It wasn't that she forgot, because she didn't. No. She'd actually really been looking forward to talking to Corey again. Jovial enthusiasm attracted jovial enthusiasm, plus she was going to learn more about the weird stuff that had been happening in DC. Things just got in the way. School, homework, another run in with the guy with the peacock feather in his hat, another dude in a military uniform, her Russian crush coming to DC after his tour in the Navy, getting a job at the pawn shop---and from that a lead to look up stuff at the public library, and she did.

She had read stories about these so called 'terrorists' as well as watched all she could of the amateur videos of creatures on youtube. It was a lot to digest, yet not enough to really give her a solid idea of anything. Sigh.

Now though, she had some time. Finally. She had shot some texts to Corey, and figured out a good time to pop by.

Thus lead her to the alley, behind the arcade, and to the door he said would be there, which led to his home. So cool. Olga pushed the buzzer, and then looked around, idly rocking on the balls of her feet.

Corey didn't think too much about it when Olga didn't text him right away. She was a kid, settling into a new town and a new school. She had far more interesting things to do with people her own age. And probably some important things to do too if she was actually studying at school.

In fact it wasn't until after a week that he found himself looking at his phone thoughtfully one night, after coming home from a night of patrolling. He'd almost wished he'd gotten her number so that he could check in on her. But then he'd brushed the thought off again, she was probably fine, she said she'd be careful.

It had been a pleasant surprise when the texts finally did come and he'd shot back a few texts to figure out a time and date.

He'd tried to tidy up a bit. Okay.. so maybe all he'd done was take out all the trash and confirm that his dirty clothing was actually tucked away as opposed to just laying willy nilly across furniture and the floor. But it was the thought that counted.

It only took a few moments after her press of the buzzer for the sound of movement to be heard behind the door. And after a few more moments, the door creaked open presenting Olga with Corey, who leaned against the doorway as if he was blocking her way... to a set of weird dark stairs that led upwards.

"What's the password?" He joked, doing his best to make an intimidating face. Of course he looked pretty darn intimidating, in those cargo shorts and gamer tshirt.

Olga appreciated the shirt, she really did. It was a good one. She herself didn't look all that different. Her flannel was a different color and her shirt was simply a different Outlander shirt...yup. That Olga had an expansive wardrobe (sarcasm).

She grinned at the appearance of Corey at the door. Oh ho...he wanted a password, huh? Her expression turned into an ever wider fox eyed grin. She reached and patted her messenger bag, where she was carrying two books for him, among a few other things. "Smut." That was most definitely the password, of that she didn't have a doubt.

"Acceptable." He agreed with a serious nod, before it all devolved into a goofy grin and laugh, shifting out of the way to shoo her towards the staircase. "Head on up."

There were a decent amount of stairs, though they weren't particularly steep and when she reached the end of the darkened stairwell they were met with a doorway that led to someplace much brighter. The living/sitting room portion of his apartment was probably the largest room of all, and was definitely the one he spent the most time in. Large windows were open letting in plenty of light and the comfortable early fall air. A couch and couple mismatched chairs (obviously chosen far more for their sinkable comfyness over having a matching set or something that looked nice) were near the center of the room, pointed towards the crowning glory and focal point. A huge tv cradled in different consoles and console accessories. And then an explosion outward of memorabilia, cluttering the walls and counter spaces. It was most definitely a gaming room, but it could also be a sitting room if they wanted.

Finger cocking to the left he pointed through the opening in the wall that lead to a small kitchen that housed a tiny (and mostly unused table) and of course the fridge. If she preferred the stiffness of wooden chairs over being sucked into a chair that was cool too, but first thing first. "What can I get you? Mountain Dew, Root beer, hot chocolate, water?"

"There is milk too." He said after a moment thoughtfully. "I wouldn't trust the milk though." He wouldn't trust anything with an expiration date.

