RULES OF THIS GAME:
[ Step 1]: - You must find a minimum of TWO other players to enter the poker table with you. If you cannot find someone else put a [ OPEN ] at the top of your post. This means you are open for inviting other players. You can have up to 5 people in a poker game thread, if you wish. All players may now come in, and roll in whatever order they wish, you really don't have to wait for players to get your rolls in!
Label your thread [ POKER RP] (PLAYERS HERE). You can play cross faction, obviously! Remember MINIMUM 3 players MAX 5 players!
The player who made the thread is responsible for closing it when finished.
[ Step 2]: All players must now roll 5d12 and make their FIRST POST in that thread. This equals the CARDS they have on their hands where 1= Ace, 11 = Jack, 12 = Queen. There are no kings. Edit your OOC accordingly with your hand. Make a post regarding your hand/entering the thread/ etc.
[ Step 3]: Look at your hand combination. You may now choose to DISCARD one card from your hand you do not like. Select which number you want to discard (from your rolls), and then in a second post, roll 1d12 again. This is your new card. Edit your OOC HAND accordingly, and write a small post of your character. This phase is optional.
[ Step 4]: Look at your hand combination. You may now choose to DISCARD ANOTHER card from your hand you do not like. Select which number you want to discard (from your rolls), and then in your third post, roll 1d12 again. This is your new card. Edit your OOC accordingly, and write a small post of your character. This phase is optional, and your LAST chance to swap cards.
[ Step 4b]: If you somehow have "cash" in your minis inventory, now is the chance to use it! Make a post, and RP that you are using your cash to BRIBE the dealer. Immediately send the cash item to Junkyard. This item WILL be removed from your inventory. When you have done so (don't worry about waiting for confirmation, just do NOT use this item anywhere else or you will be removed from the event), replace any card in your hand with a card of your choice. For example, if your current hand is 1, 2 , 2, 4, 5, with your bribe, you may now change it to 1, 2 3, 4, 5. Proceed to the next step when done. This step is only for CASH people only (if you own this item on the site).
[ Step 5]: You are done swapping cards! This is now your FINAL HAND. We're going to simplify the rules here for Poker so it isn't a big nightmare to complete. Look at the list below:
Select a combination that is APPROPRIATE to your hand. For example, if you have 2, 2, 5, 6, 7, your highest is a pair. If you got 2 3 4 5 6, your highest is a straight. etc etc. Use the form below to submit your final hand and rp out your post.

[ Step 6]: When ALL PLAYERS have submitted their hand, simply look at this chart again to see who has the highest combo. If there are two "tied" values, simply look at who has the higher card numbers. That person is the WINNER. If you are the WINNER of the thread, you get 25 casino points. Everyone else has to subtract 5 as penalty. Go ahead and edit your ooc for casino points accordingly.
If players are caught not subtracting points, they will be disqualified from any future poker games! If players do NOT respond in a timely manner despite posting one hand, they will be considered no longer part of the game (-5 penalty for "losing"). The wait period for a timely tag should be 12 hours before moving onwards. You may play multiple poker games at once.
Harper waved to Nate beckoning him towards the poker table, she also waved to Gillian however she wondered if he would actually come over to sit to play. He was strange, and no doubt didn’t trust her in the least bit but he still had a collar on. No matter how stupid he thought all of it was he had no choice.
Nate had been desperately attempting to avoid the Poker tables ever since his game with Monica and Maria. Though he was quite happy the both of them had won, and were therefore able to purchase themselves, he still did not like the sensation of losing. And as the last few hours of the day began to march on he found himself growing more nervous. He had hoped to at least have enough coin to purchase someone should they find themselves down on their luck in the last hour, but that didn’t seem like it was a realistic goal.
So when the unusual university girl Harper waved him over he hesitated only a brief moment before acquiescing. Taking a seat beside her he winked. “Just can’t get enough of me can you?” Without really looking he took the cards the dealer sent his way. God he was sick of feeling cards in his hands.

