The Atacama Ruins is one of the few city zones that boasts little enough danger for young baiters to travel into. The lands in which the city resides are some of the most inhospitable lands on Earth. The Atacama Desert of South America is the driest non-polar desert on Earth, and very little can survive in such a place without a very generous supply of their own water. Tales have been told of baiters wandering the desert for months, or even years, only to stumble back into civilization to find that they had only been gone for a matter of days or weeks. Time seems to have no hold on this place, and the heat does strange things to human minds. The desert itself, as such, has been closed off to the inexperienced, and instead, the ruins themselves are the only places that the new baiters are permitted to go.
Within the city, there are enormous amounts of artifacts to be found, though the ruins give many people the creeps due to the fact that there are skeletons littered throughout the streets or inside buildings. All of the people who died within the city seemed to have died without any sort of struggle at all. It as as if they all just sat in one place and waited to perish from starvation. The surface of the city is desolate and without much active power coursing through it, but it is said there are emergency hatches in the city floor, leading into underground tunnels and systems that the people who once lived her might have used to escape the wars above. However, nobody has found or entered these escape tunnels since the city went lights-out.

Threigze Fionsi Bez truda, ne vitashish i ribku iz pruda.
It was a hard feeling to explain, there was a warm fuzziness that wrapped around her heart like a comfortable blanket, encasing her in the most enticing feeling of happiness. She was finally on a path towards freedom, one that until now had remained an unclear one, perhaps even invisible all things considered. She would never be alone again, even if she decided this life was not the one for her. Above all of that though, she was reunited with one of her best and oldest friends. The young man was the closest thing to what the people on this planet called a brother as she could ever imagine having.
It stood to reason that she would be happy.
This happiness spiked exponentially when she heard that Ilya's mom, a woman she considered one of her, now many, mothers. The biggest difference was this one was her first, and thus easily the most important. That was not to say she ranked them or anything, but that was to say she would clearly have the biggest impact. So to hear that she was around and even looking for potential housing, filled Thre with a great deal of happiness.
Which was promptly followed by a feeling of such dread, she imagined death itself was caressing her spine.
Momushka was going to be so mad at her when she found out that Thre became a Baiter. With a brief shudder, she shook those thoughts off, she would cross that bridge when she got there.
When Ilya suddenly turned and introduced her to the blonde man nearby, she blinked in surprise as his presence finally registered to her. Up to that moment he had been a faceless nobody, just some schmuck standing nearby, to be ignored and walked past when they made the choice to go out on a mission together, something she didn't even think for a moment they weren't going to do. She looked at the guy with a bit of mistrust, nothing against the Baiter, but she had learned to be wary of people who seemed too generous.
A Baiter willing to offer his time to some fresh off the line rookies? Who also happened to be children? Something about that smelled just a little wrong to Thre, and she vowed to keep an eye on the guy.
With that quick introduction over with, leaving her at a disadvantage. He knew her name, but she didn't know his. Ilya seemed to trust him just fine, because he allowed the guy to speak about the mission with only the briefest of interruptions, but, that said, Ilya had a nasty habit of trusting just about anybody he thought was cool, whether they were or not. Both an adorable, and at the same time, dangerous trait. She wouldn't change him for the world, and she would protect him from those that would try to steal that innocence away. No matter who they were. No matter what the cost.
Once they reached the portal room, returning there in Thre's case, she started to feel dizzy again, simply in anticipation of the terrible feeling that was to follow using this terrible/terribly useful device. She watched as Ilya raced forward, her eyes were wide as they stared in rapt horror at what happened next. His body literally disintegrated into nothing, until nothing was left. She swallowed hard, knowing that he was fine, but that she would have to get on it soon. She quickly shoved her way to the front, ready to get it over with, and unwilling to allow the older male any time alone with Ilya.
She hopped onto the portal and closed her eyes, hoping that it might make the terrible experience less so. Unfortunately, this was not the case, if anything, it was worse. Her body was destroyed on a molecular level, and then reconstructed mere moments later at the mission location. Unlike last time, she wasn't able to hold anything back. She reformed, then fell forward, expelling the near nonexistent contents of her stomach, so dizzy she wasn't even able to tell which way was up or down, let alone be able to move.
Luck was on her side, though, for she was carried off to the side, by who she could never tell you, and allowed the time she needed to calm both her spinning mind and churning stomach. "I think I hate those things." She groaned out piteously, her head in her hands, wishing for the first time, and likely not the last, that she could have just walked to this place.

