Instead of working out, Adelaide decided to stick close to the medbay again. She wanted to see if she could sweet talk the handsome young man on board, whom she recognized was the psychiatrist whom had quizzed her before. Immediately she beelined for him, all hooded eyes and suggested smiles as she shadowed him around. Was Adelaide doing it to actually get attention? Did she actually have a certain affection for the doctor? Was she just trying to creep him out? Who knew! Maybe not even Adelaide at this point. Sometimes she just acted out with no thought to the consequences of her actions other than entertainment value.

In her quest to bother the hell out of the poor psychiatrist, she’d forgotten her original mission. “Toodles, sweet thing,” she teased him one final time, even accompanying it with a wink and a kiss sent to the air with her good hand before parting to locate someone else. Where oh where was…ah here we go.
“St. Pierre back on the job,” she told the nurse, all smiles and no indication of having been lollygagging. The nurse blinked, decided not to question it, and told her to go look for some syringes around the prison to bring back.
Unfortunately, she had no such luck.

Adelaide, what the ******** just happened? Did you go blind?
She mentally berated herself while apologizing to the nurse on duty. Maybe they were too busy with a fresh kid from the fight club to notice or care. All Adelaide got was a glance and a mutter about finding some “damn thermometers or something then.” And hey, she had done that before, right? So she saluted with her good hand and marched right out to go locate some.
The woman remembered a few spots she had encountered thermometers before and managed to pick a few more out from the nooks and crannies of the prison before heading back.

Well, she had several. And then several turned into just one when she lost her balance over some crack in the cement and dropped it while trying to catch herself. No way could she break both arms, after all. Surreptitiously, Adelaide shuffled the bits into the grass and hoped nobody noticed her accident. She’d been having a good day, she didn’t need to ruin it by being a random klutz. Like some stupid Mary Sue character displaying her endearing traits to an unseen audience!
No sir, not this author.
Huffing, the older woman returned and stuck the thermometer into the mouth of the first patient she saw with an attending physician, and that had to be enough.

All this running around after the overexertion from earlier hadn’t been good on Adelaide’s health, as much as she hated to admit it. The pain was mounting and making it hard to concentrate again, and she groused to herself as she made her way back to the supply closet to fix things up. It was painfully to bend over and try to fix things up again in her condition, and the older woman soon found herself gritting her teeth her hands shook and objects continued not to cooperate. Eventually she just kicked the door closed and let the things fall in a heap, cursing under her breath.
Close enough…?
