This is set at the Dorms during Zone 4/5, following this prompt:
Quote:
[ Deeper into the fog ]: If your character really feels like navigating deeper into the fog, it is a vast expanse of nothingness. As they do so, they lose sense of time and self, and for a moment, fade out of existence.
If you choose to do this, your VICTIM character will now temporarily awaken. They can now rp with anyone else in this area in all zones (save parking lot). They can rp with other VICTIMS who have also woken up OR with the RESCUERS. You can do this for max 1 hour "IC" duration (however many rps you want). After that they go back to sleep. Your character wanders back as well.
As this can lead to confusing moments of tagging and timelines, it is possible to have RESCUER and VICTIM rps of your characters at similar times. Just make sure you start them in a timeline that makes SENSE for you. Your rescuer obviously, cannot interact with your own victim (for obvious reasons), save for the small window of space in the "parking lot" prompt.

There was time missing from Caroline's memory again, and where she picked up wasn't where she thought she'd left off. On the bright side, it had not resulted in her waking up to find herself tied to a chair in the back room of a casino to be auctioned off, but this was still not very favorable.
When she made it to the campus and found it seemingly empty, her stomach began to tie itself in knots. She'd hoped that they would all be here, that this had only happened to her. That they were all safe in the makeshift home they had all built together here.
"Hellooooo?" she called out, hands cupped around her mouth. "Are any of you here? Are you safe? Has anyone lost themselves?"
Her hands dropped to her sides as she waited, whispering a string of less audible pleas into the empty air.
There was a pause long and echoing, that then turned into one footstep -- Austin hesitating in the hall like he was trying to decide if the voice he heard was real. And, if it was, if Caroline was about to try and kill them all again. After all, that seemed like the sort of thing that might just happen around here.
It didn't help that he'd awoken in a strange car, with a dull ache near his temple, low and throbbing, like somewhere along the line he'd fallen and smacked his head [he probably had] or that somehow in his own lost time he'd gone from wearing several sweaters and a pair of gloves to, instead, being wrapped up in a fur-trimmed, atrocious yellow parka, with food to eat that hadn't been there before, with memories of a strange white coat --
After a moment, there was a second footstep, Austin slowly creeping his way down the University hall toward the source of his voice. He wet his lips, and when he spoke, his own voice was surprisingly soft, hesitant.
"Hello?"

It had been sort of terrifying waking up in a small, cramped, dark closet. Particularly when Liam had no recollection of hoe he could have possibly gotten there. The last thing he remembered...the leads had been in trouble. They'd been trying to help, Charlie had tried to drag him into the fog and then he was back again... It had all been terribly fuzzy, spotty and out of line, and trying to search his memory for the missing bits had given him the mother of all headaches.
A kick to the door from the inside had managed to force it open, and there had been a moment of squinting into the light. Then Liam was out, situating his bag on his shoulder, and off, searching once again for the rest of his factionfamily.
The fog had been just as awful as he remembered it, but miracle of miracles, he'd managed to find the University again. It was a beautiful sight, a wonderful sight, and he'd hurried down the long sidewalk across the lawn towards the dorm building. If any of them had made it, they'd have com here. He knew it. He knew it.
When he heard voices, familiar voices, he'd almost cried with relief. "Caroline!" Too relieved to worry over the twisted state she'd been the last time he'd seen her. "Austin?"

It was Liam that she reached first, after breaking into a sprint at the distinct sound of her name being called. She scooped him up into a hug - or stopped her momentum by catching her arm around him, more specifically - and continued to hold tightly onto him for several seconds before she considered letting go.
"Oh god, I'm so glad that you're--that the children--and at least one of you is--" No, she just couldn't say any of it. She sighed with relief, but still looked no less concerned. "Did you say that Austin was with you? I thought that I heard his voice, but..."

"Not if you're going to hug me." it came after another little hesitation, but when Austin spoke, it was at least dripping with his usual attitude: a healthy mix of condescension, sarcasm, and his inability to take anything seriously. He was just at the end of the hall, but now he came out into the light to frown at the pair of them. His eyes raked over Liam, first, and then Caroline, and at least her current state was an improvement on the last time he'd seen her -- but in his mind' Austin could still see the glowing, gaping hole in her chest where her heart should have been.
He stayed out of arm's reach, eyes narrowed to slits as he peered down the hall again behind him, trying to reach some kind of decision regarding whether to stay or go.
"What happened? Where is everyone? Why does this place look so..." He didn't say 'dead'. Just let it trail off.
It was actually Liam that picked up Caroline, giving her a small spin as momentum spun them around, then setting her back on her boots. Not exactly respectful, but he was just so relieved to see her in one piece, no longer dark or twisted, but whole again. "I'm glad you're okay. I was worried--I mean. Last time I saw you..." He stopped, pulling on a small, masking smile. "It doesn't matter, cause you're fine."
He shook his head though, at her question about Austin. "No, I'm by myself. I thought I heard him he-" He blinked as the student in question wandered out to join them. He also looked in one piece, relatively unharmed save for a new bruise on one side of his forehead. "Are you alight?"

