Alex rubbed the spot where the collar HAD been. With it removed, he played the games in terms to capture others out of the predicaments. The apartments were the most important, especially that now he knew Sou and Brie were on their way to being safe. October on the other hand.
his eyes wandered over the floor and landed on Juliette who seemed to be handling this all very well. At least maybe? He should probably check on her.
"Hey Juliette! The love of my life and apple in my eye!" He smiled at her, gaze wandering over the collar before moving up to her eyes. "Are you breaking the slot machines and games with your luck?"

There had been a random deposit into her coin collection, bringing it up significantly without her even trying. The little cup she had found jingled a lot more now. Juliette found herself grateful on that account, it had been rather difficult joining in on poker games and blackjack had not been in her favor at all.
She was doing a terrible job helping out October with aiding in the efforts of freeing all of those of Clearview. She couldn't even save herself apparently. (She couldn't even save those.. two.. no, don't think about it). The older woman cleared her head, calmed her nerves and placed a smile on her face when she heard a familiar voice behind her.
As he had, her eyes couldn't help but fall into his neck and the absent collar, she reached out and brushed her fingers where it once had been, "oh Alex, I am so happy for you." Her eyes met his, there was a little twinkle (or moisture, one of the two). It was so wonderful to see one of them without that horrid thing. The boy would find himself pulled into a hug.
"I'm getting there," she tried to laugh, "I wish I could just sit at the slots all day but they won't let this old woman have her ways."

Alex hated knowing that there was someone he liked in trouble. It seemed his group of close friends were still in trouble and he wasn't able to do much more but hope that he could get them out!
He took her arm though, patting her hand and walking her around some of the tables.
"Yeah? I like the slots too." He laughed, trying to be airy and cheery for the older woman. She would be saved too, there was no way in hell he was letting those creeps get her. She wasn't, contrary to the whole casino ideal, someone to be offered like a slab of meat.
Plus who would look after her cats. "Black jack is the hardest." Alex nodded, "I kept watching others play it."

There was just a little something in his eyes, that little bit of worry she could see over her. When they pulled away and he took her arm, she placed her hand on top and patted it. "Oh, don't worry about an old soul like me, Alex," sad she never got a pet name for him like so many others, "I have lived my life." She just wanted to make sure everyone got out.
"But don't take it that I'm just giving up. I have some fight in me left and we'll see how far I will go." Her smile finally seemed more genuine and she graciously allowed him to lead her around the tables. Even though she was much more able to walk on her own than the last time he had held her hand. Last time she had to worry about the blood lose getting to her, all she had to worry about now was a pesky collar.
"Oh, Black jack is terrible. I even told Mr Pickle Wickles I objected to it and what did I do? I played a hand." She looked him square in the eye, "and lost. If you continue to play, stay away ~" She even wiggled her fingers, making it sound spooky.

"Nonsense!" Alex rejected her ideals that she was too old. She was spry, she was still human and most of all, She was one of his. He cared for Juliette like she was his own mother. (Grandmother?) She was, a small comfort in the apartments among all the others.
"Oh I know you aren't giving up." He looked down to her cup of coins, "But if you are going to work on coins, you make sure to get enough for yourself before anyone else Juliette. We are all doing our best to get the hell out." His eyes twinkled and then looked down at the ground.
"Black jack will be not where I play, I'm gonna save someone else." He nodded, "I'll get someone. You...or someone else. Someone in the apartments."

With their ages, Juliette would have probably gone with grandmother. A young grandmother who appreciated seeing their grandchildren every once and a while; not that she had the experience, she never married or had children of her own. All her cats were spayed and neutered to keep the feline population down (just as Bob Barker always asked of them, even those in Canada). Maybe this was what it was like, having a good young person watching out for someone like her. "So cute," she patted his hand again, "thank you."
It was a nice little happy moment in a dismal situation, having a collar strapped to her neck with a value in the middle of a loud casino. Totally not like Vegas at all. "Oh, I promise you I will, just a little more to go I think." If she remembered right, her collar said something in the hundreds and she knew she had at least half of that when she started.
"Maybe we should try poker," she suggested, "its a cleaner game than blackjack. I heard the Russian Roulette is a little more real than imagined." Real guns and all from what she heard over the radio.
Speaking of, "Maybe consider poor Moose, he seems to be having his troubles elsewhere. Nice fellow, doesn't have his head in the game." From the mouth of someone who often didn't either, but at least she knew what was going on. She did appreciate Moose's hope in finding his dog; but if he could find it, maybe her cats were actually living as she envisioned.pixie nyxie in Juliette's dreams, the Commodore is reigning over her cats. They are thriving in a collective, making peace with other animals and evading the undead. They are a mighty gang of cats! Perhaps Duchess Dirtypaws was sent as an envoy!

Alex would've like to know he had a psuedo grandma, in place of his former one before day zero. "Thank you Ma'am, you should really stop with the flattery! My head will grow into a large size and then they'll have to roll me out of here and try to fit me back into the apartments." He gently led her along still.
"If you need any help, I will be there for you! I would hate that my favorite little lady be stuck in this place." He hated saying it, thinking it, wondering it.
His gaze fell to the poker tables. "Don't do Russian Roulette." He looked over at her and then showed her the tie around his leg. "I got shot here." He frowned, "They wrapped it up and sent me on my way, and oddly it doesn't feel too bad. Don't tell Brie though." He covered it up again, "I don't want her worrying."
He blinked, "Moose then? I'll get him. Here, why don't I set you up at this table and go make that purchase then."

Oh, such a cutie that one. Trying to wave off her words and adding in flattery of his own. Juliette couldn't help but give him a nice little laugh.
Which couldn't help but twist into a little frown as he showed his leg. So that poor man's words were right after all. Not fake bullets in that game, but given how so much of this casino worked she couldn't be too surprised. "You poor dear, we'll have to get you patched up when we get back to Clearview." There were a few nurses in the complex, weren't there. "Until then, it'll be out little secret, don't you worry." So Brie wouldn't either. (Were the two together? How darling would that be?)
"Yes, please go buy him." She had to think about what she just said. That was indeed very odd. But anyways. "I'll be around if you need me, hopefully not losing more coins to black jack."pixie nyxie seems like a good end, yeah!
