Megan trudged to the arcade. It was an eventful day for sure, what with getting shot at some more, and having a grenade go off near her, getting her ribs cracked, breaking into the Harbinger cache... She definitely needed to unwind. What better way to do it than Skeeball, right? She could pretend the balls were oddly predictable zombie heads or something.
She wound up her arms and got a good stretch in, loosening her shoulders and generally feeling more limber afterward. This was gonna be fun.
But y'know what would be even more fun? If she had someone to roll against. The machine didn’t need tokens to operate, so she hit the switch and waited for the balls to come rolling out.

Gretel won't ask why there was a skeeball setup in the Arcade, she just needed to relax a bit. The day was rough and exhausting, she was keeping her supplies for later. Her muscles tensed up, and creaked when she did some shoulder warm-up exercises and stretched her arms. She seldom do vigorous exercises besides jogging or take photos in the wild.
There was already someone at the game, the balls slowly rolled down the lane as she walked to her. It was the radio-girl. She pressed the start button gently and gave her a quiet glance.

Megan was still waving her arms around to loosen them up when Gretel walked up. "How's it going? Some day, huh?"
She picked up a ball and weighted it in her hands before rolling it. 10 points? Ehh, not so bad, but now she had a feel for how they rolled. She picked up the second and rolled it right into the 100 point bucket.
She made a face at it. "I... okay? I'm usually not good at this--"
The third hopped directly into the same bucket. "Okay, what?"

Gretel adjusted her glasses, "Fought an undying without good weapon, scavenged in a building and spent some times in radio tower. And you?" She picked up the ball and weighed it, it was lighter than a bowling but heavier than squash ball. It went straight and hopped off at the first border, dropped into the range of 10.
The radio-girl seemed to be slightly surprised for her second ball, she took a glance and concentrated on hers. "Your luck isn't bad." Gretel commented.
She didn't even look at her score before she tossed her third ball out. "Gretel, and you?" She asked of her name, it would be rude to call her radio-girl. The silver hair girl didn't seem to be excited for the ball falling into the 100 point range.
"Megan," She tossed a fourth ball and reached for a fifth. "I got to the radio tower too, shoved all my stuff at Guy because I figured it would weigh me down. Managed to fool the guards at the Harbinger cache, too. Perks of the radio, y'know?"
She puzzled at her score as she realized she'd rolled four 100s in a row. How even?
The sixth ball missed. There goes her lucky streak.

"Nice to meet you." Gretel nodded, "Radio is a useful tool....fool the bandits? How?" That was what she was more interested at. "I had Rebecca to keep my stuff for me, can't risk to make too much noises, they're sensitive to that." She was still slightly guilty for that. The ball flung out bounced high up and landed at the edge of the 20 point border.
Too light. She adjusted the force she used and pushed the next out, it landed the 100 point range. While waiting for Megan's reply, she sent out her sixth one. "40." not bad, but she was high demanding to self's performance.
Megan grinned. "Radio. I caught bits of their conversation. Shapes, colours, names. Someone mentioned a password, so I put it all together and got past their guards. They gave me some stuff, too."
She tossed another ball, scoring 20. Not so bad.
"You were at the radio tower, did you get a hold of the guy who was talking about the thorns?"
Another 20, and her final ball went cleanly into the 100 bucket. 550 points, pretty good.

"You hooked the channel line they were using, that's impressive." The grey eyes blinked in small amusement. "I should get my hands on a radio." Knowledge is essential in a situation like they're having, and she believed she had the ability to analyze truth from made-up.
After tossing her ball, she nodded. "Mhmm, I caught that. It sounded like the area is being isolated and supplies can't get to us easily for a reason." She was distracted in her thought and the ball rolled straight into the trench.
She casually threw the last ball and turned to Megan, "Conspiracy talk, are you with me? My guess is someone is using here as a testing ground, intention unknown."

"I've had some radio communications training, it came in handy. Just not in the way I'd have liked." Megan shrugged. "You think someone's testing something on civilians? Like what?"
She thought back to her frantic frequency surfing. "What do you think will happen on Day 7? Guy said 'it will all be over' in seven days... will it be rescue? Or are they just going to smoke the whole town with bombs?" The smaller girl made a face at what she remembered of the message. "Indestructible thorns..."

"You will be useful to our faction, no matter what." The pale hand landed on Megan's shoulder now they finished the game. "I dunno honestly. I don't have means to collect more information on that, just a guess based on instincts......I've a feeling like - cattle keep for beef." She paused, giving time for Megan to prepare before she spoke of her wild bold estimation. "Don't tell anyone about it," Gretel didn't wish this conversation would bring her into trouble, "Too early to say anything."
The tall female simply shook her head. "I don't know, the closer the count down, the more I get unnerving. I've been suffered from insomnia. Sad to say, it might be just a saying to give us hope, stock up your supplies, Megan, the day after the seventh day - the world might change." Uncertainty was usually one of the reasons causing chaos, with a belief that after seven days their life would return to normal, they united together and made their chances of survival rose. That was why she didn't tell the news in public, it might break their hope and cause unexpected hazards. The one holding information must be very careful of who they share it with.
"We can't worry of what we don't know, that's meaningless. All we can do is prepare ourselves for whatever is coming. Besides, the thorns are what we really needed to mind. They.....seem to be alive." She added, trying to pacify the Asian.

Megan frowned a little. "I just don't like not knowing. When we first heard 'seven days' what did we get? Bandits," she pulled up a stool, climbing up on it to think. "All we needed to do was stay alive another week and this would all end. Now they're saying supplies are dwindling, and we're being told they won't let us leave. Who's they? What does this mystery person say it's too late for us? What do they know about the thorns?"
There was a lot of stuff happening very quickly. She thought about radio transmissions, things other people had seen. "Y'know, we've had some weird reports on the radio lately. From the other factions, I mean. I've heard reports of the undying combining into things. A huge horse, a giant piercing eyeball."

"I don't like it too." Gretel moved to lean against a wall when Megan sat down. "Without information, it's like naive cattle not knowing they're gonna be slaughtered, they live, they eat and play. They might see cattle pulled into the slaughterhouses cry but they were oblivious of the danger. Sorry I talk too much."
She adjusted her glasses by pushing the middle with forefinger, "Truth before revealed remains an uncertainty. We know nothing about that, we can guess but we don't know. Be optimistic and stay calm, but don't go over to believe seven days it will end."
"The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, have you heard of it?" She asked. "The undying is more like monsters that would appear in myths more than what you saw in horror games. They dispersed like when a vampire traditionally turned to ashes when killed."

Gretel was right, just worrying about the future didn't really help them survive it. Better to do something about it instead of just sitting around. The cattle comment unnerved the other girl, though, it reminded her of the rest of what the Harbingers said. Faction cows...
Megan shook her head. "At least vampires didn't come back from their ashes. Apocalypse or not, we'll get through this mess. We'll walk back out into the world next week to say we lived through hell and spat in the devil's face. How about it?" She grinned at the other girl, this kind of conversation was just what she needed. Maybe she'd go out and beat down a baddie after this.
