Black Rose slipped soundlessly through the thick trees of the forest even though she was running. Her talons wrapped around fallen logs and the thick roots of trees allowing her to propel herself forward with greater ease than most soquili could manage but it was not just the claws that she had to thank for her stealth. Most of that had to do with how often she had run down this particular path in her youth. She was mostly grown now though not as grown as she would likely get. She was entirely leg and very little chest. Her mother assured her that it was only because she hadn’t yet grown into her adult body and one day she would stop looking so ungainly. Rose greatly looked forward to that day so that she didn’t look like she was walking around on stilts but until then she made use of her long legs to race faster and fasted down the secret wooded path.
Today was a special day. It was to be a meeting day for The Hedge Club. It was a very secret and extremely exclusive club that only very special people were allowed to join. They met as often as they could manage but life occasionally got in the way of things. Today had been selected carefully as a day that the members would be free to meet to the point that they were to clear their schedules of anything else. Rose grinned to herself. If they didn’t meet up today she would be hunting a certain someone down but in her heart she knew the club would have a successful meeting today. They definitely would. It had been too long to miss it.
As Black Rose drew close to the designated meeting spot she sniffed the air. She couldn’t smell anything more than a few squirrels which meant two things: no kalona or walkers had invaded and she was the first to arrive. Rose wasn’t sure whether she wanted to purr from the glee of possibly getting to startle the club upon arrival or if she wanted to groan in frustration over having to wait. In the end she did neither and simply trotted over to her designated place on one side of the hedge. She flopped onto the ground and tucked her legs in to start what could be a very long wait. She couldn’t go do something else in the meantime. The rules of The Hedge Club stated that you must great the members from your place on one side of the hedge before club activities could begin. She was eager to start club activities so Black Rose would do her duty and sit on her side until the rest of the club arrived. It would be much faster that way, besides, she didn’t want Allie to have to wait on her.
