Shadow of Athens Danger Level: 1
Athens was once one of the most famous cities in the world. The birthplace of modern education and philosophy. However, that was in ancient times, and the city no longer holds the weight that it once did. As times moved forward, the people of Greece attempted to fight the use of the alien technology, and they refused to move forward with it. They were left in the past, and though they were right in the way that they rejected the enemy's tech, they ended up falling to their foes regardless, as the cities with advanced technology were the ones to receive the aid from B.A.I.T.R. As Athens crumbled, falling with the rest of Greece, the world lost treasures that can not be replaced. Some of the sculptures, artwork, and scrolls that are still housed in these ruins date back thousands of years. The city is constructed mostly of ancient stonework and dated architecture that holds a humble presence to this day. Walking through the destroyed city is akin to taking a step back 5 thousand years into the past.
The A.I. Cores, due to the city having no alien technology within it, are few within the city, though there seem to be strange migrations of A.I. Cores that flow through the city at irregular periods. It has been reported that some of them disappear into the ocean at the edge of the city, and that they are massing an army beneath the water, creating a base of operations in the oceanic caverns beneath the city. Though they have been sighted going into the water there, no A.I. Cores have been sighted coming back out, and the city remains relatively quiet despite the amount of them that come through it.

Acel couldn't believe it had happened again--even though he didn't have anyone around to mock him for it, the man had still just thrown up after teleporting once again. It was something he felt like he would never get used to, but he hoped fervently that he would. He sighed as he stood up straight from being doubled over by the retching. He wiped his mouth with his sleeve, disgusted at himself once again, but trying not to worry about it as he finally focused in on exactly where he was. This place was....beautiful. The buildings look absolutely colossal compared to Bergerac, though he supposed that they could be compared to Paris, or Headquarters. But the design was all different. The stonework was incredible, even though the walls were sometimes in shambles, or had cracks running through the thick stone. The place felt...unsafe, and he wondered if that was what the old man had been trying to teach him. These places truly were dangerous and Acel didn't question why they tried to keep citizens from living on their own out in places like this...they were death traps. There was a massive building with pillars all around it, holding the roof of the massive structure up without actually having walls. Even the roof of the building was long caved in and vanished leaving a strange box with no walls and just pillars and pieces of roof here and there. Acel marvelled at it, as he stood on high. The building was far above the rest of the city, and he was able to look down from there at the rest of the place. The city sprawled outwards, but the buildings were all stone and wood--there was very little modernization in the way of the B.A.I.T.R protected cities. This place was far more humble...it was far more homey. Acel wondered what it would have been like in its prime--when it was a thriving place to live. He would have liked it here--at least he thought he would have. It seemed quite nice. But this feeling was soon replaced with a feeling of sudden dread, and he didn't know where it was coming from, until he felt his 'heart' begin to palpitate, making strange feelings within his chest. "Careful, Acel...we've got company. I don't know where they are yet...but I can feel them close. They are watching. And they are waiting for you to be unaware. They are much stronger than I am...I was nothing compared to the enemies you are going to face. But I will do everything I can to help." Acel nodded in response, suddenly jerking out of his enraptured state as he looked at all the buildings in the large, sprawling city. "I will be sure to keep my eyes peeled. No way am I letting these bastards sneak up on me. But I am surprised at how remarkably quick they have already begun to hunt for me...is it like this everywhere?" The A.I. seemed to laugh in his mind at first, and as it felt Acel's annoyance it quickly stopped. "Yes, and much worse. There are places so filled with the A.I. Codes that you walk into an empty street and then as soon as you arrive, they all materialize and you literally can't escape the numbers. This place is almost barren compared to those. In fact, places like this, we don't come too often. I've heard rumours about this place--about something in the water that draws a lot of my kind here...but I never investigated it. You're lucky you weren't torn to pieces when you were still throwing up...honestly, I am surprised at how lackadaisical you have been since arriving...you can't let your guard down in places like these...not ever." Acel really hadn't realized how bad it was until he had listened to the Obelion, and he nodded once again as he began to descend into the city below.
