Pelagion, having left a bundle of humans all tucked in, warm, and safe in a car, was going to explore this human city, or whatever was left of it. No hair salons met the sardonic reaper's wanderings, but he did find what appeared to have been a beautiful place of some sort. What was it, though? What could possibly have had such lights and glitz?

Canon was wondering much the same thing from a little further away. Her wanderings had led her from one spot to another, though she made a point of returning to her human from time to time. She fed and watered him, but at this point, Canon was basically using him as a place to stash stuff she found. Breathing holes could only hold so much, after all.
As she scampered towards the destroyed casino, the little Skark found herself missing the pockets of her student form's clothes. Maybe she could look into having a collar with a pouch made for her natural form!
Canon caught a flash of blue as she went inside, and hopped up on a table to get to a better vantage point. Well, it was humanoid, but all the conscious humans she'd seen had white coats, and this one wore a dark coat, so...
"A student!" she exclaimed, and raised her voice. "HELLO!"
There was a crash from somewhere in the back of the casino, a few more loud bangs. Suddenly a shadow went sailing across a row of lost machines as Sammy landed on top in a crouch purple eyes burning wild.
"AND THAT'S WHY YOU'RE JUST SOME CHEAP PIECE OF s**t KNOCK OFF!" The ghoul flipped two birds at the shadow as it stood up in the remains of a wrecked table. The ghoul turned to the others in the room blinking, "Er, sorry about that, I just really hate the ones that look like me. No real substance you know? Insulting even."

“Hey there.” Pelagion said, smiling thinly at the minipet... student... student that looked like a minipet. “'sup?” He gave one of the lost dice a kick, letting it roll over the floor, “So, any idea what this place is? It's kinda...” strange. “Sparkly.” he remarked, walking over to her.
He stopped as the ghoul came out from the back of the casino, chasing after... herself? “All right then.” said Pel, taking out the fishing rod he'd 'borrowed' from his human, “Yeah, I can see why you'd say that.” he said. Whoever she was.
His attack went wide, the hook of the fishing rod flying past the ghoul-lookalike's shadowy head before he could reel it back. “Damn.” he muttered, “Its just not my sword, you know... wait.” she'd talked about it in the plural. “Wait, theres more lookalikes around? There are lookalikes? Thats just...” Pelagion made a very descriptively unhappy sound. Great. Just great.

"I don't know! That's why I came in. To investigate!" Canon replied, messing about with an ashtray on the table, still filled with ash. A curious flick of her antennae and a small cloud of it rose up. A bit got into one of her breathing holes and the little ghoul sneezed, which is a rather unsettling sight when a Skark does it.
"Fascinating! It burns!" she exclaimed, coughing. When the commotion started at the back of the casino, Canon perked up.
"Oh! *cough* Yes, there are lookalikes, and they're *cough* fun to fight, but tough!" she warned, hopping over the tables to try for a stab at the double. As it turned out, it was a lot easier to hit something when it didn't hurt your eye to look at it! Canon's stinger tore a sizable patch from the shadow, but the lookalike still had a lot of fight in it. It knocked Canon aside, sending the Skark flying to land near Sammy.
"Hello!" Canon greeted the undead ghoul cheerfully.
"They call it a 'Casino' we have them too, but they aren't so sparkly and we use seeds instead of coins." She shifted on her perch on the slot devices watching the Shadow as it got stabbed by a stinger staggering it. She stood up grabbing a handle from a busted slot device flipping it in her hand.
"They seem to be copies of our FEAR, they're almost as tough as we are, I think that giant abomination of FEAR is what made them. Copy cats meant to drag us into it by killing us maybe." She reached down grabbing Canon picking her up to place her back on her feet before Sammy flinged the metal rod at the dopple.
In response it rushed Sammy and slammed her into the slot devices causing a series of coins to fall loose as Sammy laughed, "OH come on, they might look like us but they don't hit nearly that hard."
In response it headbutt Sammy in her face. Ow.

