It had been a long day of classes for Lazarus, him letting out a sigh as he threw on his messenger bag lazily and walked out of his last class for the day. Today had been full of just very uninteresting situations and dilemmas. All his classes were just dull, even the ones he really enjoyed like language arts and even creative writing! At this point he was really wishing he had been able to get into some sort of performance arts class or a music class, but he had yet to find one at all he could get in to at his grade. If this kept up he would probably end up taking an art class instead of what he really wanted to take. Continuing through the school, something caught Lazarus' eyes as he passed a room he had never been into before, stopping in his tracks and moving backwards until he was back at the cracked open door. Peaking inside, he tried to see what was going on inside the room.

Arden had been dutiful today, listening intently throughout all of his classes. The lull he had been feeling (some called it a slump but he wasn't fond of that word) had beaten the energy out of him the past few weeks, but now things were finally getting exciting again. His magic classes had always been easy but still educational - coming from the mountains, he was very familiar with magic, but his teachers here had different approaches than his clan that he was learning to appreciate. However, their routine practice had yet to prove to be anything other than a refresher until today. Arden was still excited, two pieces of fruit before him on the table.
Tail swishing lazily behind him, Arden dragged a sharp claw over the soft flesh of the tomato once more. It was starting to deflate (for he didn't know how to re-create tomato fruit on the inside) from the constant abuse, but with concentration and a flick of his fingers, Arden was muttering the words that caused the slice to mend together again. He simply beamed, losing himself in practicing the basics - he had been too into the lesson to wait to get back to his dorm, so with his teacher's permission he had hung behind to manipulate the leftover fruits the had used in class. Without though he conjured a small flame, burning the outside of the tomato's shiny flesh. With the same steps as before, he urged the dying cells into repair. Fruit manipulated a lot easier and better than real flesh ever would, and Arden knew this, but he couldn't help but feel so much closer to his goals in life. Unaware of the watcher outside the door, the Chimera continued to toy with the food before him.

What was that chimera doing to those fruits? Repairing them after damaging them? Other than thinking the chimera might be a bit crazy, Lazarus found much interest in this. Nope of his other classes taught stuff like this! What class was this anyway? After looking through the class door more, he came to the conclusion this must be one of the main classes for magic. Everything seemingly breathed magic about it, so it must be! His curiousity getting the best of him, Lazarus decided to step foot into the room fully, looking around the room some more at all the stuff he had never really paid attention to or never seen. It was like him discovering music all over again to some degree.

Arden didn't notice at first, continuing his toying. Suddenly, someone was in the room with him and he jumped a little, tail swinging as he turned. "Sorry," he breathed, leaning on the counter. He offered a bit of a forced smile, willing his heart to slow down. The other looked to maybe be a junior, and he couldn't tell if the look was of curiosity or perplexity."Was getting carried away. Do you need the classroom?"
He picked up the tomato in his hand, giving it a light squeeze with his finger pads so he wouldn't puncture it. It looked rough but it was whole, and that counted for something. Suddenly though he felt awkward just standing there squeezing vegetables and he put it down with an airy laugh. "Sorry," Arden repeated again, drawing up his backpack to begin putting things away. "Magic's exciting when you get a chance to practice it." He was just feeling awkward now, tail curling over his shoes.

"I don't need the classroom," Lazarus explained when the chimera seemed to think he needed the room for something, giving the other a smile. He seemed so nervous now that he had entered the room, especially how he was now treating the tomato. Was this chimera not good around other nightmares perhaps? Or maybe they were unsure of themselves when it came to their magic? Whatever it was, Lazarus wanted to know more about what this chimera was doing ", I was just walking by and I was interested by what you were doing inside. After all, I haven't seen something like this before. What type of magic is it exactly?"

He scratched his neck, the Chimera's dulled nails doing little on his skin. "Uhm," Arden couldn't help but stammer. Did vegetable revival really have a proper name? He didn't think so. He wasn't an expert yet on magic. "It's the basis for really basic healing magic," Arden offered for that was true. "You don't learn much more complex than this here at the Academy, but it's sort of handy for things you might break."
He gave the other boy some room to come closer, holding up the tomato he had been working on for observation. "It's still rather bruised under the skin, but I mended together what was available. It is sort of... dimpled now, but not every blemish has to be a negative thing," Arden explained and actually, he surprised himself a little bit with his words. What a hypocrite he was. The Chimera smiled for Lazarus' sake in order to chase away the flare of inner conflict that raised in his chest.
"I'm Arden by the way," he introduced but stopped short of offering his clawed hand. Instead the boy put on an even brighter smile. He was always awkward with everyone, but he did know how to be polite.

"My name is Lazarus, and I am sure it is still a delicious tomato," Lazarus looked at said tomato and went to go touch it. Healing magic? So Arden here had been breaking and repairing it to practice? That normally would seem boring, but for now he was interested. Perhaps he could learn a few things from Arden here? The chimera seemed to know a bit on the subject after all ", Is there anyway for me to do so as well?"

The Chimera looked surprised, blue eyes wide. He looked down to the tomato, tilting his head the slightest. "Your a Junior, right?" he settled on asking the other. "It's nice to meet you Lazarus, but I'm not sure how much I can teach you unless you've sat through a magic class before." The Chimera was being honest. It wasn't that he didn't want to try and show the other, it was just sort of a steep task to accomplish. It didn't help that he grew up around magic in his Clan - he had an advantage on a lot of the other Seniors too.
"Magic is pretty cool. I encourage you to take a class if you haven't yet." His smile was easy, and he reached over to grab a paper towel from beside the sink. He wiped over the tomato's skin, cleaning it before setting it back beside the other fruits. Arden briefly twirled an apple stem between his fingers, having been unable to reattach it prior to Lazarus' entrance. "Some stuff is just for show, but other uses are pretty helpful everyday."