"Huzzah!" Olga cheered with a pumped fist. She grinned as she scooted by him and zipped up the stairs. How exciting! She was going to see someone's hooooouse~

Upon entering, Olga untied her boots and pulled them off, leaving them by the door. She then wandered into the gaming room, taking in everything with wide and excited eyes. "Cool." She breathed. From the HUGE TV (way bigger than hers), to all the gaming systems and then to all the memorabilia...it was like a game con in here. Olga came back when he cocked a finger, peering around the corner to see the small kitchen. "Oooooooh---Root beer, please!" She grinned at him, and then turned back towards the gaming room. "Can we sit here?" She jabbed a thumb to the very inviting furniture of the gaming room---where it was also brighter and had the fresh Fall breeze rolling in.

"Also, how have you been?"

He followed after her, shutting the bottom door but not bothering with the door up at the top of the stairs. Glancing at her schools he couldn't help but smirk wondering whether it was a sign of politeness or a sign that she was getting comfortable and planned to stay for quite awhile. He hoped it was the later because there was no need for politeness and her shoes certainly weren't going to dirty anything. The duffle bag of cleaning supplies in the corner of the kitchen after all weren't for this place. All his efforts of upkeep went toward the arcade and now.. recently.. towards a tiny little Wonder out there in the wide expanses of space.

He grinned, like a proud papa, as she looked at his things. Corey didn't have a ton of money and what didn't go to the arcade was usually blown in things for this room, precious treasures of fun instead of things like you know.. nice clothing, decent amounts of food, anything to better himself to image of a productive adult. There was something quite wonderful about someone up here actually appreciating it, as opposed to the dreadful look his parents gave him when they came to visit. Or even the expressions of couple of girls he'd tried to bring home over the years.

"Of course! Find yourself a seat, try not to get lost in it." He winked before disappearing momentarily to procure drinks for the two of them.

"It's all good." Came a call out of the kitchen as he dug through the fridge. "Business is good enough and I'm breathing - so there isn't much to complain about."

As he slipped back into the room with a can in both hands, he cackled a little playfully. "Plus of course haaaallooooweeeen."

Soda deposited in her hand he swung around the couch flopping onto one of the edges with gusto. They were good chairs and couches. Sure they had a few stains.. a tiny hole or worn fabric here or there. But they were the kind of chairs that had been weathered and worn over the years, that slowly molded around your body and did not mind if you were going to be there in that same spot for the next 6 hours. Not even when you beat on them with an angry fist while yelling at some little s**t-talking punk over the gaming headphones. It probably was a good thing he didn't have neighbors.

Settling in with a wiggle and popping the top of his soda he looked to her expectantly. "And what about you? Been enjoying Destiny City? Finding fun stuff to do and staying out of trouble?"

Lucyal
Soooo he's a pretty open dude and will very likely spill his guts, including proper names for stuff/general info. If there is anything you don't want her to know let me know so that I don't mess up anything for you. ;3

She grinned, and while he retrieved drinks she didn't sit down just yet. Instead she leaned over the various memorabilia and got closer looks at various things. So. Cool. There was nothing more awesome than to see someone proudly and enthusiastically displaying their passions. "Yeah, that is pretty good!" She called back, and straightened when he entered the room, drifting back towards him. "Oh, you bet!" She grinned, and took the soda. "Thank you---yeah! I've been having horror movie TV marathons as back ground noise." She looked around at the various furniture, before deciding to settle on the other end of the couch Corey was occupying---after all, that was the best place to have a conversation. She popped her own soda tab, and took a swig. Mmm. Root Beer.

At his question, she let out a laugh, and then a whoosh of air. "Weeeeeeeeeell---Geeze....uh...." she reached up and rubbed the back of her neck. "Well, I'm doing good, yeah! Great, even--- Been enjoying the city and finding lots of stuff to do---and well, honestly not staying out of trouble." She shot him a sheepish grin. "I crossed paths that the guy with the peacock hat again---and I think I ran into another military dude too---OH! And I also did some research at the public library, suggested by my boss at the pawn shop---I looked up past news articles about the 'terrorists'--" Here she made air quotes, "And I also looked up amateur footage of creatures on YouTube! I didn't even know that was a thing!"