"You do realize that going into the city is the perfect place for them to ambush you, right?" Acel sighed, almost annoyed and looked around himself as he walked down further into the clutter. "That's the idea, genius. I am trying to lure them into attacking, or I won't ever know where they are, right?" The Obelion was silent as Acel walked further into the city, and the silence almost unnerved Acel, before the core spoke into his mind once again. "You know, you're pretty smart for a farmer. How do you know all the s**t you know? Have you ever wondered that. Have you ever tried to think about it? You know something is off---" The voice started to fade out, and Acel furrowed his brows as he thought about it. He was trying to listen to the code, but all of its words were suddenly like they were far away. Like the Obelion was talking through a window and the words barely made it to him, and he wondered if this A.I. had some sort of malfunction. He shrugged the feeling off, and he kept walking, moving further into the city as he looked from place to place. He walked into old houses and shops and he looked around inside. There were so many things that had likely gone untouched for centuries...it was wild. When he finally made his way into an open square he sighed as he sat down on a curb and kicked his legs out, closing his eyes and waiting. He kept his ears trained on his surroundings, waiting for any noise as he sat there, hoping that he could draw them into the open area. Perhaps their want to kill him would exceed their caution. They must know, considering he had the swords on his hips that he wasn't just a regular man.Quote: B.A.I.T.R Standing: 84 Health: 840/840 Control Limit: 668 Skill: 57 [57] Strength: 60 [61] Defence: 50 [50] Quote: Tactical Advantages Battleground Proficiency - Level 4 - You gain +8% to all defence chances, and your opponents receive -8% to their defensive chances against you. Framework Cat / Clasper - Initiation Rolls They had been following the man for some time now, confident in their ability to silence him when the time came. They needed to pay close attention to his actions and wait for when he was not prepared. They missed the perfect opportunity when he had first arrived, puking all over the place, and weak, but they had not been close enough to pull him. The Clasper had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to grab the man so they could beat him to death, but this was not the time. The enemy had to wait, as when the Clasper had been about to shoot the hand to catch its prey, the man had recovered and seemed far more alert. They did not want to give up the element of surprise if they didn't have to. The framework cat prowled through the streets, its wooden body exceptionally quiet as it walked carefully through the area. The two cores made no noise as they followed Acel, observing him as he walked through the city and poked around houses and old shops to see what they had inside. As he found himself a clearing, the man actually sat down and leaned back, resting his eyes in the middle of the city. The framework cat almost charged into the open with reckless abandon just because of the absolute disrespect that Acel was showing for his surroundings. The man was even limping on some sort of crutch, for god sakes! But, as they observed him, they prepared themselves, almost ready to strike, but not quite. They didn't want to rush this, they needed it to be perfect as they edged toward the clearing. This was it.Quote: Framework CatB.A.I.T.R Standing: 93 Health: 540/540 Skill: 50 Strength: 80 Defense: 56 Tactical Advantage: Unburdened: You are not fond of wearing heavy armors, but instead you make up for defense with speed. Turn 1 As the man just lay out in the open, the Clasper found itself getting extremely aggravated. It didn't know why, but it just couldn't stand the idea of the man merely laying in front of them, basking in the sun as if there wasn't a problem in the world. Was he truly this confident in his abilities that he thought he could sleep outside of the precious walls of his cities? Did he think that without the anti-A.I. shields that his b*****d people had come up with, that they wouldn't all be dead? That all of them--every single human being--would be nothing without the power that they stole from the A.I. Race? The Clasper couldn't stand any further humiliation from the man, and the core refused to sit idly by, there was no reason for it--besides--the man was alone. It wasn't like he was strong enough to take on two fully fledged Bit Cores. These two had made meals out of many people in Athens before, and they would do it again. They would crush this man into a pulp and they would slurp the vile