Well if it burned, maybe don't stick your snout in the ashtray. Even Pelagion knew that was a terrible idea, but hey, you live and learn... or unlive and learn. Whatever. She lived, and then she learned. Besides, other things were important now. Like Lookalikes “Wonderful.” Pelagion muttered. No one had mentioned fighting themselves, and Pelagion didn't want to fight himself. He didn't even want to fight – he was doing it, but... Not enthusiastically. As if he did anything enthusiastically.
“Oh, a casino, huh.” Well, huh. His family was none too fond of those kinds of things – something about gambling addictions and complicated criminality. They were such law people. Blah. “Well okay then. “ Humans had weird aesthetics. He wasn't going to judge, though... that would take effort.
Like the ghoul's explanation.
He flicked the fishing rod at the thingie again, hooking it nicely and giving it a decent flesh wound. “They don't feel like FEAR.” he commented, “Dunno what they feel like, though.” Not that he'd been in many fights, but...
“Anyway, I'm not getting dragged into that thing, so... yeah.” Pelagion said, reeling the hook back in – he could get used to this thing.

Canon appreciated the help in getting back to her feet. She paid it back by leaping onto the double's back as it attacked Sammy, stabbing and scratching it with her tail and claws. The lookalike reared back, and Canon fell off. Before she could dash away, it stomped on her, causing a noise not unlike a bagpipe as Canon's air left her body in a rush.
Credit where credit was due, the other two where putting up a better fight then Sammy, even as the shadow elbowed Canon off her back and turned her focus back onto Sammy. It was like nothing had changed at all. Cocking her head she gave the shadow a kick at the legs but it had already moved avoiding Sammy's attempt to stagger it, "Aw c'mon can't you just let this be a fun fight?"
The shadow responded by headbutting Sammy causing the flames in her eyes to flicker for a moment. "F-fah.. cheap blow...." she muttered shaking her head.

Pelagion winced as the monster got stepped on... ouch! That had to hurt. Also, that was really not-nice. “Hey...” he said, pouting a little... “Hey, you, double thing!” he said, summoning his sword to flash a distracting image at her, “Look over here!”
And then he smashed her/it in the face with a fist.
The reaper smiled a little – all right, that was fun, and completely justified.... that thing had it coming! You don't do that to small Monsters. You just don't.

Air returned to Canon in a great 'whoosh!', as the double was knocked off and distracted away from her. She'd probably have a boot print on her back for a while, but she was alive and breathing, so Canon considered it a plus.
But there was still a lookalike to take down, so Canon scrabbled to her feet, and took off after it. She dodged around broken furniture, and stabbed at the lookalike's leg, but only managed a shallow wound before it kicked her away. She soared through the air, and got tangled up in a busted chandelier. It gave her a great view of the proceedings, though!
The Shadow was still snarling in Sammy's face even as it took a few more blows, every time it did it just lashed back with it's 'bone' fist much like Sammy's own. Something about seeing the shadow simply disregard the other students pissed her off even more.
Without warning Sammy lashed back, a purple burning fist of bone crossed over smashing the shadows jaw sending it stumbling aside.
Sammy didn't stop though, she marched right over to the shadow, her left hand of bone still burning with fear, not nearly enough to cause the usual damage of a charge attack, but rather just her fury and anger as she cracked the dopple in the face with her fist again.
"Stay down already."

It wasn't as though it was going to stay down just because you asked it to, but Pelagion wasn't going to judge what creeple said in the heat of battle. What he did judge was stomping on small monsters, and this he judged with impunity as he punched the thing again. "Yeah." he said, not particularly emotionally, "and stay down."

As soon as she managed to free herself from shattered chandelier, Canon dropped like a cage wrestler onto the shadowy double, driving her stinger into it. It seemed like the lookalike couldn't take anymore, and puffed into drifting scraps of shadow.
Canon hit the ground, tumbled a bit, and wobbled a little as she got to her feet. She pattered back over to her comrades, whistling a triumphant tune.
"We did it!" she exclaimed, hopping onto a table. "You two are great fighters, I'd be glad to have you at my back any day!"
“Yeah.” Pelagion said, accepting the compliment. In truth, he knew that the real fighter around here was the undead – she kicked a** – but he wasn't going to blow the little monster's enthusiasm. He wasn't that kind of jackass.
“Hey, so, you sure you're okay?” he asked said little monster in concern, looking her over carefully as the doppleganger dissipated into the ever-present fog, “It stomped you pretty hard.”
