Cassie rolled her shoulders, feeling her heavy wings shift with the movement. She wasn't getting old, but her body was really starting to protest her long nights of studying, no matter how much she changed up the location. She needed to get out more, and particular, probably should focus on flying more too. Yawning to herself, she stuck a ripped edge of her study notes into her book for reference before packing her bag and slinging it over her shoulder. She was so close to the end, and Cassie didn't want to lose her momentum with University so close to the horizon.

Quietly Cassie crossed the library, noting the large clock that hung on the wall. It was only an hour and a half until curfew, so that meant she had stayed here pretty late today since she had found a table as soon as her last class had let out. It was quiet, and the staff didn't even manage a look of relief as she passed. (Cassie hadn't checked out a book in a while, hoping to leave in good graces with the staff, but there was a few volumes she desperately hoped Grendel carried as well.) As she headed for the doors, she noticed that she had had company in the library - a dark haired junior not too far off. She gripped the strap for her book bag, tilting her head as she watched. Silently Cassie hoped the girl wasn't as stressed out as she, being here so late in the evening.

Her tutoring skills kicking in, she glanced over her shoulder at the librarian before approaching the Giest junior. She put on a soft smile, standing at the end of the table. "It's a little early in the semester for an all nighter," she greeted quietly, raising a pale hand in greeting. "Cassie. Can I help you with anything? I've tutored a lot of subjects before." Her expression was easy and warm, wanting to help out the girl.

Hope this works, I sort of winged it. Let me know if you want something changed off the bat.

Hearing the voice, Odessa nearly jumped. The movement caused a couple of books to drop from her hands, falling on her feet. "Owww..." She protested to the pain, but it hadn't seemed to care. Frowning, she bent to pick them up before her eyes met Cassie's. Her face flushed and she shook it back and forth. "Not exactly an all nighter..." She replied, placing the books on a table. "I'm new.. and I'm trying to make sure I have all the books I need for the semester is all." She plucked a small piece of paper, waving it in the air, words were scribbled on it indicating a small list of materials. "But thank you for the offer! I think I'm missing just one now.." She blinked around at the library, noticing that it was getting quieter and closer to bed time than she had previously realized.

(Ack, sorry it's so crappy.. @.@;; )

Cassie jumped back, lifting her hands a little. "Oh!" she breathed, bending down to pick up on of the books. She held it out as Odessa got situated. "Sorry, didn't mean to startle," the Fallen offered as she put on a soft smile, wings settling against the curve of her back. She had just been nosy, and a little bit bored after all.

She glanced around, the librarian not paying attention to them quite yet. Her bright gaze slid back, maintaining the same warm expression. "I know this place pretty well, may I help? At least carry something?" She asked, brushing her light pink locks back from her face. She felt bad for startling the new student, and well, she did know the library awfully well. She was going to miss it when she graduated.

Her eyes drifted to the books Odessa had already accumulated. "You have quite the assortment already, what house are in?" Cassie asked, dragging her fingers over the strap of her bag where it rested on her shoulder.

Odessa took the book from Cassie and nodded a thank you, her foot still hurt, but she wasn't going to make a big deal out of it, especially when the senior had helped her retrieve her books. She was glad that the librarians hadn't seemed to notice her little outburst and she sighed a breath of relief. At the offer, Odessa smiled gratefully, usually she wouldn't bother someone with something so trivial, but her stack of books was starting to cause her a small amount of hindrance. "I'd like that, thank you." She handed Cassie a couple of the books and thumbed the piece of paper again. "I'm looking for a psychology book..." She read off the title, eyes darting around the assortment in front of her. "I thought it'd be around here, but I can't seem to find it."

She suddenly flushed when she realized her lapse in etiquette, "Oh, I'm Odessa Nevere, and I'm in Eldritch." The words came out sort of rushed and there was a faint sign of pink painting her cheeks. She shoved some of the books around in her arms enough to get a hand free, offering a shake. The books twisted, nearly falling from her arms, but she somehow managed it without a single one slamming into her feet again. "Thank you again for helping me.. May I ask your name?"