Seeing the two of them together was adorable--hell, it was beyond adorable. But the more that he saw the innocence and childishness in these kids before him, he worried even more. The kids were both baiters, to be sure, and he didn't let his cloudy ideals get in the way of immediately recognising that when he had laid eyes on Thre. They had to be trained if they were going to survive, and they were damned well going to survive. That was certain. He watched as they talked among themselves excitedly, Ilya holding the young girl's hands and hopping up and down. Apparently, if Ilya's information was correct, that was what Katya had been talking about--she was preparing to have this other young woman live with them. So, she wasn't pregnant after all. How sad. But, at the end of the day, there were going to be some young faces around, and it made him feel like the city was more of a home when he could see this sort of juvenile activity. He knew that some people would question the man's fascination or love of children, but there was nothing harmful behind it. He was a father at heart, and his child had been taken--it left him feeling almost without purpose in life at the end of the day, because of it, and being around these young ones, protecting them during their first mission. It gave him the opportunity to feel like a father again--though he knew that was nothing like his role, here. No. He was just a guardian--an overseer--these kids didn't know who he was or what he was, and they had their family. He shook his head as he watched Ilya run forward through the portal. He placed a hand on his head and drew a sharp, worried breath, seeing the other child run ahead too.
'God, I can't wait until they understand just how dangerous outside is. Maybe then they will wait for the more experienced baiters to go through the gate before they charge through without the person there to protect them.''Cute, though, you have to admit.' Acel almost laughed. This A.I. had once been a murdering machine--it had once slaughtered women and children alike, and yet now here it was, residing within a human being and actually seeming to form some sort of human-esque emotions. 'Just because I was a free A.I. before, doesn't mean I am some kind of monster. We are part of an army. We obey orders. No need to be so black and white about it.' Acel felt bad, apologizing for his thoughts, knowing he had offended Midas slightly. The young girl, he could tell, had seen some things. She was wary--watching and being cautious of Acel immediately. He could tell by the way her expressions twisted ever so slightly, and the path her eyes took while she looked him over. She was not fond of him, to be sure. Smart girl. When he came through the other side of the portal, Thre was losing her cookies, and Acel actually laughed as he gabbed her around the waist and picked her up as if she were nothing, moving her over to the side, where she could have some privacy. He heard her groan out her hatred of those machines and Acel laughed a little to himself once again. "Trust me, it doesn't go away for the first few times. But you will get used to it. I threw up every time I went through one of these for the first couple. It's normal...and awful." Acel stated, empathizing with the sick girl. "By the way, it's very nice to meet you, Thre. I understand your wariness of me, but I can promise you I'm not here to hurt or hinder you in any way. Just to make sure you're both safe...I have a little bit of an issue, I guess you could say, with the idea of kids getting hurt. But, either way, I understand if it takes you a while to trust that. But, either way, my name's Acel." He stated, when she was finished and had returned to them, holding his hand out toward the girl for a shake.
It was at this time that he realized how absurdly hot it was. He had probably been there for all of thirty seconds by this point and he was already beginning to sweat. The heat beamed down on them mercilessly, and he turned around, taking in his surroundings entirely. There were corpses everywhere in the streets. Cars parked all over the place--in the middle of the road, like time had just stopped here in the middle of everyone's days and they had all just merely died--it made no sense. Skeletons littered the sidewalks, vehicles, and shops equally, and they all seemed in the middle of something. the buildings were all partially eroding from sand being battered against them by the wind, peeling the stone apart slowly, but surely, and Acel drew a deep breath as he looked through the small city's streets for any sign of danger. "Alright, so I am going to need to find some of those crystals that scientist was talking about. Apparently they are blue crystals that were popular in this area for earrings. So, I know it might be a little disturbing, but we've got to search these corpses, or around their heads at least, to see if we can't find some of them, alright. Just...please, stay close. I know you had a taste of combat with the A.I. in your H.A.L.F exams...but they are much stronger out here. Much, much stronger." Acel stated, matter of factly as he strolled down the scorching street. He stopped and knelt down by one of many skeletons, immediately noticing the sapphire glint as he picked up the blue stone and looked at it with a smile. Perhaps it wouldn't be all too hard to get a couple hands full of them.

Ilya couldn’t be more excited for the task ahead of him. They were to look around this strange desert place for some strange blue crystals, then they were gonna be out. Simple enough, right? But the moment he walked out of the portal, the small child deflated. It was so hot here! What was it, over forty-five degrees celsius? That’s just ridiculous. Already, the poor kid who was so acclimated to the cold was sweating profusely. It wasn’t a feeling he much liked. Lucky for him, however, he was able to take off that evil overshirt he was wearing to reveal a deep red tank top. Soon after this, Thre popped through the portal as well, losing her lunch only seconds afterwards. Ilya couldn’t help but laugh a little. He felt bad, for sure, and made sure to walk over to her and make sure her hair was out of her face, but it was at least somewhat amusing that she would just lose it like that. He also was pretty sure he had never seen her throw up before, so that was pretty funny too.
However, when she finally recovered and stood up, Ilya took a good long look around the Atacama Ruins. Acel was there, now, and had explained that it was actually perfectly normal to throw up like that after portaling. Ilya wondered why it didn’t bother him, if only for a moment. He felt strange, but it wasn’t to the point of throwing up. Just… Really off. He shrugged, though, not caring too much for the thought after Acel started explaining the point of the mission. Find those weird blue crystal things that will allow him to do his weird thing. Got it. So, when Acel moved forward through the ruins, so did he. It was still so hot that he felt as if he was burning, though, and Ilya almost wanted to complain about it. Or rather, he did complain about it. ”It’s too hot. I feel like I’m going to melt!” he said, whining ever so slightly. And he really did feel as if he was about to melt. Who let a place get so high up in temperature? Who did that? Who wanted that?
But the rest of the place wasn’t much of a piece of cake, either. As he looked on, he began to realize that the streets were littered with corpses, unsuspecting cadavers who seemed to be totally unaware that they were dead at all. Ilya’s brow furrowed as he looked on, scanning the city streets which were full of all of the average stores and businesses that would be there. Except… All of the citizens were already dead. Still attempting to go about their business like it was their usual routine. While Ilya had seen a dead body before, this was unusual. There was no struggle involved, they just laid down and died, accepting their fate like it was just another Tuesday. Before Acel could say anything about examining the bodies, Ilya walked up to one and turned the head over, looking to see if their was any damage done to it. As expected, there wasn’t much at all, only simple damage done to the skull after falling and erosion over time. It was so… odd. He couldn’t place it. It just didn’t feel right. However, they did have a job to do, so he continued to examine the body to find a crystal. Unfortunately, there was none on this particular one. But with that came the luck that there were at least a couple thousand bodies within their range of sight. Plenty of bodies to check, plenty of crystals to find.
So, as he was told, he continued to look over the dead bodies, turning a few of them over to check if they carried their quest item. He did stay close, but he couldn’t help but wander a little bit. He stayed within range of Acel, sure, but he couldn’t help but look into the stores that lined the street, and inside some of the cars that remained on the street. He was a curious little fella, one that had a strange incessant need to get into things. He squished his face against one of the panes of glass that wasn’t broken, looking inside to see what it was that they sold. As luck would have it, it was a jewelry store. Squinting his eyes, he scanned the room, checking to see if there was anything of worth inside. It was dark on the inside of the little shop, very dimly lit with only a barest amount of light shining through. However, he could see some glinting objects inside which looked like they were the size and shape of the crystals they were looking for.
Immediately, Ilya looked for a way inside. He knew it was dangerous, but he felt the need to get inside the building, a pull that he couldn’t shake off in the slightest. First, he checked to see if the doors were open, pulling on the handles of the door. It didn’t open, but it wasn’t locked in any fancy sort of way. So, Ilya looked around at the bodies on the ground, shuffling through each body until he found a few keys. He had about five from several different people, all of different shapes and sizes. To test them, he placed each key into the lock to see if it would work. After going through a couple keys, and getting mildly frustrated, Ilya found the one that would open the door, pulling it open now with no issue.
Inside, it was a simple jewlery store, but the darkness that surrounded him and the contents made the shop creepy. It was dusty and aged, though nothing was broken, nor was anything looted. To him, this was surprising, but Gavriil soon explained that there wouldn’t be much need for an AI to take anything, nor did any human passing through the area. Precious jewels and gems were no longer precious to anyone. Oddly, this made Ilya feel somewhat sad. To have their material worth decline so hard because of all of this, it made him feel bad. However, they did hit the absolute jackpot of these crystal things. Looking them over, Ilya walked out of the store to call for the two people who had came on the mission with him, asking them to come over and look at the crystals he had found. He was absolutely sure that they were the real deal, but he wanted them to see just how many there were, and to help carry them out. There were so many of them, he honestly didn’t think he could carry them all by himself.