Pocketing the wimpy payout of coins he'd earned from the lousy slots, Gillian was feeling even more crestfallen than when he'd been released back into the cesspool of hostages. Luck was for the lazy... and he was not a lazy man. If only he could do something that required actual thought, intelligence, use of the mind!
Stewing in his own frustration, while trying to layout a new game plan, he only slightly noticed the frantic movement from his peripherals, slowly sliding his pale eyes to the person creating it. Cringing internally at the sight of who it was, he felt his body grow a little heavier, his limbs unwilling to respond to his commands.
But once he registered where she was at... he reassessed the situation and opportunity before him. Poker... now that at least required a drop of thought. With a deep inhale, he straightened back up, and headed on over. There was another gentleman there who he noticed, but didn't do more than the usual observer and analyze with what could be noticed on the exterior.
Seeing as he'd been invited to this game, he followed suit in drawing cards, a hand lifting to push his glasses back up, and smooth some of his silky long hair out from behind the spectacles. Well... not a bad hand to start with. But surely there could be better.

“Oh Nate I could never get enough of you.” She grinned at him as he joined her at the table. He was at least always willing to play a game and she hoped he was having better luck.
Harper was relieved to see Gillian at least join them at the table and gave him a grin when he sat down. Returning a card to the dealer she looked at Nate again.
“Nate, this is Gillian, student from the university, also possibly a germ-a-phob. Gillian this is Nate, former cop in training from the prison district.”

There was absolutely no way to salvage his hand, and honestly he didn’t even care at this point. His decision was made that much easier when a rather interesting looking fellow came to Harper’s beckoning. There was a collar still cinched around his neck, a death sentence still hanging over his head. Dropping his hand on the table he grinned at Harper’s comment before turning to the newcomer. “Hey there, my name’s Nate.” He hadn’t slept much and so wasn’t very eloquent with his words this time around, but it was still worth the effort.
At that moment an attendant approached him and handed him 100 coins for winning the Roulette game. “Guess it is extra good I didn’t get shot.” He said with a laugh. “Now if you will excuse me a moment I am going to go get some use out of these. I will be right back.” Dismissing himself from the table he walked toward the purchasing booth, set the coins down and returned. His mission was a success and he was able to help out a friend.

Staring intently at his cards, his mind was running like wild, pairing up the various outcomes, possibilities, and actions he could or should take! as usual when caught up in his thoughts, he blocked out what was around him, causing a delayed reaction to once again occur.
Looking up from his hand, he stared first at Harper to correct her, "Of all the things that I am, a germaphobe is one of the few I am not." he informed, before pulling a card from his hand to turn in for another.
Sideglancing the other stranger, he gave but a subtle nod in greeting in response. After all, the girl had introduced them... he supposed he could muster up some kind of faint acknowledgement. But it wasn't like they'd see one another again. Everyone and everything was brief, and uninviting. Cliquish, akin to high school. How revolting...

Harper pouted as Nate had to get up and leave so suddenly. "Have fun Nate! I'm glad your free!" Turning her attention back to her cards, she looked at them and folded. "I'm out too, no luck this time looks like your winning this Gillian."
She looked at him, and shrugged. "Well you refused to shake my hand earlier and you can't hate me when you really don't know me. Or maybe you do even though I have done nothing to earn it. Yet." Harper's logic maybe a little flawed but she didn't see any reason to just give up on him completely. Grumpy as he was he was still a part of their team. "I am glad you got some more coins, I hope to see you without your collar. Bye Gillian."

Once again, his brow raised. Hate? "Who said anything about hate?" he replied with a blank expression. That certainly was coming way out of left-field. But he was used to the oddities of society misinterpreting him. He didn't understand their own odd norms anyway, and since he didn't always abide by them, that rubbed many the wrong way.
Seeing her fold, he was surprised. The game had just begun... and he'd won? Watching as she left, he didn't even get to express his appreciation.
