Usually calm and composed, Dani ran about frantic.
"Opal? Opalllllllllllll!!"
She probably shouldn't be running around shouting out her acquaintances name, but she just couldn't stand it. The image was forever seered at the back of her mind, the image of that poor woman paying for Dani's quest for knowledge. A woman she could have saved was lost due to her own selfishness and negligence. It was something she didn't wish on anyone, and especially not on a friend. It was a simple meeting, but she felt they had bonded over that time they spent blowing dust haphazardly. The memory of the cleaning itself was... something she wasn't too proud of, but she liked the woman. It wouldn't be the same without her.
Opal!!!!"

Winnifred Opal hadn't done much since they'd let her back onto the casino floor. For someone usually described as "sunny" she was feeling very dark. She'd fond herself a chair along a wall and she hadn't moved since.
It had been horrible, watching him die. That boy had been so scared, so very scared. And the woman had been, too. Had they killed her, too? The images, the events, they just kept playing over and over in Opal's mind. What had she done to deserve this? What had any of them done to deserve this?
Why was this place here? What sort of terrible people must have been left in the city to come up with something like this? So what if they'd said they'd done it before. That had to be a lie. This place had never been here before.
Opal shuddered and tried not to cry. She tried not to think, but that was so very difficult.
It took a few moments for the fact that someone was saying her name, or part of it, out loud. Yelling it almost. Winnifred Opal got to her feet. Since she was only 5 foot 2 it really didn't help her see anything. So, she climbed onto the chair she'd been sitting on.
She scanned the crowd, wondering who had been calling her.

Ok, no, no, calm down. Running around screaming a name was extremely unprofessional and wasn't going to get her anywhere. Not that... professionalism was really on her mind at the moment. But she definitely needed to calm down and think. All university members had the same jersey, right? So all she had to do was find a similar jersey and...
Dani regretted not remembering what number Opal's jersey was. Would it have helped? Regardless, she should have been more attentive! And-
She turned to seeing someone standing rather tall above the others, and she gasped when she saw who it was.
... Opal? But when did she get so ta-
She clasped her hand over her mouth when she saw the collar. Oh no. No. She still had it all.
Tears welled up in her eyes. No no no nononono.
"Opal!!"

It took her a moment to pinpoint the source of the voice. Was it-- There! Oh! It was Dani. Opal had to smile at that. Silly girl had remembered her.
Opal raised one arm and waved. "Hi, Dani!"
She then decided she might be drawing too much attention to herself, and she climbed down off of the chair and started to make her way towards the girl.
"How are you? Are you hurt? Are you okay? Who bought you? Why are you still here? Run away!" There were many things Winnifred Opal thought Dani should hear.

She rushed over, hands reaching out for the Opal as soon as she had stepped down from the chair.
"I'm... I'm fine. I ended up buying myself, and... no, I can't! Well, it's not like there's anywhere to run to, and I can't just leave you!"
Dani reached up to touch the collar around her neck. 115... that wasn't too bad.
How much did she have now?
She glanced down at the coins she had. She had managed to find 20 earlier, and putting that with the remainder from buying herself out.. it was only 29. It wasn't enough. But... but they would figure something out. She wasn't leaving here without Opal.
"Don't worry, we'll get you out of here too. We won't leave you behind, Opal."
She was trembling, and it was probably harder to convince herself than it was to convince Opal, but she couldn't stand the thought of something terrible happening to her. They HAD to do something.

Winnifred let out a great bit sigh of relief. "You bought yourself? That is wonderful. I am so happy to hear that, Dani." She gave the girl a friendly pat on the shoulder. A young life, far too early for it to be snuffed out in this hell. "But you don't need to worry about me. I will be fine. I just need to take my coins over there and play a few games. I just...haven't felt like starting yet." She shuddered.
She didn't want to admit she was afraid, but she was, honestly. But she'd never show that in front of a younger person. What kind of mentor would she be then?
"I will be fine, I promise." She squeezed Dani's hand. "But you need to understand that if it comes down to it, you had better leave me behind. My life is not worth yours."

She frowned.
"This isn't a situation where we can afford to be lax, Opal. You can't give up. Promise me this."
It was strange for her telling this to someone older, but she hated the mindset that some older people have. Give up their futures for younger generations? Even if somewhat younger, Danielle didn't consider herself that young at all. There were many that were much younger with bright futures, and she just... couldn't forsake them too. However, she couldn't afford to divide her attention at this moment. One step at a time.
"I... no. Opal, you have to promise me you'll try. I don't know what will happen in the future, but please... don't sacrifice yourself for something trivial like this. Please."

"I won't give up, I will try." She smiled. It was funny how forcing yourself to smile could actually increase one's feeling of ease. Or at least lift the melancholy a little.
"I won't give up at all. I'll get started right now." She turned towards the slot machines. "I'll start there. If I can win enough, I will be fine, right?"
She took two steps then stopped. "You are right, you know. This isn't somewhere where we can be lazy. I just..." Winnifred Opal shook herself, willing the images of the boy to the side. She had to worry about herself now. She couldn't just sit in the corner and sulk.
"I will try. But you still have to take care of yourself first, Dani." She said it like it was an order, and then she marched off towards the slots.
