It wasn't every night that Chara didn't have the urge to fight anything. Hell, every day he really just wanted to punch something or someone. Youmas were a great target especially since they gave a satisfying explosion of glittery dusty pieces when they were destroyed. And since the incident at the train platform Chara was MORE than happy to bust the balls of any little evil beast that crossed his path! But Just Not tonight.
There was something in the air that just made him feel nostalgic for the days when powers weren't a thing.. He missed those days about three months ago. But there were some perks that came with being a weird alien from space with super powers! Super strength, super speed. Summoned chocolate which was bull s**t cuz he couldn't actually eat it. But all in all, the perks were still pretty neat. And there was always something he wanted to try.
He was already out and about at night, so he made his way to his old Knightside elementary school. It wasn't too too TOO far out of the way. At the playground on the school grounds there was this swingset that he remembered loving. It was huge, and not one of those low hanging ones either. This one still came up high enough off the ground so that his feet dangled down below (he chose properly to ignore the fact that that was probably due to how flipping short he was). And it was always a childhood dream of his to do a complete 360 around the base of the swingset. Maybe with super powers it could ACTUALLY be a swing. As long as his damned heels didn't get caught in playfoam beneath his feet.
His fluffy butt (due to his shorts) still fit snugly in the seat and his gloved hands made the iron chains of the swingset so much more comfortable. No one was around right? And even if they were, he'd be sure their judging eyes would be met with his fist!

One of the things he hated most about being in high school was that there was no time for sitting around and doing nothing. Aka recess. High school seemed to be all work and no play, which he was typically okay with, but he did like to have time to put together his thoughts and figure out what his plan of action was.
Heading to the Knightside playground was a subconscious decision. He doubted any youma would be lurking around a playground that was only busy during school hours, but still, he found himself being drawn there. And surprisingly, he wasn't the only one there that night.
"What are you trying to do?" he asked in disbelief as he happened upon the scene of the senshi on the swing set. From the looks of it, he was trying to get the swing high enough to... jump? To fall off? Whatever he was doing, it wasn't going to end well. "If you go any higher, you're just going to fall..." he pointed out, although he had a feeling that this guy didn't care. Maybe he really was trying to launch himself off to see how far he could go. And if he got hurt, hopefully that would teach him a lesson.

What a surprise.. There was another senshi nearby. He supposed it made some sense. Perhaps there were no kids there now, but during the day this place was chocked full of them. For all he knew, these weird youma things were smart enough to take on the appearance of more cuddly creatures. Children WERE stupid enough to take those things as friendly, but so far the attacks on school property, from what he understood anyway, never really happened during the day. Buuuuuuut! If one had an attachment to the place you'd probably want to check up on it anyway. That's probably why the dude was here.
"Science, that's what I'm trying to do!" Pendulums were able to swing around when there was enough force applied, right? So why the heck couldn't Chara! The words of the new person around him simply made Chara huff and try to swing harder, giving a kick to the ground to launch himself up higher. Not quite to the point of a 180 degree angle, but getting there.
"Back off, kid, I'm doing an experiment and I don't need someone Like you raining down on my parade! And what exactly makes you think I CAN'T do it? If I swing hard enough, the Chain SHOULD stay taut. And yeah, sure, okay, maybe unpowered this may not be possible but can we - reeeeally - consider this idea unfeasible?" Even IF he couldn't do it the whole situation was super entertaining. He hated people telling him things wouldn't work! It just made him want to try harder.

"It's not physically possible," Oberon countered, shaking his head in exasperation as he waited for the other's "experiment" to collapse. Literally. "Working up enough rotational centripetal force by pushing yourself back and forth isn't enough to overpower the deceleration caused by gravity. The chains will collapse if you go any further. It would be more feasible if the swing had metal poles instead of chains," he added, not wanting to crush this kid's weird dreams of breaking physics.
"Unless you're launched with enough built up force," he said, using his hands to demonstrate, "You're going to go up," he showed with one hand, "And gravity will pull down on you once you get any further than halfway up," he showed with his other hand, moving down. "And since the chains aren't locked in place, you'll have no way of staying on that path and it'll fall. But by all means, keep trying. I'll keep my phone out to call an ambulance for you."

