Tordenskall didn't often complain of boredom. He tried his best to avoid becoming such. Especially now, when frequent raiding parties were leaving seemingly every day to go a-viking. Yet as much as he enjoyed those outings Skall was also trying to limit himself.

You see in his mind he believed he shouldn't have had to rely on Vikings in order to remain entertained. Having the privilege of going on several vikings as of the late was one thing, but finding excuses to go on vikings because nothing else was interesting was another. Vikings of course were meant to be fun, but fun wasn't the goal here.

Entertainment... No, it was more of a distraction he was after. He had the itch to be distracted from everyday life. To not pay heed to the fact that he was no spring buck anymore and that his back was beginning to ache. To ignore that he still hadn't honored what his deceased parents would have wanted by now, for him to begin a family of little reavers of his own.

He snorted out in frustration at his predicament, and rolled himself in a patch of sand to clear his head of those thoughts. No matter, he just needed to find something to keep himself busy. Or at least that's what he told himself when he stood up and shook his fur, causing a temporary cloud of dust to form as he did so.

User Image "You really think so?" Phosphor asked no one in particular as he walked through the prides lands, heading nowhere specific. He was out for a walk to speak with Asmoday but to anyone just watching he probably looked a bit strange. He spoke as if there was another lion right beside him, complete with hems and haws, nods, and laughs where appropriate to the one-sided conversation.

"Well, he is strong. It's a shame his so pale...although he's white and black. I think the Viking will be the deciding factor," he said, answering a satement that hadn't been asked outside of his mind. He paused for a moment as a little cloud of dust before him distracted him, his blue-green eyes focusing on the yellow lion that emerged as the dust settled.

"Oh...hello!" he said with a little grin. "For a moment I thought I'd happened across a very large bird."

The pale lion blinked a couple times in slight surprise at the other reaver before him. His face initially carried a slightly hostile expression as Skall mentally scolded himself for not realizing that another was in the area. Then again, the pride was huge. Nowadays it was almost impossible not to find someone in every corner of the pride lands.

He quickly softened his alerted face into that of a calm smile, and he gave a brisk laugh. "Ha! Well that would be an interesting find!" He exclaimed. He didn't immediately recognize the other male but something had told Skall he had encountered him once or twice before. That or his brain was playing tricks on him, something the yellow lion wouldn't rule out automatically given he had just spent the last few minutes rolling in a pile of dirt... Oh well, at the very minimum he was probably a friendly acquaintance of some sort.

"I suppose I do seem rather bird-like." Skall twisted his neck to stare at his 'wing markings' on his back. They didn't really look like wings to Skall, but he had been told once or twice that they did. He gazed at them for a few seconds before turning back to the other stormborn. "In which case I should thank you for not trying to eat me!" He chuckled. Speaking from his own personal experience, it wasn't the nicest feeling having another lion take a bite out of your rump. Certainly not one who thought you were lunch! Ha!

The good-natured reply had Phosphor smiling at the yellow lion. He certainly seemed hardy and his scars proved that he was a fighter. Phos tilted his head a bit, still grinning as he sized up the other male. His band of Reavers was still non-existent, but he was working on getting together some recruits. Perhaps this male would be interested.

"Not to worry, I won't try to eat you," he said, the tone in his voice teasing but good-natured as the other lion was. "It's hard to meet everyone in this pride but I feel as though I've seen you in passing before. It's hard to forget a pelt as bright as that. What's your name? I'm Phosphor."

Perhaps a name would ring a bell as to his rank. The scars and trinkets made him hopeful that he was speaking with an experienced Reaver. The male he had spoken to earlier was still a Freeborn and as much as he was for giving new lions a chance, he hoped he'd be able to add some know-how as well as fresh blood.

