It had taken him several weeks to get here, but he had finally arrived at his new pack lands. he looked around the thick forest that he was in and smiled. 'Finally, a home I can actually call home,' he thought happily to himself. Carefully, he made his way towards the river that was many miles ahead of him. He paused only a few times to catch his breath. he had been running nearly non-stop for 5 days when he caught the scents of the pack members of his new pack outside of the forest. The forest was bigger than he thought it would be and he had gotten trapped several times before he finally found the right path to the lands.
After walking for nearly 20 miles, he heard the familiar sound of running water. He turned around a large tree and found the river in front of him. He looked around for a crossing point and saw a fallen tree that went over the river. Slowly, he approached the log and tested its sturdyness with his forepaws. Confirming that it was firm enough to support his weight, he slowly jumped onto the log and started his way to the other side of the river slowly, being extremely careful that he didn't lose his balance and fall into the river.
After a few tense minutes, he finally made it on the other side of the river and he hopped off of the log. He glanced around and saw a meadow in front of him. 'Great, another meadow,' he thought bitterly to himself. At least this one had no snow. It was too close to the ocean to have snow during this time of the year. Slowly, he began to make his way out towards the meadow, hoping the alpha male in this pack was a wolf he knew.

[sorry i didn't reply sooner. Forgot about the RP. sweatdrop ] Flit stopped in his tracks as he heard his name being called out to him. he turned his head around to see Phib standing near the edge of the field. He pricked his ears up when he saw his old friend and he sighed. 'So, this is the Alpha of these lands. I am glad it isn't an unfamiliar wolf,' he thought to himself.
Slowly, he walked over to Phib, his tail held down low, as if he was showing that Phib was in charge around here and that he was nothing more than a Gamma male. He pinned his ears back against his skull and was about to lay down on the ground and show Phib his belly, but then he stopped himself. 'He knows me and that I would follow his rules anyways,' he thought to himself, but that didn't stop him from thinking that his friend might have power over him.
He came to a stop a few feet away from Phib and he lowered his head slightly. "So, you are the leader of these lands? Interesting." He glanced around the meadow and caught the scents of the other wolves. 'So there are others here,' he thought to himself. He flicked his tail slightly, but continued to keep it held down low.

( No worries :3 )
"Interesting?" The male remarked somewhat jovially, his tail arching but swaying with a pleasant expression. He had never minded Flit's company- there was no need to domineer, and he sat himself down a few moments later after more thoroughly arriving. His ears slanted forwards, and carefully the end of his tail thumped against the earth. He was actually rather pleased to see the other male. There was just something likeable about wolves that he did not have to watch himself with. As a dominant wolf, he kept himself always in the mindset of looking for potential usurpers- but when nonthreatening conversation arise, he did find that rather relaxing in any case.
"But yes, these are my lands." Phib spoke, his brow furrowing somewhat. "And a bit further on towards the ocean. What can I do for you?"

Flit nodded his head as Phib question the word 'interesting.' He had always found new lands to be interesting and this was a very interesting land. he gazed around and sighed. He wished that he could stay here forever. An idea popped into his mind and he smiled slightly at himself. He turned his attention back to the alpha male as he raised his tail a little bit, but not enough to challange the other male.
He listened to Phib's question and he quivered his tail at the tip. "I was wondering if I could join your pack? I promise I won't get in the way and I will follow your every command." He canted his head and pricked his ears up slightly. He wondered what was going on in Phib's mind. The other male looked like he was mad at something. He lowered his head a little bit more as he lifted a paw up. Surely Flit did nothing to cause Phib to be angry at him. Sighing, he lowered his paw down onto the ground and he squeezed his eyes shut, afraid that Phib might say no to his request.

The long wolf chuckled, and shifted his ear. "You may join, if you wish." His ear slid carefully to the side in thought, although a smile had now slid across his face. It was still a bit serious- but it was pleasing non the less. Formally he nodded his head, his neck bending. There was a kind of tradition in this- but it was one that he had never heard nor been taught. It simply was there. "And if you will follow me, then I will do all I can for you."
To some there was a perception that the pack lived to serve the alpha. And although he did expect them to follow what he advised- he also saw it as quite the opposite. It was his job to make sure that his pack was comfortable. He had to think of things that they wished not to be troubled of, and ensure they would not only have food but protection and shelter. This was not a one sided agreement- and there was a great regard in accepting such sentiment. "I would be glad to have you, Flit."

