There were quite a few game options to choose from... Finally, she settles on Black Jack. She'd played this game with her parents before to teach her numbers, and just for fun of course.
Unfortunately, as she counts the cards she was dealt, she realizes she was dangerously close to 21 but she didn't meet the 19 minimum... Frowning, she's informed that if she quite now, she'd only have to pay a 1 coin penalty: if she kept going however, she might win or lose but if she lost she'd pay a 5 coin penalty!
Sighing, the choice was obvious to her--quickly she hands back the cards along with a coin... She couldn't risk it...

Deciding she should try again, Ellie asks for another round. Nodding, the dealer tosses out the cards and she picks them up hopefully. To her delight, she found she had EXACTLY 19 points! Smiling excitedly, she shows the dealer and receives a approving nod before she's handed ten coins!

Deciding to play once more, Ellie asks for one for round. Nodding he deals the cards. This time however, as Ellie picks up the cards, she finds they added up to ten... Weighing her options, she decides to 'Hit the deck' as the term went...

Ellie, held her breath as another card was dealt to her. Unfortunately, it wasn't high enough... Sighing, she weighed her options again.
Gain ten or lose five... Well might as well try!

Luck decided her risk taking wasn't to it's liking... The card that was handed off to her was a... what was that? It wasn't a king... But apparently it counted as one and net her twelve points... Well, she took the risk...
Sighing disappointedly, she hands off five coins before getting up and leaving. She might come back to it later.

Excited and happy about being a mere seventeen coins away from life and freedom, Ellie returns to the Black Jack table and gives the dealer a small shy wave.
"Deal?" he questions as she sits down. Nodding, she scoops up the two cards thrown at her and looks them over. Frowning as she totals it up to eleven, she thinks musingly on it for a second before finally nodding again. "Hit me." she says softly with a slightly tentative tone.

Nodding, the dealer tosses her a card and waits calmly for her reaction. "Player has 14." He announces professionally.
Frowning, Ellie muses on her odds. Losing one coin would hurt a lot less then losing five... Sighing, she lays the three cards on the table. "I-I'm out... D-deal again please..." She says softly in a barely audible voice... Hopefully the next round would be better...

Nodding, the dealer takes back the cards, shuffles the deck, and deals out two more. Glacing at them, the corners of his mouth tilt down just the slightest bit. "Player has 14." he announces.
Frowning, Ellie picks up the two cards and looks at them musingly... It was ironic really... Getting a fourteen right off the bat... Still... There was a chance... Finally, she nods and looks softly at the dealer. "H-hit me..." she didn't sound confident.

Ellie's lack of confidence was well founded... As the third card was dealt, it turned out to be a nine... "Player has 23, sorry miss." he announces before taking back the cards.
Sighing disappointedly, she digs out the five coins and hands them over. "D-deal again p-please..." she says almost softer then before... Her lucky streak seems to have run out... But... She couldn't give up! She survived this long!

Nodding, the dealer shuffles the deck and tosses out two more cards. "Player has 11." he announces as she picks up the two cards.
Eleven again... Well, if she got a eight, nine, or ten she'd win. Still... that was a three out of twelve chance... But it was a chance she needed to take! If she lost she'd be eleven down; but if she won she'd make back what she lost and gain four more!
For a long moment she seemed indecisive. Waiting patiently, the dealer was a bit surprised to see the determination in her eyes as she finally looks at him. "Hit me." she says finally with a good bit more strength to her voice then before! She also didn't stutter either.

Ellie held her breath as the topmost card was removed from the deck and slid across the table. It lands next to her eleven making pare and was a... Eight! She got a eight! "Player has 19! We have a Blackjack!" he announces loudly!
Clapping excitedly, she slides back the cards and tucks away her ten coins! Smiling softly, she nods towards the deck. "D-deal again please!" she says in a much more cheerful tone then before! She was only thirteen away...