"Take a class? But I have already finished all my electives for right now," Lazarus tried to explain, looking between Arden and then the tomato. Maybe when he was older he could take a class on magic? Until then, Arden could show him how he was repeatedly healing the tomato. It wasn't that hard right? Perhaps it was, but Arden looked like the type who knew magic quite well already ", Maybe you could tell tell and show me how you are healing the tomato over and over?"

The grey-skinned Nightmare tilted his head to the side. His ears twitched the slightest. "You still have another year, don't you?" He could swear the boy was a Junior but Arden supposed that wasn't important. Arden looked back to to red maybe-fruit, pondering with bright blue eyes. He sort of hated being put on the spot, but the boy did seem curious and he was polite.
"Sure, okay," Arden agreed, sucking his lower lip briefly. "Uhm." With a claw he traced over the waxy flesh, pausing over a firm spot before puncturing it with his pointer finger. He gave it the slightest squeeze, juice oozing out onto the counter. He'd clean it up later when he was done. "A lot of my magic naturally comes as a bit offensive," the Chimera explained his thought process, his first instinct always to conjure fire. He was just used to it, having been the favorite parlor trick of all the young Chimera in his clan. What winged child didn't love the ability to produce spontaneous fire? "And well, healing magic is really just supplement to real medical procedures but that's here nor there, you know that..." he sighed, losing his confidence.
There was little flair to what he was doing, tracing a long finger around the opening. He blew out a breath as he focused, the more angular side of the tomato starting to close first. The flesh puckered as it was forced together and Arden couldn't help but pinch it between his thumb and index, helping where the magic couldn't reach. It took more than a few blinks but the skin once again knelt together, the tomato looking more and more like a deflated bean bag. "I just had to... will it. Magic can't do everything, sometimes I needs a little help." He laughed nervously. "Sorry, I'm so bad at being a teacher." Arden scratched his cheek, tail curling over the top of his sneakers. "It's really just the mentality sometimes. And, they're really just charms so they do need a lot of help sometimes."

"So it is all in the mentality of how you do it?," He guessed that made sense, except he never really used magic to begin with. He used it of course, but he wasn't exactly skilled at it. The only magic he could use was very simple day to day uses, household magic to be exact ", Ummm... I'm sorry if I seem like a complete amateur at this, but do you have any tips for using magic? You really do seem very skilled at it. A natural as well might I add. I don't use it that often, and not the best either. Once I become a Senior I will probably take a magic class, but for now do you have anything else I should know?"

Arden nodded a little in confirmation. "Yeah, basically. I mean, a lot of stuff doesn't even need a chant. As long as you have a medium and can think through it appropriately..." the Chimera shifted where he stood. He had been doing this practically since he came out of the Stone. Chimera always seemed to be playing with fire from a young age. For a moment, he feared he was really downplaying how much concentration magic really took.
"It's okay," the grey-skinned male assured in an even voice, dragging the pad of his thumb over the vegetable. "I've been doing this practically since I was born. I mean, a lot of it was accidental, but I learned at least what the feeling was pretty young," he chuckled dryly, rolling his shoulders. "Uhm. I guess you should always know what you're trying to exactly do?"
He tapped his claws on the edge of the counter, thinking hard. "You don't want to be trying magic when your emotions are super out of whack either, but that's one of the first things they'll teach you. Calm down and clear your head, just so you don't get unintended results. Some just can't hone what's going on in their head enough to get results, and it can be really frustrating." He licked his lips. "I'm not an expert and have a long way to go, but I guess it's good I look like I know what I'm doing," Arden laughed.

"And you sound like you know what you are doing as well," He admitted, thinking upon everything the other said. So part of it was also how ones emotions were? Would he be even able to control them in that case? After all, he was considered a wild one around here. Then again, he still had really good control of his emotions. Maybe it wouldn't be too hard after all? With a deep breath, he continued to speak to the chimera, unaware of his wings being off still ", So... do you think I will be able to one day use magic more than I do now? I use it for everyday of course, but nothing else. There has to be someway for me to use it. I'm a baphomet, so I would use nature magic more often right?"

He smiled the slightest at the compliment. Arden didn't take them too well, but magic was something he intended to accelerate at. He did aim to be a doctor after all. "No one is completely devoid of magic," the Chimera assured, leaning onto the counter top on his elbows. His tail swished once lazily behind him, trying to fall more relaxed than awkward.
"I'm not very familiar with Baphomet magic, I guess I get pretty lucky. Chimera channel really well," the boy offered easily, turning to look to Lazarus. "But yeah, if you have to speak to nature to go find it, then that's what you do." He smiled easily. "It may look daunting at first, but once you get it feeling down, it's pretty rewarding I think."
Gently, Arden eased the fruits he had been working with into the trash can. He rubbed his forehead with the back of his hand, leaning back the slightest. "Is there something in particular you dream of getting good at?" he asked with a curiosity, grabbing a paper towel to clean under his claws with. "I'm trying to get to Leviathan for medicine myself, but totally don't need to be a major to pick up some magic tricks."

"That is nice to know," And it was. If he was to get into magic, he would have to search someone else. At least Arden was honest about that. However, it wasn't his true passion whatsoever. Nothing could replace his love for music and the arts, nothing could take their place ", My passion is music mostly, but I also get into the theater as well. I would love to be in a band of sorts when I get older. However, I haven't found anyone interested in music or theater yet. It is kind of sad really. What about you? Have you found anyone else interest in medicine?"Panda Moor Shall we wrap this up, or keep going?