Cecil was lost. Very lost and very confused. He could remember the events leading up to his black out. The earth shifting and moving beneath his feet like it was alive. He had fallen, hit his head and had been out only to wake up briefly to a nightmare. Or maybe he hadn't woken up at all. It was such a short span of time the odd creature he had seen could have easily been a figment of his imagination. There was certainly enough going on a fuel a healthy nightmare or two and the large knot on his head that accompanied the headache told him that seeing things might not have been out of the question. The only thing he really couldn't explain was the copious amounts of road rash and wear and tear on his clothes. He felt like he had been dragged to hell and back, he just didn't know how true that thought was.
When he had come to his senses enough to move Cecil had immediately headed for the university hoping to find the others. Their makeshift home had become so quiet now and he roamed the empty halls in silence searching and wondering if anyone had made it back. He couldn't be the only one could he?
There was a small anxiety that had started to build in the pit of his stomach as he lengthened his strides, rushing through the silent halls that only echoed his footsteps. He was near the point of having a panic attack when he finally heard the voices of those he was familiar with.
Slowing to a walk Cecil peeked around a corner to find at least a handful of his comrades gathered around. It was a small relief to see that he wasn't the only one here but there was still worry. Where were the others?
Kammy was struggling to remember what had happened. Her memory was fragmented, recalling bits and pieces. Her last solid thought was her eyes and ear bleeding, being catapulted through the air as the ground split beneath her feet. Then things got fuzzy; she remembered being in a car, a really crappy one, then someone was carrying her. She had the impression of blonde hair, a blue scarf and a white coat, gloved hands supporting her as if she were some princess.
Then she remembered seeing a strange blue glowing thing. The sight freaked her out so much she fought back, scoring a critical hit on the guy then tried to run away. The things were fuzzy again, her head had been hurting so much...
Now she found herself leaning against a old slot machine, back in the old casino. How had she gotten all the way here?
She placed a hand on the ground, then felt something wet and sticky, and she noticed the dark stains littering the ground.
She was quick to get up and bail.
The fog was gone, or at least thin enough for her to get back to the University. The building was a sight for sore eyes, and she walked through the doors, and went on the search for others. Had anyone else made it back?
It took some time, but after turning a corner, Kammy was glad to see a few familiar faces greet her.
"Woo! Party request. Hey Barbarian! Glad to see you're...Woah, did you fight off a hole mob of undying?"

A delighted laugh had come in response to being picked up and twirled around, then fizzled away into a more even calm when Caroline heard Austin's voice again. Her smile was one of relief again, counting the two of them to make three, while still trying not to think about why the other numbers were not here yet.
"As long as you're aware that I want to," she conceded to him. Ha, couldn't escape that so easily.
Her gaze trailed away from them, searching in every direction for any other signs of life, joining the rejection of thinking the word 'dead' or (anything like it).
"I don't know where everyone else is. I haven't seen Corey or Charlie. I don't know what happened. I can't remember. I can't remember--" A pause, in which she changed directions and winced at things that were all her own fault. "I do remember when I lost myself. And I'm sorry for that. For everything that was said. The last thing I want is for any of you to end up hurt, and it was--well, it was ******** up. What I did."
"It's been...odd," Austin acquiesced, giving no attention to Caroline's apology. He didn't take it, and he didn't forgive, but he would most likely forget -- simply because he didn't have the energy to keep it up for very long. Until Harvard showed up. Then maybe things would go out the window.
He came a bit closer, inch by inch, hands still in his pockets and the frown lingering on his face. He had to dig for words, carefully considering, his head cocked to the side. "I woke up. But it was in a forest, somewhere, surrounded by vines, and there was a skinny guy in a white coat yammering at me in gibberish and then dancing around like a buffoon."
"White coat?" That jogged something, a memory. Liam straightened, feet shuffling slightly as he reached a hand up to rub at the back of his neck, fingers dipping down into the bandages on his back. There weer a lot of them, carefully placed, mostly clean. Along his back and down his legs.
"Was there gold?" His hand dropped, gaze skittering to Caroline briefly before jumping back to Austin. "Like, trim? On the coat?"

Cecil had been standing quietly aside out of the way until Kammy arrived and brought attention to him. With a sheepish smile he stepped closer, raising a hand in greeting. Little by little people were gathering, their faction was coming together. Somehow it always did.
"I.." He looked down at himself and his state of dress. "I feel like it." He smiled. "But I'm not sure. I probably just got banged up in the earthquake." Though that far from explained where he had woken up. "Are you doing alright?" He looked Kammy over to make sure she wasn't hurt but she had gotten here on her own so that had to count for something.
He listened to Austin briefly speak about his experience and Cecil could also remember being vines so thick they had blocked out the view of everything else. It had to have been a dream, or so he thought, because the strange monster was there with its wings, teeth, and strange eyes.

"...yeah, maybe, I don't know. It looked fancy, anyway." Austin turned the frown on Cecil, but here, at least, it was a bit less antagonistic and more simply frustrated: wishing he could remember more, but mostly his mind just fed him the wop-wop-wop of Ever's unintelligible language. He shrugged as he met Liam's eyes again.
"Mostly just annoying. He was trying to mime something at me like I was a kid, but nothing he did made any sense."
The last thing Dylan remember was the earthquake. He wasn't really sure what had happened afterwards, or how he had ended up in the car he had woken up in, but the one thing he did know was that he wanted to be back in the university. He needed reassurance that he wasn't the only one, that people were okay.
Hopefully they'd be there.
The area was a bit more uninhabited than he would have liked, but he eventually found a group of the university members. Not the whole group, but at least he knew that some of them were safe. Hopefully the rest were as well, and Dylan leaned up against the wall.
It was good to be around the others.