creature blood up off the curb. The Clasper readied itself, knowing that its best possible action would be to open up with some form of grab so that it could snag the man and pull him back to them. If it succeeded, the Bit Core was sure that it would be able to follow it up with a savage attack from the other A.I. Core. It stepped into the clearing and it aimed its arm, immediately firing it before Acel would be able to react to the core stepping into the clearing at all. The arm popped with a loud hiss as the arm separated and launched forward with a jet blast of air, shooting towards Acel's body with the hand outstretched and ready to grab the man as soon as it made contact and rip him from his pretty little day dreams so it could smash him to pieces.Quote: ClasperB.A.I.T.R Standing: 78 Health: 960/960 Skill: 40 Strength: 60 Defense: 56 Tactical Advantage: Pull Strike: Once every 5 turns, you may use a Pull Strike instead of a regular attack. Turn 1 Clasper's Attack: 60 - 50 = 10 (100 - 10 = 90% Chance) (+8% From T.A. = 98% Chance) As Acel lay there in the sunshine, basking in the warmth of the stone beneath him, he felt at peace, even as he knew he was being stalked. He had an ally on his side that was able to help him out, and he was truly utilizing the A.I. Core that fought with him. The Obelion was able to increase Acel's observational skills by a great deal, utilizing the innate sensory collection that the Obelion had. These sensors instantly allowed Acel to take into account his entire surrounding and utilize the battlefield to his advantage at all times. His opponents would find his maneuvers strangely effective, and their own would be clouded by the constant use of the field against them. As the Clasper entered the clearing, the battle was already beginning, and there was no backing out of it for either party now. It had begun, and either life or death, this would decide it for both of them. "Do you really plan on replacing me? I mean...I understand if you want to get a stronger core. I have been heavily weakened by the fact that I was imprisoned for so long but I really--" Acel silenced the Obelion as the clasper entered the clearing and he immediately shot into action. Acel's body hurled itself into a forward roll, and he sprung it his feet out of the somersault as the hand was nearly in front of him. There was no time to draw his blades, and block with a slash, so instead, as he ripped one of the swords from its sheath, he continued in one fluid motion to drive the hilt of the blade upwards into the palm of the hand and knock it upwards and over Acel's head. The man was absolutely ready for the attack, due to the advantage his A.I. Core gave him. "You should not fear being replaced. You are the first core that I have mastered--and you were a prisoner of my people before I found you. I will not be replacing you so easily...we have a bond...we kept each other alive. You will be by my side, and we will grow strong together. Starting with these chumps right here." Acel stated with a grin as he entered a combat stance, watching the hand that had been launched out suddenly begin to reel back in towards his opponents. There was also a large cat-like core there, and it seemed to be made out of some sort of wood. Acel eyed it up--intrigued by its design, but instead of waiting, he took immediate action as he rushed toward the Clasper.
The enemy was still reeling its hand back in when Acel was following, keeping close beside the hand as it returned to its owner. Acel's swords began to trail behind him as he ran as fast as he could, his arms slightly held behind him as he ran to get ready to pull them both forward when he got close enough. Within a few feet of the enemy Acel jumped towards him. The enemy was still on the outskirts of the open area, and Acel used it to his advantage, suddenly, in mid jump, he used a bicycle rack that was in the middle of them to spring in an abrupt areal maneuver. He shot into the air from the bike rack instead of continuing with the forward momentum of the first jump, and as he came down he swung both swords down towards the enemy's head, aiming to do some serious damage. As soon as he hand landed, he did not wait--he had to attack with everything in him, just like Dal'Mori had been doing to him in his previous battle. He had abandoned his crutch, and his leg felt like it was on fire, though the pain was slightly less, as well in his ribs. Perhaps the disassembly and reassembly of the teleportation room had actually helped the process. Regardless, as he landed he suddenly popped up to his feet and crossed his defensive blade across his chest as he swung the sword down in a heavy arc toward the hand that had only