The Fallen took them, cradling them into her arm in order to hold onto them. "That sounds interesting," Cassie hummed, turning on her toes to look around the library. "I've never taken a psychology class before." She held a finger to her lower lip for a moment, eyes scanning up the shelves before them. "I would think we're close to the right section."

Cassie pattered down the aisle, leaning onto her tip toes as she inspected the spines. She turned in time to watch Odessa stumble, and she reached out to brace the books in the Geist's arm. "Cassie. I'm in Arkham," she offered with a smile, keeping her voice in a whisper so they wouldn't get yelled at. The Fallen turned back to where she had been looking, holding Odessa's books tighter. "I wonder if it hasn't already been checked out, or someone must have really misplaced it."

"It's nice to meet you Cassie!" Despite the bounce in her voice she tried to keep it as quiet as possible so that she wouldn't disturb anyone else still in the library. "Oh well, I like to try to keep myself up-to-date on everything. I'm not the best student in the world, but psychology is pretty interesting if you ever want to take a look at it." She offered a brief smile that went rather limp at the next statement. "Ah, I suppose that could be true. I was hoping it was still here.. But I guess I can try to check it out again another time." The truth was that she didn't necessarily need the book in question, it was more of a want. Maybe she could find out if there was a bookstore nearby and she could just outright buy her own copy.

Cassie smiled the slightest. "Not everyone needs to be excellent at everything," she confirmed, taking a step back so her wings were pointed towards the stacks and not the Geist. She had been bad about sticking them in people's way lately. "Studying gets so much easier when you're into the subject anyway." The pink haired Fallen put on a clearer smile.

"Is there somewhere we can go with these?" she asked, lifting her arms the slightest to showcase Odessa's books she was still carrying. "I don't want you to lose your load," she hummed, noting the way they still teetered about in the other's arms.

She gave a soft nod, pulling the books closer to herself so she could get a better grip. "What kinds of things do you like to study?" She asked, giving a small smile. "Oh um..!" She nibbled her lip slightly, unsure if she should ask someone she just met to do that much for her, though she supposed she was already asking her for a lot. "If you don't mind... We can take them back to my dorm. It's still kind of a mess since I haven't completely finished unpacking.." Her voice trailed off for a brief moment. She didn't like having people over when her room wasn't organized, but she couldn't expect Cassie to continue to hold her books forever either. "I'm sorry to be asking you to do this.. But thank you." A small smile touched her lips as she lead the way from the library to her dorm.

Bag thumping against her leg, she could only loosely shrug. "It's fine," the Fallen assured warmly, moving to follow Odessa through the library and out into the main corridors of the Academy. It was quiet yet, the curfew that kept them confined in the walls dragging the majority of the students to their rooms. Cassie had challenged the time constraints more than once though, and as long as Odessa wasn't in a hurry, neither was she.

"I am studying history and literature," Cassie informed once they were outside of the library's quiet sanctuary. She felt they had been pressing their luck, and she in particular wasn't in the mood to get scolded again for disgracing the rules of the place. She wasn't loud, okay? "It's a fascination of mine. I like non-fiction too, so maybe it's just the appeal of stories beyond my reach by either time or reality." She chuckled softly, moving to balance Odessa's books off of her hip. "I intend to focus mostly on literature though. I enjoy a well crafted story, and it's like magic to know how to construct one."

User ImageA small smile lifted Odessa's lips. "History and Literature.. Those are definitely good things to study. I had a hard time choosing between Eldritch and Arkham myself because of my love of literature.. But my aunt wanted me to pick something with 'a better job future'." The last bit of her statement felt as though she was quoting something she had heard a million times. "Books are the best." She said, giving the books in her arms a slight squeeze. "And I have to agree. While I love non-fiction too, the way fiction can just take you to other worlds.." Her voice sounded wistful as she spoke. "What book is your favorite?"

