Freshman Quest: Healing 101Charlie felt it would be beneficial to show the newbies some basic medical techniques, hopefully to keep you alive a little longer! Deciding it would be better to actually show them in a (somewhat) more sanitary environment than the Dorms, so this quest takes place in the Health Department (their make-shift Infirmary). There are a few lingering staff and helpers around who show you the ropes.
Quest Notes: - You can do this quest as a group if you'd like! Just roll the steps as usual. - There is a 300 word minimum word count for each person in this quest.
Step One: Learning the Layout - Roll 3d6 in one post OR 1d6 in three separate posts. RP your character inspecting these areas. (if you roll multiples you can either Re-roll or say they inspect that area super closely)
1: Pull out a drawer and inside you find their supply of band-aids and bandages. It seems like a lot but in reality it would not last long if things really went down. 2: A locked Cabinet filled with medicines. The staff tell you that only one person in their group holds the key to it, and he is quite the cranky customer. They say just in case something happens to the holder there is a hidden spare key somewhere. 3: You look down at a metal table with shiny instruments piled on top. Really to you they look like mini torture devices, best not hang around for long. In reality they are emergency items for surgical needs. 4: You instead the tables that the staff have covered in white linens. There are some mysterious stains on them, red tinted. 5: Neat! There is a working height and weight scale the team had moved into the department. Good to know! 6: A small room with a door off to one side. Inside is a simple desk and a few chairs, clearly a private area for meetings if you'd rather keep things hush hush. There is also paperwork on top of the desk. One of them is a log explaining what had been used and who had been there and when.
Step two: Using Supplies - Not wanting to waste their limited medical supply on trainees, instead they improvise using similar objects to practice with. - If doing this as a group feel free to 'practice' on each other, if doing this solo you may say you are using a random NPC to test things on! - Roll 1d6 and match your responses below. - Please roll twice! So do two of them below. (If you roll the same number feel free to re-roll)
1: Fake Bandages! Using some clean socks, pretend to be bandaging up a part of your 'patients' body that might have been wounded. Use clips to clip the socks in place. 2: Using a bottle filled with water from the tap, pretend you are cleaning a wound! Remember you would never actually use the trainted water on a real wound, but this is pretend. In a real situation you would use isopropyl alcohol or something like it. 3: Taking a needle and thread, sew up a hole in the provided tattered clothing. Not only does this show how to make-shift sew a wound, it also patches some clothing holes! Yay for being useful!! 4: On a table is an actual knife. They ask you to take the knife and cut up some of the canned peaches nearby. Why? They state it's another practice but i think they actually just need help with food prep.... Handling the knife comes with a warning of 'If you cut yourself you sew yourself up.' 5: Another station leads towards the earlier metal table with the surgical equipment, there is a note on top that says 'DO NOT TOUCH.' Oh, Ok. Easiest example ever! 6: As a lesson in maintaining a healthy environment, they make you clean down the entire room.
Rewards: - This quest is considered complete once every player inside has rolled all the times and made the minimal 300 word count each! - For Course Credits: Take the very first number and the very last number you rolled in this thread and add them together. If its an even number, divide it by two and thats how many points you get. If its an odd number, add +1 and then divide by two. - Example: I rolled a 2 and a 4. 2+4 = 6. 6 / 2 = i earned 3 credits for this quest. - Example 2: 1 rolled a 1 and a 2. 1+2=3. Oops! Odd number! So add a 1 to make it an even number. 3+1=4. 4 / 2 = I earned 2 credits for this quest. - Max credits possible to earn in this quest is 6. - The numbers you add are your personal numbers, meaning YOU rolled them. If you have multiple people in a thread, they use their own first and last numbers they personally rolled.

This would be the second time Cecil had made it to their little makeshift infirmary but he could never have too much practice. Especially since he was trying to get passed some of his weaker points. And this time he had a new companion on the way though he smiled and greeted the staff as they entered.
"Thanks for coming along, Kammy. I'm still not that great with the first aid and from the looks of things I might need that knowledge sooner than later." He was sure to stay close so that he could lead Kammy where needed now that he knew she couldn't see.

With the aid of her staff, Kammy followed behind Cecil and smiled at the staff as well. Or in this case she smiled at a bottle of alcohol. "No problem at all! I could always do with extra skills in healing. And you're right, we'll probably need a few clerics about to give buffs. Plus I would like to avoid any more grenades and gunfire."
Yes, no more of that, she really didn't want to lose any other senses.