just reattached itself after being shot out toward him.Quote: B.A.I.T.R Standing: 84 Health: 840/840 Control Limit: 668 Skill: 57 [57] Strength: 60 [61] Defence: 50 [50] Quote: Tactical Advantages Battleground Proficiency - Level 4 - You gain +8% to all defence chances, and your opponents receive -8% to their defensive chances against you. Turn 1 The Framework Cat had been the one making sure this whole time that they didn't rush in and ******** this whole thing up. even when they had first found the human, the Clasper had wanted to run in while he was recovering from throwing up and just throw its damn arm out there to grab the man without even thinking about whether or not either of them were prepared to fight. The Framework Cat was the stronger of the two A.I. Cores, and it had thought that it had control over the situation they were in, but it had appeared that it was incorrect. As it watched the man, tensing itself up so it could rush forward in utter silence, the damned Clasper waltzed into the open and just noisily shot off its hand to try to capture the oblivious human. Except, as the Framework Cat had been worried about, this man was not oblivious at all. He was obviously a trained combatant--a fighter--a baiter. The man launched into motion and as the hand neared him, he was able to use the blunt hilt of his sword to deflect the attack away from him. Quite the impressive movement. The Framework Cat was even more impressed, however, when the man launched through the air and sprung off of the bike rack into the air and came crashing down toward the Clasper. This man was no joke. They would have to gang up on him fast and hard, and make sure he didn't live to see the light of the next day. As soon as Acel had landed from his first attack, poised for his second, the Framework Cat blasted forward toward the man, the front of its wooden head opened into a savage, wooden spike-lined mouth, and the Framework Cat attempted to sink its teeth into the man's neck. It could only hope to bring him down quickly and disable him enough to end this fight before he could truly prepare, or before he could take out this stupid Clasper. Damn fool.Quote: Framework CatB.A.I.T.R Standing: 93 Health: 540/540 Skill: 50 Strength: 80 Defense: 56 Tactical Advantage: Unburdened: You are not fond of wearing heavy armors, but instead you make up for defense with speed. Turn 2Acel's Attack x2: 61 - 56 = 5 (100 - 5 = 95% Defence Chance) (-8% From T.A. = 87% Defence Chance) The Clasper was sure that it would be able to surprise the human. Though, it was not even beginning to think of the possibilities of who this man was--it had thought it could be a baiter, but it figured they couldn't be all that much stronger than a regular human. However, the agility that Acel displayed was an issue. The man was up in a flash, and then when he drew his sword, the hilt was able to deflect the hand with precision--he was good. The hand went over him and the Clasper cursed itself inwardly. If they lost this fight, the damn Cat was going to say something--it was sure it would say something. But ******** that feline douche...at least it was trying to actually do something instead of sitting back and watching the guy rummage through old houses and s**t. Acel was closing the gap fast, and the Clasper thought that its hand would make it back to it before Acel arrived, but it did not. It was only just about to get it back when the man launched into the air off of the bike rack. This managed to surprise the enemy quite well, but at the same time, it was not enough. As Acel came down toward him, swinging the swords down toward its head, the Clasper brought up the bludgeoning arm that it had, swinging the heavy weight upwards and knocking the swords away from it easily. Then as the man landed and threw his second attack, swinging the sword down hard once again, aiming for the arm that had just reattached itself, the hand ripped upwards and grabbed Acel's wrist, stopping the attack in its tracks. It was then that the Framework Cat made its move, lunging forward and aiming to bite the man in the neck. As the Cat managed to attack the man, the Clasper hopped off to the side and whirled its bludgeoning arm, sending the huge weight rocketing off of its arm, attached to a chain and aiming for Acel's knee. It hoped it could destroy the man's knee and cripple him for the rest of the fight.Quote: ClasperB.A.I.T.R Standing: 78 Health: 960/960 Skill: 40 Strength: 60 Defense: 56 Tactical Advantage: Pull Strike: Once every 5 turns, you may use a Pull Strike instead of a regular attack. Turn 2 Framework Cat's Attack: 80 - 50 = 30 (100 - 30 = 70% Chance) (+8% From T.A. = 78% Chance) Clasper's Attack: 60 - 50 = 10 (100 - 10 = 90% Chance) (+8% From T.A. = 98% Chance) Acel's eyes widened as the massive weight came swinging his way in mid-strike. He had not noticed the damned creatures other hand. For some reason he had expected it to mirror the other one that it had shot, but he was foolish not to analyse his opponent more thoroughly. The weight was an extremely dangerous tool that could easily crush bones. Acel had seen what a hunk of steel that size could do to an animal's bones when an old cannonball had fallen from a barn shelf and landed on a cow's leg, effectively shattering it. As he landed on the ground, the second attack was parried by the creature grabbing hold of his wrist and stopped the attack instantly. The grip on his wrist was incredibly powerful, but Acel would not let that be the death of him--no way. This thing was not going--s**t! He thought that the Clasper was going to be the one who attacked, but the Framework Cat was the one who came in after him. Acel brought his sword up was hard as he could, jamming it into the roof of the Framework Cat's mouth. As it was wood, the sword stuck into the roof of its mouth without sinking deep enough to damage anything, and it wedged the core's mouth open, not allowing it to successfully bite down on his neck, though it still blew Acel over with the force of its lunge, sending him sliding across the hard pavement with the massive wooden beast in tow. As soon as he had recovered from the fall, he was trying to get to his feet when the Clasper released the weight once more, swinging and then extending the chain to bring the weight flying down in an overhead arc down toward his legs. Acel's eyes widened as the weight came blasting toward him and he quickly threw his legs over his head, rolling backwards and simultaneously using the backward somersault to find his feet and spring back up, instantly taking on a defensive posture as he looked at the two enemies.
"You weren't kidding about these guys being tough...they are seriously strong. How long were you in prison with B.A.I.T.R? I mean, you went from this to how strong you are now all because of that time? It must have been ages." Acel could feel the annoyance in the back of his mind and he knew that the Obelion didn't like that one bit. "Yeah, yeah, rub it in, will you? To be perfectly honest, I don't even remember how long I was in there. Days turned to weeks, and weeks turned to months...months to years...years to...decades. We are able to tap into a massive amount of information, but the prisons keep us disconnected from it, so we have only what we already know. Memories I suppose. And memories after ten...thirty years...they get old. I promise you that." Acel bit his lip as he stood there and he breathed a heavy sigh. "Well...I promise you that you will never be alone again. We've got each other, right? You help me, I help you. I'd like to think that we are one and the same--true friends and partners in this journey. When I was born as a baiter, so were you. What's your name? Is there something I can call you other than Obelion? I don't like the finniky human title without real meaning thing." The A.I. Core was silent for a few moments, and then it spoke softly as Acel grinned from ear to ear, recognising the sadness and happiness mixed together. "A name...? I...well...nothing in your language. But if I were to have one...I have always been attached to the old myth of you humans. A king that could turn everything it touched to gold, but he realized that what he thought was a gift became a curse, and took from him all he loved." Acel beamed as he looked at his enemies, likely confusing the ever-living hell out of them as he conversed with his ally. "Midas. I like it. It suits you." Acel stated, proud of his new ally. "Let's christen that name with a victory, shall we?" He felt the agreement from Midas, and he took a deep breath as he levelled his sword in an accusing way to the Clasper. In that moment, Acel shot forward, moving with all the speed he could muster. The Clasper had moved into the clearing a little more, now, but he was near a short flight of stairs that had part of the courtyard raised and Acel tried to use it to his advantage, getting on the other side of the Clasper and attacking, lashing out with a savage hack at the Clasper's head, hoping he would hop backwards and trip on the steps. It was then that Acel would bring both swords down on the fallen foe, attempting to impale him with them both. If the Clasper did not trip, however, Acel would hop backwards and then drive forward, aiming a powerful kick at the Clasper's knee joint to try to put it out of commission.Quote: B.A.I.T.R Standing: 84 Health: 840/840 Control Limit: 668 Skill: 