Odessa had been lost in her thoughts of getting her books and getting settled in that she had hardly realized how late it actually was, not that she was quite used to the curfew yet though, either. Thankfully they had arrived at her dorm room without much incident and she was able to unlock and open the door, letting Cassie inside. The room was filled with books. From the looks of it, it was filled with many more books than any other possession the girl could have owned. "Well.. this is my room.. I'm sorry for the mess." For the most part it definitely could have been messier, but a few stacks of books were scattered along her bed and on the floor since she hadn't had time to put them away just yet.

Cassie giggled the slightest. Oh yes, the future. She tried to put as little thought of it as possible into her head before she worked herself up into an anxious ball of feathers. "Well, you're still at the Academy, you have some time," she promised on the most soothing voice she could manage in case the girl shared some of her same worries.

Her wings shifted as Odessa let her in. It was a lot of books, but it wasn't entirely unwelcome. "What a nice collection," she beamed, setting down Odessa's text books on the nearest surface. She was far from tidy herself, so she didn't even bat a lash as she picked up the nearest title, stepping around a pile at her foot. "Purely pleasure fiction? Probably Enchanted by the Baphomet. I believe the next title Taken by the Chimera is supposed to come out soon. I'm kind of a trash reader between the history books," she admitted with a quiet laugh, smiling yet with a slight rose to her cheeks.

User Image"Maybe." She made a face that showed a slight amount of disgust. "My aunt doesn't see it that way though.. and she's paying for me to go here." She came closer over to her desk and plopped the books down. She figured since it was study material it would be best to keep them where she was most likely to study. At the compliment on her collection, she seemed to beam a little more. "Thanks! That's definitely a good series.. I can't wait to read the new one!" She sat down on her desk and reached over to the pile that was working its way into the bookshelf. She looked for a moment before carefully pulling a small paperback out. "Have you heard of The Geist Files? It's from my favorite author, K.D. Morgan. It's a thriller, mystery type, but it has plenty of romance too." Not waiting for a response, she handed the book toward Cassie. "Only if you'd like to read it, of course."

Oh. Cassie hadn't even considered Odessa wasn't a cache kid. Of course, it made sense if she was transferring in. Drifting closer to the Geist, her expression remained bright and her ear tufts gave a little twitch. "I'm always a sucker for romance. Hook, line, and sinker," she sighed but took the offered novel, flipping it over in her hand so she could scan the text at the back. Cassie was such a fast reader she never really considered it a waste to read a book she didn't fully enjoy, but something told her to trust the girl's style.

"I would love to read it," she all but purred, dropping to sit on the very edge of Odessa's bed, just enough to fit herself and not intrude on the girl's private space. "Something for between all the crazy finals studying." Her blue eyes were bright as she looked to the junior.

We should probably move toward the end of this one? haha

User ImageOdessa smiled when Cassie took the book, "There are four more in the series currently. If you like it just let me know and I'll let you borrow the rest too." She was excited to have someone else get into her favorite series. It was very addictive and she couldn't wait until the next one came out. It was a sorted investigation series, based around a female living in modern days, but it had lots of magic and intrigue as it went through her daily life, and of course, lots of romance.

Odessa's eyes went to the wall where the clock was sitting and she nearly jumped. She hadn't realized it was that late already. "Oh crap! I'm really sorry! I hadn't meant to keep you so late!" She felt embarrassed for keeping the girl that she had met from her sleep, though she was very grateful for the help she had received. She hoped she wasn't too mad over it. "I hope I don't get you into trouble.." She frowned, her eyes on her feet.

She clutched it a little closer to her chest, delighted. "Thank you," she stated sincerely, her feathered ears wiggling the slightest on her head. As Odessa suddenly launched into panic mode, the Fallen remained fixed in her seat. She shook her head and then immediately fixed her hair before standing. "Don't worry about it, I have an after hour ace up my sleeve," she chuckled, her wings fluffing up against her back. She had quite gotten used to using her wings to skirt around the outside of school, all per Smolder's fantastic influence. All of her concerns about breaking the rules were long gone with graduation so close on the horizon.

Moving towards the door, she lifted a hand in a small wave. "I'll return this to you soon," she promised, a small smile upon her lips. She was always a fast reader. "And welcome to the Academy." With that, Cassie let herself out, hurrying down the hall for the nearest outside exit.