Threigze Fionsi Bez truda, ne vitashish i ribku iz pruda.
The spinning in her head was terrible, so bad she was afraid she might just pass out. The world beneath her body was solid, steady, but everything from the ground up was spinning. If she closed her eyes she was spinning in spot, making so she couldn't even think about standing up. With her eyes open everything was swaying back and forth, and nothing was clear. It took a little bit, way longer than she would have wanted it too, but soon she was able to look at the world without worrying about it shifting before her eyes. Once that was cleared up she rose to her feet, ready to go on this mission.
She glanced towards the guy when he started talking, her brows furrowing in confusion. Had she given him the misconception she wanted to talk to him? She didn't even like the guy. When he started talking about the fact that he understood how she felt, she immediately felt more red flags go off. This guy was that good at reading people? She had hardly gave way to her mistrust, and somehow this guy was able to pick up on it with ease. This meant one thing, this guy had to be a snake in the grass.
She trusted him even less now, and when he offered her his hand she stared at it for a moment, before looking up at him with narrowed eyes. "I'm not worried about you." The response was sassy, and biting, as if she was offended by his assumptions and wanted to ensure he was aware of this fact. She turned away from him, flipping her hair over her shoulder towards him, in that 'I'm finished with you' fashion, followed by a 'humph.'
After giving Acel a piece of her mind, she set off after Ilya, her pace sped up enough she would close the distance swiftly, at which point she would shoot a pointed glance back at Acel, making it quite apparent who she actually cared about. Her gaze then swiftly turned towards the city and she shivered. It looked so desolate, so empty, even from here. The only other places like this she had seen were bustling and loud, this one was empty and quiet. It was rather unsettling, sending goosebumps right up her arm.
As they neared the actual entrance to the city, the sight that greeted her caused her stomach to twist up into knots, for a completely different reason. Everywhere was dead bodies, abandoned cars, empty stores. The whole city spoke of, wreaked of death. It lingered in the air, like the very hand of death was placed on the back of your neck. Everywhere she looked, no matter where her eyes landed, there was death. It caused a queasy feeling inside her chest, and chills to run up and down her spine like ice cold fingers. It was terrible.
She heard the guy explain the mission and she turned to look at him incredulously. They had to search these dead bodies?! She had never actually seen one before, having absorbed them into her own body for future use, so the sight of so many in one place naturally crawled right under her skin like some kind of bug, and started moving around. Now to hear she would have to touch them? Gross! Disgusting! She refused!
As she followed behind Ilya she kept her arms close to her chest, flinching away from everybody that got closer than a foot away from her body. So caught up in keeping her body from touching any of the other bodies, she didn't notice that Ilya had wandered off in a different direction, or that she had also wandered away from the group as well.
On this journey down the street, trying to stay inside her bubble, she noticed a glint from the sun, which caught her attention immediately. Getting closer she recoiled when she realized that it was on the finger of one of the many bodies in the area. She cautiously reached forward and grabbed the ring with the barest tips of her fingers to try and pull it off. It proved to be more difficult than she would have imagined, causing her tugging to increase in intensity, pulling harder and harder until finally, the ring snapped the bone, bringing the finger with it. Immediately Thre dropped it on the ground and started wiping her hands off on her shirt furiously.
Unfortunately, she lost her footing and fell into the door. She screamed as she threw herself away, but her jacket caught the edge of the door, wrenching it open with a rusty screech. When all was said and done, Thre was laying on her back on the ground, looking up at the empty face of a corpse. The scream that left her lips was so much more high pitched than the one that came before it, and the only sight that greeted anyone from that direction was her sprinting full speed from that area, back to the last place saw Ilya.
She looked around when she finally calmed down and caught her breath, hoping no one heard or noticed that incredibly embarrassing event in her life. When she didn't immediately see any signs of him, her mind quickly turned to the dark things she would do, most of which involved her new Gatling guns and Acel's face.
Luck finally decided to smile on her, and she heard the voice of her friend come from a little distance away. Thre wasted no further time in racing over in that direction, attempting to make herself look as presentable as possible, despite the dust that covered the front of her shirt/jacket from the door and the corpse. When she saw that he was unharmed, she smiled happily, banishing all thoughts of dismembering Acel with bullets out of her mind, and regrouped with her friend, who appeared to have found what they came here to find. "Good job Tiny!" She said as she patted his back with a grin. Perfect. This meant they could leave this mission, and drop the snake.

