Freshmen Quest: Cleaning Day

Well it seems like you were the lucky person who was elected to do cleaning duty! Fear not though, because there are other people likely doing the same job as you elsewhere in different rooms. Living in the university is great being as the dorms are home base, so more room... but also means more to clean. Keeping things tidy and clean is not only safer but healthier in the long run!

Roll 1d4 and RP matching your number with that activity below.

Cleaning seemed to be the priority of the day. it made sense. a clean environment meant that there was less likelihood of an accident happening. It also prevented sickness since illnesses were more difficult to contract in a clean environment. It would be a bit tougher with only one usable arm, but Matilda would manage somehow. Injury or no, she still needed to do her part.

Within moments of requesting her position, Matilda was place on the dusting team. "Guess they liked the job I did earlier on the floors," she mused as she began looking for a surface in need of cleaning. It wasn't too hard. There were plenty of surfaces with accumulated dust. So many bodies meant an abundance of dust since human skin was one of the components in dust.

"Hmm... what should I use for the job?," searching around the premises, the blonde looked for a dusting cloth of some sort.

"How do they expect me to clean when there's nothing provided to me... do they expect me to use my hands? I would hardly count such a thing as satisfactory work," Matilda griped as her search for a dusting cloth, or anything to dust with, came up empty. Giving a sigh, she saw little use in whining further. Whining was something she loathed, after all. Using the sweater she had obtained the day before, she balled it up and began using it as a makeshift dusting cloth. Matilda grimaced as it did little more than push the dust around.

But the woman refused to give up just because of a small setback. It might take a bit more effort, but she could make do with the situation.

After countless hours, she wiped her brow and observed her surroundings. She still wasn't pleased. Even though she'd spent so long dusting each counter and shelf, one would think she'd barely spent five minutes considering how much dust was blowing through the air and settling back on each surface. It felt like a never-ending process. Still, the stubborn blonde refused to admit defeat. She continued trying to slide the dust to the floor so it could be retrieved by a broom despite how the dust merely shifted and swirled through the air around her.

One particular cloud of dust sent her into a coughing fit, which kicked up more dust in turn. She wasn't even able to use the sweater to shield her nose and mouth since that was covered in dust as well! Deciding that she probably wouldn't get much further than this despite how little had actually been accomplished, Matilda left the room in hopes that someone could find something better to clean the area with, or that she could at least try again once the dust settled a bit.

"Excuse me. I was assigned to the dusting team, but I wasn't unable to do a job I consider satisfactory due to a lack of supplies. All I had available to use was a sweater, but it simply kicked up any dust I tried to remove from its designated surface. Could I possibly acquire something to prevent the accumulated dust from clouding?"

The worker holding the chart stared at her for a moment before walking calmly over to the room in question. Ducking his head inside, he walked back over and ticked a box on his clipboard. She was shocked when the man chose to walk away instead of dignifying her with a response. Did he really consider that a completed job?

What exactly were the standards here if such a thing was considered a job well done?
