Well he had done as much as he could today as far as cleaning the bodies off of the fence. Now he was moving up the job totem and he was going to do some repairs. Sadly there was no way he was going to get computer experience here, but it may come some time. He walked slowly around peering at the fence looking for faults, and soon enough it came. There was a hole and bodies... no zombies, they were coming in.
Vayne sprinted toward the gap and grit his teeth he was going to have to fight them off himself.

Phew, it only looked like the zombie was trying to get in, since the infected was so close. It wasn't in yet, but it would get worse and something would get in. The damage was minor, he didn't have to do too much to fix it, a bit of wire, some minor tools and he would be able to patch that up simple. He didn't even have to know much about repair to fix this either.
He looked around and then started working.

Heck yeah he was smooth. A bit of wire here, a little crimping there and he was going to have everything perfect again. Well that and stopping once or twice to smack back grabby infected hands. Not as bad as worrying about being electrocuted at least. The fence was temporarily down to keep him safe and others were dealing with the other issues. When he was done he stood up and waved one hand to let them know to get the power going again.
Perfect job, it looked good, it was secure and a zombie promptly crisped itself trying to get through. Vayne walked away from the spot, handing tools off to other people as he headed to the showers. He was tired now, the adrenaline was fading and he just wanted to get some sleep.
He looked back at the fence again and wiped his brow. How did the holes form so fast. Digging under the fence made sense, but these things didn't seem to know what digging was. They threw themselves at the fence and fried. Maybe there were so many that hit one space and it shorted things out or the frying weakened the fence. He didn't know, probably would not know unless he sat there watching all day. Not going to happen.

Sept 24
Second day on fence repair. It was a pretty nice day, no rain, not too hot, the smell of the dead was not choking the air. A good day to be outside. Well if you ignored the whole fact that working was the reason you were out there. Vayne looked down at the tool kit in his hands and chuckled softly. Time to look for places to repair. He was ready to sign to the crew to turn off the power when he found something. No need to fry himself while doing this after all.

Well this was a pretty bad hole. Vayne frowned and looked at it. It had gotten really bad, he hadn't been in this sector the day before and it was showing. Maybe no one was stationed here yesterday? He looked around and took note that the grass was rather high, and there were signs of previous work, and a lot of infected traffic. Likely this was a point used to get the infected's attention at one point to keep the rest of the fence clear.
Enough guessing though, it was time to get to work. The power was shut down on the fence and Vayne started matching the wire of the fence carefully, putting up patches and wiring them in place. There were not a lot of good tools, so he wasn't sure how good it was going to hold. There would only be one way to tell, and that was when the power was turned back on, and the infected stormed the area again.
He looked for any signs of damage to the ground and surrounding areas as well. No reason just to check on the fence. Patching and filling a dug hole, maybe from a wild animal, or something. Were there any wild animals around here to attack? None seemed to be in the area, but who knew these days. The thorns were also getting closer, which made him a bit worried, he didn't want to try and get them off the fence.

And it was good to go. Vayne stepped away from the fence and gestured for the fence to be activated again. Looking on, he noted that no only did it hold, it also seemed to be a little more stable than what was around it. Good, now he could at least show pride in his work. Humming to himself he headed back inside, thinking that today was a really good day. No reason to feel down about any of his work.

What a lovely heap of wire surrounding the glorious prison. He rolled his eyes a little as he headed to the perimeter, a tool kit in his hands. He was on repair detail again and it was once more time to see if there was anything he can do to fix this thing.
He looked at the fence close to him, there were stress marks, and some small holes but he was out here to look for something he could do now to fix it. And that was when he found the real issue.

There was a open area, not yet large enough for anything to get inside, but it was enough that he was concerned with it. Kneeling down, he gestured for the fence to be deactivated so he could get to work. The work was an easy job, but if something like this was left open, something would come in. He looked down at the hole, grabbed some pliers, wire and tape and started to fix the gap. First of course he needed to push away the body parts near by. Stupid infected were starting to fall apart, and it got in the way of everything. It was getting to be a sad thing that he wasn't even phased by this crap anymore. There were worse things out there. He twisted the new metal in shape, putting it over the gap, and sealed it off with the pliers twisting tighter and some tape where it may be needed. A fast job, one that he didn't need back up for, and now everything was done. Or rather that is how things should have went, but instead he got up and the metal came right back down. Something was wrong... tools.. no they were good, but... crap the metal he had bound the other to, was not really holding either... He was gestured to, to leave and let someone else handle it for now... figures, what a pathetic failure.

Sept 29
Vayne and his little group of helpers headed out toward the fence for some repairs, and as they went that way, he found himself wondering just how much damage a darned fence can take? Seriously, the fence seemed to take so much damage that he wanted to stake it out and watch to see what the infected did over night. They seemed to run pell mell into the damned thing almost as if they were suicidal, and if it was not for the fact that they were already infected and dead he would have thought just that. The holes in the fence were getting more severe by the day, resulting in him spending more time fixing it than he really wanted to be doing. It was the kind of conundrum that made one want to pull their hair out, and the fact that this day's hole was so far superior to the others was not lost on the blond.
He looked at the massive gaping hole and grit his teeth, it would take some time, but at least for the time being, the infected that had encroached into their territory was harmless. It was legless and moved slower than anything he had seen in a while. It had to have been working on getting in there for the whole night.

Gesturing for those who were helping him to join in, he knelt down on the ground, waited for the power to be shut off and then started the rather formidable task of adding a whole new layer of fencing to the area. There was no minor patch and dash job here. This was a whole, sheet of metal added, wires clipped on, and reinforcement added to ensure nothing else was going to head into the hole later. He felt his back moisten with sweat and his arms aching by the time he had completed, but the whole of the job was done right this time and there was no worry that something else was going to come in during the night. A job more than well done, and he was proud of those that had helped him. With that done he cast an amused look at the infected that was twitching on the ground, and slammed his foot down on it to pin it in place. Game time.

Killing infected: (should have done first)
Damage: 2d12-8 (frying pan) Infected HP: 5hp (9 damage)
Vayne looked at the infected he had contained under his boot. It was a legless thing, crawling on its arms, being rather sad and pathetic. It took nothing for him to smack the sucker in the head with the frying pan, sending it crumbling to death... or final death, and to then be tossed over the fence with the rest.
"Done and done..."

He was starting to hit a mind fog. He had done this so much, and his little group of trekking pack mules had actually gotten to respect him a little since he was fairly fast and had yet to get anyone hurt. He looked back at them and nodded to a small hole in the fence. Today's work was going to be fairly quick and easy, he had no intentions of hanging around out here longer than needed. The infected seemed to be worked up by something and if he didn't know better he thought that perhaps the vines were getting far closer than they used to be. It was as if things were gearing up for some danger.

With all that in mind he got down to business. The hole was very small and didn't need much to be done to keep it safe, but that was no reason at all for him not to take his time and get things done proper. Taking his time was relative though, since for him that meant going pretty darned fast. There was little that he needed to do other than the usual grafting a new piece of fence on and wiring it shut. He was still not sure why there seemed to be so much damage done over night and part of him still had all intentions of staying out one night and watching to see what happened out there. Something was not right and he wanted to get to the bottom of it, but he was not going to do that at the risk of someone else. If he stayed out and watched it would be a time when he was completely alone and there was no one else even planning or thinking of following him out there into hell.