Acel's eyes seemed static, but his mind analysed the city that he could see constantly. Any sign of A.I. activity and he would leap into action...but so far it seemed rather dead. This...was a good thing, but simultaneously not. He wanted to take Ilya out here to show him what battle was like in the real world...they might get the idea that the outside world was some sort of easy cake-walk if they didn't actually experience danger. He was so torn between himself as a father and himself as a baiter. One half of him wanted to shield them from all danger--the other half knew that he could not. He would only serve to hinder them in that case. When he had spoken to Thre, the girl made a backhanded comment at him and walked away with the teenage attitude that would have won her awards in high school. She didn't trust him--that much was honest. He was a stranger to her, someone that did not know who he was, or why he was with Ilya. She was his friend, and as such, she didn't want Ilya being around anyone who might harm him--it made sense. He had tried to ease her worry, by speaking to her about her uneasiness, but he had just made it worse instead. He didn't know how to deal with teenagers, his daughter had only made it to the toddler stages. He had no idea how to react to a sassy, pubescent girl. He just decided it was best to shrug it off and allow them to do their own thing. He would obviously supervise it, but he would let them have their own time. He didn't need to be hanging around too closely...he wasn't their parent or anything like that. He shouldn't have even taken this mission with them in the first place. Maybe she was right to think he was weird...or untrustworthy. He was escorting a child into the outside world--an extremely dangerous place--alone. He would look strange to most people, likely, and he bit his lip, the idea that people might think those awful things about him was unfathomable to him. Suddenly his heart sank--he had tried to do something good, but he only made himself look the fool once again. Perhaps he really was just stupid.
Stupid or not though, Acel knew that he would rather they have some sort of guardian--and to be looked at as a weirdo, than for them to have come out here alone and been slaughtered. He did what he thought was right, and he couldn't necessarily knock himself for that. But, either way, Ilya had run off on his own, and Thre had as well. He knew where they were, keeping track of them diligently, but he did not intrude on their space. When Thre fell through the door of one of the shops, she screamed, and every fiber of his being wanted him to run to her, then, but he sensed her instead, and he knew that she was okay--that nobody else was there. She had just startled herself. At the same time, he noticed Ilya rummaging through bodies, and then going off into a store. Thre was headed his way as he called out for them to join him, and Acel followed. He kept his distance, not bothering to comment on the scream, as he knew everything had been fine. Ilya seemed rather excited, and when Acel looked to see what he had discovered, Thre following him in first. The girl had been frantically running from where she had fallen, and she seemed panicked when she didn't find Ilya immediately. She was extremely protective over the boy--this much was blatantly obvious, and made her distaste for Acel make that much more sense. He couldn't blame her anymore, for the way she acted toward him and he began to understand her character more and more. As much as she didn't like him, right now, he certainly liked her. She would help keep Ilya safe. They would help each other grow, and they would get strong together--Ilya likely wouldn't need to worry about Acel being around after this mission. It was good to have met the boy, though.
Acel walked into the shop to see Ilya's findings, and the boy excitedly ushered him toward the jewels, showing him the display cases with plenty of the popular jewels lining the products within. Acel looked at the gleaming rows and he nodded to Ilya with a grin. "Alright! Good job, Ilya. I didn't even think to look for a jewellery store like this...shows how the most obvious solution can be missed if you're thinking too hard." He said with a light chuckle as he gazed around the jewellery store. "Okay, you guys start piling that stuff together, if you can separate out the blue gems that we need, then I will look around the shop for a bag to carry them in." Acel stated with a nod as he turned and looked around the shop, concentrating as he walked to the back of the store, putting distance between himself and the kids and analysing their surroundings to search for some sort of bag. "Hey, Acel...something's not right...this place doesn't feel...dead. Something's off.""Don't worry so much, Midas. If anything were here, we'd be able to sense it, right? We're alone. We're safe...for now. Just keep your eyes open and make sure you tell me if anything is up." It didn't take him long to find something to carry the jewels in. They had loads of velvet bags behind the counter--incredibly soft to the touch, and he grabbed two of them, making his way back to the counter, where Thre and Ilya had been separating the proper gems and they began loading them into the bags. It was then that something caught Acel's attention that he hadn't noticed before, as he had strained himself since Midas' warning to examine things a little closer. There was a live wire, just at the corner of the door frame on the way in, leading down through the floor and headed to the back office. A silent alarm--triggered when the door had been open and a code had not been punched into the management's alarm panel in time. The silent alarm had caused the alarm system to become active--an electrical beacon in an otherwise dead area. It was too late. He turned to Ilya and Thre immediately, the look on his face deadly serious. He was not messing around. "There's a problem, you two. And for the love of god, please don't get excited about it. When you entered this store, you set off an alarm. The alarm is officially blasting an electric signal, and that has likely been going off for at least a few minutes, now. Any A.I. in this area will be on the way--they know we're here. We could be lucky, if there aren't--"
He immediately stopped talking as his sensors all began to pick up on the movement from down the street. A team of them were on the way...three...no...four of them. He blasted through the door of the jewellery store, leaving the bags of jewels on the counter--completely forgetting about the purpose of their mission here. All that mattered now was keeping them safe. As long as he could make sure their Code Cores were not damaged--even if they died they would be safe. They would respawn in B.A.I.T.R HQ. This was his goal...because as soon as he saw the four A.I. trampling down the street, Acel knew these kids were dead...he knew that he couldn't defend them from so many at the same time, without them taking any damage at all. The odds were too slim...but that didn't mean he wouldn't challenge them. He would fight the gods themselves if he had to. He would let these enemies tear his body down to pieces...if it meant ensuring these kids lived. His hands flashed to his sword holsters and he drew the blades--entering a combat stance. "Stay behind me as much as you possibly can. Like I said, you have no idea how strong these enemies are.""Yeah, one of them is stronger than you are.""Well, they don't need to know that, now do they? Let's just try our best to keep them from panicking. Just...help me out here, okay? This is going to be even harder than our last fight."