Flit nodded his head slightly when he heard Phib accept his offer to join the pack. he smiled slightly, happy that he was accepted somewhere. He glanced at Phib and saw that the other male had a smile on his face, but it was a stern one. He bobbed his head slightly at the alpha and nodded. "Thank you," he replied to Phib kindly.
He flicked his tail as he gazed up at the sky. he could see that it was a clear sky today, like the day before. He sighed. 'I am happy the clouds are gone. Spring will soon be upon us and then summer.' He gazed in the direction of the ocean and saw it faintly. 'I bet the ocean water feels good in the summer time.' He began to get lost in thought when Phib snapped him into reality. He turned his head at the other male and he canted his head, trying to remember what Phib had said. It took him several moments to remember what Phib had said and he nodded his head. "Thank you. I am glad that I found somewhere where I belong," he commented to Phib.

The old king nodded his head, and shifted his shoulders. "It is good to belong somewhere, but you may come and go as you please. We keep our lands, but we keep mobile as well. You need not ask to leave unless it might be so long that it would become worrisome." He remarked steadily. This was something new he was trying. In the north, it had been dangerous to leave the pack. But in this place, wolves moved freely. He himself spent a great deal of his time roaming the freelands. "And of course, let us know if you overhear something interesting." He spoke, rising to his feet and stretching. "I care little for surprises, so I like to know what to expect of the world. You have seen me about before off my lands, and I will on occasion slip off and return by night. So, do not feel kept in one place here."
His ears shifted, and he turned towards the direction of the ocean. He could not see it, but the scent was everywhere. "The ocean, in that direction." He recounted slowly, before sliding his eyes over towards Flit. It was almost as if the introduction had subsequently ended, and haphazardly he added- "And what has Flit been doing these past months?"

Flit nodded his head at Phib's words. He sat down on his haunches and began to scratch and itch on his back, still listening to what Phib had to say. He canted his head to one side as he heard a slight hesitation before Phib's question. Flit looked down at the ground for a few seconds before looking back up at the other male. "I was wandering around, trying to find myself," he told Phib calmly. He closed his eyes for a few seconds before opening them up and staring at the sky. "There has been so much in my life that I want to know and the first thing that I wanted to do was to get to know myself." He thumped his tail against the ground and stared in the direction of the ocean. 'Oh, how I wish that everyday could be this wonderful,' he thought to himself.

The old king chuckled, and ruffled his coat somewhat. "I'm afraid knowing yourself is something we might all be stuck trying to find. We loose ourselves easily in life." He remarked, his pale eyes glancing towards Flit. He did remember though, the importance of finding oneself in the younger years. He had even tried, some time that felt like lives ago. Had he ever been young, Phib thought? There were times when it felt that he had always been at the crossroads between being young and old, and never did he move between them. It was only now that he was starting to get older, that he felt younger then he should have. This pleased him, at least somewhat.
"And what did you find? Anything that resembled yourself?"

Flit heard Phib chuckled at his comment and he flicked his tail slightly. It wasn't like he didn't like chuckles, he just didn't get it at all. He hadn't laughed in a long time-not since he had lost his memories of his childhood years and went wandering to find them. He shook his head and sighed. "No, i saw no other that looked like me. I only saw darkness," he muttered softly.

"I'll tell you the truth then Flit, you won't find yourself." Phib remarked, the end of his tail shifting. "It sounds more depressing then it is, really. Life has too much to spend all your time looking for who you are, when you are the one controlling yourself all the while. If you could imagine the person you would want to find on that journey- then be that person. I would not look for him, it only leads to smoke and shadows." He spoke, his brow knotting in consideration. "You'd be surprised what you end up finding when you aren't looking for it."

Flit canted his head, surprised at his friend's reply. He nodded his head and stared off in the distance. "I see," was all he said. he flicked his tail slightly as he noticed the ocean in the distance. he pricked his ears up as he began to wag his tail happily. 'So that is what the ocean looks like,' he thought to himself happily. he glanced at Phib and bowed down slightly to him. "Thanks for the advice," he told the Alpha confidently. He slowly turned around and was about to walk away when something told him to stay. "Are there many in this pack of yours?" he asked curiously. Something made him ask that question. He was curious how many Phib had 'recruited' into his newfound pack.

Flit shuddered when Phib mentioned that he was the thirteenth wolf in his pack. "unlucky number," he muttered under his breath. Or was it? He didn't believe in those kinds of myths, but he did ponder if they were real or not. He sighed loudly as he nodded. "I agree. That isn't that bad at all." He turned his gaze where he came from and sighed. he wished that his friend and lover, Eisig, was with him, but she had to go somewhere before she could join him. He thumped his tail against his hindquarters as he sighed again.
