Food time, food time. Adelaide made her shuffle with the rest of them, dying to get a morsel, when she realized it was actually her turn to serve first before getting her own meal. "Damn it." Way to make an old lady suffer low blood pressure and hanger. Meal time was always a little rough these days, with everything having to be apportioned appropriately and everyone needing to arrive by a certain time to get it. The prison had a definite waste not want not policy, and nothing made a person more punctual than their stomach.
Sighing, she forced her hair into the hair net, stuck on the gloves, and began the long process of serving food to other people instead of receiving it for herself. At least it was a good time to chatter with friendly and familiar faces as well as catch up with them; Adelaide was something of a socialite, but it didn't mean she necessarily had the time to run her mouth with some of the other inmates. She supposed it was one of the pros of doing this duty before eating.
A scuffle began to break out midway through her shift. Peering over a tall burly man's shoulders, she could see two delinquents scrabbling over some food. "Hey!" she barked, one at the counter and then again as she moved past it to force them apart. "Get ahold of yourselves!"
"He started it!"
"He wasn't even going to eat it, he's a stupid--"
"HEY! Can it, tweedle dumbasses, or neither of you eat anything."

God, it had been a long day. Only one fight had broken out, but Adelaide had been tuckered out from previous tasks. By the time she got to her meal, the mess hall was...well, a mess. She managed to partially clean it up, but her bones could only take so much before she had t call it quits.