"Bah, physics! We're magical people, aren't we? When does physics apply to magic? Damn, you sure do know how to dash a person's dreams, don'tcha?" He wasn't entirely numb to the idea of how physics worked, and yeah, maybe somewhere deep down he knew it wouldn't work, but ******** all if the world made any sense at this point.
The whole fun behind swinging was so watered down now with the other's mini lecture that it just didn't seem all that fun to try anymore. at least not with this a*****e watching. After giving one last push off the ground and reaching up as far as he could swing, Chara leaped off the swing onto the playground turf below. Hell yeah, stuck the landing!
Now that solid ground was once again a thing, Chara approached the other senshi, looking annoyed as always with his brow scrunched up a bit and his eyes squinting at the other as if he was sizing him up. ********, why was everyone taller than he was?! If it weren't for these heels he really would have been like.. Five inches shorter than him. He looked shorter from the swings.. It was kinda tempting to get back on them now.
"You have alot of sciencey talk about you. Physics was never really my strong suit anyway. More about that botany. Are you just 'decent' at the subject and go to one of those shitty public schools around here or are you one of the people who end up going to HITS? Or wait, don't tell me, you're still going to this wee little kiddie place here?" What was a secret identity? This dude didn't seem all that threatening, even if he felt stronger. And they were technically on the same side, right? Both of the 'white moon' or what he had learned they were called.

Oberon was honestly surprised that the other senshi stopped what he was doing and jumped off. He felt a little bad that he'd obviously distracted him from his task, but on the other had, he really didn't want to hold this kid's skull together as they waited for the ambulance to arrive.
He gave the other a curious look as he was approached, snorting softly in amusement when he was asked if he was just 'decent' on the subject. "Of course I'm not just decent. I'm a genius. But HITS would be inconvenient for me since I live with my brother and he teaches at Azure," he said, lifting his arms to cross over his chest as he eyes the other kid. "I did go here, though. Always had top grades." Although it was easy for others to tie for top spot. Haven did, much to his dismay. He didn't know if they tied with anyone else since he didn't have too many friends he hung out with.
"Let me guess. You go to HITS and consider yourself a genius too," he wondered. "There's nothing wrong with public schools, though. Not everyone can afford the fancy private schools, or get the same opportunities to get scholarships or grants. In other countries, public schools are more ideal to get into, and those who can't get in have to go to private school."

"Another kid from here? Go figure. But you know what? Top grades and genius are overrated, especially in little kids. Sure, sure you're smart now, but guess what? You'll probably grow up to be an average adult just like everyone else. You think you're great and 'oh my gawd, like, totally a genius and the bet evar!' but in the end, once you hit 18, no one is going to give a single ******** about what you 'can do' anymore." Chara just rolled his eyes at the kid, starting to feel his ears grow a bit hot the more the kid spoke. God, he was kinda annoying already.
The whole conversation made him think of his older sister. Always described as 'blessed' with a gift in writing but as soon as she made it to college, she struggled and failed since she never knew how to study before because she was so 'naturally gifted'. Ugh.. Rather than just stand there and continue talking to him, he backed away again and turned on his heel to plop back down on the swings. There wasn't any danger, and this kid was as threatening as a torn play mat so he might as well just sit down and swing a little, even if he didn't really feel like swinging hard anymore.
"I'm not a genius or any fancy s**t like that. I just happened to like plants enough that I made myself good at it and boom, scholarship. I don't really give a flying ******** what these people have to say about 'college' and what not, if it happens it happens." Chara rolled his eyes again, harder this time. His eyeballs were most certainly going to get a work out this evening. and this kids argument was that of someone who had the whole 'be grateful that you're not worse off than the next person' vibe going on, and s**t, that just pissed him off more.
"Guess what, boyscout, we AREN'T in another country, so that argument is invalid. It's not MY fault people were born somewhere else with less privileges. Am I supposed to feel GUILTY about the fact that my situation is either better or worse than someone else's? And what of you, going to some rich boy preppy school because of 'connections'? Do YOU feel guilty about it? No? Then shut the ******** up."

