After the infected in the bathroom, Dylan tried to be slightly more alert. The repairing of the buildings would be helpful, but when it was decided that there needed to be more guards, Dylan was relieved. It would be good to have everybody trained, in case of injuries, or... well, he didn't want to think about it, but after hearing about the girl who was bitten in half by the shadows over the radio, death wasn't far from his mind. It'd be good if they all knew how this worked.

His mentor wasn't much into conversation, blunt and to the point with everything he said. Dylan had given up on chatting with him. Mostly. He kept hoping that he'd find a topic the older student was interested in. If just to break up the monotony of guard duty.

He'd rather it being boring than exciting though, as excitement meant that something was likely going wrong. An infected, or a group of them, or a fire, none of which he wanted to deal with right now. He would, of course, as that was part of the job, but he'd much rather not have to.

However, his wishes were to go unfulfilled, as he spotted on of the infected heading towards the dorms. It wasn't close, not yet, but if he, and his mentor of course, didn't do something, it would likely get in. Hmm. He glanced over at his mentor, who mimed a throwing motion.

Of course! He could do like they did in adventure stories, to cause a sound to draw away the attention of an enemy. Hopefully it would work just as well with the infected.

He looked around, searching for something to throw. It couldn't be too small, or too large to carry, about hand size would be perfect. There had to be something around that would work, and his eye caught sight of a piece of rubble that looked like it might be perfect. He grabbed it, tossing it up and down a couple of times. This would work.

He stared back at the infected and then at the area around. He needed to his something that would make a loud sound to draw it's attention, which meant actually hitting something that wasn't the ground. The wall maybe? Wait. He squinted his eyes. Yes! That was a trashcan, and Dylan was pretty sure that he could hit it. He hadn't played baseball in high school for nothing.

Dylan took aim, and threw. He closed his eyes for a moment, opening them a moment later. As much as he didn't want to see if he missed, if he had he'd need to quickly throw a second. Maybe he should do that anyways. He grabbed a slightly less perfect piece of debris, and then threw it as well.

Thunk, and then a few moments later, a second thunk.

The infected looked up, and then turned to follow the sound. It had worked, but Dylan kept watching, He wanted to make sure that the infected had left the area before continuing to patrol. It looked like it was, but Dylan wanted to head to the roof of the dorms to make sure.

"Roof?" he asked, and his mentor nodded. It was part of their round anyways, and so they made their way up the stairs. Up on the roof was a second pair of guards, and he nodded at them in greeting as they checked over his jersey. Dylan grinned. It was nice having these, to have an easy way to identify if the person belonged. He supposed that they could have done passwords or secret handshakes, but jerseys were far easier. He probably would have forgotten the other anyways.

Dylan peered over the roof, looking down at the grounds. There was the infected that he had drawn off, and it hadn't turned back yet. The rest of the area seemed clear, except for a couple of other members of the faction. He could see the jerseys from here, so they weren't a problem. They were probably returning back from scavenging, or one of the other things that needed to be done around campus.

Good for them.

He checked back on his infected, nodding when it finally vanished from sight. Hopefully it wouldn't be back, but if it was, they'd just have to deal with it. He watched for a while longer, making sure that nothing was going wrong. He would have to report the infected, just so that everyone was aware that they were coming closer, but better the ones they knew about that the ones that they didn't.

Nobody wanted a repeat of the bathroom incident.

A few minutes later, Dylan and his mentor headed back down the stairs. They had a little more patrolling to do before they could head back in. They finished it up without any further incidents, and Dylan thanked his mentor for chaperoning him. He'd probably have to work with him a few more times before he was allowed to patrol on his own, and that was fine with Dylan. He wasn't quite ready to be on his own anyways.

Freshman Quest: Apprentice Guard Duty
After certain events happening (right under their noses!) it was decided there were not enough guards to keep their eyes on everything. The goal of this quest is to start training for guard duty earlier than they have prior to now. All freshman will be assigned to a higher ranking member to show them the ropes.

Quest Notes:
-This is a RP format Quest! No dice, just RP.
- Choose one (or more than one if you'd like!) Scenario below and RP it out.
- The higher ranking officers mentioned are random NPC's, just pretend it is some random member of the group mentoring your character(s).
- You can do this Solo or in a group! Just pretend each of you is assigned a NPC mentor.
- Make sure to make a note somewhere in your post(s) about wearing your Jersey! You are leaving the dorms so the Jersey is required.

Scenarios:

1: You and your mentor spot one of the infected getting a little too close to the dorms. Quietly look around for something (you're choice) to throw as far away from the university as possible - The noise will hopefully attract the infected away! Does it work?

2: Investigate a strange noise you hear. It turns out to be nothing (perhaps just a mouse or maybe a fellow team member playing a prank?) RP out what you find!

3: You discover part of the University where the lights have gone out mysteriously. Making a mental note to tell the leaders, you decide to check it out as well. What do you find? (most likely a false alarm! Just a fizz'd wire~ )

4: On the rooftops of the dorms you peek over the edges to the open grounds below- What do you see? Infected? Burning Objects? Other people? Nothing? Remember to stay quiet if its an infected or other people! No need to give away our position.

5: WILDCARD: You decide what happens! But remember, no battles!