57 [57] Strength: 60 [61] Defence: 50 [50] Quote: Tactical Advantages Battleground Proficiency - Level 4 - You gain +8% to all defence chances, and your opponents receive -8% to their defensive chances against you. Turn 2 The Framework Cat was ready to clamp its jaws down on Acel's neck before the sudden twinge in the roof of its mouth came. It felt the blade poke into the wood, and as it clamped downward it continued to poke into the hard surface of the roof of its mouth, though it was more of a tickle than anything. But it could not close its jaw, and as such it could not bite the b*****d. But as it still tackled into the man, they both went sprawling across the cement. the sword was wrenched free during the fall, and when the Framework Cat got to its feet, it shook itself off, accompanied by a sound much like the creaking of an only wooden ship. When it focused, the Clasper was driving its weighted hand down in a swinging arc toward the human's legs, and the core shrugged its feline shoulders. At least the p***k was doing something useful--even if this human man was making a fool out of both of them. How was he able to so fluently avoid their attacks. He couldn't keep this up for too long--he would tire, and when he did, he would die. It was then that Acel recovered from the Clasper's attack, rolling backwards and then standing there with a stupid grin on its face. Both of the A.I. Cores were nervous--not sure why they felt so afraid of the man--but they felt it. He was different than anyone they had seen before. He had an air about him that demanded attention--demanded for them to be wary of his presence. He spoke to the core that he housed in his body--they knew what the baiters were and how they worked, and it seemed that they were bonding. It was difficult to say why, but the Framework Cat was actually interested in the conversation--this man had just given the core a name...were they...friends? No...that's not how that worked. The Cores that entered human custody were nothing but tools and prisoners. That was all. As Acel blasted forward toward the Clasper, the Framework Cat was shocked at the speed and accuracy he moved with. The sword flashed toward the Clasper's head, and then as soon as it had been executed, the second attack flowed perfectly into the result of the first--he must have been fighting for ages to learn how to move so well. But, as the man was so intently focused on the Clasper, the Framework Cat was not going to let him ignore it. It surged forward, its wooden feet clopping against the ground, though it tried to minimize the sound as much as possible, and as it got closer it lunged, snapping this time at the back of the man's calves in attempt to mangle his legs.Quote: Framework CatB.A.I.T.R Standing: 93 Health: 540/540 Skill: 50 Strength: 80 Defense: 56 Tactical Advantage: Unburdened: You are not fond of wearing heavy armors, but instead you make up for defense with speed. Turn 3Acel's Attack x2: 61 - 56 = 5 (100 - 5 = 95% Defence Chance) (-8% From T.A. = 87% Defence Chance) As the Clasper's weight slammed into the ground, the concrete splintered and flew in every direction from the force, though the man had managed to roll backwards out of the way, and the slam had missed its mark. The Clasper was starting to get pissed now. This guy was making a fool out of them! It would not accept that. As Acel came forward, slamming his sword down toward the Clasper's head, it swung it's clubbed hand upwards and bashed him in the arms to throw the swords off balance, ending the first attempt to strike him. As the man's kick came flying towards it, the Clasper brought its clawed hand downward and grabbed it by the leg, hoping to incapacitate him enough for the Framework Cat's attack to land on it. The Cat was definitely strong, it had to give its ally that, but the Clasper would not be outclassed. He knew that the man was going to be targeted in the legs by the Framework Cat, so it began winding up its weighted arm and hopped back, releasing the man's leg to throw him off balance and throwing the weighted arm directly at his chest. More likely than not, one of the attacks would land, and this man would learn what he was fighting against.Quote: ClasperB.A.I.T.R Standing: 78 Health: 960/960 Skill: 40 Strength: 60 Defense: 56 Tactical Advantage: Pull Strike: Once every 5 turns, you may use a Pull Strike instead of a regular attack. Turn 3 Framework Cat's Attack: 80 - 50 = 30 (100 - 30 = 70% Chance) (+8% From T.A. = 78% Chance) Failed! 