"Probably," Oberon responded facetiously in agreement, his expression not changing after shifting to a blank stare once the other kid started telling him how he was probably going to grow up to be average, and how no one will care, and then telling him to shut up. He hadn't expected this other senshi to take him seriously about the 'genius' comment, but he'd apparently hit some kind of nerve. Whether he was just in a bad mood or, more likely, Oberon was doing something or saying something to piss him off, it was hard to say.
This wasn't just annoyance; it was closer to disdain, the way the other kid rolled his eyes and spoke. Disdain for Oberon in particular, or maybe disdain for the world in general. But Oberon had dealt with enough bullies and jerks to know when people didn't want him around and even more so when he should just walk away. Especially after the kid admitted to having gone to Knightside as well, Oberon decided he really didn't want to deal with anyone who probably gave him a hard time in school too.
Instead of saying anything else, since he figured it would just cause this kid to continue to curse and spit like a wet cat, he just lifted his hand to his forehead in a small, Boy Scout salute before turning to walk away. He was tempted to tell this kid how much of an a*****e he was, but with that attitude he was sure the kid heard that often enough. He had better things to do than be insulted. Maybe he would call Skadi and/or Perdita to see if they wanted to hunt youma with him. Kapoodles Ouch, Chara. ;; Fin? Unless you want to post again. Well, uh, if you wanted them to meet up again, it should probably be a situation in which Oberon can't just walk away. Haha

A moment of silence came over Chara as he watched the kid just kinda go blank. Was there really that little of a fight in him? Hell, he had thought that the kid would have another pre-written response to the whole argument but instead he just kinda flopped over. Kinda kicked puppy like. And maybe that boy scout term was a bit offensive to him? He really DID look like a boy scout in that getup! And what was with that salute?! Maybe he was one.
Chara never really picked on people who didn't fight back. There was never any fun in that. He liked arguments when both people were going at it, not just one side smacking down the other so seeing this happen just HURT. No no no, he wanted FIRE, and IRRITATION, not just.. this.
"s**t.." It was softly muttered as Chara heavily pushed off the swings to catch up with him, trying not to get too close. Who knows, maybe the kid had a violent streak, and he SO did not want to fight a kid like this.
"Hey, hey now. What are you walking away for? Did I hit a nerve or something?" s**t, that sounded more taunting, didn't it..?
"s**t.. It was just a passing thought, you know? I kinda.. Uh.. Responded angrily to it. Like I do with all things, yeah? Like, I've seen my sisters and cousins go through all that s**t and then BOOM, fell flat like a pancake once they left the house so, yeah, uh.. Kinda hit a nerve?" ********.. It was awkward as hell, and was this kid actual understanding anything he was saying? Or hell, would he even care? Chara, as much as he hated apologizing, knew he was in the wrong here. Might as well just suck it up and get it over with.
"I'm sorry, okay? Not the best first encounter, right? I'm tough as s**t but s**t with words so, yeah. Okay? Can we just chill for a second? You're a senshi too, right? A Senshi of what? Can You tell what I am, based off of this ******** stupid get up I'm in?" Maybe a quick subject change would make this whole thing less awkward. Or maybe the kid would just flip him off. Any sort of response would be better than what he was getting right now.

Oberon could hear the other senshi coming up behind him, which meant it was his turn to roll his eyes and let out a sigh of exasperation. Oberon knew he'd been the one to first crush this kid's apparent dreams of breaking physical boundaries, so he could understand the frustration, but what he didn't understand was telling him how he probably wouldn't amount to anything.
"Not that I expect you to care," he started frowning skeptically at the other. "One of my brothers is married with kids and plays major league baseball. His wife is a ballet soloist. My other older brother is an eight year Navy veteran, who decided to spend his time teaching kids instead of chilling on a tropical island. My dad was a Naval officer for over forty years and only retired when they made him. My mom hosts galas for charity events and volunteers regularly.
“I won't let myself grow up to be average. That's why I work hard to get good grades and go to my preppy school when I would rather just go to Meadow because it would be a lot less stressful. But I also don't want the world to be taken over by the Negaverse, so I come out and do this, too, when I should be studying because being average isn't an option I'm allowing myself."
Oberon said it all with a frown and slight irritation in his voice, but other than that kept the same expression as before. He didn’t know what this kid’s issue was, but neither of them had time to worry about each other’s potentially delicate sensibilities. He wanted people to feel good about themselves and stay motivated to do their best, but he wasn’t going to tolerate being told his own efforts weren’t worth it.
“Sailor Oberon, senshi of adventure,” he said with a wave of his hand like it wasn’t important. “No, I’m not new. I’ve been doing this going on five years. Yes, I know what I’m doing usually. No, I don’t have awesome magic. Yes, I realize I look like a Boy Scout. Great cosmic joke, right?” he offered in quick succession, wondering if he was going to regret stopping to continue talking to this other kid. “I would guess, but the irony would be too much if I was right,” he added, eyeing the senshi warily now. Kapoodles In Oberon's defense, his profile does have him as outspoken and emotionally detached. orz;; <3

