[4 Yards]

She supposed it could have been worse, judging from the man's baggy clothes and sallow complexion, he probably had lost quite a bit of weight due to whatever disaster had happened. The portal was just a few yards away, and the ghoul heaved at his jacket with all her might, dragging him along the ground all while feeling quite apologetic.

If not for a certain secretary's remark, she might have considered using a bit of her Fear slide him over the ground easier. But it was too late now, and all she could think of was how not to give the human any frostbite. It would also help, considering that Peter wasn't really Canadian.

That was easy enough, she thought to herself, reaching the portal after some time and throwing the man through it. Perhaps she would make it back in time after all.

And perhaps she had no high hopes to begin with, as she stepped through the portal to find herself no where near Halloween Town, or where they had started to begin with. All there was was a long highway stretching ahead, and a very tall building looming next to her.

Other than the vines that were clearly not meant to be there, Edel thought to herself that human buildings looked quite strange indeed, and that there must have been a lot of stair climbing.

Well, time to go back through the portal. Edel grabbed onto his jacket and turned around with every intention of leaving until, well, she could not.

The monstrosity towered over her, sporting twisting vines that led her to believe it was somewhat related to what happened to the tall building as well. She took a step back, and that was when the whispers got to her.

We will consume you and your Fear will be ours.

Jack. The ghoul immediately assumed a defensive position, keeping the human behind her as she analyzed the situation.

She remembered seeing something like this once... but at the same time it was quite different from the Insanity beast at the horseman isles. A horseman? It took an equine form, but those tendrils were … very much remnants of Halloween denizens.

Grabbing the man by the collar, she began to flee, covering her tracks with spikes of ice. They didn't stand a chance against that thing alone, and Jack, she should have known this was more trouble than she had signed up for.

The fog began to thicken again and the ghoul groaned. It was hard enough carrying someone else along even at full strength. Still, she kept moving, the road behind her splitting and crumbling as the vines tore through it and the rest of the city.

She couldn't summon a mount here to help her, and now they were literally reaching the end of the road.

Looking around, there were cars scattered all over the road. Perhaps she could use one, they looked similar enough to the ones that had back home.

A loud roar erupted from a close distance behind, giving her no time to choose. She had seen Roch ride something similar before, she recalled as she flung the human onto the back seat before mounting the motorbike herself.

Please be as agreeable as deathchargers. she prayed as she fumbled for the key to turn the ignition on.

The motorbike sputtered and coughed, refusing to start up for the longest time. It was probably because she was not helping with heating up the engine to get it started.

Vines erupted through the tarmac, scattered a shower of debris over them.

Please work, screechart, she petted the machine gently. She had seen some people do that to their automobiles, calling them pet names and caressing them that is.

And it seemed to work like a charm. The motorbike finally roared, carrying them forwards.

She would admit that the ride was much more stable than a deathcharger's, or, Steve the bladed wyvern for that matter. Ah, that one was a nightmare trying to tame, she recalled, turning the handle to move up a gear for acceleration.

They had managed to put a better distance between the rampaging vines for now, but the spray of debris was still a problem.

Swerving sharply to avoid the scatter of tarmac, Edel remembered to grab onto her passenger at the last minute, hoisting him back up into position.

She could see the portal just ahead of them, prompting her to step on the pedal even harder. The constant debris raining down on them was just a painful distraction, as she willed the motorbike to carry them forward.

Eventually the shower of gravel stopped, and they were now a clear distance ahead.

… She would not get into trouble for riding through the portal like that would she?

They were just metres away from safety when she felt something stir from behind her.

Stay still there now,” she spoke nonchalantly, keeping her focus on the driving.

That was, until she had her hair pulled, causing her to lurch backwards and swerve just before the portal entrance.

STOP, what are you doing?!” she yelled, hitting the brakes and sending them tumbling onto the road.

The man had fallen unconscious once again, which was all damn well for her. Grabbing onto his jacket, the disgruntled ghoul stormed towards the portal dragging her luggage along with much less care... only to find that the exit was now long gone.
