After certain events happening (right under their noses!) it was decided there were not enough guards to keep their eyes on everything. The goal of this quest is to start training for guard duty earlier than they have prior to now. All freshman will be assigned to a higher ranking member to show them the ropes.

Quest Notes:
-This is a RP format Quest! No dice, just RP.
- Choose one (or more than one if you'd like!) Scenario below and RP it out.
- The higher ranking officers mentioned are random NPC's, just pretend it is some random member of the group mentoring your character(s).
- You can do this Solo or in a group! Just pretend each of you is assigned a NPC mentor.
- Make sure to make a note somewhere in your post(s) about wearing your Jersey! You are leaving the dorms so the Jersey is required.

Scenarios:

1: You and your mentor spot one of the infected getting a little too close to the dorms. Quietly look around for something (you're choice) to throw as far away from the university as possible - The noise will hopefully attract the infected away! Does it work?

2: Investigate a strange noise you hear. It turns out to be nothing (perhaps just a mouse or maybe a fellow team member playing a prank?) RP out what you find!

3: You discover part of the University where the lights have gone out mysteriously. Making a mental note to tell the leaders, you decide to check it out as well. What do you find? (most likely a false alarm! Just a fizz'd wire~ )

4: On the rooftops of the dorms you peek over the edges to the open grounds below- What do you see? Infected? Burning Objects? Other people? Nothing? Remember to stay quiet if its an infected or other people! No need to give away our position.

5: WILDCARD: You decide what happens! But remember, no battles!

Requirements:
- Being as this is RP format, 800 words is required to consider this quest complete!
- If a single person is doing this, write either a one post solo or a multi post solo-thread if desired!
- If in a group, 800 words is still required per person total.

Rewards:
- Upon completing this quest each person will receive +4 Credits! (If in a group EVERYONE needs to meet the 800 word requirement before you can claim credits!)
- If you complete more than one of the Scenarios, add +1 Credit (Max of 5 credits total for this quest.)

Dani tugged self-consciously on her jersey, the large "24" emblazoned boldly across it. While she wasn't usually one for wearing such things, she could see why it was important in such a case. They couldn't afford to wander around without identification in such times, and this... was no exception.
Still, she couldn't help but feel like it was a shiny beacon that could possibly attract unwanted attention, or, perhaps she was just being a little paranoid.
At least she wasn't alone, and she cast an uneasy smile at her more experienced companion. Just guard duty, right? Nothing super fancy.

The first round didn't seem to show anything, but that was what several rounds were for. On the third round through, Dani noticed movement... movement that didn't involve a black and blue jersey. She froze at first, companion having seen the infected as well, and she looked around frantically. They couldn't let it get closer!

Not knowing what else to do, Dani reached out for the first thing she saw, which was a brick. Why there was a brick lying on the floor she didn't know, but she chucked it a way off from the dorms. It seemed it had caught the infected's attention, and she sighed with relief as it lumbered after the sound. Crisis averted... for now.

The infected issue aside, Dani assumed her role, looking around to see if anything else was out of the ordinary. Nothing else lumbering around, but-
She flinched at the sound, turning. Was that... a scratching sound? Squeaking sound?
... could there be another infected close by?

At her mentor's signal, she nodded, and moved towards it. Where... where was it coming from?
It wasn't the dorms, so she moved away from that, still keeping an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. If she didn't know any better, it sounded like it was coming from-

There was a scurrying sound which made Dani pause. It sounded much too small for an infected or undying, so maybe...
Peering into the bathrooms showed that it was empty. Huh. There was the soft "drip drip" from the tap, but other than that, nothing else. Hmm.
The squeaking sound resurfaced, and Dani looked down to see a little mouse at her foot. Oh! Was this what was causing the noise? The little creature stared back at her, nose twitching before it scurried off into the distance. Well, all that excitement for a mouse, haha. Looked like everything was fine here.

Having solved the mystery of the strange sound, Dani moved on to see if there was anything else out of the ordinary. The dorms seemed to be good, the washrooms were ok, so next on the list was...
Dani remembered the library from a previous task, and decided that was the next best place to inspect. It never hurt to brush up on her knowledge of things, and perhaps she would be able to find more supplies to bring back, which would definitely help with rations, even if she still felt uneasy riffling through people's abandoned belongings.

At least, that was her plan. It seemed things would be different, as the light from the library had suddenly gone out. Unfortunately, she had decided to inspect the library without letting her superiors know, so she would have to let them know about this afterwards.

It was a bit of a chore to maneuver through the books through the dark, though it wasn't like the light provided in the beginning was all that much better. Maybe having the lights out was a blessing in disguise.
After groping about blinding in the dark, Dani seemed to have found the fuse box. Electricity was not quite her forte, but it seemed all it was was a blown fuse. The back-up generators should be on shortly, so everything would be fine. At least it wasn't an attack.

Dorms were secure, washrooms were fine, the light for the library should be on momentarily, so... what else was there to check?
It seemed she had combed through most of the area inside, so maybe surveying the area outside would be helpful.

Making her way to the roof of the dorms, Dani peered into the distance. There were some figures moving about slowly, which she assumed were the infected. Should she... warn the others? They were probably far off enough that it was fine, and looking down from the edge of the roof, it didn't seem any of the other students or members were outside. That... that was fine. As long as no one was in immediate danger, Dani was at ease.

Though her errand was over, she spent a little longer sitting at the edge of the roof, letting the faint breeze blow through her hair. It was little moments like these that helped her calm down and remember that even if things were going to hell, they... they would be ok. Things would work out, and they would be able to escape this hellish nightmare one day... hopefully.

5 Credits earned