"You're right. I don't give a ******** about you or your background. My statements just observations and touchiness, but when you get right down to it, I don't know you, you don't know me, so the ******** I give about your situation at this point are kinda beyond minuscule. You are you and you don't have to prove anything to anyone." Living to meet other's expectations just sounded dumb as hell to Chara. Everyone returned to dirt in the end so stressing about that kinda s**t just seemed so pointless. Yes, he was being TOO cynical for his age but life was life and he just came to think about it way too soon.
His arms came out to cross in front of him and he half shrugged about what the kid spoke of. Personal lives weren't all that interesting at this point, and he never really meant to prod too deeply. Small talk never was his strong suit. Finally the powers came up and that was a godsend. Thank the maker and any holy flying ******** that were out there for the change of subject.
"Holy s**t, five years?! Damn, I think you're probably the most experienced person I've met then? And you're just a kid.. And you've been doing this for that long.. I'm sure you've seen some s**t, huh?" All and all, Chara way envied Oberon's uniform. Atleast the kid didn't look like some poster child shojo main character or something. Hell, he could probably walk down the street just like he was and get minimal looks.
"Chara. The name is Chara. I've been out and about doing this s**t for like.. Four months at most? Got into one huge fight so far at a train platform but.. All and all, I have no ******** clue as to what's going on. Can't you tell by this attitude I scared off the cat that awakened me.. And it's Chocolate, by the way. Though I think the power of s**t would be very amusing. You could literally be flinging s**t. s**t would really hit the fan. You could make someone have a crappy day. You could LITERALLY give someone a s**t. AHAH."

”How insightful,” Oberon frowned at the suggestion for an awesome sphere of magic, lifting his arms to cross over his chest as he watched the other senshi with dulled interest. Oberon liked to think that he was decent with people, but when this kid showed no remorse for his attitude that apparently scared the guardian cat away upon awakening, well… there wasn’t much hope at the moment.
Perhaps they just got off on the wrong foot, but it would be difficult to convince Oberon that this senshi named Chara was trying very hard to meet him half way.
“I’ve seen enough. Enough to know that unless you reign in that attitude, you’re not going to last very long,” he said, knowing very well how he was when he started out. He did some things that he shouldn’t have and it was very lucky that he was still alive now. Being a senshi for so long was probably what matured him so quickly.
“Look, it was great meeting you and all, but there’s still monsters out there that need to be dusted,” he explained, letting out a small sigh and lifting his hand in a small wave-like gesture. “Don’t get yourself killed,” he requested as he took a step back.Kapoodles So sorry for the wait!! We can wrap in the next post or two and have them meet up again if you'd like!! <33

Chara's already pretty permanent frown just grew deeper as the kid before him seemed to try to scold him again. It wasn't the first time someone commented on his attitude, and hell, he wouldn't be the last! But damn, did he hate these kids who acted like they were above it all! Oh how he wished at this very moment the kid was on the team of evil, so he had and excuse to punch him in the face. How dare he reject his bit of humor like he was some grown a** adult!
"God, you must SUCK to hang out around if this is how you act all the time. My attitude has worked out just fine for me so far, so lighten up, will yah, and get off that goddamn pedestal you put yourself on. You're a kid too, ******** act like it, dude." Chara turned on his own heel, rolling his eyes in a useless gesture as he began to walk away too.
"And don't talk about me staying safe when you really don't give a ********. No one likes liars or uptight know-it-alls."
Guine This could be an end on my part! biggrin We SHOULD have them meet again in an actual dangerous situation! Chara's.. Actually matured very slightly in the past few months. xD
