cheekily, "Hey there, I'm not too late for the party am I?"

User ImageIt had been a long day for the Law-Speaker, and while he was tired, Sandalphon felt accomplished. He had spent much of the day conversing with several of the Constables and various other members of the pride before starting his own work. Sandalphon liked to be 'in the know'; he needed to know that everything was running smoothly, with no kinks, just to sooth his own mind. Thankfully, he had yet to run into any truly concerning issues.

Beyond his mate's dance moves, that is.

Coming onto the festival, the grey male watched Lari as she moved and shook his head with a little smile. He saw Aji and a few of their children, which perked him up considerably. It was hard not to feel lighter around his family.

Astghayin'gisher Larihuios arrived shortly behind Sandalphon, looking as stern as ever. While he had taken after the grey lion's more subdued nature, Asta's intense work ethic had led him to be...well, somewhat of a stiff. He was a large, burly male who was as excited to be a part of the festival as one would having a claw removed. In all actuality, he would still be patrolling if Sandalphon hadn't stopped to pick him up. "Everyone needs a break now and then." Which was true, he supposed. Asta didn't mingle much as a rule. It was uncomfortably awkward, and just...exhausting. It was what Sandal had said just before breaking away from him that had Asta truly worried.

"Who knows? Maybe you'll even find someone to love tonight."

He screwed his mouth into something that walked the line of a pout and a tight lipped scowl.

He had been tricked, and with so many of his family here he couldn't walk away without causing concern.
User Image

Seeing her offspring made some of Tsubaki's nerves disappear. The willowy lioness had looked forward to this evening for as long as she had known about it, and not for the same reasons as others. She wanted to see her cubs, grown and happy, mingling with others. Fleri was so close to her Pomona she couldn't help but to smile. There was a love there, an understanding that Tsubaki had worried her cubs wouldn't have. She had fretted so much that they would be cursed to relive her trials in love. This was beyond amazing.

Her eyes traveled over the group and found her sons, talking amicably with one another. Lo'ri didn't' seem to be having any trouble finding his place, not that she worried he would, but Sasha was even getting out. Her sensitive son was an eternal mystery to Tsubaki. True, she didn't mind that he remained at home, but he also seemed detached in some ways. His nervousness, the way he watched others as if he were envious...it reminded Tsubaki of a younger her. Maybe, just maybe, when he found what he was looking for he would blossom, as she had. Just maybe...

User Image

"If you keep starrin' at him like that, t' lad will get a complex." Tsubaki jumped, anxiously moving her paws to the side as the petite Nadeshiko came to her side. The female had her ever present scowl on her face, though Tsu knew she wasn't actually mad at anything. Her mother had a name for such a face, and it seemed to fit the rainbow female. 'Resting b***h face'.

"Just because Hilal be gone visitin' his da', doesn't mean that we can't have fun." While she and Hilal had yet to decide where their relationship was going, Nadeshiko had been their to help raise the cubs. She had seen the boys come into their manes, watched while their girls went off into the world...and was glad to finally have more room in the den. She loved them dearly, but Gods above, a girl needed some space. Nadeshiko tucked her head underneath Tsu's and snuggled up closer to the skinny female. Tsu seemed to still for only a moment before melting into the offered warmth.