"Haha, you really like the video game lingo. Did you play a lot of dungeons and dragons?" That was the only thing he knew of for sure that had clerics. He was sure there were other games but they didn't come to mind.
"Let me show you around a bit, though I only know some of the layout."
Cecil had started to lead Kammy around the main area but then he remembered the tables covered in white linens that weren't completely white. His semi-good eye caught sight of the red stains and he immediately doubled back. Nope nope nope. "Let's start over here."

"Dungeons and dragons is my life. Well, much of geeky fandon is my life, but so is DnD." She grinned, fond memories flashing through her mind. "Nothing better then setting up a Internet DnD party. I've even GMed a few campaigns myself."
"Sweet, thanks a bunch for leading me around." She replied as Cecil guided her, unaware of his discomfort. Briefly her foot brushed against something. "Oh, whats this?" She bent down to feel what it was. "Oh hey, we got scales. Cool"

"Haha, maybe once things settle we can get a DnD party together. I am sure a little escape from reality is just what everyone needs." He let Kammy investigate the scales before moving on.
"There is this room over here. It's pretty secluded and quiet. I guess if someone needs to talk about something private this would be the place to go." He led Kammy through the door and maneuvered her around the desk and chairs so she wouldn't trip.

Kammy had never looked so excited. "I will make a special GM board just for you Cecil, you can have the best characters stats at the start of game. I'll even give you all the secret areas and best dice for constitutional rolls." She walked pass the table with the linen on it, ignoring the stains and listening to Cecil. "Sounds like a good place. Maybe for a for games too." Oh how she wished.

Well, Kammy certainly seemed excited about the idea. "Sounds great. Maybe you can make me a barbarian character. Real strong with good armor. A tank you called it?"
He shuffled them quickly passed the linen table since that had been where Kammy had started to wander and apparently right back into another private room so that he could collect himself. Yep, it was a nice room, such square, much quiet.

"Do not fear, for I shall give you a special GM prompt that will give you all of the best things for a barbarian tank class." Yes, Kammy was planning everything for this.
Allowing herself to be shuffled into the new room, Kammy frowned and bent down again. "Is this the same scales I found before?" Now she had no idea where she was, looking around, her sightless eyes confused, staff poking here and there to try and give her a idea of where they were.

"Maybe we should just move on to practice." Cecil chuckled, moving Kammy over to where the supplies was laid out for them. He eyed the supplies by the medical table and noticed it was mostly made up of sharp pointed objects. It also had a sign on it that said do not touch. Fair enough, he could take a hint.
"What do you want to work on first?"

"Hokay." Her hands reached out to the table and pretty much touching the things she should have not touched.
"Hmm, how about we clean the room?" She suggested, letting her staff lean on the table (which fell down), and grabbed a mop instead, moving it too and fro to clean the floor, Or a small area which she kept moping over by accident.

Cecil looked to the staff and they nodded their agreement. Apparently they were a little too busy to show them how to do something at the moment. It made sense, there was a lot going on.
"Sure, you take care of the floors and I'll wipe down some of the surfaces." Cecil grabbed a clean rag and started to wipe stuff down though every once in a while he caught a hint of red. He shied away, a shiver running down his spine as he continued to work to clean what he could that wouldn't be in the way.
Once he had wiped the area clean Cecil looked back to the staff as they bustled about and then to the supplies. He knew cleaning wasn't going to really help him. It was dealing with wounds that he needed to face.
Setting the cloth aside he moved to one of the staff hoping they could help him and they handed him a bottle of tap water and explained how to clean a wound. It was more in depth than he expected, not to mention he had to know that he wouldn't clean an actual wound with tap water.

Kammy had continued to clean the floor until one of the staff members interrupted her, seeing that she wasn't getting anywhere, and quickly moped up the rest of it.
Now that she had done her cleaning, she asked the staff what she could do next. Since Cecil was leaning how to clean wounds, they figured she could help him bandage them (plus she wouldn't end up hurting herself or him with a bunch of socks.) Briefly they explained how to bandage up a person properly, applying pressure to the wound to stop the bleeding. It was interesting to be sure.
Soon she had the gist of it, and felt her away toward where Cecil was. "Okay, I think I know how to use bandages now." And then put a sock on his arm, then went to clip it there. She ended up placing the clip on his shirt instead.

Kammy had made her wait toward him and Cecil politely offered his arm so that she could practice but couldn't help but chuckle when the clip ended up in the wrong place. Plucking it from his shirt he placed in back into her hand. "Try again."
