Quote:
Quest #1: Barricade the Entrances

Description: Unfortunately for survivors, the mall was built to let people in instead of keeping people out. There are numerous entrances and exits scattered around the mall, and that doesn’t even include the direct entrances and exits some stores have. Everyone agrees that a lock isn’t enough. Rather than have the worst happen, everyone is encouraged to scavenge and locate what they can from the mall and use it to help barricade and block off entrances. At least one entrance has been barricaded and set up to use as a main entrance and exit. The rest need to be reinforced.

Goal: RP your survivor finding something to help barricade the mall. It can be a table or chairs from one of the many stores, or even one of the stands out in the middle of the mall floor. Have them add it to a barricade. There are barricades that lead directly to the mall, as well as barricades within stores themselves.

First time doing this quest? Please write a minimum of 100 words for 1 Arcade Token.

Repeating? Minimum word count jumps up to 300 in order to claim your 1 Arcade Token.

Feeling wordy? Go above and beyond the bare minimum for additional tokens! These token bonuses do not stack, so you can't write 100 words to claim 1 token, then add 300 words to claim 2 more tokens.

    500 words = 2 Arcade Tokens.
    600 words = 3 Arcade Tokens.
    700 words = 4 Arcade Tokens.
    800 words = 5 Arcade Tokens.

Stumped? Now’s a great time for your character to reflect on the crazy things that have gone down. Maybe they’re upset and need to calm down by nailing things into the barricade. Maybe they’re feeling creative and think the barricades could use more color and decide to go crazy with some glitter glue. The only requirement (aside from the word count) is that your character is doing something to improve the barricades protecting them and everyone else from the infected.

Whistle While You Work: Doing stuff alone is fine, but you don’t have to solo! Feel free to play along with some friends as you work together. The word count can be spread out throughout your total posts for the day.

It really wasn't very hard work. At least not anymore. And he knew it was necessary, but still there were times when Drew would look around the mall at the numerous barricades they had all worked their asses off to set up and wonder: why the hell did they have to keep setting up more?

He pondered this whilst meandering through the now very familiar halls of the mall, whistling a quiet, lonely tune to himself as he passed by barricade after barricade. Really there were only so many things inside the mall. Eventually they would run out of things to shove against the doors and then what? Maybe they'd start tearing down walls...?

The brunette snorted at the idea before finally spotting one that he could reinforce. All it had on it was two tables stacked on top of one other. Flimsy. Easy to get past. Maybe this was where those b*****d bandits got through? The memory caused a brief surge of anger inside of him, but he let it go in favor of finding materials to shove up against and secure that door. Luckily there were stores nearby that had yet to be completely gutted. There was a table he could use, several actually. They were broken, but the broken pieces could be used to fill in the holes. So he got to work, lifting and dragging and arranging them against that door to make sure it was sealed as tight as he could possibly get it.

He filled the gap with debris--table and chair legs, hangers, trash bins, really anything small that he could find just nearby. Even a potted plant, though the plant had since wilted and was now just sort of hanging out in a very literal sense.

Drew took a momentary break to catch his breath before he walked on again, this time looking for things that he could possibly use as alarms, like how Granny taught him. In one store he found a number of pots, another had a vase, while still another had another vase. He carried these as well as a few other smaller objects to use for gap-filler back to the barricade and arranged them as best he could, and he stepped back on marginally satisfied with his work. Was it enough? Should he go in search for more tables? He thought it a moment...