Threigze Fionsi Bez truda, ne vitashish i ribku iz pruda.
Initiative
She had to admit to a certain level of surprise when the guy offered to leave her the job paired with Ilya. She had half expected him to try to pull something sneaky, the slithering serpent that he was. No, instead he went off to do the job that separated him from them, even if only by a small distance, allowing Thre the position closest to her friend, and naturally the best place to protect him from. Once she felt he was a far enough distance away, she set about the task at hand. Not for the guy, no, to hell with him, instead she did it for Ilya, because he clearly wanted to help.
As her and Ilya went about their job, keeping quiet for obvious reasons, she noticed a small ring, silver in color, with a red gem as the focus piece. The gem was tiny, but it caught the light just right and looked like it was on fire. She immediately rose to her feet and, with a little effort, slipped it onto her necklace, upon which there were four other small things. The ring that now housed her A.I., a tooth from a bear held in place by a piece of leather, a chunk of inconspicuous rock, and a little piece of wood with four letters carved into it with a little '+' sign between them. Each item represented something in her life that had a significant impact on it, this one would represent her start into this new world.
Once it was settled into place, she slipped the necklace back on and under her shirt, before stepping back to work, not thinking anything of it. This place was dead, and gone, who was gonna miss this one little crystal?
Suddenly the atmosphere in the room got tense, as Acel turned towards them in all seriousness, informing them that basically things just got real. Immediately she felt a thrill of excitement enter her body. Her first mission out, and she was about to fight? It sounded almost too good to be true. A feeling of wariness blinked through her mind, and she recognized the source immediately. "Summer? What's wrong?" She asked, unaware of the fact that she could simply think her questions to her friend.
' Just be careful.'
The worry in Summer's voice caused Thre to smile, and puff up her chest a bit. "Not to worry! I'll be fine. I've fought way worse that these things before." She declared with an utmost confidence in her voice, clearly not even the little bit worried or phased at the prospect of upcoming combat, totally unaware of what was about to come, despite the fight she had just recently with the very core she had inside her.
Her bravado had her following Acel out of the room fearlessly, offering an encouraging smile to Ilya, a little worried about him. However, he had survived the same test she had, so he clearly knew what he was doing, she had to trust in that. This wouldn't be like in the labs, she wouldn't be able to come running all hero style, and admittedly that thought scared her more than the upcoming fight.
Reality came crashing down around her like a meteorite when she saw the sheer number of enemies coming at them, all of various forms and sizes. She hoped that they would all have some form of distaste for the blonde in the front, and just brutally maul him while she rained death upon them with her new guns. However pleasant that thoughts might be, she knew it wouldn't be the case. These things looked like monsters, and monsters usually went for the weak looking ones first to pick them off.
'Your armor!'
Thre didn't think twice once that suggestion was offered to her, and within a surprisingly short period of time, her body was covered in an obsidian like suit of armor, everything from her hair down to her feet were covered, and over her face was a formless orb. She would never get used to how fast this was now, or how much fuller it was. Before she would barely be able to cover half her body, and now her whole body was defended. For now, she would wait on morphing out one of her weapons, to see what kind of storm was coming her way and be able to respond accordingly.

Three AI’s stalked down an empty, deserted street, scoping the area for potential humans to destroy, maim, kill, or take control of. The obvious leader of the group was a Jailer AI, one who walked in front of the group with dignity and poise that was deserving of only the finest English Gents of the century. The AI walked ahead of the others, keeping a watchful eye out for anything out of the ordinary. So far, it was quiet, and none of the others had much to worry about. Nothing was amiss, however, and the Jailer decided it might be high time they traveled back to their little hide away when he heard something a bit strange… A silent alarm. It wasn’t too noticable, but all of the AI’s that were close by were able to hear it, no… Feel it. It was a strange feeling, but it did mean that people were in the area.
The Jailer requested that everyone stop, raising a hand in signal. Of course, everyone listened to it, coming to a halt behind it, as they were told. The Jailer paused, zoning in on where the epicenter of the alarm was. It didn’t take long, and soon they were on their way again, quickly making their way to where they needed to be. And it wasn’t far, as soon they were able to see three people raiding a jewelry shop for some sort of crystals, for reasons that would remain their own. The Jailer wasn’t much happy about them stealing things from its home, walking right up behind them and simply initiating conversation between the obviously strongest one and itself. “Excuse me, old chap, but I would prefer it if you were not stealing from a store that I would consider part of my territory.” The Jailers voice was posh, very british in nature with a strong leaning to being male. It was a strange way for an AI to sound, but it regarded itself highly, and rather liked its voice, thank you very much. “However, since you are here, I would kindly like to offer you a duel. I would rather kill you fairly, of course. I’m not a barbarian.” It made a side glance to one of its companions, the Harbinger who was clearly drooling over its chance to kill children. The Jailer perfectly meant to sound condescending, as it did in fact think it better than, well, anyone there, to be perfectly straight.

The Harbenger tried to suppress its giggles and joy. Oh ho ho! There were children afoot! And soon, those children would be aaaallll over its foot! Oh, how it wanted to drool, to laugh, to stomp its feet! As it walked, the two other companions choosing to ignore just how crazy the Harbinger was. But that only excited it more. There were three there, ready for a kill! Ready for it to play one of those many children's games that it heard about with those beautiful kids. Not while the kids were alive, but with them none the less. ‘Oh, what should I play first’, it thought jovaly. ‘Hopscotch? Jump rope? Duck duck goose? Hide n Seek? Ohhhhh the possibilities were endless!’ It shook in anticipation, eyes dashing between the little girl and the little boy. Where would it start?! Who would be its first target to smash into the ground? Who would become the next coat of paint on its body?
Again, it shivered in anticipation. It would go for the girl first, of course. Nothing felt better than demolishing an adorable little girl, one who was just ripe for the picking. It watched her, staring at her with a great amount of desire. It wanted to maim and crush and kill, dowsing it body in her glorious and innocent blood. It giggled again, ready. Ready for the Jailer to initiate combat.

While the Harbinger shuttered, and the Jailer talked, the Quazzar was simply watching. It wasn’t excited, it wasn’t shuttering, and it wasn’t giggling. No, it was simple waiting and watching, curious and thinking. It was thinking about that boy, thinking about being… Nauuuuuughty.
His hair was beautiful. White and pure, He looked like freshly fallen snow, strange and obscure. Pretty, though the boy still looked unsure. It made the Quazzar feel like doing something very … Nauuuuuughty.
To melt this child’s head with spit… That’s what it wanted, to watch it split To watch the boys head split open, to make the poor boy submit. It felt wonderful to think this, to imagine it, to feel … Nauuuuuughty.
It would gets its chance, to do its dirty deed. It could already see his blood pool like spilt mead. It wouldn’t take long to make the child bleed, This was good. Plenty of time to be fully… Nauuuuuughty.