Apparently once she got going too, she got going.

Settled into the couch he opened and began to nurse his own drink as she began to talk, quite prepared for and expecting a fully long winded flurry for words. And at first it even started out good.

But it didn't take long for his brows to furrow a bit as she mentioned running into the Negaverse captain again. And maybe another one. AND she was specifically hunting out information on youma and terrorists. Hadn't she heard a word he'd said before? Thank god she was still okay. Maybe he did have some kind of a spidey sense after all when he'd been randomly worrying about her earlier that week.

A very dramatic and deliberate sigh escaped Corey, his face had an expression that seemed to say 'Really? RRREEEAALLY?'

"I'm glad you're alright Olga, even after all of that." And he was, his expression far more perplexed and exasperated then angry. "But didn't your parents ever teach you that curiousity killed the cat? And you don't have those 8 extra lives to fall back on."

The sigh and expression wasn't missed, and Olga hunched her shoulders a bit while shooting him the widest and most sheepish grin. Sorry, but not sorry. Being a novelist, wanting to learn as much as possible to help spin threads into a better story just made her way too curious and nosy for her own good.

She laughed. "My dad's retired army veteran, and my mom's a flower child---" And that really said a lot. Her grin turned more cheerful. "Curiosity wraps up with ambition---besides, curiosity may have killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back!" Olga set her root beer between her knees, hugging the can tight as she rifled through her ever present messenger bag. "Can't exactly say I'm satisfied yet though---I've got more questions than answers!"

She pulled out her small journal, and flipped it open. It was a well used and well loved leather journal, packed with lots of loose leaf notes and Polaroid photos. She fished two out, and ended up scooting closer to Corey on the couch so that she could look at them with him too. One Polaroid was of the Captain they were both familiar with, but the picture was blurred from the motion of the Captain and herself in the struggle. Still, it wasn't hard to distinguish the cap with the peacock feather, and his hair. The other Polaroid photo was incredibly clear in contrast, and showed a lieutenant on a bench.

Olga waved the blurry photo a bit. "From the first time I ran into him, yeah? This one---" She gestured to the boy on the bench. "He was reclining on a bench outside the Seven-Eleven close to the DCU campus---late at night. Is he one of them too?" Bright eyes turned up to Corey.

He frowned just as deliberately as his sigh had been when she shot him that sheepish grin and tried to turn his turn of phrase against him. But again it was a frown of exasperation. It wasn't like he could stop her or anything.. if she obviously wasn't going to listen. So instead he'd apparently just be left to fret and worry. And make faces at her.

As she pulled out her journal he looked curiously, eyes widening at the actual Polaroid pictures. Sure enough the peacock feathered man was familiar, even blurry. And the other one, though unfamiliar was clearly still reconizable by his uniform.

Jesus.

What if someone found her journal of information? That was pretty much a death sentence. Or an invitation for corruption. Wait... maybe he was right all along and this had been a clever plan to catch him off guard after all. But deep down he couldn't believe that. If it was then Olga could just go ahead and take his starseed as her Oscar.

"Yeah, they're both Negaverse." He huffed finally, grumpily.

Olga blinked. "Nega...verse?" She echoed. She stared at him for a bit longer, and then her brows knitted as she looked back down at the photos. "...Is that their gang name?" That was quite the creative one at that! Nothing like those gang names she had seen on the History Channel whenever her dad would watch it.

"...Are these guys the 'terrorists' that all the newspapers talk about?"

Woah. Was she finally starting to get some answers!?

Iris_virus
PostPosted: Tue Oct 13, 2015 7:19 am

"I guess you could call it a 'gang' name if you wanted to. They're more of a group or organization though. Not just some tiny gang."

God he was so dumb. Probably going to get himself killed. Or maybe.. maybe he'd keep her from getting killed if he gave her enough information so she'd stop snooping. He kind of doubted it, looking down at the little notebook and considering the amount of interest and work she's seemingly put in over the past couple of weeks. But Corey was an optimistic soul - he could hope and blindly lie to himself.