400 - 150 = 250 Damage Clasper's Attack: 60 - 50 = 10 (100 - 10 = 90% Chance) (+8% From T.A. = 98% Chance) Acel had made another foolish blunder during his fight--he had made a mistake that was going to cost him dearly--quite possibly the mistake that would end his life. As he attacked with the sword, swinging it down with all of his strength at the top of the enemy's head, the core brought up the weighted arm, swinging the heavy weight upwards at him, and smashing into his arms to nullify the attack. Acel's arms were indeed rocked off course, and he felt them ache as he tried to recover, but this was not his mistake. As he went for a kick into the clasper's chest to knock it into the stairs, the core's grabbing hand locked down around his leg and his eyes widened. He had lost sight of the other combatant. He had been so focused on his attacks that he had stopped paying attention to the Framework Cat. He was ashamed at the revelation, but he could do nothing about it now. He could do nothing but fight his way out of this or die--and he surely hoped that he would not be dying today. However, as the Clasper held his leg tightly, the Framework Cat slid in behind him and clamped its jaw around his calm. His leg was already aching from the pain that Dal'Mori had inflicted upon him, but it was different. Even though his leg hurt, it was fully functional, it was all in his mind--this was not. The wooden fangs sank deep, tearing into the leg and as it released his leg, the Clasper had released his other leg, and he sent the heavy weight barreling toward him once again. He cursed under his breath, knowing that he was condemning himself to death, here. He was taking this fight as seriously as his learning battle that he had just gone through with Dal'Mori, and it was nowhere near the same. Sure, Dal had become savage toward the end of their fight, and he was hellbent on ending Acel, but it still didn't hold this kind of air. It didn't hold the 'learn or you are dead' feel to it. Acel bit his lip...he also hadn't been fighting against two separate people--nor had he ever done something like that. He was in danger--he knew this, but there was little he could do about it. He had to do what he could and there was nothing more. He had a feeling, as he dropped to the ground to avoid the swinging weight from the Clasper, that this was going to be the second time that he died.
As soon as he hit the ground--his hands planted in a small pool of his own blood--he felt the wind from the weight swinging over his head rustle his hair. As soon as the weight had flung over him, he popped back up--pushing off of the ground and sending himself back into a standing position, ready to continue. His injured leg was his left, and it was positioned to the back, where he was putting less weight on it as it bled openly over his khaki pants. He bit his lip, knowing that defeat was at hand. "Stop that s**t, Acel...we can do this...or at least take one of them out, right? If we can take one of these chumps out before we kick the bucket, we can at least take the strength back with us of one of them, and I can maybe be a little more useful next time." Acel seemed confused by it, and the core could tell, but he didn't dream in a million years that the Baiter didn't even know how the hell the Cores got stronger. "We absorb the other cores. That's how we get stronger. We absorb their code and we make it a part of our own to bolster it and increase our ability." Acel nodded in understanding as he continued to look at the Clasper--it was the weaker of the two to be sure. But its defences were far too high. Even if he hit the metal beast, he wasn't sure he could do enough damage. On the other end, the Framework Cat had many gears and cogs that were visible and could be broken. He almost kicked himself in the a** for not realizing sooner that he could have been going for a stronger opponent first, and he heaved a sigh. This was his target now--and he was going to take this b*****d Cat out. He whirled around suddenly, facing the Framework Cat and launching himself towards it, sprinting and hopping, trying to keep his leg from having too much weight on it at this point. As he got closer to the enemy he pulled back the offensive blade and thrust it forward with all of his strength, attempting for a stab at the gears that kept the front arm of the Framework Cat in motion. But as soon as he had pulled back from the stab he immediately threw himself into the next attack, keeping his defensive blade at the ready as he slammed the sword down toward the enemy once again. This time his sword was aimed to take the hinge off of the b*****d's jaw. If he could make his bite a little less threatening, he would feel a lot better about this fight.Quote: B.A.I.T.R Standing: 84 Health: 590/840 Control Limit: 668 Skill: 57 [57] Strength: 60 [61] Defence: 50 [50] Quote: Tactical Advantages Battleground Proficiency - Level 4 - You gain +8% to all defence chances, and your opponents receive -8% to their defensive chances against you. Turn 3Acel's Attacks x2: 61 - 56 = 5 (100 - 5 = 95% Defence Chance) (-8% From T.A. = 87% Defence Chance) (+5% from T.A. = 92% Chance) The Framework Cat watched carefully as everything unfolded. The Clasper had managed to evade the first attack that came toward it, smashing the man's arms out of the way, and then as the second attack came in towards the Clasper, the machine managed to grab a hold of the man's leg, and it was just as the Framework Cat was lunging in for its own strike. As the Clasper managed to hold Acel's leg in place, the Framework Cat beamed--it knew instantly that its attack was going to land successfully. The wooden beast clamped down hard on the back of the man's calf and it felt the blood gush into its mouth, dripping down and around the wooden material of its body as it savagely bit harder into the man's flesh. It let go for an instant, and Acel was in movement, hitting the floor to avoid the heavy weight of the Clasper as it swung towards the man's upper half. The Framework Cat was about to snap at the now earth-bound Acel, but the man pushed up and returned to a standing position with such speed that it was almost impressed. The man seemed almost lost as he fought--like he had never been in this place before. Perhaps he had never been out in the world like this before either...it would explain why he had been stupid enough to come to the outside world alone. But it did not matter--he was here now--and the two A.I. Cores had the pleasure of destroying him here and now. It didn't take long for the man to attack once again, and as he swung his sword, he sent it into a stabbing motion toward the gears within the Framework Cat's arm, but it would not allow such a thing to hit it. It immediately swung its body to the side, using its shoulder to check the man out of the way, shaking his stance and sending him stumbling to the side--not allowing him to properly swing the weapon at all. Then, he came in with a second strike, aiming a vicious slash at the Framework Cat's head, but the beast merely turned it aside once again, hopping backwards with incredible agility as it set itself up to attack once again. This man was not going to make it through this battle--it was certain of it. It jumped forward once again, now aiming for the man's other leg. If it could get both of them, it was almost certain that it could end the man's life right there. He could not hope to fight on even ground after having both of his legs mauled.Quote: Framework CatB.A.I.T.R Standing: 93 Health: 540/540 Skill: 50 Strength: 80 Defense: 56 Tactical Advantage: Unburdened: You are not fond of wearing heavy armors, but instead you make up for defense with speed. Turn 4Acel's Attack x0: 61 - 56 = 5 (100 - 5 = 95% Defence Chance) (-8% From T.A. = 87% Defence Chance) The Clasper was overjoyed that the movement it had prepared for the man's downfall had actually panned out. It had easily deflected his first attack, and when he had utilized the second attack to attempt to set the Framework Cat up for its own strike, it had ended in the beast's fangs tearing into the man's leg. When the crimson liquid began to spout from the fresh wound, the Clasper became even more energized. It had been confident in the beginning, but having not landed a single strike on this man in a two versus one encounter, it was beginning to scare the A.I. Core into believing that perhaps he had a chance at beating these odds--but no, there was no chance. The A.I. watched as the Framework Cat set itself up once again to attack. It easily avoided the man's attacks, pushing him out of the way and then hopping away from the second strike. It would seem this man had decided the Framework Cat was the more dangerous enemy--and that it deserved the priority attention. The Clasper would show the man how wrong he was! As the Framework Cat charged in and attacked once again--aiming for the man's legs--the Clasper charged forward, hopping into the air, but aiming its jump so that it was actually moving further away from the man, and into his blind spot before it fired off the clawed arm and sent the hand flying towards the man. If it was able to utilize it properly, it was looking to grab the man's head and crush it beneath the powerful grasp of the clawed hand. He would not be ignored, and he would not allow this b*****d human to live longer than he had the right to. They would end him here and now.Quote: ClasperB.A.I.T.R Standing: 78 Health: 960/960 Skill: 40 Strength: 60 Defense: 56 Tactical Advantage: Pull Strike: Once every 5 turns, you may use a Pull Strike instead of a regular attack.