Finally, the Turbine Beetle had its chance! It hid in another room, waiting for it’s moment to come out, surprising them in an attack. It jittered and shook in excitement, ready to get the jump on the people it heard through the walls. Tracking their movements, it stalked as best as it could, keeping silently through the shadows. But, oh good lord was it excited! That was it. It couldn’t take it anymore. It heard kids on the other side, along side an adult, likely someone who was escorting them. Still, it couldn’t pass up the opportunity to decimate these fools. The AI backed up, scurrying along the floor to distance itself from the wall, then readied itself. It had to be ready. The ultimate display of MANLINESS was about of occur before their very eyes, They would be enthralled by its display, absolutely impressed by it’s madness… Yes, it would finally be able to display just how amazing it was by sheer force of will!
The Turbine Beetle ran forward, running directly at the wall. It was ready, oh so ready! It launched itself at the wall, breaking through it with such ease and excitement that it had to scream, let the world know that it was there and ready! “EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED IN THE KINGDOM OF MADNESS!! OHHHHH YEEEAAAHHHHH!!!!” It yelled, scampering excitedly behind the group of humans. Oh, and there was another group of AI’s ready and waiting to attack as well! Good! It was able to display its amazing manliness to them as well! “THE MADNESS IS RUNNIN’ WIIIILD!” It yelled again, unable to help itself. Oh, this was going to be the absolute best fight possible. The Jailer gave the man the opportunity to accept his offer, waiting a very fair period of time. Within this time period, he was not idle, turning to the A.I.s that followed him, or as he preferred to call them, his servants. After all, a fine, upstanding aristocrat like himself deserved to be pampered. He swiftly indicated that the two most insane in his group go about getting the children they so desired. "And you shall be my second." He said to the Turbine Beetle, whom responded with one of its obnoxious catch phrases.
The Jailer started massaging the area between his eyes, not because it would really do anything, but because no other gesture could better express what he was feeling. "Do you see what I reduced to mingling with? These common barbarian types are everywhere. What I wouldn't give for an intelligence that can match my own." He said in a very exasperated tone, gesturing casually at the cores that were already setting off to do his bidding. "Still, they are terribly useful."
He turned his full attention to the tallest, and easily the strongest of the three. He shifted his stance and a walking cane, that had likely been missed in the chaos of so many opponents appearing, came to the front of his body like a fencer of old. As if that wasn't telling enough, his body shifted so it was facing the chosen Baiter from the side of his body, a common fencing position.
It stood that way for a short period of time, ready for anything, when a timer went off in its head, and the courtesy period of time was over. "Time's up old boy. Do try to keep up." He said in a joyfully condescending way, as it flashed forward rather quickly. It lashed out a few times, all feints, just to test the guard of his opponent. Finally, after a few attacks in, it thrust forward, aiming to disable one of this Baiters arms with the strike.

It was positively jittery with excitement, its body was bursting with energy, begging to be released. It was just bursting with manliness! The Jailer called them to a halt, but damn did it want to ignore that order! It wanted so bad rush in and do some damage, but a man followed orders. He really hoped he could let his madness run wild! Its body shifted from side to side as it tried hard to not give into the urges to just let loose. How could it show off its manliness if it had to stay back?!
Then the Jailer informed it that it was to be his second, the one who stayed back and only took over when the Jailer could not continue. What?! What kind of position was that?! Madness could not spread if it was held back! This would not do! This was just not manly! It decided to hell with the consequences! It had to show off how awesome it was or it would explode! "I'm the tower of power!" It began in its deep gravelly voice, raising up on its four back legs to flex with its front two, like a body builder, as if showing off its muscles despite it had an exoskeleton.
"Too sweet to be sour!" It said while flexing one more time, before it dropped down to all six legs and swiftly scuttled off to the nearest building. "I'm funky like a monkey!" It called out as it started climbing up the side of the building, rapidly reaching the top as fast as he might of traversing a flat horizontal surface. Standing on the top he looked down at the fight, his chest puffed out as if presented proudly, clearly pleased with himself.
"Sky's the limit!"
It shouted as it ran backwards on the building, to gain some distance. It then shot forward, and leaped off the roof, intent on landing on the blonde Baiter with every ounce of its body. "And space is the place! OOOOHHH YEEAAAHH!!" It shouted out these last words as it spread its body wide to ensure it covered as much area as possible, giving it the highest chance at landing the hit.

Things were not looking good. These monsters were all powerful looking as far as she was concerned, and the anxiousness she was feeling in the back of her mind from Summer was not helping matters any. She peaked over at Ilya to see if he was feeling any of the worry she was feeling, and was proud to see only determination in his eyes. Whether he was ignoring the thoughts of death, or he honestly wasn't affected by them, she wouldn't know, but she felt glad to know he was strong enough to fight. Her unseen eyes shifted over to the man named Acel, and wondered what he might be thinking as she looked at his back.
These thoughts died when she got an even better look at their soon to be opponents. Two of them looked at herself and Ilya with sick looks of pleasure, something she was unfortunately very used too, meaning they rolled off her shoulders like water off a duck.
It was then that the Jailer, their obvious leader, ordered about his little crew. That b*****d! He sent the two psychos after her and Ilya, while taking on the snake man all by himself. Could things have gotten any worse? She looked at the scarier looking one, the one with knives for fingers, and decided that she would take the initiative, and not allow them to pick their targets. A monster with claws? It was like they were a fight meant to happen. If she happened to keep him from going after Ilya, well, that was just a good thing right?
She pulled up her arm and without thought, transformed her arm into the Gatling gun, her arm up to her elbow turning into a cylinder, within which six smaller cylinders formed inside the boundaries, before the whole thing was encompassed by the black flesh, turning it into a seamless arm up to the gun on the front. She pulled up her weapon, grabbed it with her only remaining hand, aimed it at the Harbinger, and let loose. The bullets whizzed through the air rapidly, until within just a brief moment she had loosed almost thirty bullets.
It was then she realized she was still transformed into her armor. This was a startling realization, because never before had she been able to have her armor and a weapon up. Who knew having a core in her body allowed her such fine control? She couldn't wait to see what would happen when she starts having more cores. This also caused her to desire to test things out, which was why her other arm was then lifted and changed into a set of blades, leaving her with a gun arm, an arm with long machete like bladed claws, and a body covered in her black armor.
She looked ******** cool.

