Being able to see gave him a new lease on life, and a new lease on what could be done in the kitchen. So far he'd been doing fine without his eyes so he figured it meant there must be something he could do now that he could see. Or so he hoped.
This time he started off strong with some questionable meats. A lot of the people left in the prison were former inmates after all, needed to keep up that strength now. Kaethus turned the heat up and smiled at the pot. "Now let's see..."
In a quick dash he added in some peas and corn with some pepper to add to the stew. He watched it simmer and rotated it. He was never sure what the bottles he was grabbing were actually full of but he didn't see them now, or probably didn't recognize them since he could actually see. It added a depth of flavor which he was now missing.
He shrugged and grabbed for something, putting a dash in. Kaethus was hoping it was salt but the container said sugar and he stared at his concoction. "...Well s**t."

It smelled decent. That was the first thing he noticed as he looked down at the steaming pot. Kaethus was skeptical given that he'd mistaken the sugar for salt, but went in with his spoon anyway, putting it up to his mouth. Slowly placing it in.
"NOPE!" Kaethus cried and spit it into a trashcan nearby, almost hurling with it and he shook. Damn it! His mouth hated him and the rest of his body followed suit. "Ughhh..." Maybe it had really been a fluke, or something else. Either way he looked back at the stew, hating that he'd wasted all of that. But something was wrong enough for it not to be eaten and he tossed it.
"Ughh."