Taking a drink of soda, he shifted to get himself comfortable.

"They're just one of a couple of groups that people label as 'terrorists'. Though personally I'd say the name fits these guys better then any of the other groups. They're the ones that usually cause the most trouble and do the most damage."

"But there are Knights, senshi, negaverse, dark mirrors, monsters, guardians..." He was ticking away each name thoughtfully on his fingers. "And like... 'other'." Crazy a** random bullshit like scary shadow women that could plunge the moon into magical eclipses for a full week and create a bajillion murderous shadow people.

"That Negaverse guy you met must have just been hunting for energy or something if he just let you go." Some of them weren't that bad, Corey had to believe that. Many of them were probably kids.. just like the young senshi that often saved his a**. But it was hard to believe the same about that particular Captain. The one who had gouded him into a fight despite his attempts to resist one.

Oh...more of an organization, huh? That meant...a lot were in it...

Olga then couldn't help but stare at him as he listed off---well. A lot of things. Her eyes were slowly growing wider as the list went on. Thoughts were rapidly firing in her head, and before she went off on speculating tangents, she just decided she should be asking. A part of her wondered if Corey was somehow pulling her leg---not so much with the Negaverse information, but the others. She actually encountered the Negaverse people...but not these others ones. On the other hand though...if there were people who could drain energy by touch...who was to say there wasn't more...? She was more open to believing since she had experienced it first hand.

"Knights...like dudes in medieval armor running around? What are Senshi? Dark Mirrors?" Monsters...she'd seen some videos. "And what are Guardians?" The rapid firing of questions wasn't over though. "Why does the Negaverse hunt for energy?"

Iris_virus
PostPosted: Tue Oct 13, 2015 12:50 pm

There was a very distinct snort as she asked about the armor, not at her question, but at the sheer wish and desire that he actually had medieval armor instead of well... whatever the hell you wanted to call his uniform. Shaking his head a little, as if realizing that he might have offended her with the laugh, he shrugged. "A few of them actually have armor or look like old English knights." Camelot certainly did. "But most of them don't actually. What they look like depends entirely on what planet they're connected to. Knights of Venus tend to have lots of frills and Mercury knights are more like... tech and fur."

It sounded more and more like he was talking about a video game, and that was perhaps why he continued to prattle on without realizing it (or how crazy he sounded).

"Senshi are like.. girls in skirts running around casting magic. They're pretty bad a** actually." If this were a game where you could choose your classification he'd have definately chosen senshi. Well.. preferably minus the skirt - because that might have been one of the very few ways to make his uniform actually worse.

"Dark mirrors are a weird dark version of senshi. They work with the Negaverse sometimes.. against the senshi and knights. And Guardians well..." He paused, making a bit of a face. Sure everything he'd said before sounded crazy, but this was about to be the coup de gras. "The Guardians are cats. That talk." He knew how that sounded. And the expression on his face made it clear he knew how it sounded as he paused a moment to let her respond.

"I'm not entirely sure what they're collecting all their energy for, I've never really got a chance to directly ask. I assume to power their monsters and other crazy nefarious stuff."

Olga was too absorbed into everything he was telling her to even ponder if that laugh was mocking. She just stared at him, rapt with attention, her lips parted a bit in the sheer--- well....contemplation of all this stuff. Knights with different looks? Connected to different planets? Not countries? What. It really did sound like a video game, or up more Olga's alley---some kind of far out fantasy novel.

Girls who ran around in skirts casting magic...like...magical girls? Then there were apparently dark magical girls? THEN TALKING CATS?

There were a lot of questions she wanted to ask Corey. She also wanted to ask if he was joshing her but---but there was just a way in which he spoke---very specific with details, and in his tone--- that made her think, even just a bit---that there was more beyond the guys in military uniforms. She also just kept reminding herself of the amateur video footage she had seen of monsters on YouTube.

The question that finally made it out of her stunned stupor was, "How do you know all of this?"