It was the boy’s first real fight. First fight where his life was on the line, first fight where he had to worry about getting hurt. Sure, the fight with Gavriil was a risk, and there was a very high chance that he could have died, but he didn’t. He never even felt the possibility of being hurt. Now? He was being swarmed. There were more enemies than allies, and they all felt so much stronger than Gavriil could have even warned him about. Ilya’s first instinct was to back up, but the moment he moved his foot, Gavriil, his angel, spoke up. ’Don’t. The Quazzar has its eyes on you, and it will sense your fear. The moment you step back will be the moment of your demise. Step forward and attack the Quazzar first. I believe in you.’
Ilya took a deep breath and nodded. Gavriil was right. He had to grow up and face these fears, especially since he would have to be fighting these monsters for the rest of his life. Ilya gripped his yoyo in his small hands, eyes flicking to what the others were doing in the battle. Unfortunately, A few of the AI’s got the jump on Acel, the Jailer and the Beetle rushing him in an attack that seemed to be somewhat overwhelming. Thre, however, was taking the initiative in the fight. The girl covered her entire body in plate armour, black as ebony and absolutely bad a**. Her arm even turned into a gatling gun, her weapon of choice in their first battle. It actually inspired him. She was someone who was running, though from what he wasn’t quite sure, but she was still facing these enemies before them with such incredible fierceness that he had to match it with that same feeling, with the same ferociousness that he showed with Gavriil. He had to make his angel, his God given strength, proud.
So, gripping his yoyo, Ilya set a firm resolve in his heart and in his eyes. This is the fight that will determine what he was made of, and what he was going to do with his life afterwards. If he could stand up and fight these things with no fear… Then he might just be able to win. Even if this one wasn’t, the next one would be. And the next, and the next… And every single one after that. Ilya sprang forward, letting his hardened yoyo fly forward to the Quazzar at alarming speeds, at least for him. This was a new level of power for him, a new level of ability. He could do it. All he had to do was let his yoyo fly.
And that was exactly what he did. The yoyo flew towards the Quazzar, moving at high speeds. Ilya’s control over the yoyo made it possible to do many things with it, but even now he didn’t have much of the physical prowess he aimed for. But, that would come in time. Right now, he just had to focus on sending the yoyo right where he wanted it to be. He centered the attack to the Quazzars face, aiming to make a big hit before the thing could even move. Hopefully, Ilya would be able to take the thing out, even.

Acel's body was in a state of panic as he stood there--though he did not allow his face to show his absolute terror. These enemies that were standing before them were nothing to joke around with. They were the real deal--some of them were weak enough, to be sure, but any of them had the ability to kill these kids...and two of them were nearly licking their lips at the opportunity to do so. This was not going to be a pretty sight--it was not going to end well. These kids were going to be torn to--"If you even finish that thought, Acel, I am going to put my paw up your candy a**. Stop being such a pansy, damnit. You're stronger than that. You got that kid out of the s**t situation he was in before, didn't you? You have face these bastards how many times? How many have you beaten? How many people have you sacrificed yourself to save? You've got this. Now calm down and ******** win." Acel swallowed hard at the sound of it but he weakly nodded to himself as he looked ahead. He had to. He had no other choice. Acel immediately began to transmit, through thought, exactly what he wanted to do in this battle, to Midas. He was going to make it work--he had to. His mind was working furiously--analysing hundreds upon thousands of possible methods of striking instantaneously, and picking out of them the one with the highest possibility of winning. He grinned as he settled on a path--the code mind he worked within was enough to translate all of these possibilities into the best route, and he was learning to better utilize the traits of this strange personality that inhabited his mind. There was something wrong with him--something different...but he didn't have to write that off as a bad thing. Sure, he needed to suppress it. From what Midas had to say, he wasn't exactly the nicest person when he had lost control. But he was granted abilities that no regular human being had, and damnit he was going to use those abilities.
He took a deep breath as the Turbine Beetle began to scream and shout random things, and he couldn't help being rather confused about this "kingdom of madness" the thing spoke of. Well, the world was pretty damn mad, that was true. It was then that the strange A.I. in the top-hat and cane moved forward and spoke. To be completely honest, Acel was taken aback by the tone in the Jailer's voice. He spoke of the rabble that he worked beside, and the fact that he wished he could find one with intellect to match its own. When it spoke of how useful they could be, however, Acel narrowed its eyes. It was not remorseful for the lives it took--it was not remorseful for the things that it did or that it commanded others to do. It would learn, however...it would learn what true regret was. It sent the other two A.I. towards the kids, and it as well as the Turbine Beetle were to be Acel's opponents. Everything in him told him to protect these kids--everything in him told him to dive in front of the enemies and save them--but it was not possible. He knew that he could not avoid the horrible truth. He was being targeted by these A.I.--he had no time or ability to defend for the kids before their enemies were on them. Hell, the other two hadn't even gone AFTER the kids yet. He had to let them fight--he had to let them learn. Katya was going to be furious if Acel let them get hurt...but they would never grow to be strong, capable baiters if they did not get hurt. If they did not learn to fight honestly against their foes, they would not survive...and true survival was the real point of it all. Not to keep them from harm--but to ready them to protect what mattered--their code cores. If they died, well, they would come back...they would live...they had already earned that right. But if they had their code cores destroyed and were murdered...that was different. Acel would never allow it.
The kids were fast--he had to admit. Both of them were getting ready before Acel could even react to the fact that this was really happening. Thre was the first one, and when she began to change, Acel couldn't believe what he saw. Her body was being...engulfed by some sort of obsidian armour. It was black and it completely covered her body. He had never seen a code core like that, but he was instantly sure that this young woman was going to be the most famous, coolest, badass baiter ever with a code core like that. Acel needed to think of something that would make him look like a super-hero too. But, it didn't stop there. Her arm slowly morphed into a god damn MACHINE GUN. How could she hold so much power so young? She hadn't even UPGRADED her code core yet...how could she possibly use it to such incredible efficiency? Then there was Ilya. The young boy moved back a fraction, seeming to hesitate, and Acel almost said something to bolster the child--make him less afraid...but he did it all by himself, and he felt pride swell in his chest. He was proud that the boy had made such a step for himself. He had decided to fight for himself and never to back down. He had made a choice that was hard for even grown men, and then they entered the fray together, Ilya making the first strike at the Quazzar, and then Thre blasting her machine gun toward the Harbinger. He had to ask her about that when this was over. For real.
The Jailer said something about time being up, and he immediately snapped his attention to the cane-wielding b*****d. It burst forward with a quick flourish, stabbing at Acel time after time, but each of the attacks was met by a quick deflection--though there were a few Acel did not deflect, but the blows still managed to miss...they were feints. His eyes tracked the blade as it was stabbed toward him and he narrowed his eyes as he looked at the thing really push itself into the last attack, suddenly lunging forward with great force. The real strike came directly for Acel's arm, right at the middle of his bicep. Acel immediately spun his body to the side, completely avoiding the stab and bringing his fist down on the wrist of the Jailer to knock the blade arm down with force--a show of his determination and a mockery of the Jailer's speed. "Will, do, good sir. But please...try to keep up yourself. Or you just might find yourself looking like that guy." Acel stated, pointing his thumb over his shoulder at the Turbine Beetle that was scurrying around screaming before it jumped from the top of the building. This, however, probably wouldn't make much sense to the Jailer. Not yet. But as the Turbine Beetle jumped down toward him, Acel's entire body entered a rigid state of pure anticipation and he unleashed hell moments later. As the Turbine Beetle fell, Acel did not need a fancy dodge in order to bring the thing down. No...he needed a counter-attack. It was time to implement the first stage of his battle plan. Kill the Turbine Beetle--take control of it. As it fell toward him, the words 'Oh Yeah' echoed maddeningly in his head and his eye twitched as he couldn't get the words to stop echoing--repeating themselves over and over. But, his arm flashed upwards, his sword being drawn instantly, his opposite arm following suit as the blades both came up in a cross slash with blinding speed, directly for the central mass of the b*****d's body. If the attacks hurt, it would not only cut it, but knock it up into the air just a small bit further, giving Acel the time to prepare and spin, aiming a vicious kick toward it that would hopefully send the thing rocketing into a flagpole that stuck off the side of a building. If it landed, it would skewer the b*****d on the post, and he would be free to absorb it into his sword. If the cross-slash, however, completely missed, and the thing escaped the attack, landing on the ground, Acel would merely flip his sword grip backwards and drive the blade down toward it, hoping to stab it through the body and into the ground. "Be safe, you two. I can't protect you right now. You have to do it on your own. Those two A.I. seem dangerous...but you can do it. I believe you've both got enough attitude to fight them with at least just that." Acel stated, though the jest hung from his voice confidently, and easy to pick up. Thre would know he was talking about her, certainly, and if not...well...sometimes people just didn't get your jokes. It happens.

