Brief Overview: Like Pandy, he was raised by his parents in Shellmount until their divorce when Pandy was a Freshling. Masaru had been a Junior in the Academy at the time, so he understood what was happening. Before his mother moved to Woodholm, Masaru gave Pandy a red bandana and showed her the matching one he had. He told her that, no matter what, they were still a family and they would be together again one day.
While in the Academy, Masaru met a young demon called Takeshi and they got off on the wrong foot and have been rivals ever since. Takeshi was rude to Masaru and seemed to think he was smarter than the Imp, and Masaru certainly didn't take it too well. They remained rivals throughout their Academy career and even began to attend Leviathan together, much to Masaru's dismay.
Despite the separation from Pandy that lasted several years, Masaru's prediction eventually came true. While Masaru was finishing up his third year at Leviathan, his mother passed away and her new husband had sent Pandy back to Shellmount to be with him and their father. Masaru wasn't really pleased by the circumstance, he loved his mother, but he was nonetheless happy to have Pandy back in his life.
A year passed and Masaru finished his degree in engineering just as Pandy began to attend Grendel. Recently, his father passed and he now lives with Pandy in a small apartment and he works for a computer company, designing new hardware and software, and working to design a virtual reality system for gaming.
Thoughts on his Race: He chill with Imps, yo. He's bad at interacting with others, but he's fine with them. His favorite is his sister. He's not a big fan of Demons due to his rival Takeshi being one, but he's really never had a problem with them aside from Takeshi. He's pretty chill with other races as well, he doesn't have any reason to really dislike them. He is a bit wary on Grimm, simply because he doesn't know much about them, but he's happy to learn and change his opinion!
Thoughts on his House: Masaru enjoyed being a part of the Enoch house, but he wasn't very social when he was young so he didn't really make any lasting friendships. He did, however, meet Takeshi while in the Academy, and they butted heads immediately. Rivals ever since. But yes, Masaru liked being in Enoch and appreciates all that he learned in the Academy.
Goals: He once considered a teaching profession, but he's very bad at being social. he certainly has the tolerance for it, but he chose to pursue a less 'public' profession and became a computer program engineer. He aims to create a virtual reality gaming system and, while he knows this might be a long shot goal, he is determined to try.

Personality: Masaru is seemingly mean, but he's a big softie at his core. He loves to give affection, though this usually only happens with Pandy, or once he gets to know someone well enough.
He's not a pushover by any means, for he's very strong-willed and will hold his ground, but he's open to receive criticism and to be proven wrong, which he usually takes gracefully. He's far from perfect, however, and he has been known to have a temper if he feels insulted. His temper can be particularly nasty when he gets frustrated, though this is usually paired with exasperation and it's almost always aimed at Takeshi.
Positive traits: -Family-oriented Family is very important to him, considering his was broken up when he was a teen and he was separated from his sister. He doesn't want to think about a family breaking up, much less his own, both currently and his potential future family. -Affectionate While he comes off as being apathetic and cold, this isn't true at all. Once you get to know him, he's very loving under his prickly shell. This side of him is easier to see when he's with Pandy. -Innovative Always moving forward, Masaru is all about progression and technological advancement. He wants to create new and exciting things that other Nightmares will enjoy!
Negative traits: -Comes off as cold Masaru seems like someone that would just be difficult to talk to. He suffers from 'chronic resting b***h-face', so he always looks ready to bite someone's head off, but this isn't true. He's just an awkward nerd that doesn't know how to people. -Isolated So not social in the least, Pandy is the only one that can bring Masaru out of his shell long enough for him to socialize with anyone. Even then, he seldom leaves his workshop nor the apartment he shares with his sister. -Perfectionist This became a fault when he constantly tried to best Takeshi. He became obsessed with being better than his Demon rival, that he lost sleep and even stopped eating for a few days. Pandy worries about this a lot, and Masaru has been trying to be better about this and although he's made some progress, he still ends up losing sleep when he's figuritively battling with Takeshi.
Likes: -Games This is the driving force behind his career choice. He loves video games and he wants to make something new that everyone will enjoy. His favorite is adventure games. -Pandy His precious little sister, Pandy means the world to him. He was heartbroken being apart from her when they were younger, they had been the best of friends. He's just happy to have her back. He likes to embroider Pandy's things with little hearts and put her initials on them. -Engineering His major. He loves building or designing new type of technology and hopes to use his skills to make virtual reality equipment. He can't afford this on his own, which is why he's grateful to be working for a computer company that seems willing to fund his projects.
Dislikes: -Failing He hates this. He hates feeling like a failure. As a child, he didn't mind it so much because failing meant you were learning. But after meeting Takeshi, failure is not an option to Masaru. -Takeshi His forever rival. Masaru cannot stand Takeshi. He thinks the demon is obnoxious, self-centered, and an idea thief - all of which are actually true. He also hates when Takeshi tries to talk to Pandy. -Hackers This is pretty much one thing he dislikes the most about Takeshi. Masaru's work is in danger should a hacker get involved as it could crash his programs and make the equipment he makes fail beyond repair.
Hobbies: -Tinkering -Spending time with Pandy -Working -Embroidery

RP Prompt: Something has just reminded your Nightmare of a poignant memory. What was it, and what was the memory?
Masaru sat at his desk, looking over his sister's tattered bandana. He'd taken it from her room earlier that morning, intending to repair the frays. He was happy to see that she kept it and wore it often.
With a sigh, he pulled out his sewing kit and looked down to get to work as a memory began to rear it's head.
Masaru nodded to his father as he passed the living room on his way to his bedroom. The young Imp had just returned from class and he was wanting to take a nap before dinner. He crawled into bed and landed face first on his pillow, inhaling the familiar scent of home.
He rolled onto his side, looking at his desk. A flash of red caught his eye and he sat up, reaching over to pick up the bandana. He held it in his hands and sighed, looking sadly at the fabric. It had been so many years since he'd last seen his sister. She had to be nearing her final year in the Academy by now...
Pandy would have been so big now, would she even remember him if she saw him again? Why had their parents decided to divorce and separate? Masaru remembered that day clearly, the last day he saw his sister and his mother. He'd pulled Pandy aside after they'd finished packing and he gave her a bandana to match his own. He made a promise to her that they would see each other again. But it was so long ago, he didn't know if Pandy would even remember it.
Masaru sighed again, setting the fabric aside. He hoped this sadness would pass completely one day, and he hoped he'd see Pandy again soon.
Speak of the metaphorical devil, Masaru heard Pandy scurry around in her room. She was looking for the bandana. He smiled to himself as he finished embroidering her initials onto the bandana and he waited for his precious little sister to come and ask him where it was. He was glad to have her back.

~Staff Crit~ Appearance: -Looks fine. Backstory: - Looks fine. Personality: - Everything looks okay, except I wonder were "embroidery" came from on his hobbies? It just seems out of place with the rest of his interests. If you could just slip something in somewhere that it fits in with his attention to detail perfectionism that would help it fit in better. Prompt: - Prompts need to be written at or near present day situation for the character. So he could be the memory he's reminded of, but it can't be his current present because it's already happened.