"Tordenskall." The yellow lion gave his name with a slight dip of his head; in the almost shape of a nod. With a grunt he added after, "or Skall, if you'd rather." His name was a bit of a mouthful, or at least some of the younger reavers made it seem that way, having to take a moment to think on how to say it properly. Oblivious to the yellow lion he often spoke his own name rather quickly, which was as to why 'those youngsters' struggled with it to begin with. None had bothered to re-ask for his name and Skall was just so accustom to saying his own darn name that he didn't care most days if he was even saying it right or not...

Giving a small grunt of a cough he thought for a moment on where he had seen this male before. "Hmm. Ah, you're one of the newer captains aren't you?" Or was he getting him confused with some other young lad? No, no, he was rather certain that Phosphor was a newly promoted reaver captain. Probably. Unless the dust had finally gotten to his head.

Phosphor, used to strange and long names from his old pride, repeated the jumbled sound a few time to himself before nodding. "It's nice to put a name to the face, Tordenskall." And it was, honestly. Phosphor liked to know those around him and it always bothered him to see a lion, even in passing, and not know their name after three or four times crossing paths. It seemed today was the end of that annoyance with Skall, at least.

"Ah yes, that's me," he added with a grin, standing just a little taller. It wasn't easy to become a captain here and he knew it was something to be proud of. "Just a few days ago to be exact. Now begins the process of picking my crew."

He glanced around before moving a little closer to lower his voice. He didn't want to insult anyone that might happen to walk by. "I hope you don't mind my asking, Tordenskall, but would you possibly consider joining me on a Viking to see how we mesh? I'd love to add your experience to my crew should you find I'm a suitable captain."

Skall was a bit shocked with himself as he found himself repressing the bubbling urge to give a light chuckle. Picking a reliable crew was serious business after all. He had witnessed many a-captain who had merely taken whichever lions they pleased with them on vikings, only to come back from raids utterly drained and defeated. Or worse yet- some simply never return at all. If he even remotely had any desire to ever at some point strive to be a captain himself Skall would make no such foolish move. He'd do exactly what Phosphor was, skimming through all the reavers and seeing who was worth while to be in the group.

Still, it seemed a tad bit entertaining to Skall that a captain wanted him on his crew. He was a bit flattered actually, though he felt no need to voice such.

"Mmm. That is quite the offer to consider." He voiced thoughtfully, a nod accompanying his words. So many variables... Phosphor was a new captain, there was no way to tell his he was good at being such. Still, Skall reminded himself being a new captain was far from being a new reaver...

"I think that's a splendid idea." He said after a while. "Whenever you're ready, let us go a-viking."

Phosphor waited for Skall's answer and, when he got one, grinned broadly. "Great! I was hoping you'd say that. I'm taking out another recruit soon if you'd like to join us then. Hopefully I'll have scrounged up a few more trial lions to take as well."

He could probably just take a few Reavers that were waiting to head out for some fun, not have them a part of his actual band. Numbers were important when going out, although he didn't have any plans to make it an intense Viking. Just enough to put everyone through their paces to make sure they met his standards and he met theirs.

"I think I know the general area of your den...your pelt stands out so I doubt I'll have trouble tracking you down. I'll let you know once we're ready to head out, all right?"

"Excellent." The yellow lion gave a wide smile in contentment. The stormborn was home to lions of every kind of shape and color, but Skall was indeed bright enough to stick out rather easily. He had no doubts in the captain's claim that he'd be able to search him out later when the viking was ready to happen.

"Will do then." He nodded at Phosphor, then turned his body around to leave the area. He needed to find something else to do for the remainder of the hours until nightfall. Hmm. Maybe he'd enjoy some moonshine. Seemed like a good time for it. With that in mind he trotted off, the faint tune of jolly humming leaking from his lips...

Phosphor gave a little nod and turned to go as well, glad that this recruiting phase was going well. They weren't conventional Stormborn nor were they what he might approach if he hadn't been searching for strong lions, but he was glad his own stereotypes were being challenged by the few that had agreed to go out with him.

He trotted off, a little pep in his step as he began to chat with what appeared to be himself.