OOC: Just remember, John, Thre's turn is after the Jailer and before the Turbine Beetle. Not the Turbine Beetle and then Thre. ;P

It was waiting...too long. It was waiting and waiting, and the Jailer was talking and talking and he just...he just wouldn't get on with it for ******** sakes! Its body shook once more with anticipation, smoke rising from its mouth in plumes of black ink. It shifted its weight, stepping (half stomping) on the ground one foot than the other, unable to contain itself. It had almost forgotten how juicy children were--how easily their bones broke. It loved it when they cried. It didn't like screams of pain...those were boring. It liked the truly sad, afraid, and despairing cries of children before it killed them. It was a shame their parents weren't around. It would have loved to murder the parents in front of the kids to hear them cry a little more...then, when the cries fell on unsatisfied ears, it would be able to lop off the tops of their skulls, enough to sever the brain in two, and drink from the chalice of eternal youth! It would bathe itself in their essence and become GOD. It cringed, even upon thinking this, and it looked around as if anyone might be watching before it giggled to itself, watching the little, tasty treat carefully as she began to...transform. The transformation enveloped her body completely, and fire erupted from its mouth as it screamed to the sky in anger. "That was my cute, sweet, soft little girl! That was my paint to work with, and you've gone and RUINED IT! I can't stain my body black, or it will look like oil, or grease, or actual paint! What was the point of smearing a child's blood all over yourself if people didn't get to UNDERSTAND the art of it!?"
It narrowed its eyes as it watched her level the strange gun-arm at it, and it slammed its own sword arm against its chest, gouging the armour with the strike as he looked at her, chattering its maw and laughing as its body filled with the ecstasy of what was to come. "Duck, duck, goose. That's the game I'll play with her. And I will keep going around...and around...and around...until I've bonked her head enough to split it in two. Or three. Or just mush. Hehehehe. The little girl...thing...unleashed a torrent of bullets towards the Harbinger, but the A.I. reached over to the side of the street and it grabbed a manhole cover with its claw-hand. It tore the cover out of the ground and rose it infront of itself and crouched down to offer as little space as possible to be hit. The bullets screamed off of the metal surface, deflecting all around it, and a couple of them narrowly skimming against its body, but doing no real damage. When the bullets stopped, the Harbinger stood tall and narrowed its eyes as it looked at the little girl. "Your blood better still be red, little girl. I don't want to paint my room black. Black is sad...and a room painted with you should be so happy." It said in a giggly tone as it cocked its arm back and hurled the manhole cover with all its might toward her. The Harbinger immediately began sprinting after it had thrown the cover, running in and ignoring the rest of the battle...all it cared about was playing games with the little ones. All it cared about was seeing if she had enough blood to properly paint with...or if it might need just a little bit more. It cocked back the sword arm, and it aimed to slam its sword down in a hammer strike directly after the manhole cover impacted. Hopefully it would catch the girl unaware and cleave through her skull.
